Transcript
00:00Here's your breakdown of what to watch in THR's Now Screening.
00:03First, THR's chief TV critic Daniel Feinberg has his pick of what you should check out.
00:08Peter Morgan's The Crown returns on Sunday for its fourth season,
00:12and the Netflix drama remains as good as traditional prestige TV gets.
00:17It's smart, carefully arced, and beautifully produced,
00:20picking up Queen Elizabeth II's story in the late 1970s.
00:24We are the same age after all. Really? Just six months between us. Oh? And who is the senior? I am.
00:34Expect lots of talk to focus on Gillian Anderson's performance as Margaret Thatcher,
00:39and surely it's a big and busy and blustery performance.
00:42But the season's best new addition, without any question for me, is Emma Corrin as Lady Diana.
00:48The young actress traces Diana from callow young woman to a princess increasingly aware of her power
00:54in the public eye, and it's a star-making turn.
00:57Her work with Josh O'Connor as Prince Charles is the season's centerpiece.
01:02All I want is to be loved. It's all any of us want from you.
01:07Thanks, Daniel. Also on Netflix, if you're looking for a quick binge
01:10and something to get you in the holiday spirit, the Christmas series Dash and Lily is now streaming.
01:15You asked how this time of year makes me feel, so I know you'll understand when I say...
01:20He hates Christmas!
01:22Get out of my room!
01:23It's the most detestable time of the year.
01:25Midori Francis and Austin Abrams star as two New York City teens
01:29who spark a romance while passing a notebook back and forth at locations all across the city that never sleeps during the heart of the holiday season.
01:36They told THR what drew them to the show.
01:39What made you want to be a part of this show?
01:41Well, for me as my character, Lily was so smart and so verbose.
01:46Honestly, she had a lot of who I was at that age in her, and I was like, oh, I have to give this a go.
01:55Yeah, for me, I felt like there was a good story there. I also really liked the producers.
02:02Plus, season two of His Dark Materials premieres on HBO on Monday, November 16th.
02:07Lin-Manuel Miranda told THR what fans can expect from the new season.
02:11The big word for this is just more. There are more witches, there are more adventures, and the quest just gets bigger because we start to traverse the multiverse.
02:20Until the next Now Screening, I'm Tiffany Taylor for The Hollywood Reporter News.
