00:00Craig Breslow spoke to Alex Spear and Tom Caron about not sitting back in free agency and making

00:08sure they do their best to improve their team for the future. Here was Craig Breslow.

00:12I think you could argue we took a step forward, which means we're closer. But I said it the other

00:18day in the end of the season wrap up. I think there's real danger in thinking that because we

00:22took a step forward from 24 to 25, if we just roll this back, we'll take another step forward

00:27coming out of 25 and heading into 26. We need to look for ways to improve the team.

00:33We have to put all of the options in front of us, those being looking at free agency and external

00:41additions via free agency, looking at trade opportunities, looking at some of the minor

00:46transactions like minor league trades, waiver claims, and then also continue to push the

00:52development of our players internally. I think it gets more and more difficult to take that next

01:00step the closer you get to where you want to go. But it's incredibly important, right? The value of

01:08winning a handful more games could be the difference between winning the division or not.

01:14Okay. I like that. Okay, Bresbott. We're going to hold you to your word on this. And so I want

01:20Pete Alonzo. If you have the Devers money and you're going to be aggressive, then I would take

01:28Andy Diaz, but I want Pete Alonzo. And then I want you to trade Jaron Duran and go get me a number

01:35two starter. And then the sky's the limit when it comes to this baseball team. And whatever you do,

01:41it seems like you've backed yourself into a corner now where you have to do things

01:47that really move the needle. Because if not, you know, when he comes on here, we're going to ask

01:52him. And listen, he did it last off season. Like he should get credit when it comes to Bregman,

01:59whether whatever ends up happening with Alex Bregman, they went out and they got him and they

02:03paid him. And we gave them credit. And Garrett Crochet too. Yes, Curtis. Sorry. What? But can we stop

02:09saying they have to do something or else? We literally said they have to reinvest the money

02:15that they got off the books in the Devers trade in season and they did nothing. How many years in a

02:21row have we said they have to spend? Ken and I do it every single off season. Right. But we did it

02:26last year to Greg's point and they did it. Now, maybe during the season, they didn't do it because

02:30they thought that some of those young guys that they had, they didn't want to give up as much

02:36for, but you know, I believe that they were in on Joe Ryan. But we asked Sam Kennedy and

02:41Heim and Heimblum and Craig Breslow during the season, are you going to reinvest? There was

02:46remember that period where Sam Kennedy and Craig Breslow were on Nessun like 12 days in a row after

02:51the trade saying they were going to reinvest the money and they didn't. So, I mean, they have to,

02:55they should, but I don't, I don't believe a hundred percent that they will.
