01:25for 20-year-old shandon floyd to come back home in good health amiso floyd says her daughter was last
01:32seen november 8th at the roadway in in northeast columbia when she drove a man to a store around
01:39three that morning shandon is a transgender woman and may have been targeted watch fox news reached
01:48out to the richland county sheriff's department for more information regarding the case and we're told
01:53they are investigating at this time
02:01howdy hey vicky i just want to let you know that officers searched the area where shandon's phone
02:08last pinged and they didn't find anything at all oh that's so frustrating i know it feels like we're back
02:15at square one we've got michael edie lending his vehicle to shandon then this unidentified male
02:22following shandon to the car and the car hasn't hit block cameras or any cameras at all
02:28dang but the hotel called and they have some new video so i'm going to go check that out i also have
02:36some questions about the details of the room reservation hopefully there will be something we can follow up
02:41on okay we really need a break in this case
03:04the girl that's missing arrived with an older male do you know which room they were in
03:09they had two rooms here 117 and 124 and they are coming kind of group or something a whole group of
03:17people yeah and did that same person rent 124 and 117 online booking both under same name michael edie
03:27could we see the new video you found
03:39okay she's alone
03:40that's the guy that gets in the car with her
03:57wait a minute i know this guy he came back next afternoon around 1 30 and i think you need to pay late
04:06check out which room when he says 201 can i see um the late checkout okay he's right there it's the same guy
04:18he paid cash when he checked in then he came back and paid my car so you're sure he came back alone
04:25uh-huh is that his name on the computer okay perfect
04:38i wasn't expecting that did they know each other is it somebody she met or have they ever met at that
04:44hotel before but i think if we find this mystery guy we're going to probably find shannon
04:58uh-huh
05:04he was in texas when he went to audition for the bad boys club
05:08i was following him on social media platforms snap instagram facebook
05:32every 10 15 minutes he posts up
05:35so when i woke up that friday morning i was like i ain't heard from my baby since wednesday
05:43so i started calling him and then i looked on social media it said 21 hours and i was like uh-uh
05:56as a parent you're not supposed to have favorites but you know on the low he kind of my favorite
06:05when he got to college he came out he posted a picture on social media and he had on this little
06:12skirt it had some little braids in his head i was like what what a minute what is is this my baby
06:20so that's what he told me you know i said i don't love you any less
06:26it even drew me closer because it was like now i have the daughter that i always wanted
06:35i finally got my girl
06:36so we go to the hotel we speak to the clerk and she says yeah michael edie rented two rooms online
06:57117 and 124. there was a lot of people going into those rooms like a group of people okay have the
07:04rooms been cleaned and given out to other customers yeah okay what we did discover going back and watching
07:09video when shandon leaves following behind he has a person that rented room 201 the same guy that got
07:18into the car with her i'm very concerned that shandon's a victim of something in that area there's
07:24lots of hotels we've done stings it could just be kids partying but it could be sex work
07:32if he was there as a buyer and he discovered that she's trans she could be in a really bad
07:39situation he could hurt her i'm gonna call mr edy and try to get more information if you want to
07:44find out what you can about the man at the hotel i'm gonna go check the sex ads and see if she's in there
08:11oh my god
08:15i'm trying to get in touch with michael edie but he does not answer
08:30so right now there's 15 600 ads that's we need to narrow this down a little bit more
08:38we can put shandon's picture in there and see if it something comes back to a match
08:42a match let's look around two-notch road how about that
08:50tell me if you see something that looks like it could be her
08:53he's not answering but i'm gonna call um the mom
09:05and see if i can get more clarification
09:13oh no that look at that that looks very similar that looks so much like her look even the eyes the nose
09:19that looks the same like kind of lips
09:23hi miss floyd hey how are you i just had a question do you know mr edie personally
09:30no ma'am i can't get him to answer his phone that's definitely her
09:38the exact same hair uh-huh even the little wispies there oh yeah the last ad was posted
09:44from near that same hotel on the day that she became missing that's concerning especially because
09:51you have like one every day and then all of a sudden there's no more
09:55howdy looking through the sex ads we found shandon it looks just like her wow
10:06and the post stopped after she goes missing there's no more posts after that oh
10:14hey sarge uh-huh i got the criminal history of the man seen with chandon
10:18three charges for kidnapping that he pled to strong-arm robbery disorderly conduct resisting
10:27arrests threats to life and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature
10:33pretty much all felonies we have gotten to find him
10:36so we found an extensive criminal history for the man seen with shannon at the hotel
10:51but he has no fixed address we need to try to locate a phone number for him check his social media
10:58we really need to find him kirwin if you can run michael edie through the system see what we can find
11:03out about him also the family's on their way in apparently they went to the hotel and were allowed
11:11to view the video and they were also given the name of the man shandon left with
11:18oh my gosh hello i'm sergeant reigns i spoke to you on the phone and this is investigator curlewell
11:34there's a conference room down this way where we can all set so if you guys want to come this way
11:39so
11:48I can't even imagine what all of you guys are going through.
