00:00We talked about the 14 straight wins.
00:03And one of the biggest things that I was looking at with this baseball team
00:07over the past several years, we've dealt with it,
00:09is what do they look like after the All-Star break?
00:12And here they are, five games in after the All-Star break,
00:15five wins in a row.
00:16We talked about that, I think it was 17 games stretched
00:21before the trade deadline.
00:22So they got 12 more games before the actual trade deadline.
00:26Only got to win two.
00:27You said seven and ten was fine.
00:28Yeah, I felt like if they can go right about, like right close to 500,
00:33then I think that you're going to be a big buyer.
00:36And based on what we've seen, and granted, it's only been five games
00:41after the All-Star break, my expectations are if you're Craig Breslow
00:45and you're John Henry and you're Sam Kennedy
00:48and you're looking at this baseball team, you have to be saying to yourself,
00:52all right, the way we've started after this break, if it continues this way,
00:56we have to be big-time players when it comes to being biased for this team
01:00and having a legitimate chance of not only winning the division,
01:05which we all thought was going to be absolutely impossible,
01:09but making a deep playoff run.
01:12And so if you're Bresbott, you can't do what you've done for the past several years
01:20because in those years you didn't play that well after the All-Star break.
01:24If you continue this way, how are you going to answer questions
01:27when people are saying, well, why didn't you guys make any big moves
01:31with the team that you have out there?
01:33Are you worried at all about Chapman having the juice to be your closer
01:39the rest of the season or no?
01:41Oh, I'm not worried at all.
01:42Okay.
01:43Because he's been dealing with the injury thing and he, you know.
01:49I mean, if someone was interested in him, I said this over the weekend weeks,
01:53I would trade him if you get a haul and bring in a guy like my guy,
01:59like Glasnow or someone else, I mean, to me, I just,
02:05the closer is not as important to me and I think is to Craig Breslow
02:09as it is to other people.
02:10So if you're going to get a massive amount of people that you could flip
02:12for a starter, I think you need a number three starter more than you need.
02:15Oh, so you think, so you went from going to get a bat to now getting a starter?
02:18I want a bat and a starter.
02:20Oh, so you want both?
02:21Both.
02:21Okay.
02:22Why the starter concerns?
02:24Just because you got Suarez coming back today.
02:26I don't know how healthy he's going to be going down the stretch.
02:28You can never have enough pitching from my perspective.
02:31Peyton Tully's been okay.
02:32All right.
02:33So you don't, you're not confident that Crochet is back.
02:37Oh my God.
02:38No.
02:38I mean, he's not coming back this year.
02:40And you're not 100% fully confident in the two young guys in Tully.
02:45Bennett's been awesome.
02:46I mean, he's been almost, I mean, but Tully's been great.
02:48Right.
02:48But what about early coming back?
02:50I don't know.
02:51I just always, when you're young and you're coming off an injury,
02:53I don't trust you entering the playoffs.
02:55All right.
02:55So you want a starter and a bat.
02:57Yes.
02:57Okay.
02:58And if you can get that for Chapman, you'd be good.
03:00And then you're saying, maybe you move Whitlock to the closer or Guerrero.
03:04Yeah.
03:04But Guerrero in there, you figure it out.
03:06I mean, I know he's 35 and he hasn't been good,
03:08but for over the course of his career, but for me,
03:12what you need on this team is a bat and a pitcher.
03:14And if you don't make those moves,
03:16I thought you were going wigs with your lead,
03:17that this was a sign that core was the wrong manager because of the second
03:20halves, his team's collapsed.
03:22Yeah, that is true.
03:23But it's still, still, it's only five games in.
03:26And so let's see what this, you know,
03:2917 game stretch looks like before the all side, uh, break.
03:33I mean, not the all side break before the trade deadline.
03:35Cause I know right at the end of it, they got the Dodgers.
03:37So that'll be a nice kind of, um,
03:39test for them against one that probably wanted to probably the best team in
03:43baseball.
03:43All right, Wiggy.
03:44Thank you very much.
03:44You got it, brother.
03:45I think people are going to believe that Chapman was talking about, uh,
03:49Meyer and Anthony, but I really agree with Curtis.
03:53He was talking about the whole team that are playing.
