00:00That kitchen's had nothing done to it since World War II.
00:04We know times are tough.
00:05For too many hard-working Aussies,
00:07it means putting your dream home on hold.
00:10I had plans for it, but it just never happened.
00:13And that's where we come in.
00:17We are back.
00:19Payne-all, over.
00:20Any drive-threes in virtue, over.
00:22Bigger than ever.
00:23More battlers.
00:25More renovations.
00:28And more money.
00:30There's no more money, no.
00:33We are rolling up our sleeves
00:35to prove that big transformations don't need big bucks.
00:39I got her on Facebook Marketplace.
00:40She wanted $250, got her down $200.
00:44We've got just five days
00:45and $10,000.
00:48Renews aren't just for the rich.
00:50To give deserving Aussies a home.
00:52Look, space!
00:54Oh!
00:58This is beautiful.
01:00That they can be proud of.
01:03Thank you so much.
01:04Oh, no way!
01:06Gotta make me comfortable for the rest of my law.
01:09This is Budget Battlers.
01:10Oh, no, we're crying already,
01:12and we haven't even said anything.
01:15Tonight...
01:16The Budget Battlers team tackle inside...
01:19Eight people living in this house with one Sheila.
01:22Outside...
01:23Hey, buddy.
01:24What's happening?
01:25A shed.
01:26A caravan.
01:27Oh, no!
01:28How beautiful!
01:31In a makeover that makes a family smile again.
01:33Thank you so much.
01:35This is Budget Battlers.
01:51This is Dave and Jen.
01:52I've been married to this lovely lady for 38 years.
01:58She bought me a drink at the club.
02:02Yeah.
02:02Yeah.
02:03I picked him up.
02:04Yeah, she picked me up,
02:05and I was a local footballer,
02:07and so it'd be.
02:08I never went home.
02:09That's about right.
02:12That's about right, yeah.
02:14And from that one drink at the local club,
02:17Galoo and Milk, I believe,
02:19this is what they've created.
02:22This is the Trotter family.
02:24Dave and Jen,
02:25their two sons, Jake and Josh,
02:28their partners and their two grandkids
02:30with another on the way.
02:32Our kids have lived with us all our time.
02:36They've brought their partners in,
02:37and now we've got our grandkids.
02:39They've got their own spaces,
02:40and we've got our space,
02:41but having all your family together,
02:44to me, is number one.
02:49They all live together on a property on Jones Island,
02:52just out of Taree on the Manning River
02:53in New South Wales.
02:55When we bought this place,
02:57we fell in love with it, didn't we?
02:58Yeah.
02:58We bought this a bit over two years ago,
03:00and because it's on the river,
03:02it was awesome.
03:04These guys are just crazy, mad fishermen.
03:06Every afternoon,
03:07Josh and Levi,
03:10who's the six-year-old grandson,
03:11he would take him down the back to the river,
03:13and they'd fish,
03:14and David would tag along as well,
03:16which was pretty cool.
03:16We have a son, my grandson.
03:18Yeah, it was pretty cool.
03:18Just live in the green, basically, yeah.
03:22In March this year,
03:23it started raining,
03:25and it didn't stop.
03:27We had three days of constant rain.
03:31When there's rain on the coast
03:32and in the catchment areas,
03:34it's all got to come down.
03:35It can't go anywhere,
03:36so we just went up,
03:38rather than out to sea.
03:40So, yeah,
03:41it was just basically a perfect storm.
03:43Not perfect for us.
03:44Not perfect for us.
03:45No, it was a tragedy for us.
03:47Yeah, yeah.
03:48But as in flood-wise,
03:51yeah,
03:51it was a perfect storm.
03:53Taree,
03:54which is around three and a half hours
03:55north of Sydney,
03:56is right now experiencing
03:57its worst flooding event on record.
04:00The Manning River at Taree
04:01has now reached levels
04:03never seen before, Ali,
04:04since those records began back in 1929.
04:07This flood emergency,
04:08particularly in that region,
04:09is now proving to be even worse
04:11than those record-breaking floods
04:13that we saw back in 2021.
04:15The floods are the most surreal things
04:17you've ever dealt with.
04:20The water just comes up
04:21and you think,
04:22all of a sudden,
04:22you've got nowhere to get out.
04:25You know?
04:26So then it's just like,
04:28we've got to get out ourselves.
04:30So we're lucky
04:30we had a couple of boats.
04:32Josh, our youngest,
04:34who's waded,
04:35like up in,
04:36you know,
04:36chest-deep water
04:37to come over and get a boat.
04:39It was a small tinny
04:40so he could get it close to the house.
04:42You know,
04:42there's six adults,
04:44two young kids,
04:45four dogs,
04:47and we couldn't leave anyone,
04:48so...
04:49We climbed over the veranda of the house
04:51to actually get into the little boat,
04:53how high it was.
04:54Seeing the river the way it was,
04:56and the cattle and...
04:58Yeah.
04:59Merwin and Karen on
05:00sort of thing
05:00going down the river
05:01and you knew they didn't have a chance.
05:03Yeah.
05:04Yeah, where they...
05:05That was heartbreaking.
05:06Oh, it was very heartbreaking.
05:07It was just like a...
05:09nearly a nightmare,
05:10but, you know,
05:11but it happened.
05:12The flood couldn't have come
05:14at a worse time
05:15for Dave and his family.
05:18My father passed
05:19two weeks before the flood,
05:22which was a really bad way
05:26to go into the flood,
05:26and I was still trying to grieve,
05:29and the flood didn't come
05:31at a good time.
05:32We still hadn't organised anything
05:34for him.
05:37Yeah, Liz,
05:37my dad,
05:38it was pretty hard.
05:40It was still pretty hard.
05:41We lost basically everything
05:47in the house,
05:47everything that was touching
05:48the ground,
05:49so all of our appliances.
05:52We lost our lounges,
05:54beds.
05:55All my power tools,
05:57everything,
05:57all my hand tools,
05:58everything like that,
05:59I just...
06:00Yeah,
06:00it's either just
06:01mud affected,
06:02floated away.
06:03The family are known
06:04in the community
06:05for always helping out others,
06:07and now it's their turn.
06:09We don't feel
06:10that we deserve it.
06:12It's like...
06:12No.
06:13It's hard to think
06:14that people want to do this.
06:15That's right.
06:15It's just, yeah,
06:16it's hard for us to take,
06:18because we're usually...
06:18We've always done
06:19everything for ourselves.
06:20We don't like to ask for help.
06:21No, don't ask.
06:22No, we don't ask for help.
06:23People usually ask us for help.
06:26Well, here on Budget Battlers,
06:28we like to help the ones
06:29who never ask for it.
