The Tobago People's Party named thirteen candidates on Tuesday night and is deliberating again for the Buccoo/Mt Pleasant and Mason Hall/Moriah seats. This from TPP leader Farley Augustine who made the announcement on Monday night. More in this Elizabeth Williams report.
00:00Let me say from the job that Mason Moriah and Boku Mon Pleasant, we are not prepared to declare a prospective candidate just yet.
00:10We still have ongoing screens, and to tell you, today, six individuals will screen today,
00:18because even as we continue to consider the existing nominees between Mason Moriah and Boku Mon Pleasant,
00:27we did open up the process for members of the public, for members of the district, to offer themselves and to be considered.
00:37And many are in fact availing themselves of that opportunity, and so we are going through this to ensure we,
00:44when we pick the candidate, we pick the best candidate.
00:47In the Bon Accord Crown Point and Lambeau Lowlands districts,
00:51The party has settled on the prospective candidate for Bon Accord Crown Point, being Mr. Nikita Kulisi.
00:59In Lambeau Lowlands, we had one submission, and we did some investigations.
01:07We sought to see if there were others wishing to submit, but tonight we are comfortable resting on Wayne Clark.
01:17In the Signal Hill Patience Hill District, incumbent Nigel Tate was selected again,
01:22while Assemblyman Pastor Terence Baines was not chosen for the Betel Newgrange seat.
01:28Assemblyman Niall George also was not chosen for the Plymouth Black Rock seat this time around.
01:34In Bethel Newgrange, we have ten contenders in this field, and tonight the party has decided that we will go with Mr. Darren Henry for Bethel Newgrange.
01:50In Plymouth Black Rock, we have three contenders in Plymouth Black Rock, and in that district, we are going with a new candidate block in the person of Mr. Curran Iacis.