11:50I can't imagine.
11:51Like, that's, it's very worrisome.
11:53You talk to him every day and he's, you're learning all these new things and nobody's
11:58answering their phone.
11:58Like, it's, I mean, it's concerning for sure.
12:02It's just not adding up.
12:10So I understand you guys got information from the hotel?
12:14So with the guy, I was like, we need to find out.
12:18Who this motherfucker is.
12:20So I did my own little thing because I live here.
12:25He's supposed to have a brother.
12:27I found out where his girlfriend works.
12:30So she was like, what's going on?
12:32I said, well, listen, my cousin's missing.
12:34We're trying to figure out where he's at.
12:36Bring him home safe.
12:37And she called his brother.
12:40And I was, I was recording.
12:42By any chance, do you know where your brother is located?
12:48My little cousin is missing.
12:50He's driving around and been missing since Wednesday.
12:53Who, who, who are you waiting for?
12:55I'm from South Carolina.
12:58Okay, but we don't know you.
13:00That's not the point.
13:02We've been searching and looking.
13:04We're just trying to find our cousin and bring him home safe.
13:07My cousin gave them a ride.
13:09And from him giving the ride, he came back to the hotel room.
13:13But my cousin didn't.
13:15So, you think I give a fuck?
13:18No, what are you calling me?
13:19Why the fuck are you calling me?
13:22You better get me to be, you goddamn listen.
13:25Damn, I'm gone, man.
13:27I thought they got shit to do with this.
13:28I'm going to wear my home safe, that motherfucking ball.
13:31Well, we're not worried about the car, sir.
13:33We're just worried about my cousin.
13:35I don't have no reason to come do this.
13:37Man, you just out here by your motherfucking cell.
13:40I'm on the fucking charlotte.
13:44Well, that's concerning.
13:52Is there any other information that would be helpful to this investigation?
13:56Shandon has my dad's bank card, and we noticed that people have been spending money.
14:03We had to cancel the whole count out.
14:05You mean during dismissing time?
14:07Dismissing time.
14:08We'll look into it and any other card Shandon had.
14:19Did anything come back on Michael Eady?
14:21He came back with some minor things, but nothing suspicious that showing that he was
14:26going to be involved in this.
14:29Okay, let's concentrate on the man at the hotel.
14:32So, a very important part that we didn't know anything about was Shandon's cousin decided
14:38to confront the man's brother.
14:41What was important about the voice clips that she gave us was the brother says,
14:48the faggot needs to be missing.
14:50The worry is, if he feels that way, maybe the man Shandon went with feels the same.
14:59Howdy, we had a report about a card Shandon was carrying.
15:17It was used at a gas station.
15:18I'm going to send an investigator out there to see if they can get the video
15:21and see who's using that card.
15:23Okay.
15:24So, there's the car.
15:422015 Chrysler.
15:51Well, that's the man from the hotel.
15:53He's wearing the same t-shirt.
15:55Is that a girl with him?
15:57Why is she getting out the back seat?
15:58Right.
15:59Why is she not in the front passenger seat?
16:03Somebody's in that front seat.
16:04He's with a white female.
16:11Let's see if we can identify her.
16:21She's using one of the cards Shandon had to check out.
16:26And they're declining the card.
16:28You know, wouldn't you walk back out to the car and say, hey, your card's not working?
16:35And she isn't.
16:39The deputy said that the clerk said, why are you holding the door open while trying to use the card?
16:45And they said, oh, because we have somebody that's passed out in the car and we're just trying to keep an eye on them.
16:49You can't see who's in the car because the windows are so tennant.
16:55But that's the car that she left in.
16:59So, if she's in the front passenger seat, why is she not getting out?
17:13I found the car.
17:19It's right at the top of Region 6.
17:27It was headed southbound.
17:34Hey, flock hit.
17:36All right.
17:38Listen.
17:38In Ridgeway.
17:40At least we know it's moving.
17:42That's good news.
17:44Yeah.
17:44We need to head out there and get whatever available law enforcement to check for this vehicle.
17:49I'm so hopeful.
18:08All units be on the lookout for a black Chrysler 200 last seen on Ridgeway Road heading south.