06:31Coming up from the river
06:32this time,
06:33it's not floodwater and fear.
06:35It's the Budget Battler Group,
06:36here to help
06:37and rebuild a home
06:38and a family
06:39so they can get back
06:41to what they do best,
06:42being together
06:43and casting a line or two.
06:45Can't put it into words.
06:47No.
06:47Like,
06:48what it means to us.
06:50Yeah.
06:54You know,
06:55I like having people
06:55like yourselves
06:57and that
06:57to come and help.
06:59To do this.
07:00Yeah.
07:01Darling people,
07:02what you give back
07:03to everyone else
07:04is just
07:06out of this world.
07:07We are so privileged
07:09to be here today
07:09because what you've been through
07:11and what you've seen
07:12in the last couple of months,
07:14I don't know how
07:14you're still standing,
07:16being selfless
07:17and still being kind.
07:18And that's what
07:19being a battler
07:19is all about.
07:20It's giving back
07:21in your lowest of times
07:23and not thinking about yourself.
07:24And sometimes
07:25that's got to come back to you.
07:26I'm sure you've been asked
07:27a million and one times,
07:29but are you okay?
07:32Yeah.
07:33We're okay.
07:34Sort of battlers safe.
07:35Yeah.
07:36We're getting to that.
07:37Keep soldiering on.
07:38We're doing it together.
07:39Yeah.
07:40Thank you for doing
07:41what you do
07:41for people in the community.
07:43And when the lowest was low,
07:44you're out there
07:45helping everybody else.
07:47And so we would like
07:48to let you know
07:49what it feels like
07:50to have people
07:51like you as friends
07:52and take over
07:53from your role
07:54and do something
07:56for you guys
07:57for the next five days.
07:59We may not have
08:00the biggest budgets,
08:01but these guys here,
08:03I've seen them in action
08:04and I've seen
08:05what they've done
08:05to people's lives
08:06and they have
08:07the biggest bloody hearts
08:08and that's something
08:09that you can't buy at a shop.
08:11We're hoping
08:11that you come in
08:12in five days' time
08:13and actually see
08:15the love that's gone
08:16into this joint.
08:17Not just from us,
08:18but everyone around
08:19this area
08:20and this community.
08:21So we're looking forward
08:23to hooking in
08:24and finishing off
08:25what you've already started.
08:28We really appreciate it.
08:29Oh, you can't believe
08:30you're doing it for us.
08:32No.
08:33So would you mind?
08:34We would love you to come.
08:35We would love you to come.
08:36You're beauty!
08:41Unbelievable.
08:41Unbelievable.
08:42Unbelievable to have people
08:43turn up that we don't know
08:45to do this sort of stuff.
08:47Yes.
08:47Isn't it?
08:48Yep.
08:48It's, yeah, unreal.
08:51Very grateful.
08:52Very, very grateful.
08:54This doesn't sound
08:54very glamorous,
08:55but it's a budget battle away,
08:56but I've booked you
08:57an Airbnb in town.
09:00Loving it!
09:01I know it's not
09:02SeaWorld Resort,
09:03but if you do want
09:04to go to SeaWorld Resort
09:05or something,
09:05I'll just say,
09:06I've got a credit card,
09:07it's 55 days interest-free,
09:09I'll get it done.
09:10We've seen enough water.
09:11Oh, my God!
09:14No more water.
09:17Oh, my God!
09:18Ha, ha, ha!
09:18Ha, ha, ha!
09:27This week on Budget Battlers,
09:29we're in Jones Island,
09:31just out of Taree.
09:32Six months ago,
09:36floods ripped through this place.
09:38Taree is right now
09:39experiencing its worst flooding event
09:41on record.
09:43Destroying everything in its path,
09:45including the home
09:45of Dave and Jen.
09:47The local community
09:50have done a lot
09:50to start up
09:51the clean-up process,
09:53but we're here
09:54to finish it off
09:54and help them
09:55get their livelihood back.
09:57You can feel
09:57when people are hurting
09:58and we're in a beautiful position
10:00where we can
10:01do something
10:02to make them feel better.
10:03Our mates at Storage King
10:06are once again on board,
10:08helping our homeowners
10:09stash away
10:10what little they've got left
10:11while we give this place
10:12the full makeover
10:13it deserves.
10:16Here's the plan.
10:17We want to clean up
10:18all the remaining mud and debris
10:19and give every room
10:21and space a spruce up.
10:22But the areas
10:23that will have the main focus
10:24are the front yard,
10:25which is the first thing
10:26you see when you drive up,
10:28the bathroom,
10:29and the one
10:30which is going to put a smile
10:31back on Dave's face,
10:32the shed.
10:33In the front yard,
10:34we're going to clear out
10:35the garden beds,
10:36add a fence
10:37and some turf.
10:38In the bathroom,
10:39we're going to make it
10:39way bigger,
10:41add a shower
10:41and fancy it up
10:42with a feature wall.
10:44And in Dave's shed,
10:45we're going to remove
10:46all the mud
10:47so you can hopefully
10:47see the floor again,
10:48concrete the entrance
10:50so it's more accessible
10:51for him
10:51and put in some seating
10:52and a bar
10:53so the family have
10:54an extra area
10:55to hang out.
10:57Here's the budget so far.
10:58The main focus
10:59has been adding some space
11:00and a shower
11:01to the bathroom inside,
11:03so I've allocated
11:03$3,000 for that.
11:05And the kitchen cupboard
11:06flat packs
11:06have come in
11:07at $1,500.
11:08Norm loves flat packs.
11:10He'll be stoked.
11:11Add $400 from Kennard's
11:13to get some
11:13high-pressure waters
11:14and we're just
11:15under $5,000.
11:16But it's early days
11:17and it's a big job.
11:18This whole thing's
11:34coming out
11:35and going over there.
11:36Have we got
11:37pastures or anyone
11:38that can make
11:38really fun?
11:39Lee and I
11:39are kicking things
11:40off inside the house.
11:41Luckily,
11:42a lot of floor
11:43has already been
11:44replaced since the floods.
11:45That's one less job
11:47for us.
11:48The kitchen cupboards
11:49need to be replaced
11:51with something fresh.
11:53We'll be replacing
11:53wardrobes and interior doors
11:55and giving the whole house
11:56a lick of paint.
11:58But first things first,
12:00we've got to start
12:01the demo on the bathroom.
12:03We've got less than five days
12:05to get it all done,
12:06so no mucking around.
12:07Eight people living
12:10in this house
12:11with one shower.
12:13Eight mums to wash
12:14per day
12:14if you average it out
12:15at one wash per day.
