00:05Netflix just dropped the trailer for the black and white romantic drama that was filmed in quarantine,
00:10Malcolm and Marie, starring Zendaya and John David Washington.
00:14Mystery.
00:16The unknown is what supports the tension of a relationship.
00:20You're angry.
00:21No, the what-if factor.
00:23The film comes from Zendaya's Euphoria director, Sam Levinson,
00:26and it was shot amid the COVID-19 pandemic with a small crew.
00:31I feel like once you know someone is there for you, and once you know they love you,
00:34you never actually think of them again.
00:36The film, shot on 35mm, follows how a director's relationship with his girlfriend is tested
00:40when they return home from a movie premiere and await responses from critics.
00:44According to the trailer, this is not a love story.
00:47This is the story of love.
00:48All I wanted tonight was thank you, Malcolm.
00:51That is it.
00:53You know that I'm thankful.
00:54You know that I made a mistake.
00:55So why turn it into something more?
00:57Because it's about how you see this relationship.
00:59Netflix acquired the film last September for $30 million following a bidding war between
01:03several distributors.
01:05The streamer plans to launch an Oscar campaign for the project.
01:08I'm the last person standing.
01:12I will carry you.
01:14Hold on to me for dear life.
