00:00let's get rolling with football Trinidad and Tobago are taking part in their
00:18CONCACAF World Cup qualifier against St Kitts and Nevis at the Haysley Crawford
00:23Stadium the prestigious FIFA tournament takes place next year in this part of
00:28the world with three CONCACAF nations being joint hosts Canada USA and Mexico
00:34let's head to James Saunders who's live at the stadium for an update he's probably
00:39just about the only Trini they're not in red James
00:45well guys we're live here at the Haysley Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain and I
00:49tell you what listen it's just about 10 minutes since kickoff time and I'm quite
00:54jealous right now because standing here for the past few minutes I've seen so
00:57many people in red stream past me heading into the stadium and if you can listen
01:02carefully I'm not sure you can hear there's a loud cheering I'm just assuming
01:07what's going on such as the vibes and the action here of course Trinidad and Tobago
01:11World Cup qualifying action against St Kitts and Nevis a win tonight but almost
01:16certainly guarantee TNT a place in the final round with a game to spare coming
01:20up against Costa Rica but I tell you what I'm not the only person out here
01:24suffering away from the action I've got a football fan here in Chuchini fashion why
01:32are you late like me first begin traffic traffic is ridiculous out there but I'm so
01:37glad I'm here because I think I think I need to leave like I hear too much noise
01:41inside it I need to go and cheer on my boys well I see you got your flag you got
01:45your replica on what do you expect tonight a win a sure sure win I think we could score like three or more
01:52yeah I was just about to ask if three or more I'm looking at five all right so we're here at the
01:58Hazley Crawford Stadium I tell you what it's a near capacity crowd but just looking
02:02around you can see tons of people still streaming into the venue I expect that
02:06this will be a sold out affair and I'm assuming that that is a goal that has been scored
02:11behind me well I tell you what the fan is gone I am gone I'm not gonna miss the
02:16action I'm gonna send it back to you guys live in studio thank you James is so jealous of you here
02:22everybody was stuck in studio we're so jealous but to one other sport now to the Western East tour of
02:28England the new t20 captain bought same old same old results for the Caribbean team this as the men in
02:36Maroon lost the opening t20 to host by 21 runs in Chesler Street England made 188 for six with 96 from
02:45Josh Butler in reply West Indies were restricted to 167 49 with Liam Dawson taking four wickets we have
02:53the highlights the wind coming across Jason after winning the toss England chose to bat against the
02:59West Indies in the first t20 international in Chesler Street and that's something to be mindful of a
03:04thing Ben Duckett was dismissed by Romario Shepard for one height on a chance she hope underneath it
03:10and wicket taken but there was a partnership between Jamie Smith and Josh Butler to full again
03:16their stand was with 79 runs for the second wicket sounded good off the bat and it was good Smith made 38
03:26while Butler was the top scorer with 96 of 59 balls they continue to go the distance back-to-back sixes
03:33Shepard was to pick up the bowlers with two for 33 might be out he's hit it well but he's hit it
03:39straight down the fielders throat that Jacob Bethel chipped in a 23 not out as England closed on 188 for
03:45six from 20 overs when the West Indies responded Evan Lewis and Johnson Charles put on 27 and 3.2
03:53overs wide mid-off and the fielder Bethel Charles was out for 18 followed by skipper Sheehoek for three
04:01hasn't got it and it's cost him his wicket duck it takes it Lewis and Roston Chase then had a partnership
04:08with 58 runs for the third wicket smack down the ground is that another six for Lewis yes it is
04:13Lewis fell for 39 and Chase went for 24 again duck it as easy as you like Liam Dawson was frugal and
04:23potent with figures of four for 20 from four overs what a comeback after two boundaries there were
04:29two wickets each for Bethel and Matthew Potts as West Indies were restricted to 167 for nine from 20
04:36overs England won by 21 runs to lead the three game series 1-0 you know now any keeps export there
04:43are no smiles meanwhile the West Indies lost seven wickets to spin in the opening t20 and Captain
04:51Shea hopes wants that area to be rectified yeah you know a lot of teams like to throw a spin at the
04:58West Indies is just something that we're aware of we just need to get better just quite frank as a
05:03batting unit we've got so much depth in that batting unit we so so powerful so destructive and it's just
05:09one day break we've got to make sure that we pick ourselves up you know put this one behind us and we
