00:00i'm glad they're making moves i i hope it's not the only move that they make a vet all-star like
00:06to back up garrett crochet like yeah that that's what you wanted right we've been calling for that
00:10it's not really i don't think he's i don't think he really counts as a number two like i mean i i
00:16think they're selling him as one uh are they though like i like who is selling him as well
00:22i mean if you look at what any of the baseball writers are writing about they're all saying the
00:27same thing like you know the fans media have been asking for more help when it comes to pitching and
00:32this is a guy that can do that so well yeah he can pitch but he's he's not a legit number two i mean
00:38he's not who's not who not the expectation that i had for a number two yeah a couple of years ago he
00:44might have been a legit number two i don't think right now he is i to me i'm hoping i'm hopeful
00:50that this is the beginning of multiple moves clearly the red socks want to make moves that
00:54are affordable uh which i understand this is pretty affordable in the trade you get 21 million
00:59dollars coming back so that's going to take out half of his uh his payroll uh right there which is
01:05is nice for them it's basically the exact same amount of money you would have been paying lucas
01:09giolito so it's kind of that replacement to me and then if you still go out and get joe ryan who is
01:14affordable and under control then it's like okay they went the affordable route but still acquired a ton
01:19a hundred but do you really believe that they're going to now go out and get joe ryan or is this
01:26just a surrogate like is this just we did something we made a move and we addressed the pitching
01:33situation and we're done there i if they're gonna when you compare him to giolito and i like i'm fine
01:42with that because i feel like giolito was on was was on the down and uh when it comes to sunny gray i
01:50feel like he's on the maybe is on the up but i i it's not from my perspective it's not a legit number
01:57two uh and so i that's that's my question about the red socks and what they're doing i think the beauty
02:02of trading for a guy like joe ryan is they don't have to give up a ton of money and that's the big
02:07thing right is clearly we know john henry is not in the uh mode of spending that he was in years past
02:13and so if you go out and trade for joe ryan it's more so just prospects which you didn't really trade
02:19for sunny gray you traded richard fitz and brandon clark like you didn't trade anything for sunny gray
02:24brandon clark is was a really good prospect in your organization like a number five prospect
02:29so yes you did dick fits yeah whatever i i'm fine with that but but it's not like you gave up
02:37peyton toley or connelly early you've already cracked or christian campbell or any of your young
02:42or marcelo meyer any of those guys but that's what you're gonna have to give up to get a legit number
02:47two and they're not going to like this is going to be the guy um it's that is that becomes my concern
02:54is is are they one and done with that and and um feel like they have satiated the fans but i i don't
03:03i don't think they have like and i think it makes all the sense in the world if you're trading for
03:07another controllable inexpensive pitcher and then you pay for a bat like that's a great offseason and
03:15i think that's kind of the route they're trying to go is these two pitching options if they're able
03:19to make a trade for a guy like joe ryan are affordable easy pitching options for them they
03:24don't have to invest a ton of money and then they can get a bat like pete alonzo to put in the
03:27lineup let me check the subaru of new england text line which is open and doing business all day long
03:34here at this radio station and a 774 texter says sunny gray is uh is a three on a good day and most
03:44likely a four on every other day uh he is here's a text uh from new hampshire good morning and hello
03:51new hampshire he's a number four at best yeah i mean listen there's upside to him so i'm okay with
03:58that part of it i just don't think that if if you've been if you're craig breslow and you have
04:04acknowledged the need that the baseball team has for a legit number two you can't try and sell sunny
04:11gray as a legit number two that's what they're doing though that's what i'm trying to say and if
04:15you look over at the twitch line a lot of people are agreeing are agreeing what that they are billing
04:20him as the number two and that who is though the red socks like that's not what you said
04:25media the media baseball writers writers yeah i was i was reading a lot about him yesterday and
04:31that's how they're i don't know why we're arguing about it it's that's because you went back to it
04:34that's why i'm just trying to figure out why you went back to it because you just brought up that
04:37there are texters that are saying he's three at best and i'm what which is what i started off the
04:42show by saying like he's a he's a he is a number three he's not he's not anywhere near a number two
04:48in my mind right and i'm giving my perspective that i don't think the red socks are going to do
04:52anything else i think that they are going to bill him as the number two and i wouldn't get my hopes
04:56up that you're going to get a legit number two moving forward yeah well i listen i i would hope
05:01at some point that that they understand that they need to continue to add there and so we have
05:08you