18:14Let's go.
18:18Oh my God.
18:22Oh my God.
18:32Black Chrysler park on two dots.
18:35Officer investigating.
18:36I don't know.
19:06Central 742.
19:29Can I get a 52-ton location for a possible 10-7?
19:36Female?
19:41Yeah, she's gone.
19:43Yeah, he's got...
20:05Yeah, he's got rigor.
20:10The mom is going to be devastated.
20:14I'm going to estimate the time of death six days ago.
20:18It's so sad, but they've just been driving around with him in that car.
20:31Do you think so?
20:32Yeah.
20:33Oh, because...
20:34Mm-hmm.
20:35Because at the gas station, they got out of the driver's side.
20:37And if the estimated time of death was six days ago, he was probably dead in that passenger's
20:42side the whole time.
20:45Yeah.
20:46Can you tell the cars are dead?
20:48Not yet.
20:49And they've just been driving around with him like that?
20:53Same.
20:54Yeah.
20:55Yeah.
20:56Yeah.
20:57Yeah.
20:58Yeah.
20:59Yeah.
21:00Yeah.
21:01Yeah.
21:02Yeah.
21:03Yeah.
21:04Yeah.
21:05Yeah.
21:06Yeah.
21:07Yeah.
21:08Yeah.
21:09Yeah.
21:10Yeah.
21:11Yeah.
21:12Yeah.
21:13Yeah.
21:14Yeah.
21:15Yeah.
21:16Yeah.
21:17Yeah.
21:18Yeah.
21:19Yeah.
21:20Yeah.
21:21Hey, this is Sergeant Raines.
21:25I'm just checking to see if a report is back
21:27on a located missing person.
21:31Floyd.
21:40Wow.
21:51Thank you so much.
21:56All right.
21:57Bye-bye.
22:01Oh, my gosh.
22:02It's just very sad overdose.
22:04He has so much drugs in his system.
22:08Yeah, it's a lot at once.
22:10Meth, cocaine, fentanyl, and a whole plethora of drugs.
22:16But the meth surprised me.
22:18Typically, you either do meth or you do cocaine.
22:22Those two drugs don't typically mix.
22:27So did he do that willingly or not willingly?
22:36Did we get anywhere with identifying the female passenger?
22:40So we actually got a hit on her.
22:42She's been picked up on some other charges.
22:48All right.
22:49You got anything on you?
22:50Yeah, I ain't got you.
22:51Nothing to hide.
22:52Let's go in here.
22:57We got drugs on you.
22:58You want to tell you?
22:59You want to tell you?
23:02Oh, that's ice.
23:04Now you are under arrest.
23:06Give me a lawyer.
23:07Yep.
23:09OK.
23:10We need to get her in here and see if we can find out what she knows about this.
23:13So do you know Shandon Floyd?
23:34I don't know this person.
23:35I've never met this person.
23:36I've never even seen this person.
23:37I've never even seen this person.
23:39Do you know where that car is?
23:41No.
23:43Were you ever in that car?
23:45Maybe.
23:47This is you at the gas station and you just got out of that car.
23:48And this is the driver of the vehicle.
23:49You get out of the back driver's side.
23:50So who's in the front passenger seat?
23:51I don't know if there was anybody in the front seat.
23:52So why wasn't you sitting in the front passenger seat?
23:53I don't know if there was anybody in the front seat.
23:54So why wasn't you sitting in the front passenger seat?
24:03It wasn't.
24:04And this is a picture of you.
24:06This is you at the gas station and you just got out of that car.
24:09And this is the driver of the vehicle.
24:11You get out of the back driver's side.
24:14So who's in the front passenger seat?
24:16I don't know if there was anybody in the front seat.
24:17So why wasn't you sitting in the front passenger seat?
24:19I don't know if there was anybody in the front seat.
24:22And this is a picture of you using the bank card that was in that vehicle.
24:30I just don't remember.
24:34I just want to know what happened.
24:37He told me to keep my mouth closed.
24:39If y'all come to question me, I don't know anything.
24:43I am like in a rock and a hard place.
24:46Listen, we know you were there.
24:49Now is your time to tell exactly what you know.
24:52Were you at the hotel?
24:54We got a room that night.
24:55I'm not sure what time.
24:57He went to take a shower.
24:59Before he got out of the shower, I was asleep.
25:02The next time I saw him, was when he came to pick me up.
25:05What time did he come and pick you up?
25:07In the world of getting tired, you can't really keep track of time.
25:11Was it daylight outside or dark outside?
25:13It was early in the morning.