05:13have two more games to win to win the series so we've got to look forward and why didn't the West Indies
05:20play left arm spinner Akhil Hussain guess what Hussain can possibly rule be ruled out of the entire
05:27series after he and his fellow Trinidadian Jade goalie were unable to secure the necessary visas
05:34to enter the UK both were unable to travel to the country following recent changes to UK visa entry
05:42requirements for TNT citizens which came into effect recently both players had to submit applications and
05:50attend mandatory in-person appointments to the ladies West Indies cricketer Janelia Glasgow remains
05:59hopeful that her team can beat England in the third and final ODI taking place tomorrow in Taunton
06:06should that happen the Windies will avoid a whitewash as they have surrendered the series here's more
06:12West Indies cricketer Janelia Glasgow is hoping the ladies and Maroon can avoid a whitewash when they face
06:18England in the third and final ODI on Saturday the game takes place in Taunton with the West Indies
06:23having been swept 3-0 in the t20 series and trailing the ODIs 2-0 it's very windy across the ground just
06:31finished training session it's a flat wicket but I mean some good pace it will come on and this is
06:36something we all like I think most of us love the pace on coming on on the starting I think we'll have
06:44a good start whether we bought our bowl first we have played five games already so I don't think it
06:49should be matter between myself or the rest of the girls whether we bought our bowl we just have to
06:54come prepare and end on a high note Glasgow made 44 from 24 balls in the last game which the Windy's
07:00lost in Leicester and how would the 21 year old describe that innings I think I was ready from the
07:06night before always in my grooving you know dancing all the morning and so you know give God all the praise and
07:12thanks and when I get to this ground I was told that I was batting at number six and I was even
07:18ready from the get-go so it was just about going out there and execute I think I have planned and be
07:24ready for what is coming my way so I think I just had to go out there and execute and I think I did
07:30that really well the West Indies lost that match by 143 runs to surrender the series skipper Haley Matthews
07:36missed the game with injury while Kiana Joseph had the flu despite the heavy defeat Glasgow says
07:42it was a good effort from the visitors I think we still put up a good fight with the young girls
07:48myself and really an agreement went out there and play fearless cricket I think we also make the runs without
07:55those girls same amount of runs two hundred and thirty something forty something when these girls are here we
08:02meet them same runs and without them we're still making that run so I think that was a good fight
08:07between us as a young group without them and I must say kudos to us even though the game did not went
08:14our way but I am still happy with the results Matthews has also been ruled out of the final ODI
08:19with a left shoulder injury that was aggravated by a fall in the field during the opening ODI in Derby
08:25the 2025 TTCB season recently ended with the premiership teams not having to be relegated this
08:35year Caldrax secretary Anil Kamal was also involved in the restructuring process and believes it was a
08:42huge success the 2025 TTCB premiership season ended recently with central sports retaining their two-day
08:51title and in the TKR CPL T20 festival Queen's Park were the ones to lift that trophy according to
08:58Caldrax sports club secretary Anil Kamal the season was quite a success the quality of cricket in 2025 was
09:05definitely a step up it gave clubs the opportunity to to bring out younger players give them the exposure
09:12at the premiership division in terms of preparation it was very competitive and you saw players adapting and
09:19batting longer innings and in terms of club strategies you could have seen a clear difference
09:24I think it would have been helpful for the new clubs coming up in the premiership division in
09:29terms of them getting an opportunity to play us one season without any demotion all 10 teams will
09:35return to premier one in 2026 regardless of the position they finished in this year Kamal was a part
09:41of the committee involved in the restructuring process whereby there was no demotion this year
09:46according to Kamal it's a step in the right direction as it allowed the clubs to make some
09:51brave decisions which may have otherwise been difficult the decision not to relegate clubs in the
09:57premiership division in 2025 gave clubs the opportunity to experiment also with with no pressure knowing that
10:05there will be no demotion they took the opportunity to expose younger players to the division they could have
10:11experimented they could have used the opportunity to develop players and I think it went quite well