12:17I never really thought
12:18of it like that.
12:19Yeah, it's a good time
12:23because they're all
12:23rotten and wet,
12:24so perfect time
12:25to be a runner.
12:29Given the scale
12:30of the renovation,
12:31I've reached out
12:31to our investment mentor
12:33Lachlan Vidler
12:33for some expert advice
12:35to make sure
12:35every dollar's being
12:36spent in the right place.
12:38Look, here he comes now
12:39in his flash car.
12:41Hope he doesn't get bogged.
12:42I wasn't sure who it was,
12:54but then I realised
12:55that the car was far shardier,
12:57more expensive
12:58and far more valuable
12:59than anything else.
12:59I said, oh, yeah,
13:00the value guy's here.
13:01It's kind of like
13:01when the skip bin arrives.
13:03You know who it is
13:03as soon as they get there.
13:04You don't just drive
13:16a Porsche
13:17in the budget battlers
13:18like whatever
13:18the old Nissan Navara style.
13:20Well, you'd have to hire
13:21a Nissan Navara
13:22to hide the Porsche.
13:27Yes.
13:29Ah, excuse me, mate.
13:31Can I help you?
13:32I want to write you a ticket.
13:34For what?
13:35Feed a show off.
13:38No, he earned it.
13:39Good deals.
13:42Come on.
13:43It's not budget battlers anymore.
13:45He wanted to give it to you.
13:50No, he doesn't
13:51because he heard
13:51what you said about his poor.
13:53I was going to change
13:54my opinion there
13:55for a second.
13:55I know.
13:56This is the bathroom here
13:58that we're going to add
13:59to the house
13:59because obviously
14:00six people in the house.
14:01Yeah.
14:02One shower.
14:03Tell us the value
14:04added this.
14:04I reckon this is
14:05like a no-brainer.
14:06Of course,
14:06it's a value add.
14:07It is so common
14:09that when you go
14:10and see a house,
14:10you've got a full bathroom,
14:11but then you have the half,
14:13which is usually just a toilet,
14:14exactly like what's here.
14:15But it can be really hard
14:17from a floor plan point of view
14:18to make it bigger,
14:20to be able to turn
14:20into a full bathroom.
14:21Yeah.
14:22But with a bit of strategy here
14:23and probably a bit
14:25of good luck as well,
14:26we can obviously extend it out.
14:27And now you take it
14:28from a one,
14:29one and a half bathroom house
14:30to two,
14:31and the value
14:32that comes from that
14:32is literally unbelievable.
14:34So if you even wanted
14:36to buy a house, right?
14:37Yeah.
14:37To flip.
14:38Yeah.
14:39If you just purely did the floors
14:41and did this to the bathroom,
14:43Yeah.
14:44would you be making money?
14:46100%.
14:46Yeah, right.
14:47100%.
14:48If you put all of our time
14:49and effort into this
14:49and that and this,
14:50this is literally
14:51what you could do.
14:51Yeah.
14:52And it's that simple, right?
14:53You've got to know
14:54what you're doing,
14:55but it's that simple.
14:56He's just handy to have.
14:58And he's already got
14:58the runs on the vault too.
15:00He's not just a yes guy,
15:02he's got a Porsche guy,
15:03so you know that
15:04he's going to make
15:04the right decision.
15:05Do you own your Porsche
15:06outright?
15:07Of course, Jess.
15:08Of course.
15:10Hey, Lee, bunks,
15:11Lourdes,
15:12Darlsons have dropped
15:13the gear off.
15:13We're on to go.
15:17Yeah, lift up.
15:18The amount of mud and rubbish
15:24even six months on
15:25is hard to believe.
15:32Hey, buddy.
15:33What's happening?
15:34Um, we're going to redo
15:36this whole shed.
15:37What are you going to do?
15:39The ink gave it.
15:40Well, he likes to sit in here,
15:41so...
15:43And he's just struggling
15:45to clean it up.
15:46Yeah, I totally understand that.
15:48This is where we can actually
15:49make the most amount of impact.
15:51Because it's not a flash,
15:53we know.
15:54We do this to lift spirits.
15:56So I'm just going to scrub it up,
15:59organise it,
16:01so that the next time
16:02he sits in here,
16:02he's in a place
16:03where he can progress,
16:05not have to work out
16:06what he needs to do
16:06in order to get up
16:07to where he was before.
16:09This is where he spends
16:09the most amount of time.
16:10Yeah.
16:11And you can tell
16:12that he's really struggling.
16:12We're just trying to get him out of it.
16:15Yeah.
16:16At least if he can walk in,
16:17I'll say,
16:17all your tools are boxed here.
16:18He can pick a shelf
16:19and start putting him back out
16:21wherever he wants.
16:22It's not about
16:23materialistic things.
16:25It's so much deeper than that.
16:26It's a whole bunch of strangers
16:27going,
16:28G'day mate,
16:29I've never met you before,
16:30but I bet
16:32that we can get you
16:33in a good spot.
16:34So wherever you go to a house,
16:36you're just like,
16:36let's have a crack at that.
16:38Worst comes to worst,
16:38it's going to have
16:39a cleaner shed.
16:40It's going to have
17:10We're here in Jones Island,
17:14just out of Tarbury,
17:15a community that's copped
17:17some of the worst floods on record.
17:19We got to the front gate
17:20and it was just mud.
17:25Yeah.
17:25All the way in.
17:27This week,
17:28we're lending a hand
17:29to the Trotter family,
17:30helping them get back on their feet.
17:32We decided to go
17:33a separate little tiny house
17:34that we've got here.
17:37So yeah, that's us.
17:39Living on top of
17:39each other
17:40gets a little bit much,
17:41but with a bit of space,
17:43it works in harmony.
17:44Three months before the flood,
17:46we just moved in
17:47and we're still paying off
17:48the credit card
17:48for the first bit out.
17:50So unexpectedly
17:52to try and do it all again.
17:54Yep.
17:55It was...
17:56Drain the savings.
17:57Yeah.
17:58Everything we had,
17:59so...
18:00Yep.
18:01Do what you're going to do.
18:03They've always been the first
18:04to help everyone else in town
18:05and now it's their turn
18:07to get a bit of that kindness back.
18:16You're going to watch her,
18:17not under that.
18:18There was a deck
18:19that was on the front
18:19of the tiny home.
18:20Swing this way a bit.
18:21And that washed away
18:26a little bit.
18:27Lawrence and Monk
18:27have got him to that
18:28this morning
18:28and got it all ready
18:30and we lifted that
18:31back onto the front
18:31of the tiny home.
18:33Righto, lift it.
18:34Good job.