03:56Now you have to remove the cancer and I'll compare it to my sad San Francisco
04:00giants that now have Rafi Devers.
04:02You can crush the ball, but it's an absolute cancer in the dugout.
04:06And you can talk about his home runs and his on-base percentage,
04:09but they're all in games that are losing just like he did with this Red
04:13Sox.
04:13So all the analytics people, you can keep talking about how great he is.
04:16The bat is awesome.
04:18But when he's a cancer and it goes back to the conversation you were having
04:22last week about, uh, confidence versus arrogance.
04:25And it's all about ego.
04:27As soon as Roman Anthony got paid, he was like, I'm good.
04:31And it's kind of the Red Sox organization's fault as well for putting
04:35him in a, a predetermined, like he's the face of the franchise when he
04:41hadn't done anything, but go hit in the world baseball classic.
04:44Awesome for him, but he hadn't proven anything at the major league level
04:48organization for putting them there.
04:50Michelle.
04:52One side of the argument.
04:53Yeah.
04:54I mean, I, I think we need to be careful because I don't think a role.
04:58This Chapman was necessarily calling anybody a cancer, uh, was just offering
05:03an explanation on, uh, the team in general and guys who were, uh, behaving on
05:10and off the field.
05:12That could be anybody on that team.
05:14Right.
05:14And that's like cancer is the wrong word.
05:17We all agree.
05:18But when you're saying that there's a problem because this person or persons
05:24are not buying into the culture of what's going on in the clubhouse, the
05:28locker room, then you're basically saying we need to remove that person
05:32because people are going to listen to him.
05:35He's going to sway people.
05:36I get the Devers comparison, but I don't think Roman Anthony is at that was
05:41even close to being at a Devers point where there'd be a group of guys
05:45huddling around Roman going, you know what, Roman, you're right.
05:48You're right.
05:48We should have kept pregnant.
05:50Yeah.
05:50Why didn't we do that?
05:51You know, you're right.
05:52Why did they fire Alex Cora?
05:54You're right.
05:54I just don't think that Roman, I think Cora called this.
05:58Yeah.
05:58I think he was, he definitely said some things about the young guys.
06:01Like this definitely did.
06:03I'm sorry.
06:04They had to, they had to prove it or to earn that money.
06:07And I get where Cora's coming from.
06:10Do you think the organization and the teammates saw Roman Anthony do that
06:13interview with rope, with Rob Bradford, which was a great get by Brad
06:16where he talked about the finger, the TC ligament and the left ring finger
06:21and all that stuff.
06:22Do you think that rubbed them the wrong way?
06:24Guys that are playing through injuries, guys that like Trevor story, say what
06:28you will about him.
06:29I don't, I think he's a dink.
06:30He's trying to come back from a sports hernia in season.
06:33And he played with it for a while.
06:34Like, I'm sorry.
06:36I feel like they view this guy with 130 million and he's 22 years old saying,
06:39what the F are you talking about?
06:41But if they feel like that player is not a humble guy and walks around like
06:45he's better than everybody, but based on being down at spring training.
06:49Wiggy, why did he say this then?
06:50If it's so clear that we're saying, I roll this Chapman.
06:53Why did he say it?
06:54I told you, I told, I'm telling you, keep asking me the same question.
06:57I believe he said it because he's talking about those players that are currently
07:01on this roster in the clubhouse who are part of this team.
07:04In contrast to those that aren't.
07:06Who are part of this poor performance that they had for a number of months.
07:12And then finally were able to understand, here's how we have to do things better.
07:18So do you think there are guys that are currently playing for this team
07:22that were misbehaving off the field?
07:25I think that they weren't.
07:26And when you say misbehaving, I don't like know what that.
07:29Well, I'm just saying that's what he said.
07:31Yeah, so misbehaving.
07:32He was asked about.
07:33Can we play it again?
07:34Sure, we can play it again.
07:36He was asked about why the turnaround, and he said guys are behaving now
07:40on and off the field.
07:42What's this feel like?
07:43You've been around for a while, been a part of some streaks.
07:45What's this feel like?
07:46Yeah, no, just really happy.
07:49Really content about how the guys are playing,
07:52how everyone's behaving themselves on and off the field in here in the clubhouse.
