President Donald Trump's pugnacious response to Omarosa Manigault Newman's tell-all book is attracting criticism from an unusual place: Fox News.
Transcript
00:00By now, you've probably heard about President Donald Trump's latest feud, this time with his
00:04former aide and apprentice co-star Omarosa Manigault Newman, whose memoir, Unhinged, paints
00:09a pretty damning picture of POTUS. Trump has received his fair share of backlash for his
00:13combative response to Manigault Newman's claims, but now he's getting criticism from the last
00:18place you'd expect. No, not you, Melania. Your time will come, though. Many at Fox News have
00:25actually clapped back at Trump for his constant lambasting of Manigault Newman on Twitter.
00:29Brian Kilmeade, co-host of the morning show Fox & Friends, leveled perhaps the strongest rebuke
00:33to Trump's lashing out at Manigault Newman, who accused him of being a racist and saying
00:37the N-word. In order to sell a book, she's come out with a series of tapes and in many ways
00:42seems to have outsmarted the president, who has taken the bait and gone out and tweeted
00:46directly after her, Kilmeade said Wednesday morning. Kilmeade compared Trump's response
00:50to Manigault Newman to the way the White House vociferously protested Michael Wolff's claims
00:55is in fire and fury. Kilmeade said that Trump gave Michael Wolff millions of dollars by going
01:00after his book. He seems to be doing the same with Omarosa's book. In particular, the president's
01:04decision to call Manigault Newman that dog on Twitter on Tuesday morning did not sit well
01:09at all with some of Trump's former allies. Fox News personality and longtime Trump friend
01:14Roldo Rivera took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the matter, saying,
01:31Fox News contributor Ari Fleischer, who was White House press secretary under George W. Bush,
01:36also criticized Trump's tactics. Manigault Newman was crashing and burning and then,
01:41when the president put out his tweet last night about her being a dog, he brought her back to
01:45life, Fleischer said Wednesday afternoon. That's the biggest mistake the White House has made.
01:50And on Tuesday night, Fox News anchor Ed Henry conducted a tough, contentious interview with
01:54Trump re-election campaign staffer Katrina Pearson, who defended Trump's dog slur and attacked
01:59Manigault Newman.
02:00Omarosa bit the hand that fed her. To me, that's what a dog is.
02:04Of course, Trump has also received support from Fox News staffers, some of whom have echoed
02:08White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders' contention that the press has
02:12over-covered the story and elevated Manigault Newman by interviewing her on television.
02:17Your mainstream media just can't get enough of Omarosa.
02:22Fervent Trump supporter and primetime host Sean Hannity was quick to side with the president
02:25on his Tuesday show, saying,
