Its MLB Trade Deadline Day! Red Sox have not lost a series in a month. Are you "buying in"? Are the Red Sox buying? Who are the Sox targeting today? Pitching? Could it be a middle infielder? Is Zach Neto on the table? Did Boston Red Sox actually offer for Elly De La Cruz? Who is on the way?

00:00And maybe it's just a moonshot, but try to go out and get Hunter Goodman, for instance.
00:08That's terrific.
00:09That'd be great if they did that.
00:10Yeah, but you're going to have β
00:11With Duran, though.
00:12I'm talking about Jaron Duran.
00:13I know, but you don't want Jaron β you don't want Jaron Duran gone.
00:17Like, so who are you giving them β
00:19No, all I'm saying is β I'm not saying β what I'm saying is that what he did the other
00:24night,
00:25all of a sudden doesn't get him kicked off the team, get him away from here as fast as we
00:29can,
00:30because obviously the team's doing pretty well, and he's a major part of it,
00:34whether you like it or not.
00:35He's one of the nine that's out there.
00:36Well, do you think the Red Sox got better after they traded Nomar Garcia-Para?
00:41What does that have to do with Jaron Duran, dude?
00:43You're talking about the roster.
00:44What does Nomar Garcia-Para have to do with Jaron Duran?
00:48TC, follow along.
00:49I'm talking about Jaron Duran.
00:50You're talking about the team.
00:50Follow along with me.
00:51I'm not talking about Garcia-Para.
00:53I'm talking about Duran.
00:54All right, so you don't want β
00:55Wait, you don't think that there are really successful β
00:57You don't want to comment to me telling you Duran's a top 20 RBI guy in the American League.
01:02Yeah, I know.
01:02I can no response from you.
01:03Do you want him shipped out of town?
01:04TC, you just started a question.
01:05I'm trying to answer it, and then you jump back in in two seconds.
01:08So I'm trying to answer your question.
01:10I didn't have a question.
01:10I need statements about Jaron Duran.
01:11And I'm telling you that Jaron Duran, it is possible to have a team that is really successful
01:15with players that they would still be better without.
01:22Maybe they would.
01:23But all I'm talking about is the fact that Jaron Duran is a laughingstock of the team.
01:29People act like he's holding them back, and they're the best team in baseball, and he's
01:34one of the nine guys that goes out there every day and plays.
01:37All right, so when it comes to those β
01:38Teammates obviously don't mind.
01:40Listen, when it comes to those nine, 10, 11, whatever, however you want to call it, you
01:47don't want to part with any of those guys.
01:48I get it.
01:49So I β
01:50I'm not talking about any of those guys.
01:52I'm focused on Jaron Duran.
01:52You're just talking about Jaron Duran.
01:54You love Jaron Duran.
01:55The talk of the town has been him throwing his arms up and doing a stupid thing the other
01:59night.
01:59Flipping the fans off.
02:01The moral of the story is, is if he went up to Contreras and the third base coach and
02:05said, guys, you know I do stupid things sometimes.
02:08I'm sorry I showed yous up, but let's go win ballgames.
02:11We are not β we're not on SiriusXM and swearing until September 1st.
02:15Right.
02:15He don't like Jaron Duran because he swears at people.
02:18So what β
02:18I get where TC is coming from, though.
02:20We started off by talking about the Will Fleming, like, walk back a bit.
02:23And to TC's point β and this is why I brought up the mental health thing at the beginning
02:27of the show on Friday β I think when you have a player like that, whether you agree
02:31with what he's done or not, but you know his personality and you know things he's been
02:35through, guys are going to have his back.
02:37Right.
02:37And that's β that was going to become a topic of conversation, and I think Will Fleming
02:41is a perfect example of somebody who called him out in the moment, then thought about
02:45it, whether he was talked to or not, and then kind of had to walk it back after.
02:49So that's why the team is supporting him.
02:51Chad Tracy all weekend long, players, anybody that's asked about him.
02:54I think that's β what TC was saying was not about the trade deadline and more about
02:59how this team is supporting him.
03:00Let's go back to the tape and watch Wilson Contreras when he hasn't been told what to
03:05say or hasn't had a conversation.
03:07What did his face tell you in the dugout after Duran's antics in that game?
03:11It was like, stop talking to me.
03:12You're hitting 193.
03:14Yeah, he was upset.
03:15Like, what are you talking about?
03:16And, of course, those guys β I'm sure those guys would say they love Connelly
03:22early and wish Connelly early β if they love a guy, that doesn't matter to me.
03:26Like, what does that have to do with what they need to do to get to the World Series?
03:31The team without Devers was far better.