10:15regarding the TTCB T20 festival Kamal says that was the highlight of the 2025 season he supports such an
10:24initiative as it helps in identifying talent across the country it gave players and exposed players to the
10:30T20 level exposed to them for selection and the national team the CPL and so on also it was of the TTCB laid the
10:40platform for players to go out and show their skills it was well organized and I think clubs are looking
10:46forward to 2026 Kamal who's also the chairman of sports at Caldrak says by not demoting teams this year it
10:54also benefited his side Caldrak plays in the TTCB premier two south division there were a lot of
11:00positives compared to last year with Caldrak club knowing that there were no demotion in 2025 the
11:06clear the team trained well there were a lot of cohesion it gave us the opportunity to expose a
11:11number of young players such as eight players playing first team cricket at least six of them for the first
11:16time at the Premiership the TTCB 50 over competition was scrapped this year due to inclement weather
11:22March and Patriots are the premier one defending champions Vinwood now any tips export children
11:28are the future of the nation as such sport minister Philip Watts paid a courtesy visit to the La Hocketa
11:35South government primary school earlier today to congratulate the school's March pass team the
11:42March pass team represented the st. George East educational district at the 2025 national primary school track
11:49and field championships and emerged as the overall champions in the March pass competition during
11:57his visit minister Watts met with the student body commending their discipline and dedication and offering
12:03words of encouragement aimed at motivating the youth to strive forward for continued excellence
12:10we head to South America with Carlos Ancelotti's first match in charge of Brazil ended in a goalless
12:25tailmate against Ecuador but the Samba boys are still close to sealing World Cup qualification while
12:32the rivals Argentina kept up their hot form with a one nil win over Chile Brazil's breath chance coming
12:39from Vinicius jr the Real Madrid star reunited with his former boss but no breakthrough was a five-time
12:46World Cup winners stay in fourth they could qualify as soon as Tuesday when they face Paraguay
12:52our goal is to qualify to fight in the World Cup and restore Brazil's status at the top of world football
13:01that's the goal we all have we're going to fight to achieve it Argentina have already qualified for
13:08next year's events but they continued their strong run of form with a one nil victory against Chile
13:13Julian Alvarez with the winner for the World Cup champions their 10 points clear in the standings
13:19it also now means bottom side Chile can't automatically qualify and over in Asia Jordan and Uzcanistan have
13:28realized their World Cup dreams both tickets to expanded World Cup for the first time with wins
13:35Uzbekistan have also benefited it's the first time they've qualified since gaining independence
13:42from the Soviet Union in 1991 a goalless draw against the UAE was enough to see them through
13:48less surprising is South Korea's place in the tournament they've qualified for the 11th
13:54successive time following a 2-0 victory against Iraq that takes Asia's participation to five teams as
14:01many as four more could be joining them there were wins for Palestine Qatar and Indonesia in their bid
14:07to reach the next round of qualifying the final group games kickoff on Tuesday
14:11taking a club to their first title in almost two decades can't save you from the axe it seems as
14:19Tottenham Hotspur's have sacked Australian coach and pasta Coglu almost three weeks after leading them to
14:26the Europa League title did lead the club to victory in the Europa League just over two weeks ago it was
14:33the club's first major trophy in almost two decades and saw them qualifying for the Champions League but
14:38the Spurs endured their worst ever Premier League season finishing only one place above the relegation
14:44zone well in a statement pasta Coglu reflected on his Europa League triumph that night in Bilbao was
14:49the culmination of two years of hard work dedication and unwavering belief in a dream there were many
14:55challenges to overcome and plenty of noise that comes with trying to accomplish what many said wasn't
15:02possible the finals got going last evening and it provided us with a thriller as the Indiana Pacers
15:09stormed back from 15 points down in the fourth to steal game one 111 to 110 Pacers was second best for
15:17most of the game against the favored Oklahoma City Thunder for Tyrese Halliburton sunk the jumper with with
15:250.3 seconds remaining to steal the game Thunder up 5745 at the break in the third it's SGA at it again