25:16He explained that him and this person were doing cocaine together.
25:20They had eggs built him before that.
25:25So was he selling drugs to Shandon?
25:27No.
25:29You say?
25:30How did they meet?
25:32As far as I know, they met a lot of help.
25:36He said they went somewhere.
25:38He came out.
25:39She said she was tired.
25:42Asked him if he could drive.
25:43She was going to take a nap.
25:44He said, sure, she got in the passenger seat and he drove.
25:50Okay, and then what happened?
25:52Came to pick me up.
25:53He said he wasn't feeling good.
25:56He felt like something was wrong.
25:58He was sweating so bad.
26:01I didn't know that he had taken a pill.
26:05I just figured, okay, you've been up too long.
26:08Maybe you need to go to sleep.
26:09So when I seen the person in the car puddled up with a blanket, it was nothing to raise red flags.
26:17At any point did you see Shandon move in the front seat?
26:21No.
26:22No.
26:24I guess so long of being a sleep life, he tried to wake her up.
26:30Like she wouldn't wake up.
26:33He parked the car.
26:35He said, what do I do?
26:37I don't think the person's breathing.
26:39I think they overdosed.
26:41And I freaked out.
26:44I freaked out and ran.
26:46And then what happened?
26:47After a three-day period, went back, and the car was fine.
26:53Did he move it?
26:54Yeah.
26:55Why did he move it?
26:57He said he was trying to make sure that the person was found.
27:03Like his record, he didn't think that if he contacted the police, that it was going to go well.
27:14So Shandon was transgender.
27:16If he didn't know that, and then he found out.
27:20Do you think he would have done anything to her?
27:23That's not the case.
27:25Because he has friends that are trans.
27:29He actually was in distress.
27:32So why didn't you call the police?
27:34He told me to keep my mouth shut up.
27:37Because he said that once they did the autopsy, it would have proved that he didn't do anything wrong.
27:45They got some bad pills, and she overdosed.
27:49How did it go with her?
28:06She admitted to being there, but she basically confirmed what the toxicology report said.
28:13Shandon took bad pills and overdosed.
28:15Are you going to be able to charge her or the man for attempting to use a credit card?
28:19There's no way we can charge them with that.
28:21If they say Shandon told them they could use the card, we can't prove she didn't.
28:26What about driving around with the body?
28:28Unfortunately, there is no crime against abandoning a body, so there's no charges to be made.
28:33We can't charge either of them with anything.
28:36Poor mother.
28:36Yeah, I know it's terrible.
29:04Okay, you need to tell me so sorry.
29:06And I know you...
29:36I'm so sorry.
29:39So, I don't want to...
29:42No way.
29:44But that's not...
29:46Oh...
29:48Oh, they did that.
29:53They did that.
29:54They did that.
29:58They did that.
30:00That's not what they did.
30:02You can never say what your child won't do, but I know that wasn't my baby.
30:09And...
30:10I'm sorry.
30:15I'm sorry.
30:16I'm sorry.
30:16I'm sorry.
30:17I'm sorry.
30:18I'm sorry.
30:19I'm sorry.
30:20I'm sorry.
30:21I'm sorry.
30:22But God knows.
30:24I'm sorry.
30:26I'm sorry.
30:27But I can't...
30:28I can't...
30:28I can't...
30:30I can't...
30:30I can't...
30:45In loving memory of Shannon Floyd, what I can't explain to you is the impact that Shannon has
31:03left on us all. Shannon was Shannon, and Shannon was confident in who he was. So if you take
31:10nothing else from this past week of searching for him and grieving his death, take the lessons
31:15Shannon wanted us all to learn. Be who you want. Be who satisfies you. Leave them blacks alone,
31:23and most importantly, live life while you can.
31:34Finding people before they come to harm is why I signed up to work missing persons.
31:41But now I'm coming to terms with that not always being a reality.
31:48A missing person case is not closed
31:53until the person is brought home.
32:04Sit in that chair right there in the corner.
32:10We just want to get to the bottom of what it is that you found.
32:24So what was your purpose of going into the woods today?
32:28I was going to work. I was going to catch the bus, but I've been trying to be more active, so I've been walking.
32:41I was walking westbound along the fence line where it opened up to the creek probably about 200 yards.
32:48I walked down into the creek. That was the first time I seen it.
32:59I looked to basically identify what it was. I leaned over.
33:03I was probably about five yards from it.
33:08I seen it. It looked like a skull.
33:13Looked like it had been there for a while, undistaired.
33:16It looked like something a cartel would do.
33:21Yeah.
33:21It looked like something a cartel would do.
