00:47Hello, welcome to From the South. I'm Sophie Fernandez from the Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba. We'll begin with the news. Stay with us.
01:00The Hamas resistance movement stated that the Israeli occupation government continues to commit massacres against civilians in the Gaza Strip.
01:11Hamas said that the continuation of the bombing exposes the lies of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu,
01:18about reducing military operations against the defenseless population.
01:21The attacks and barbaric bombings since this morning have led to the deaths of 70 Palestinians, including children and women,
01:29in what he described as a continuous bloody escalation that is part of the war of extermination and famine
01:35that the Strip has been suffering for two years. Israeli aggression in the Strip has claimed the lives of 67,074 people and 167,430 wounded since October 7, 2023.
02:00Meanwhile, in Lebanon, Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naimin Qassem,
02:14word on the U.S. Plone for Gaza presented by President Donald Trump, is a dangerous project aligned with Israel's interests.
02:22During a speech commemorating the first anniversary of the martyrdom of leaders,
02:26Qassem pointed out that the proposal coincides with the five strategic principles defined by Israel to end the attacks on Palestine,
02:33describing it as an Israeli plan with a new U.S. appearance.
02:37Qassem affirmed that the timing of the proposal presentation seeks to exonerate Israel in the eyes of the international community
02:45for its crimes in Gaza, shifting the responsibility to other actors.
02:50Meanwhile, the Egyptian government will host a new round of talks on the exchange of prisoners between Israel and the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas.
03:05The authorities reported on the preparations for the dialogue following the progress made in the last few hours between Israel and Hamas.
03:13They also stated that they are working actively with all parties to create an environment that will allow for the implementation of an exchange agreement.
03:21Cairo specified that the objective of this first phase is to negotiate the exchange of prisoners at the withdrawal of the Israeli army from the Gaza Strip.
03:35Moving to Israel, settlers protested in the streets of the capital Tel Aviv this Saturday, calling for the release of Israeli hostages amid the alleged peace plans presented by U.S. President Donald Trump.
03:47Participants demanded an end to war in Gaza, a term Israeli public opinion uses to ignore the genocide of Palestinians by the Zionist forces,
03:56which has left more than 67,000 people dead. Protesters expressed their support for the U.S. President Donald Trump, claiming his administration had secured the release of Israeli hostages,
04:08who they say had been victims of the actions by their own military.
04:12Let us remember that the Palestinian movement Hamas is willing to release the detainees and negotiate with Israel on the basis of Palestinian territorial severity,
04:21an aspect that Trump's peace plans ignores.
04:37In Tunisia, thousands of people took part in a large public demonstration to demand the release of the Global Summit Flotilla activists,
04:44who were arrested by Israeli soldiers and sondert.
04:48The massive march took place in the streets of the capital, where attendees waved Palestinian flags and shunted slogans in support of the Palestinian resistance.
04:57At the same time, they urged the Tunisian government to put pressure on Israel to release all humanitarian activists detained after the assault on a maritime convoy.
05:06Tunisia joins a global day of action to condemn the Israeli government's practices against international initiatives,
05:13the genocide and famine imposed on the Gaza Strip.
05:22Meanwhile, this Saturday in Portugal, another demonstration took place calling for the immediate release of activists detained by the Zionist regime,
05:30after intercepting the ships carrying humanitarian aid.
05:33Among the participants in the mission to Gaza are four Portuguese citizens, including Mariana Moretegua, leader and member of the Parliament of the Left Bloc Party.
05:52Now we move to Ireland, where thousands of people gathered in the centre of Dublin to denounce the assault on a global summit Flotilla,
05:59and demand an aim to hostilities on Saturday.
06:02The protesters discontempts was directed especially at the international community,
06:06with strong criticism of the United States and the European Union for their inaction in the face of the crisis.
06:13This came on the eve of the commemoration of the second anniversary of the intensification of the Israeli siege against the Gaza Strip.
06:25In other news, after years of restoration work, the tomb of Pharaoh Amenhotep III,
06:31one of the largest in the valley of kings and queens in southern Egypt, was officially inaugurated.
06:37Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sharif Fatih, presented the newly restored tomb,
06:44with dates back more than 3,000 years.
06:47To the media, for its part the Regional Dictatorate of UNESCO stated that 260 specialists,
06:54from researchers and conservatives to highly qualified technicians, worked on the restoration for 20 years.
