"Superman: Legacy" has found its Clark Kent and Lois Lane. After a lengthy search it was announced that David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan will star as the characters in the film that will launch DC’s new universe under James Gunn and Peter Safran.

00:15Cornswett and Brosnahan were among six actors who vied for the lead roles.
00:19With Gunn filming screen tests over the June 17th weekend with Nicholas Holt and Tom Brittany also in contention to play Superman in Clark Kent, and Emma Mackey and Phoebe Deniver in the running for Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane.
00:32Cornswett will anchor a new universe as DC attempts to reinvent itself after a streak of misses with Black Adam, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and the recent The Flash.
00:41Only three actors have played the character on the big screen. Christopher Reeves in 1978's Superman, Brandon Routh in Bryan Singer's Superman Returns, and Henry Cavill who starred in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel.
00:54Superman Legacy has a release date of July 11th, 2025, with Gunn expecting to film early next year.
01:01The film will also be a massive career shift for Cornswett who first broke out in Ryan Murphy's series The Politician, followed by the Murphy-backed Netflix series Hollywood.
01:11Other credits include the HBO series We Own This City and A24's horror sequel Pearl.