03:34Devers was talented, the best hitter on the team.
03:37Like, we don't have to go back to Nomar.
03:39We can go to last year.
03:40But it seemed like Devers was more of an issue in the clubhouse than Duran.
03:44It seems like a lot of his teammates β and this is just me listening to Brad phone.
03:48He knows a lot more than I do, you know, when it comes to what's going on in the clubhouse.
03:53He says that a lot of those guys in the clubhouse really, really like Duran.
03:58Has Duran performed at a level that he should be?
04:00No.
04:01So if you want to trade him and you want to get an upgrade because of the production
04:05that you're not getting from that position, no issues with that at all.
04:11But if you feel like, well, we got other positions that we would prefer to upgrade
04:17and Duran is, you know, what's he, you know, top five on your team
04:22when it comes to hitting home runs.
04:23If they feel like, all right, his production isn't there, but he's a good teammate.
04:29He's athletic. He gives us some type of β he gives us something on this baseball team.
04:36And if everybody likes him and you're not able to get nothing for him,
04:40then you can't just ship him up for nothing unless you think that we're just β
04:46what is it, DFA him and say, hey, to hell with him.
04:48But it don't seem like that.
04:49It seems like they like him and they think that he has some type of talent.
04:53Yeah, I believe it was Bob Nightingale last night who said that they weren't going to do anything
04:56with him at the trade deadline.
04:57They may do something with him in the offseason.
05:00But you're going to see Jaron Duran on this Red Sox team for the remainder of the season.
05:03Right, because they must believe there's some talent there that he just β
05:07he hasn't been able to unlock yet.
05:11And, you know, if they feel like shortstop is more of a position of need right now
05:16and we can get away with Duran, then he's a well-liked guy.
05:21And in that moment, I bet Contreras couldn't stand them.
05:24But, you know, they heated a moment, passion.
05:26When people say things, as long as you apologize afterwards, that's the thing that matters most to me as a
05:31teammate.
05:32Well, you need him out there anyway because Shine wants to get rid of Roman Anthony.
05:36So, that's β
05:37Greg, I just think that there's a good chance that he would get traded today.
05:41Who knows?
05:41Who's that, Roman Anthony?
05:42Yeah, I think it's more likely than, like, Franklin Arias getting dealt.
05:47After what he's been doing in AAA lately, he's been absolutely raking.
05:51You think it's more likely that Roman Anthony gets dealt?
05:55I don't know, Greg.
05:56You hear all the stuff that has come out, you know, off-the-field stuff, all those possible rumors.
06:02What off-the-field stuff?
06:02There's no off-the-field stuff.
06:04What do you mean?
06:04We've been talking about it for months now.
06:06Since he β the comments made by his teammates, like, look, I'm just saying, don't be shocked if he gets
06:12traded.
06:12That's all.
06:13I wouldn't be shocked.
06:14I wouldn't be either, Wiggins.
06:15Roman Anthony got traded today?
06:16I would be shocked.
06:18Same.
06:19One guy hit one home run when he was healthy.
06:22The other one's got 14.
06:24The other one is β
06:24One guy's got $130 million in his contract.
06:27Of course.
06:28He's 22 years old.
06:28He's one of the great prospects at baseball.
06:30The other guy's swearing at fans.
06:32No, no, no.
06:32But I don't know if they necessarily β
06:35Put them in the same category as lappable.
06:37No, no.
06:37You're just β
06:38But Saran is cheap, and they can get rid of him whenever they want.
06:41But do you think they look at Roman Anthony and go, hmm, was he worth that money we gave him?
06:47I think they might be a little bit by his remorse.
06:50No, I don't think they do at all.
06:51I believe they do.
06:53I think they might be like, uh-uh.
06:56There's not a chance in hell they trade Roman Anthony today.
06:59Not one.
07:00I don't know.
07:01When we asked about him β
07:02I wouldn't be shocked if you see, like, a C.J. Abrams, Roman Anthony type trade.
07:05Right.
07:06When you β
07:06Somebody asked about it when Bresbot was on on Thursday, and he didn't β he wasn't like β
07:11Yeah.
07:12He definitely did not rule it out.
07:13Right.
07:14So, I don't know β
07:15That was that idea, Curtis.
07:16I don't know.
07:18What?
07:18Somebody asked β
07:19We did not ask specifically about Roman Anthony.
07:22I said, is Roman Anthony β is there anybody β is Roman Anthony untouchable to some degree?
07:26He said nobody's untouchable, but I didn't read that as if he's trading him today.
07:30No, I'm not saying he's going to get traded, but it wouldn't shock me because I don't know if they
07:36still feel the same way about Roman Anthony that we all did at the beginning of the season.