07:01In 1789, during Napoleon's short occupation of Egypt, this site was recorded for the first time.
07:08After a long series of excavations, steps and serious damage,
07:12the tomb was restored with the collaboration of the Japanese government and UNESCO.

07:44In the United States, Immigration and Customers Enforcement officers shot a woman during a civil protest in front of the Illinois ICE facilities.
07:52The protest in front of the ICE facilities was violently dispersed by police officers,
07:57evidence of the criminalization of the fight for migrant rights.
08:01The mobilization occurred in the context of the controversial Operation Midway Blitz,
08:06a federal campaign that has recorded over 900 detentions.
08:10The operation has not only been criticized for illegal detentions,
08:13but also fuels the conflict between local inclusion policies and the federal agenda
08:18that responds to the hate field rhetoric driven by the Trump administration.
08:23In other news in Georgia, at least 27 people were injured after opposition protesters stormed the president's residency on Saturday.
08:36Among the injured were six protesters and 21 police officers.
08:40During this incident, the police used water cannons and fire tear gas canisters to clear the area,
08:46after the Ministry of Interior warned that the demonstration exceeded the rules imposed by the law on peaceful demonstrations.
08:53These protests are taking place amidst the elections for majors and members of municipal assemblies,
08:58mainly led by pro-Western movements.
09:01In this regard, Georgian Prime Minister Irak Lee Kora Bixze blamed the European Union for contributing to the unrest in the country
09:09and for attempting to overthrow the government.
09:16The first-right multimillionaire and former Prime Minister Andrade Babis, an outspoken supporter of Trump,
09:24won the Czech Republic's legislative elections, held on Friday and Saturday, October 3rd and 4th.
09:30The first-right president will have to seek external support from other parties, as he does not have sufficient majority to govern.
09:38The 71-year-old magnate was Prime Minister from 2017 to 2021, and Minister of Finance for the four years prior to that term.
09:47If his victory results in a new government, it opens up the prospect of strengthening the populist axis in Europe.
09:558 million voters were called to the polls to elect the 200 members of the lower house, with a total of 26 parties and coalitions competing.
10:08In other news, the new president of Malawi, Peter Mutarika, was sworn in at an official ceremony after being elected in the September 2025 elections.
10:18Thousands of people gathered at the Camusou Stadium in the capital, Blantire, where they could welcome President Mutarika,
10:26who stated that it is time to end the exploitation of the country's state resources.
10:31He also assured that he will govern firmly during his term in office, and thus restore government efficiency.
10:37Mutarika also indicated that the circumstances for investing and doing business are favorable.
10:42Therefore, he called on international investors to come to Malawi.
10:53Moving to Peru, Sirius has demonstrated once again against the government of Dina Boluarte and threats from Congress.
11:00During the mobilizations, the participants demanded structural changes in the governance model,
11:05and denounce what they consider an institutional and representational crisis.
11:10For its part, the National Association of Journalists rejected threats from Congress
11:15and condemned the aggression against communicators in protest against the Peruvian government.
11:20The demonstrations are a response to an increasing of insecurity and criminality in the country,
11:25as well as to questions about the political legitimacy of Boluarte,
11:29whom various sectors accused of maintaining links with figures from the Peruvian political past,
11:35as the far-right wing cake of Fujimori, linked to corruption cases.
11:45And the election campaign in Argentina is affected by a scandal involving José Luis Esper,
11:51deputy candidate for President Javier Millet's party, Freedom Advances,
11:55as he confessed to having received a transfer of $200,000 from Federico Fred Machado.
12:01Machado is an imprisoned businessman awaiting extradition to the U.S. for alleged drug trafficking
12:07after judicial evidence revealed the transaction in 2020.
12:11The scandal could affect the far-right chances in the 26 October legislative elections in Buenos Aires,
12:18a key district for President Millet.
12:21Despite the seriousness of the evidence, President Millet opted for total and public support of Esper.

12:51Welcome back to From the South.
12:57In Venezuela, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces conducted special exercises as part of their preparations in response to threats from the United States.
13:19President Nicolas Maduro called for this activity, detailing that at least 15,751 bases and 335 integral defense areas would be deployed as part of the training operations.
