00:00The Best Motors TNT Masters T20 Festival will see players 40 and over being involved in a tournament comprising eight teams.
00:08It runs from December 13th to the 16th, with matches taking place at the National Cricket Centre and the Balmain United Recreation Ground.
00:17Tournament director Rajendra Purai stated how the matches run over the four days.
00:21We play two games per day in each venue.
00:24So Group A will play one game in Cricket Centre, the next game they will play in Balmain, and we will switch it to the four-arm three days.
00:33On the Sunday, the semi-final and final will take place at the NCC, under an atmosphere of a festival cricket.
00:41Praising the initiative was Dr. Jack Austin Warner, who was the feature speaker at the launch.
00:46Even though there are players over 40 and even 50 in this tournament, Dr. Warner promised lots of riveting action, with the cricketers competing extremely hard on the field of play.
00:57It is a veterans tournament that will provide entertainment, but also one that will send a strong message to the participants, one that says that your contribution still matters, your experience still has value, and your cricketing story is not over.
01:20And how did this idea come about?
01:22The man who played one first-class match and six list-day games for TNT provided the answers, the name being Rajendra Mangali, who is also the chairman of the tournament.
01:32This came up with a discussion between myself, Azim Basarat, the president, and Frank Simmons.
01:41We were just chatting, and Azim said, so why do you do something for cricket at that age?
01:48And I thought of it, and I turned to Frank, and I said, Frank, wait a minute, we could do something about this?
01:54Frank said, yes, let's work on it.
01:55This is not the first and last for the Best Motors Masters T20 Festival, as it's going to be a new part of the local cricket calendar.