18:35Look, no heads.
18:36Brilliant.
18:37Come around.
18:38Just watch that stump
18:38under your foot
18:39coming around.
18:40What are you doing, Lawrence?
18:43I'm organising, mate.
18:44Go in.
18:45Go in.
18:46Go in.
18:46That's it.
18:47That's it.
18:47Beautiful.
18:48Love your work.
18:48What's he?
19:01You got your showing off,
19:02buddy.
19:03Yeah, I didn't want it
19:04to smell, Jess.
19:05I was digging these holes
19:06and I was sweating.
19:07Your scars, buddy.
19:08What happened?
19:10This one?
19:11Your scratch, yeah.
19:12It was a crocodile.
19:13What?
19:14A crocodile.
19:15I was up in Darwin
19:16and I was in a caravan
19:18park and I was grabbing
19:19me rod going to go fishing
19:21and the bloke next door
19:22he actually warned me.
19:23He said,
19:23don't go down there.
19:26Sorry, that was
19:26a really good story.
19:29He said,
19:29don't go down there, mate.
19:30There's crocs.
19:31I said,
19:32ah, bullshit's the beach, mate.
19:33Toss it a wine
19:34and all of a sudden
19:36I seen it come up
19:37and all his frontclaw
19:39just grabbed me
19:40and I ran like shit.
19:42providing ladies around Australia
19:46would be one of the most
19:47delicious TV moments
19:49that is going to cross their eyes
19:50in a long time
19:51before you met a guy
19:52called Lortz
19:52with a tiger tattoo on his back
19:54telling us how he got bitten
19:55by a crocodile
19:55while digging a hole.
19:56What?
19:58He did not get bitten
20:00by a crocodile.
20:00Don't be jealous.
20:02Just because you get upset
20:03when you pluck your eyebrows
20:05Oh, are you kidding me?
20:06He does.
20:07He carries on like a pork chop gun
20:09He is a bitter man
20:09get bitten by a crocodile
20:11and then dig a hole.
20:12Oh, he just taped it up
20:13and it's all good.
20:14That's why it's all scarred like that.
20:17Yeah.
20:18It's all right.
20:18I'm glad you're on our team.
20:20I was going to get the
20:21Trotters' washer and dryer
20:23but then when I saw Lortz's abs
20:25I was just like,
20:25oh, I'll just wash
20:26their bloody underpants on that.
20:30Old school style.
20:33Got some suds.
20:41Hey Lee, have you got a stick?
20:43Yeah, yeah, sure.
20:44Well, I've noticed some mould
20:45around the home
20:46especially in the bathroom
20:47that you are here on right now
20:48and I've got some products
20:51that might be able to help with that.
20:52That is great you brought that up
20:54because it's such an issue
20:55like after flooding water
20:57it is just,
20:58it comes out everywhere.
20:59So we've got quite a lot of areas
21:01that we need some sort of product
21:03that'll help.
21:04We've got some really great sprays
21:06that can do that for us.
21:09So they're mould sprays.
21:10You spray it on,
21:11let it sit for a while
21:12and then come back
21:13and remove it
21:14and then we've also got
21:15some really great little buckets here.
21:18Then what you do
21:19is you just take the plastic off this,
21:21you pop this lid back on
21:22and you just let it sit
21:23and what happens
21:24is it helps to prevent mould for me.
21:27Cool.
21:28That is,
21:28that is exactly
21:29what we've been looking for.
21:33Budget Battlers
21:34is about community
21:35and people
21:35coming together
21:36to help out other people
21:37especially those
21:39that are battling.
21:39Hello,
21:53how are you?
21:54You are not going to believe
21:55what we have done for you.
21:57Humankind
21:58today
21:58rocked in
21:59with a
22:00beautiful,
22:01beautiful caravan.
22:02So we know that
22:04Brooke,
22:04she's having a baby.
22:06Yeah.
22:06So Humankind
22:07have got in touch
22:09with Noel here.
22:10G'day Noel.
22:10Through Facebook Marketplace.
22:12Through Facebook Marketplace.
22:13Oh God,
22:13you meet the best people
22:14through Facebook Marketplace.
22:15Real people.
22:16Yeah.
22:18And he has provided this.
22:20I'm just so proud of them.
22:22They've got the budget
22:23about the spirit.
22:24Are you Tari local?
22:25Yeah, yeah.
22:26They've been doing it
22:27bloody tough here,
22:28haven't they?
22:28Oh, 100%.
22:30You just don't realise
22:31the impact
22:33until you go through it yourself.
22:34Yeah.
22:35You know,
22:35and,
22:36you know,
22:37but we have a great community.
22:39You know,
22:39when things get tough,
22:41everybody blinks
22:41their arms together
22:42and helps everybody
22:44and the town
22:46just come back together
22:47so fast.
22:47We can budget battle it.
22:49Well done,
22:50Angie.
22:50You are.
22:52That's all right.
22:52Do you want to check it out?
22:54Yes.
22:54Go and have a look inside.
22:55Doing up caravans
22:56is my dream.
22:57So how good now
22:58we've got a caravan
22:59to renovate.
22:59Woo!
23:00And a shed
23:00and a house.
23:02And a lawn
23:03and some concrete-ing.
23:06What's it like?
23:07Oh,
23:08here's Dave.
23:09Holy smokes,
23:10it would have been
23:10a rough ride.
23:11No,
23:12you took those corners
23:13a little hard,
23:13mate.
23:14Sorry,
23:14mate,
23:15sorry.
23:15Terms and conditions apply.
23:16Dave didn't really
23:17jump out of the caravan.
23:18We just went in there
23:19so that we could get
23:20surprised
23:21when he arrives.
23:22So don't bother
23:23calling the cops.
23:24That'll come out easy.
23:26That's coming out
23:27very easy.
23:27Oh my gosh.
23:29All right,
23:29there goes that.
23:31That's so,
23:31I love it.
23:33The people that
23:34really are going to be
23:35doing a bit tough
23:36is Brooke and her husband
23:37and the newborn baby
23:38were just coming
23:39in a couple of weeks.
23:40So this space
23:41is going to have
23:41a lovely couch,
23:43a telly,
23:44an air con,
23:46a place for them
23:47to sleep
23:47and a place for the baby
23:48to sleep
23:49so that they've at least
23:49got their little spots.
23:51And I just think
23:52that's so important.
23:53If I reckon diamonds
23:54are a girl's worst friend,
23:54give me a caravan
23:56that looks a little bit
23:57dreary on the inside
23:58that's got fuller potential,
23:59that's actually
23:59my sweet spot.
24:09How are you, baby?
24:09How are you?