15:34getting right where he wants on that elbow hit the mid-range shot Thunder by 13 the case and Wallace
15:40drives draws a double team and finds Jalen Williams on the alley-oop there's another look beautifully done
15:49and you see the stuff is the result now Williams pump thanks the top of the key drives has the dunk
15:56attempt smothered by Benedict Matherin who just went straight up and swatted that shot and it's an 11
16:02point lead closing seconds the quarter SGA sinks the three-pointer and the Thunder up by nine heading to
16:11the fourth quarter in that fourth quarter it's Williams picking off the pass takes it in for the dunk
16:18and the Thunder have a 15 point lead in the fourth quarter and boy they're looking good
16:25here comes Indiana Andrew Nembhardt drives and kicks out to OB Toppin and he knocks down the three
16:31that cuts the lead well it's at 11 then Aaron Neesmith bites through the paint finds OB Toppin
16:37again and Toppin drills another shot the lead down to seven Miles Turner gets it on the wing pumps
16:43sidesteps sinks the three the leads down to four with plenty of time to go over six minutes
16:48in this one SGA driving in with his right hand gets the tough left fall and the Thunder up 104
16:55to 98 Shea Gilgis Alexander had 38 points in this one what a game for the MVP Andrew Nembhardt at the
17:02top of the key gets separation knocks down the three-pointer and it's a one possession game with
17:07two minutes to go then Nembhardt at the top of the key for three again no good but there's Pascal Siakam
17:13just hanging around and laying it in Indiana's down by one now closing seconds Indiana still down by
17:20one but Tyrese Halliburton has the ball in his hands he's also got the game in his hands as he drills the
17:28dagger shot and Indiana absolutely steals game one well we head to the French Open where it will be a
17:37clash of the top two men in the tennis as Italian number one Yannick Sinner will battle Spain's world
17:43number two Carlos Alcaraz Alcaraz walked into the final after Italian Lorenzo Musetti retired down
17:51two sets to one in the fourth while Sinner ended Djokovic bid for 25 slams with a straight sets victory
17:58Djokovic was confronted with world number one Yannick Sinner in the semi-finals and the pair produced some
18:04incredible tennis Djokovic did win this point but it was the Italian who went on to take the match in
18:10straight sets at 38 the Serbian had been aiming to become the oldest Grand Slam men's singles
18:17champion his 23 year old opponent though is into this final for the first time in his career
18:24I had to step up I had to play my best tennis I could I'm I'm very happy how how I handled the
18:33situations and but this shows again what a role model he is for for all of us and especially for
18:39us young players playing like this tennis with with that what he is he's doing is is incredible so
18:46I wish him only the best for for the rest of the season and yeah I think we are all very very
18:52lucky to see him playing such a high level tennis so it's amazing I don't think I've ever received
18:59this much support on this stadium in my career in big matches against the best players in the world
19:07so very very honored to to experience that obviously not the happiest because of the loss but you know I
19:18try to show my attitude to the crowd because they were terrific well reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz
19:28will be Sinner's opponent in the final he was taking on Lorenzo Musetti in the last four the Italian was
19:33threatening to cause an upset he took the first set for the Spanish hit back to go two sets to one
19:39up and early in the fourth Musetti retired from this contest with what appeared to be a left finder it
19:44means on Sunday Alcaraz will be bidding for his fifth Grand Slam title at the age of just 22
19:50playing such a great level such a high intensity during three sets is tough and I know that I bring
19:59a lot of intensity in the in the matches I think I put some high speed on my on my shorts during during the
20:09whole match that they're probably some other players are not used to play such a high speed or intensity
20:16this is one screamer in Chesterlo Street it's all play of the day
20:24play of the day is brought to you by flow we keep your rhythm flowing
20:34England cricketer Brydon Kars took a magnificent catch to get rid of West Tilly's batter Evan Lewis for
20:4039 in the opening T20 all of it does it carry oh that's a brilliant catch that is a fabulous catch
20:46Lewis was trying to smash Jacob Bethel only for Kars to cover some ground and take a superb catch
20:51squarer than he was aiming he was hoping to go over long on again but Kars does really well
20:56it was also a game England won by 21 runs and for that grab Brydon Kars gets the Knights TV 6
21:02play of the day play of the day was brought to you by flow we keep your rhythm flowing
