00:00Here's your breakdown of what to watch this weekend in THR's now screening.
00:03First, here are THR's chief TV critic Daniel Feinberg's picks of what you should check out.
00:08Several of the weekend's best-reviewed shows actually premiered earlier in the week,
00:12so your best bet may be catching up on Netflix's coming-of-age comedy Never Have I Ever
00:17or Hulu's Irish romantic drama Normal People.
00:20If something happened to us, no one would have to know.
00:23The weekend's big new premieres are a mixed lot, not necessarily wholly satisfying,
00:27but generally boasting promising elements.
00:30Upload, from creator Greg Daniels, is a smart and funny satire about capitalism
00:35and the possibility of a digital afterlife, but it's also a less effective murder mystery.
00:39Watch for the jokes and for breakout co-star Andy Allo.
00:43Yes!
00:44It's 10am. Breakfast is over.
00:47No! It's not even real food!
00:49Dude guy, coming through.
00:50Ryan Murphy in Ian Brennan's Hollywood is too simplistic to work as an alt-history
00:55about progressive moviemaking after World War II.
00:57So be sure to augment the flimsy plot by reading up on the real history,
01:01and then you can enjoy the wonderful performances from the likes of Joe Mantello,
01:05Patti LuPone, Samara Weaving, and especially Jeremy Pope,
01:09plus Jim Parsons wickedly leaving his Sheldon Cooper image behind.
01:14I am not just a star.
01:17I am a star maker.
01:19Thanks, Daniel. I spoke to Jim Parsons, who plays real-life star-making agent Henry
01:23Wilson about why you should watch Hollywood.
01:25It's a beautiful, glamorous, romantic place to sit into for seven episodes.
01:32Also on Netflix, if you're a fan of Riverdale, catch Veronica Lodge actress
01:35Camila Mendez starring in the streamer's original film, Dangerous Lies.
01:39Shh, don't move. Someone's in the house.
01:44But that's not all. The Netflix original movie,
01:46All Day and a Night, starring Jeffrey Wright and Ashton Sanders, is also now streaming.
01:50Your father wanted everything for you. And now you have a son and you ain't even gonna try.
01:57Until next week's Now Screening, I'm Tiffany Taylor for The Hollywood Reporter News.