24:10How are you, mate?
24:11Coming up all right?
24:12Bloody hell.
24:13You are hard
24:14and you are fast, mate.
24:16And you can say that
24:16because that's his business name,
24:18hard or fast.
24:18We've got a fair bit to go
24:19but I think we'll get there
24:20by the start, hopefully.
24:21And what made you want
24:21to come down here today?
24:23Oh, we're just trying
24:23to help out
24:24with what we can
24:25and we've seen the show
24:26and stuff like that.
24:26We agree with what
24:27you guys are doing.
24:28I love it.
24:28You're a legend.
24:34Now it's my turn
24:35to go shopping.
24:36I've headed down
24:37to Beaumont Tiles
24:37to sort out the tiles
24:39for this bathroom.
24:40Look, I'm a bit of a regular
24:42when it comes to the shopping scene,
24:43like the styling side.
24:45You can just ask Jess
24:46that she does say
24:47that I have quite the ability
24:49to pick out a product
24:51that we need for the house.
24:53That's a lie.
24:54I mean, I'm terrible at this.
24:55So what I do
24:56is I ring someone I know,
24:57like me old mate Daz
24:58from Beaumont's
24:59and I just go down
25:00and see him
25:01and he just picks
25:02it all out for me.
25:03I go back to site,
25:05everyone thinks
25:05I've picked it.
25:06I look like the key.
25:08How are you, Daz?
25:08I'm good, Norm.
25:09How are you?
25:09Going well, mate.
25:10What's happening?
25:10Oh, you know, working hard.
25:12How about you guys?
25:13Well, we've got a bit
25:13going on at the moment.
25:14Okay.
25:15So we're doing a house in Taree.
25:16Yep.
25:17Being completely flood damaged
25:18after all the floods
25:19I had there a few months ago.
25:20It's a family of six adults,
25:22two children.
25:23The problem is
25:24there's only one shower
25:25in the main house.
25:26We want to open up
25:27one bathroom
25:28that's technically
25:29just a toilet and basin.
25:31Okay, yep, yep.
25:32We want to put another shower in there.
25:34Okay, cool.
25:34So we need some towels, brother.
25:37Easy, no problems.
25:37Let's head over
25:38to our BTMAX range
25:39and have a look at some options.
25:40Right, beautiful.
25:41Now I'm thinking
25:43because we've got a family
25:44of six adults, two kids.
25:46Yep.
25:47I think we should go
25:47probably for a darker floor.
25:49It hides a bit more of the dirt.
25:50Yeah, yeah, yeah.
25:51So I'm thinking
25:52we will use
25:53Omniform Charcoal
25:56from the range.
25:57It is a textured tile.
25:58So it is non-slip.
25:59Great.
26:00So for the kids
26:00it will help reduce
26:02slip factors
26:02when they're in the bathroom.
26:03Yep.
26:04And then I will pair that
26:05with just a simple
26:06gloss white Walter.
26:09It's going to create
26:11more openness in the bathroom
26:13because of the gloss.
26:14Yep.
26:14So the bathroom
26:15will feel bigger
26:15than it actually is.
26:16Yeah, right.
26:16It's good
26:17because it's not a huge
26:18huge width
26:19than this bathroom.
26:20Beautiful.
26:20And remember, too,
26:21bigger the tile,
26:22less grout lines.
26:23Yep.
26:23So it will also
26:23make the space feel bigger.
26:24Yeah, beautiful.
26:25All right, let's lock it in.
26:26Beautiful.
26:27Love your work, mate.
26:28Done.
26:29Yeah, I think
26:29it's going to make
26:30a massive difference
26:31to this family.
26:32They're just using
26:33one share
26:33in the main part of the house
26:34and there's
26:35four adults and kids
26:37and they're
26:38fighting over the share every day.
26:39But if we can extend
26:40that other bathroom out
26:41and put another shower
26:42in there,
26:43they're going to have
26:44a shower or toilet vanity.
26:46Two people can use that one.
26:47Two people can use
26:48the other one.
26:49So everyone's
26:50going to get a shower
26:51and they'll have
26:52the hot water systems going
26:53and everything will be right.
26:54Everyone will have hot water
26:55and can shower all day long.
27:05Are you OK?
27:06Was it a whirly?
27:07There you go.
27:08It's a cheese.
27:08Who's pen?
27:09It's a healthy life.
27:10Oh, ****.
27:11A curly whirly
27:12seconded healthy life tent.
27:17Where is the healthy life tent?
27:19I'm in the tree.
27:21Oh!
27:21Here's the light.
27:23Oh, fuck!
27:25Are you OK?
27:26Yeah!
27:27Oh, my God!
27:28This is the most dramatic
27:29night of the series.
27:31Oh, my God!
27:32It come around the corner
27:35and then rolled,
27:36rolled, rolled, rolled
27:36and then just
27:37hook up.
27:38That's bizarre.
27:41And Twister was on telly
27:42last night.
27:43I watched a bit of it.
27:43Oh, God!
27:44Oh, God!
27:44The budget bettler's team
27:54are in Jones Island,
27:55New South Wales,
27:56helping out a local family
27:57whose home was hit hard
27:59by the floods.
28:00Let's see how the cash
28:01spend is going.
28:03The budget is still on track
28:05thanks to all the incredible
28:06donations we've received,
28:07including excavation gear
28:09donated by family members.
28:10But we've added $1,500
28:12for paint for indoor
28:13and out,
28:14including the Dulux
28:15Renault range
28:16for the kitchen cabinet.
28:17Hide some gear
28:18from Kennards
28:19and $800
28:20for extra tools
28:21and timber.
28:22Total spend so far,
28:23$7,200.
28:24By far,
28:40one of the sweetest people
28:41on sight of the girls
28:42at Healthy Life,
28:43but for some reason,
28:44Mother Nature
28:44chucked the Healthy Life tent
28:46up and put it upside down
28:47in a bloody tree.
28:49Oh, my gosh.
28:51Looks healthy.
28:52Man, I've got to get
28:54a few breaches
28:55out of here first.
28:57Our tent
28:58was completely gone.
29:01A mini cyclone
29:03came through
29:03and it blew it
29:05up into the tree,
29:07which,
29:07upside down,
29:08might I add.
29:09Absolutely.
29:09I'm still sceptical
29:11if that was the wind
29:12or if it was the boys
29:13coming down on us.
29:14I don't know.
29:15All right, girls,
29:16there's your tent back.
29:18Thanks, guys.
29:19Oh, no.
29:22Obviously,
29:26you didn't have it
29:27weighed down,
29:28did you?
29:28Have a look at that.
