00:00The Mean Girls cast almost looked a little different.
00:03Amanda Seyfried is saying her role of Karen Smith in the 2004 film
00:07almost went to none other than Blake Lively.
00:10What's more, Seyfried originally auditioned for the role of Regina George,
00:14which eventually went to Rachel McAdams.
00:16In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the actress said,
00:18I'd flown out to LA for the first time with my mother.
00:22It was very exciting.
00:23I met Lacey Chabert for the first time, and Lindsay Lohan was in the room,
00:26and Blake Lively was playing Karen,
00:28and then I was Regina.
00:30The Emmy-winning actress left the room thinking she'd get a call,
00:33either telling her that she did or didn't get the part of the Queen Bee.
00:37But instead, they had another offer for her.
00:39I flew home, and they were like,
00:40we think you're more correct for Karen.
00:42Mean Girls casting director Marcy Leroff previously told Cosmopolitan UK
00:46that Lively was a top pick for the role of Karen.
00:50The Gossip Girl alum hadn't done the sisterhood of the traveling pants yet.
00:53She came down to the final test,
00:55but at some point some of the filmmakers said to keep looking.
00:58Amanda Seyfried had read for Regina,
01:00and we really liked her.
01:01But then film producer Lorne Michaels suggested,
01:04why don't we make her Karen?
01:05On her fondness for the character,
01:07Seyfried notes she's the person with the biggest heart.
01:09The actress goes on,
01:10she truly believes that the best idea would be to go to Taco Bell,
01:14and that her secret is that she's psychic and has a sports channel.
01:17How could you not fall in love with somebody who fully believes that they have ESPN?