07:59How they show up to the ballpark.
08:03I just really feel happy about the way that we've been playing during this streak.
08:09All right, so I could take that.
08:10When he says behaving themselves, how they show up to the ballpark means, like,
08:14are they doing everything when it comes to getting the swings in before the game?
08:18Are they watching the film that they need to be watching?
08:21Like, are they doing all those things off the field?
08:23Like, when they go home, are they studying?
08:25I don't know what baseball players do, but I don't think that he's specifically talking
08:30about two guys that basically had nothing to do with where you were in the season
08:37and where you are in the season today.
08:40One guy stunk before he got hurt.
08:42This is Curtis's lead, not my lead.
08:44Like, I'm reading a 978 text that says, biggest winning streak in years,
08:48and here you are trying to find a negative story.
08:51Greg, you're a joke.
08:52I'm not being negative.
08:54Curtis is a joke.
08:55Curtis is the joke.
08:57I mean, I believe, like, you know, and to the-
09:00Rachel Reiner hears this segment.
09:02Reiner's the hate it.
09:03I hope Jeremy Reiner doesn't hear this.
09:05No, forget about it.
09:06He was spot on on that tweet.
09:09What is wrong?
09:09I was on here this morning talking about how extraordinary this streak is.
09:17It's hard to find a comp for it.
09:19But what's going to get talked about more?
09:21The fact that now Chapman has basically not, you know, threw them under the bus.
09:27What could say dialogue-setting lead today?
09:29It is.
09:31Because Chapman is basically, in your world, Curtis, and I don't want to put words in your mouth.
09:35It's okay.
09:36The reason why we're performing better is we got these two-
09:40Ass clowns.
09:41Ass clowns.
09:42Jabronis.
09:43Whatever you want out of the clubhouse.
09:44Or at least we got one we sent him to Fort Myers.
09:46Right.
09:47The other one's still there.
09:48And Meyer, who is, we could deal with him, but we can't deal with Roman Anthony.
09:55Amen.
09:56Park City is crying with the absence of Roman Anthony.
10:00Big country in the Twitch chat, you guys are reading into this way too much.
10:04Okay, so what do you think, big country?
10:06Settle down, Curtis.
10:06But it's not the first time it's happened, and that's why I don't think you're reading
10:09into it too much, because between the IKF comments, Wilson Contreras at the All-Star
10:14break.
10:14Contreras said, you got to, we have to play those comments again as well, Sean.
10:18Great point.
10:19Put your head in the sand and enjoy it down there, or you can live in the real world.
10:22Yeah, but the IKF, though, we can't now all of a sudden now, because Chapman said something,
10:28go spin it back to, everybody was beating the drum on, it was the nerds that were in
10:33the clubhouse for driveline.
10:34Yeah, because we had no idea.
10:36I mean, so we were guessing.
10:38I mean, that's all anybody ever does, is guess.
10:41So now, the reason, the reason for the-
10:44Are you new to this, Wiggs?
10:45No, no.
10:45The reason for the bad, but I don't, the reason for the bad performance was that, so now,
10:51You're now taking it literally.
10:53No, no, no.
10:53So Roman Anthony and Marcelo Meyer and IKFs, based on what he's saying-
10:57And Wilson Contreras.
10:58Had way too many of their entourage around Fenway Park.
11:03Yeah, they had a massive headache for no contribution.
11:06All right.
11:07And then when they were on the road, they didn't generally travel.
11:09Right.
11:09So that's why there was no issues, or Roman Anthony didn't travel.
11:13Text from Western Massachusetts on the Subaru of New England text line, this is exactly what
11:18Jeremy Reiner was talking about.
11:20You guys are always looking for something negative.
11:24Oh, draft.
11:25And then they go on to say, especially Jones and Keith, very negative.
11:28I have to say, was the tweet by Jeremy Reiner about the team, or about what people would
11:33be talking about the team?
11:34Because he's kind of just like sports radio.
11:36We have to get Reiner on.
11:37We're going to have to get Reiner on this morning.
11:38Are we going to get the game rained out?
11:39We should bet lunch.
11:40I was going to say, yes, you should bet lunch on that.
11:43We're going to get going.
11:43I don't know.