29:29I don't think
29:30it would have mattered
29:31last night
29:31what you had on it,
29:32actually.
29:32It was going
29:33one way or another.
29:34Oh, no.
29:35Happy, healthy walk.
29:36All right.
29:36See you, Norm.
29:38If you're having
29:39one of those days
29:40where the reno's
29:41gone sideways
29:41and your tent's
29:42ended up in a tree
29:43and you can't get
29:44to the doctor,
29:45don't stress.
29:46Our mates at Healthy Life
29:47have got you covered.
29:48I'm an idiot
29:49because I left
29:49some of my medication
29:50at home.
29:51Anyway,
29:51I've jumped onto
29:52Healthy Life's
29:53telehealth service
29:54to get my
29:54prescription filled
29:55and they deliver
29:57anywhere in Australia
29:58for free.
29:59So I don't even
30:00have to lose sight,
30:01I'm not going
30:01to lose time.
30:02It's bloody handy
30:03having mates
30:03with a telehealth
30:04service, isn't it?
30:05Hello.
30:06Yeah, I've left
30:07my prescription
30:08at home
30:08and I was just
30:09wondering if you'd
30:10be able to help
30:10me just get
30:12a new prescription
30:13because I'll be
30:14here for a couple
30:14of days.
30:18And that's how
30:18how easy it is.
30:19We love
30:49all of our mates
30:49on the Budget Butler
30:50team and one of
30:51them used to be
30:52a real housewife,
30:53a Sophie star,
30:54even 90s pop royalty.
30:56But to me,
30:56she's just the
30:57fanciest person I
30:58know with a heart
30:59of gold.
31:00Mel, what a ripper.
31:02I am no expert.
31:04I just go off
31:05what I think looks
31:05nice and what I
31:06think looks good.
31:08And yeah,
31:09you just you just
31:10got to kind of
31:11wing it really.
31:13There's a beautiful
31:15story about this
31:16wooden table that
31:17they had in the
31:18lounge room.
31:19It was something
31:20that survived the
31:20flood.
31:22So they really
31:23wanted to keep
31:23that, which is
31:25amazing.
31:25So I've tried to
31:27go off those
31:28colours so you
31:29don't introduce
31:30another colour
31:30into the house.
31:33We want the
31:34family to come in
31:35and just be blown
31:37away and just love
31:39their space.
31:40Still make it feel
31:42like it is their
31:43space, but just
31:44add a bit of the
31:46budget battler, you
31:48know, savour.
31:54Munger and Lortz are
31:56the ultimate budget
31:56battler warriors.
31:57They made the fence
31:58out of pine and
31:59pallets that they
32:00found around the
32:00place, which cost
32:01nothing.
32:02What a bunch of
32:03legends.
32:04Do you know how
32:04much they spent to
32:05the week?
32:07Under $100.
32:09You and Lortz are
32:10just resource
32:11grabbers.
32:12Like you look
32:12around, see what
32:13you've got.
32:14You just fricking
32:14Someone else might
32:15cost tight people.
32:17No, you're smart.
32:18I bloody love you.
32:19Wish I was a
32:20tight person.
32:21When it's go time,
32:23they've got two
32:24objectives.
32:25To bring people
32:26home, make sure
32:27that they're happy,
32:28but also not to
32:29break the bank because
32:29they know that every
32:30cent that they spend
32:31is going to take away
32:32money from the next
32:33house we're going
32:33for a two.
32:35So there's going
32:45to be a concrete
32:47path from the road
32:48up until the shed.
32:50They're reconcreting
32:51a little bit of it.
32:51Then inside the shed,
32:53we're going to get
32:53Dave's Harley Davidson
32:55back from the marina.
32:56We're going to put it
32:57on like its own
32:58little dance floor.
33:00It's going to be
33:00unreal.
33:05I've got a trailer
33:06load of stuff that
33:07the Turry Men's Shed
33:08gave to me a while
33:09back to help all of
33:11the flood victims
33:11and it's tools,
33:13power tools, hand
33:14tools, nails, hammers.
33:16You guys are doing
33:17that shed and I'm
33:18sure there's probably
33:19stuff in that trailer
33:20that you guys can snap.
33:22Can we have a look?
33:24Yeah, absolutely.
33:24Right, let's go.
33:26It's random.
33:27I'd been watching their
33:28show a few weeks ago
33:29and saw this post and I
33:31thought it's a sign.
33:32I've got this trailer
33:33load of stuff.
33:34They need help.
33:35I saw how bad it was
33:37here and so I just
33:38turned up.
33:39Ho, ho, ho.
33:41Oh my God.
33:42There's almost
33:43everything that you
33:44can think of.
33:44It's just...
33:45Oh, yeah.
33:47So Janine, just a
33:48random, just popped
33:50in with the trailer
33:51on, absolutely
33:52chock-a-block
33:52full of tools.
33:53So nice.
33:54The Turry Men's
33:55Shed donated all
33:57this stuff to her
33:58and she's just going
33:59around offering
34:00whatever's in that
34:01trailer.
34:02If you need it, you
34:03take it.
34:03If you don't want it,
34:04so be it.
34:05I'll take it off to
34:06the next joint.
34:06Beautiful.
34:07I'm going to leave
34:07you guys with it.
34:08Janine, thank you so
34:09much.
34:09You're very welcome.
34:10Unbelievable.
34:11Awesome.
34:11Unbelievable.
34:14Yeah, it's an
34:14awesome community
34:15around here.
34:16Yeah.
34:17You just cannot
34:18be there.
34:18She's been there
34:19all afternoon.
34:21Oh, Janine.
34:21She's been out
34:22there working
34:22outside with the
34:23boys and raking up
34:24gardens and laying
34:25turf.
34:26Was Janine the
34:26one pulling up
34:28the weeds?
34:29Like her?
34:29Yeah.
34:29That's Janine.
34:30She's lovely.
34:31I was like, who's
34:32that?
34:32Now I know.
34:33It's Janine.
34:33Janine.
34:41We wanted to put
34:47some doors in
34:47between the
34:48bedroom and
34:49the living room
34:49in Josh and
34:50Brooke's part
34:51of the house.
34:52And Foreman Lee
34:53has a great
34:54money-saving
34:55idea.
34:58BJ board
34:59and he then
34:59encoded it
35:00with the MDF
35:01and then you've
35:01got the rails
35:02that you do it.
35:02Look how
35:03beautiful it is.
35:04You can't tell me
35:05that that man
35:05is not a
35:06craftsman.
35:06He is good.
35:26Good job,
35:27Mike.
35:27Thank you,
35:28I'll be back
35:29as soon as I
35:30can.