13:33During the present session, Defense Minister of Venezuela assured that the people of Venezuela are united and prefer to face threats from the United States.
13:42He emphasized that these drills guarantee national stability and peace during the 2025 Christmas season.
13:48Venezuela has threatened its military readiness after U.S. forces perpetrated several aggressions near the Venezuelan coast in an attempt to threaten the South American country's sovereignty.
14:00We now have a signed decree from the National Executive regarding the integral defense bodies.
14:15These bodies, as entities of defense and non-armed struggle, must be complemented with armed struggle in case of aggression against the country.
14:27In these defense leadership bodies, everyone is involved, no one is excluded.
14:34Everyday citizens, men, women, children, youth, and all institutions participate.
14:42Likewise, Defense Minister Vladimir Pelina Lopez assured that the Venezuelan people have the power to stand up to the United States in order to defend the country's sovereignty.
14:55A power we need to confront the world's leading hegemon with all its might.
15:06But, even with all its might.
15:10With, all its, evil, perverse, forces that tear apart the dignity of peoples, even with all that power that they have, we have the power of awareness and spirituality.
15:25To stand up to it, in defense of the most sacred thing, a Venezuelan has, their homeland.
15:32So, well, it's about gathering all our strength, and tying everything together.
15:40So that it helps in a aggression that we don't want, that no Venezuelan wants.
15:47Venezuelans are fed up with sanctions, economic persecution, and blockades.
15:55They have caused enough damage to the people of Venezuela, but we also don't want military aggression.
16:02But if they dare, here is one body, one hand, one fist, one fist under the leadership of President Nicolas Maduro to defend this homeland.
16:18For his part, Venezuelan President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodriguez, emphasized that the military drills all this Saturday are intended to ensure the militia's full capabilities.
16:29I always told Chavez, a people's army and an army is the people, but orderly and organized, knowing well what their tasks are, and that is why they have come, to take part in the drills.
16:43Not only the military, but also the inclusion of the people in militia activities, training activities, shooting practice, transportation, and we have carried out operations, such as the one in the town of Cortez, to receive training and information.
17:01Then our troops from the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, who are from the same town, also went with the operation from the barracks to the town, house by house, street by street, neighborhood by neighborhood, urbanization by urbanization.
17:17Today is a kind of summary to test our command capabilities, our control capabilities, and very especially our communication capabilities.
17:30In other news, cyberattacks on public institutions marked the week in July, with the Mortgage Bank being the most recent victim on our own list.
17:40The Mortgage Bank reported a computer incident while performing end-of-month closing processes on the night of September 30.
17:47This situation led to the decision to shut down the institutional network and various internal and external communication channels, to protect the information and viability of the system.
17:58This week it also emerged that the Digital Education and Inclusion Program was hacked by the Pan Pelique Group, which disclosed information on several thousand users.
18:09It previously hacked the websites of the National Prosecutor's Office and the Uruguayan Masonry.
18:21On Monday, October 6, the first and only supermoon of 2025, called Harvest Moon, will appear larger and more golden than usual.
18:30It is the full moon closest to the atom equinox. In the northern hemisphere, it often looks warmer in color, appearing orange or amber as it rises through Earth's atmosphere.
18:41Astronomers say the event will be visible across the globe because it is occurring at full moon, as long as the skies are clear.
18:49For centuries, it provided farmers with extra light to gather crops before the nights grew longer.
18:55The Harvest Supermoon also coincides with the Draconic Meteor Shower, though the moon's brightness is likely to make the faint children stars harder to see.
19:06The moon occurs October 6, and it will be visible everywhere around the world because it is occurring at full moon.
19:18And since the whole planet will be able to see full moon, everyone will be able to experience this supermoon event.
19:27As long as the sky is clear.
19:29Australia celebrates the 38th edition of the Floriette Festival at Canberra's Commonwealth Park, which is considered as one of the largest spring celebrations in the world.
19:54The festival kicks off on September every year and lasts until mid-October, period in which the event attracts thousands of visitors.
20:04Floriette Festival executes a flower bed spanning 8,000 square meters, all crafted to reflect the theme of this edition, science and nature.
20:13The event organized to anticipate as half a million people to pass through the gates over the span of the celebration.
20:20Floriette Festival will run until October 12, 2025, showing out a breathtaking flower scenario.