33:29It looked like a Good Man.
33:37I mean, that's why I didn't even do anything for him.
33:49This is our friend.
33:53So I wouldn't play sheeting supposed to go.
34:26Yes, ma'am.
34:29OK.
34:3099% sure that this is Morgan.
34:35I can just tell that it is.
34:38He has a white shirt on with a blue hoodie over it,
34:41which is exactly what he was wearing.
34:44The skull is small, and he was a smaller guy.
34:50I know that's him.
34:56Oh, my God.
35:06In Richland County,
35:12a mother's worst nightmare coming to life,
35:15a six-month-long search for a vulnerable man.
35:19In Richland County,
35:20the body of 27-year-old Morgan Duncan
35:24was found in a wooded area today.
35:26He'd been missing since November.
35:28I'm happy that we found Morgan.
35:31Yes, I'm grateful.
35:33I needed to find my son.
35:35I need to put him to rest for me more than anything else.
35:44That's so sad.
35:46How long was it? Six months?
35:49Yeah.
35:50We searched miles and miles.
35:52And he was only like half a mile away.
35:56It's not the outcome that we wanted,
35:59but the good thing is right now,
36:01Morgan's family knows where he's at.
36:04I'm so thankful to God that they have him back
36:08and they can have a funeral and they have closure
36:10and they have somewhere they can go talk to him and everything.
36:14Hopefully they can start to heal.
36:16Yeah.
36:19Vicki, you followed the evidence.
36:21You made the arrest.
36:23Now it's up to the court.
36:24Okay.
36:25I don't know.
36:55All rise, court come to order.
37:00Okay, thank you.
37:00Take your seats.
37:06They called Eric Green.
37:15The victim's mother, LaConsa Duncan, is here, Your Honor.
37:18She would like to address the court as well.
37:19And everybody that's up there in the gallery, Your Honor, is here on behalf of Mr. Duncan.
37:23All right, and then where is Ms. Duncan?
37:26Good morning.
37:27Thank you, Judge, for giving me the opportunity to speak.
37:29My name is LaConsa Presley Duncan.
37:33Well, first of all, I love my son.
37:38And I've missed him dearly.
37:39And Morgan was just a great person, warm-hearted.
37:47No one in this court can tell you anything different.
37:52He went to Blackwood High School, where he was a member of the Honors Forum, which is the highest academic program that they have.
37:59And from there, he went to the University of South Carolina, and he was a pharmacy major.
38:08He didn't get to complete his studies because he was diagnosed with schizophrenia.
38:12Fast forward to last year, they moved him to Springtree.
38:18And Eric didn't have a lease out there, but he terrorized my son and those tenants.
38:26He fed them poison.
38:27So I do believe that he will continue to prey on those vulnerable adults like Morgan.
38:37He don't deserve to be among us anymore.
38:41He made that decision.
38:43Thank you for listening to me.
38:47Thank you, Ms. Duncan.
38:48And again, thank you for taking the time to be here today.
38:50All right, Mr. Green, if you want to say something, now would be the opportunity to do so.
38:57Oh, yeah.
38:57Yes, y'all.
38:58I just want to say that they are literally painting a picture of me that I'm not.
39:04Because I never did nothing.
39:06I never had nothing to do with why he missing on anything.
39:13Okay.
39:13Thank you very much.
39:16At this point in time, Mr. Green, your bond is denied.
39:20Thank you very much.
39:21Thank you, Garner.
39:33I thank the community for their support.
39:37And I want to thank Sheriff Lott and his team for all the work that they've done.
39:41And I want to thank my family and friends for coming out today in support of Morgan.
39:46But we're not done yet.
39:47We as a community have to stand strong so that we can protect people like Morgan who are vulnerable.
39:54So some good comes out of this tragedy.
39:57A Midlands man accused of murdering a vulnerable adult was today denied bond.
40:07Eric Green is charged with killing 27-year-old Morgan Duncan in Richland County last year.
40:12Also facing charges as an accessory is a 28-year-old woman, Jolivia Waller.
40:19Both deny all charges against them and will await trial.
40:23I can't pinpoint exactly when it happened.
40:43The day the cases started to come in thicker and faster or the violence got worse.
40:49These cases test our resolve.
40:56But it's our duty, no matter what, to carry on.
41:04Each day someone will go missing.
41:07Be there no doubt about that.
41:09But we will bring them home.
41:17And when the unthinkable has happened, you hope and pray for justice.
41:24The day the day the future was tomorrow, the day the day the day the day the day the day was done.
41:26This is a song for a long time.
41:27This is a song for a long time.