35:31Everyone has
35:32come together
35:32this week and
35:33it has shown
35:34how kind
35:35humans can
35:35be.
35:36Probably a
35:36good time
35:37now to get
35:37humankind in
35:38to announce
35:38their kindest
35:39person on
35:40side award,
35:40I reckon.
35:41It was hard
35:42to pick because
35:42everyone's put
35:43in a 110%
35:44effort.
35:44There's one
35:45person that
35:45has actually
35:45stood out
35:46quite a lot
35:46and from
35:46the very
35:47first day
35:48that we
35:48arrived,
35:49they have
35:49just been
35:50stepping up
35:50and offering
35:51to help
35:51however they
35:52can.
35:52Yeah.
35:53They're the
35:54first person
35:55that we've
35:55seen every
35:56morning when
35:57we've arrived.
35:58They've gone
35:58over and
35:59above.
36:00They've just
36:00always got this
36:01beautiful smile
36:02on their face
36:03and they're so
36:04warm and
36:05nothing's been
36:07too much trouble
36:07for them.
36:08We want to
36:09award this
36:10person $5,000
36:12so the person
36:13that we've
36:14chosen is
36:15you, Serena.
36:16winning from
36:28the human
36:28kind, $5,000.
36:31That's
36:31incredible.
36:32No one's ever
36:32done that for
36:33me and I'm
36:34just feeling
36:35really overwhelmed
36:36actually because
36:38I feel like
36:38everybody deserves
36:39their own
36:40card of $5,000.
36:41in.
36:56Origin Energy
36:57are here to
36:57make sure the
36:58whole house is
36:59electrified and
37:00to get some
37:01whopping big
37:01solar panels on
37:02the roof.
37:04So the
37:05sun granverter and
37:06battery is now
37:07fully commissioned?
37:07Yes, and if you
37:09look at this
37:10beautiful installation
37:11here, this is a
37:12single-phase hybrid
37:138 kilowatt
37:14inverter and this
37:15is a 9.6
37:16kilowatt
37:17batteries and
37:18the customer can
37:19able to monitor
37:20how much the
37:21system is doing,
37:22how much the
37:23battery is charging
37:24or discharging from
37:25their mobile app
37:26called iSolarCloud.
37:27I can show you
37:28through the iSolarCloud
37:30app.
37:30Right now, the
37:31system is producing
37:32around 2.5 kilowatt.
37:34The house is taking
37:35around 2 kilowatt
37:36and remaining is
37:37charging the
37:38battery.
37:39So it is a very
37:40easy way for the
37:41customer to manage
37:42how much solar they
37:43have.
37:44That's fantastic.
37:45Great.
37:45Thank you so much.
37:46I really appreciate
37:47you coming out.
37:57It's our final day
37:58here in Jones Island
37:59and the team,
38:00along with the
38:01beautiful community,
38:02haven't stopped.
38:03They've worked
38:03around the clock,
38:04barely sleeping,
38:05to get this place
38:06ready in time for
38:07the family to come
38:08home.
38:09That's right.
38:10Five big days.
38:12A crew of bloody
38:13hard-working volunteers,
38:1410 grand and some
38:16ripper donations from
38:17some top-notch people
38:19and businesses who
38:20just wanted to pitch
38:21in and do some good.
38:29Oh, my goodness.
38:30Wow.
38:36Oh, look at the fence.
38:38It's beautiful.
38:38Oh, my God.
38:39Come on.
38:52Oh, hello, you darling,
38:57trotters.
38:58How are you?
38:59Good.
39:01We're great.
39:02We're great.
39:03We are so excited to
39:04show you what we're
39:04about to present, but
39:06what happened in the
39:06last five days wasn't
39:07just a renovation.
39:08It was a group of
39:09people that came
39:10together, not just
39:12because they knew you,
39:13but because they heard
39:14about you.
39:15And as a result, we
39:17have got to know you
39:18and how beautiful you
39:19are through your
39:19families, your friends,
39:20your stories, what
39:21you've done.
39:23And we don't say we
39:24really love you.
39:25She's making you cry
39:26again.
39:27Sorry.
39:27And me.
39:29Sometimes when you
39:31see things and you
39:33are inside the space,
39:35you can feel the
39:36struggle.
39:38And sometimes you
39:39don't realise how
39:40much that struggle is
39:41until you actually get
39:42in there and you go,
39:44oh, my God, I'm so
39:44glad we're here.
39:45Thank you for letting
39:48us showcase Tari and
39:49the kindness and the
39:50love and the generosity
39:51that it is.
39:53So if you don't mind,
39:54she'll go into your
39:55house and have a look.
39:57Oh, we would love to
39:58have a look.
39:59Come on, let's go,
40:00guys.
40:04Open her up,
40:06trotters.
40:06Come on.
40:07This is just beautiful.
40:28They've actually done a
40:29mighty job.
40:30They have.
40:31From what they started.
40:32The yard was just a
40:33muddy.
40:34Weeks and weeks of work
40:35has been done in days.
40:36In days.
40:38You've just got to
40:38look at it.
40:55Oh.
40:56Oh.
40:59Oh, my goodness.
41:00Oh, wow.
41:06What you've done in here
41:25is, yeah, it's hard to
41:28explain, like it's, it's
41:30unbelievable.
41:30It's just.
41:31But this table is a
41:32survivor because this
41:33survived the flood.
41:34This is one of the only
41:34bits of furniture.
41:35These chairs, these
41:36chairs floated, but that
41:38survived and it's like
41:39the whole eight of us
41:40can fit around this.
41:41Yeah.
41:41It just looks beautiful.
41:43Yeah.
41:43It's stunning.
41:44I love it.
41:44Wow.
41:53Wow.
41:53Wow, that looks so nice.
41:55That's beautiful.
42:01Wow.
42:02Oh, my God.
42:03Can't believe it.
42:23I can't believe it's the same
42:24room.
42:24All those shelves are gone.
42:25Look what Foreman Lee made
42:42with MDF and BJ.
42:44I know.
42:44That's beautiful.
42:46How flash.
42:49That is stunning, isn't it?
42:52That is stunning.
42:53I envisaged barn doors on
42:55this.
42:55Did you?
42:56That's what I wanted him
42:56to do, but it was like
42:57it was never.
42:59So many jobs.
43:00I was going to say, you
43:01had plenty on your plate,
43:02Dave.
43:02I don't know whether.
43:03I couldn't find a barn.
43:14We're at the home of the
43:15Trotters in Jones Island
43:16near Tauri in New South
43:18Wales.
43:18This is just beautiful.
43:20And we are pleased to say
43:21they are loving what we've
43:22done so far.
43:23What you've done in years.