07:41I think that can be true, but that also doesn't mean you trade him at his absolute low point when
07:46he's hurt and he's, you know, at the Homewood.
07:48But let's say that β was it Kansas City Royals, right?
07:51Bobby Wood Jr., right?
07:52Yep.
07:52Yep.
07:52Let's say they say, hey, we want Roman Anthony.
07:55Oh, I'd do it.
07:56Of course.
07:56So, that's to β I think to β maybe I'm not going to put words in Chimes mode, but that's
08:00the way I look at it.
08:01I don't think they look at Roman Anthony as this, like, this savior of the Red Sox organization and the
08:07next face of baseball where he's untouchable.
08:09I think if the right opportunity presents itself or the right deal presents itself, they'd be like, go ahead, take
08:15him.
08:16Do you think a lot of teams would present that opportunity right now, though?
08:19I think, yeah, I think there's a portion of teams out there that believe that Roman Anthony β you know
08:23how the baseball β
08:23And he just got hurt.
08:24Like, they don't think that there's anything else other than the fact that he just got hurt.
08:28Yeah, they just brought up off-field stuff.
08:29No, I know.
08:30Because we hear it all the time.
08:32I'm just saying, like, there may be other teams in Major League Baseball, though, that just think, oh, he just
08:36got hurt.
08:36Like, it is what it is.
08:37Look at Durbin.
08:39Brez bought β I saw something β he was talking about Durbin on social media about how before that they
08:45β once they got him in the deal, like, how he was a guy who just never got his opportunity
08:49and this and that and the other.
08:51And so there are teams out there that probably feel the same way around Roman Anthony.
08:55Like, oh, he just got hurt.
08:57I just think it's such a risk if you're Craig Breslow and you trade Roman Anthony at this state.
09:02Like, if he turns into anything like what you think he could have been when you gave him $130 million,
09:08you got nothing for him.
09:09No, that's true.
09:10But if you don't and you have β if you have the opportunity to get, like, a caliber of, like,
09:16Bobby Wood Jr.
09:17And you don't, and then Roman Anthony doesn't turn into that, then you're sitting there and people are going, well,
09:23why the hell wouldn't you have β
09:24it's no different than what we do right now with Brad Stevens and not him throwing Hugo Gonzalez into the
09:32deal or shy him in to get you Giannis.
09:34Like, why didn't you do that at the time?
09:37I just think they understand that players get injured this season and he got hurt last season.
09:43Doesn't mean that you're soft and that they're β you know, in World Baseball Classic time, everybody was talking about
09:51him being the face of the game.
09:54Like, I don't think their opinions changed on that.
09:57I mean, they're the ones who didn't do him any favors when it came to the injury thing and to
10:03talking about him being back in 10 days.
10:05Yeah, but think about β
10:06Without knowing what the injury was.
10:07Think about this.
10:08Think about this, Greg.
10:10Roman Anthony has been here what?
10:12Like, on the major league team?
10:14A year and a half?
10:15Yes.
10:15He's dealt with three injuries or four.
10:19And his production hasn't been so great other than the World Baseball Classic where you go, okay, he's worth it.
10:28He had β what was it?
10:30The low back last year?
10:31Yeah, that's what he β all he's had is the lower back and the finger.
10:34And the finger.
10:35And didn't he also have β didn't he have something else with his, like, stomach or something?
10:42Like, or his oblique or something, too?
10:45You're thinking of Courtney and the butt thing.
10:48Yeah, still dealing with β
10:49You're still dealing with that?
10:51Yeah.
10:51Oh, boy.
10:52I'm not feeling good this morning, I'll tell you that.
10:54Well, you know, you could stand up.
10:57I've been standing, I've been sitting, the bathroom situation running.
11:00I'm sitting on a donut right now.
11:03Don't waste a good donut.
11:04Oh, God, Greg's mad.
11:05I was wondering why he was salivating.
11:07It is debilitating.
11:09Oh, God.
11:10It's okay.
11:11What you women go through.
11:12A warrior.
11:12I mean, really?
11:13No, it's fine.
11:13We cannot understand it.
11:14Well, men can also get these.
11:15Oh, they can't.
11:16So, it's more of a PSA that this could happen to your bum hole as well.
11:21Good.
11:22Greg, by the way, Wiggy Wright again.
11:25In August 4th of last year, Roman Anthony missed time due to lower back discomfort.
11:30September 3rd, placed on 10-day IL with left oblique strain.
11:35Okay.
11:36So, there's a guy that.
11:37Because he swings like an absolute.
