00:00Here's your breakdown of what to watch this weekend in THR's now screening.
00:04First, THR's chief TV critic Daniel Feinberg has his picks of what you should check out.
00:08You might be looking for something with more sizzle, but the best thing to watch on TV this
00:12weekend is Sunday's fifth season premiere of CNN's United Shades of America with W. Kamau Bell.
00:19The extra-long premiere finds Bell returning to the topic of white supremacy as a visit to
00:25Pittsburgh lets him explore systemic inequality, anti-Semitism, and our particular moment of
00:31pandemic and protest. It will educate you, move you, and because Bell is still a comic at heart,
00:38it will occasionally make you laugh. The second episode, focusing on small farmers and generation
00:43wealth, is also tremendous. But look, if you're trying to find escapism, I understand, and United
00:48Shades of America probably won't do it for you. So check out Netflix's imperfect revisionist King
00:55Arthur prequel, Cursed. Catherine Langford, so good on 13 Reasons Why, plays Nimue, a young woman with a
01:02particular set of skills, and if you know the lore, a destiny involving a lake and a sword.
01:09Take this to Marlon.
01:13I promised her. Arthur, and we'll keep that promise.
01:19Cursed gets a little hung up on Arthurian Easter eggs, and sometimes forgets that it's supposed to be
01:24the story of the women on the fringe of the story that we think we know. But when it concentrates
01:30on those heroines, it's entertaining, fantastical, good sword and sandals material. Langford is solid,
01:36and I loved the supporting performances from the likes of Shalom Brune Franklin, Emily Coates,
01:42Polly Walker, and especially Lily Newmark, who steals every scene she's in.
01:48Thanks, Daniel. I spoke to the stars of Cursed, and they told me why you'll love their new show.
01:52If you love action, if you love fantasy, if you love historical epic pieces, this is going to be
01:59right up your alley. I think people love the show because it's epic, it's fantasy, it's a journey where
02:05you get lost and you embrace every character within it. And I'm excited for people to discover
02:12new and exciting forms of these characters that we've known for generations.
02:16Also on Netflix, the original film Fatal Affair, starring Nia Long, Stephen Bishop,
02:21and Omar Epps, is now streaming.
02:23Good morning.
02:25Ellie.
02:26David, hi. It's been a long time, huh?
02:2920 years. We should catch up.
02:31Until the next Now Screening, I'm Tiffany Taylor for The Hollywood Reporter News.