43:25Yeah, it's hard to explain.
43:28Like it's, it's unbelievable.
43:30But the best is yet to come.
43:35Oh, look at it.
43:38It's beautiful.
43:38Oh, my God.
43:40The extra bathroom will make a huge difference.
43:50There'll be no fighting at night time.
43:53Yeah, it's a game changer.
43:55Absolutely a game changer, that.
43:57It is.
43:57Do you want me to show you how you can wash your bum?
43:59No, it's okay.
44:01I'm guessing that is a bidet over there.
44:05It's a bidet from COVID.
44:07So it's like a toilet seat.
44:08You put it on top.
44:09So you don't have to replace your entire system.
44:11Oh, lovely.
44:12Have you tried it yet?
44:14No, but I'm happy to do it in front of you
44:16to show you the same spot.
44:17But I have heard you haven't lived till you've had water on it.
44:23It's not bad.
44:26I might get off it.
44:29Actually, I don't mind that at all.
44:32You, we should have a go.
44:34Like, honestly, you've got to try before.
44:36No, I'm not doing it in someone's new house.
44:38I might do it in a motel room where I'm by myself.
44:44Is that your moral stance?
44:46Is that your moral stance?
44:48He's a good guy.
44:49You should put that on your Tinder profile.
44:51We'll not use a bidet at someone's new house.
44:55We'll only do it at motels.
44:59As Dave and Jen take a moment to enjoy their newly transformed home,
45:03it's time to show Josh and Brooke their new retreat.
45:06We know you're having a baby in a couple of weeks.
45:08How's your hormones?
45:09Yeah.
45:10Oh, Josh.
45:11Oh.
45:13We have these friends called Dave and Anne.
45:15They're from Humankind.
45:16They rocked up with this caravan that they wanted to gift
45:19because I was telling them about you guys,
45:20and I was like, it's kind of hard not having your own space a little bit.
45:24Do you know what I mean?
45:24Just somewhere.
45:26And so Lortz and Manka and Lee did an absolute all-nighter last night.
45:32We all just wanted to create a space for you to be able to relax
45:36because being a mummer for the first time,
45:38with your baby, you can't get, you can't get that back.
45:42So I hope this is the place.
45:43Oh, no, you're making me cry.
45:44I know it is.
45:45You can tell the mum's cut.
45:49I know.
45:51I love you.
45:52Okay.
45:53Grab her.
45:53Oh, my God.
45:57Oh, my God.
46:09You know, this is ours.
46:12Oh, my God.
46:12I'm going to start crying again.
46:14This is going to be really great for when we have the baby
46:22and we can come in here and just relax.
46:25You can come in here and chill with your little brother.
46:28I'm, like, lost for words.
46:41That little caravan that we get to call ours is amazing
46:45and it's going to be a saviour when the baby's here
46:50and we can just go sneak off and have some quiet time.
46:57Hi, Jente.
46:59Hi, Jess.
47:00Good to see you.
47:01Nice to see you.
47:02This is my mate, Lydia.
47:03She's from Origin.
47:05She's going to give you a little bit of a something-something.
47:06When we heard about everything that you've done for the community,
47:09we wanted to give something back.
47:10So you probably saw that we've installed a great big solar system
47:15on your rooftop, but that's not all.
47:17We've also installed a 10-kilowatt battery.
47:20So that means that all the excess solar that's soaked up
47:23by those beautiful panels up on your roof
47:25is going to go into the battery
47:26and then as soon as the sun goes down, your battery kicks in
47:29and your battery's going to power your home at night.
47:31So, you know, your home should stay a lot more comfortable
47:34and your bills will come right down.
47:36Wow.
47:37With so many living here,
47:39our bills are very high.
47:40We are high users of electricity,
47:42so that will be amazing.
47:43That will really help us out.
47:45So welcome.
47:45Thank you, Lydia, and thank you, Origin.
47:47Can we have a little hug?
47:48Can we have a little hug?
47:50That's it.
47:50Solar panels everywhere is just unreal.
47:53So that'll make a really big difference.
47:57This used to be your flood-torn areas with swamp.
48:02We had your mate bring some gravel,
48:04thousands of dollars worth,
48:06to be able to give you a road
48:07so that you're able to access your machinery
48:08because then we know
48:09that if you were to twist or turn,
48:12it could be catastrophic for you health-wise.
48:13So we can't thank the chameleon enough
48:15for even donating the rocks here.
48:17That's amazing.
48:18Do you guys want to come?
48:20Come.
48:20Come with us.
48:21Come for a walk.
48:27Oh!
48:28Oh, no!
48:30Oh, no!
48:32Oh, no!
48:32Oh, no!
48:33Oh!
48:33Oh, no!
48:34Oh!
48:35Oh!
48:36Oh!
48:36Oh!
48:37Oh!
48:37Oh!
48:37Oh!
48:37Oh!
48:38That's ridiculous!
48:38That's ridiculous.
48:40Come on!
48:40Come on!
48:40Come on!
48:41Come on!
48:42Oh!
48:42Oh, did you?
48:47Oh, my God!
48:49They'll never come back to the house.
48:54Oh, Jesus.
48:55There's a new car.
48:59I don't know where to start.
49:05I've never seen the floor.
49:09Oh, my gosh.
49:16Thank you so much.
49:19What are you thinking?
49:27I've got lots of words.
49:30I don't know what it was like.
49:32I don't know what it was like.
49:41I don't know what it was like.
49:43I don't know what it was like.
49:44I don't know what it was like.
49:46I don't know what it was like.
49:48Wow, this, I don't even have words.
49:50Sorry, I have no words.
49:51This is beautiful.
49:53You're good at TV.
49:55I'm not used to it when people do stuff for me.
50:00Have a joy, mate.
50:01I hope you needed a shed back.
50:03And there you go.
50:05Thank you so much.
50:06Can't be a kind of man cave without the man cave, yeah?
50:09I know I've got a lot of good friends and that, but for them to then come and do this was, yeah, very, it's emotional for me.
50:17It's a weight lifter, it's a massive weight, it's huge, it's weeks and weeks of work to us has been done in days, and let's say, you've just got to look at it and it's just, my God, it's beautiful, it's unreal, you know?
50:37With a budget of less than $10,000, it just proves that with some help from your mates and some creative ideas, you don't have to spend a fortune to have nice scenes and be reminded that you loved.
50:50We got local real estate agent Peter Sayers to see if our 10 grand reno has added any value to the place.
50:58Oi-da.
50:58Jess, how you going?
51:00Mate, told ya.
51:01Oh, what a difference.
51:03How are you?
51:04Great, great.
51:04Oh.
51:07Can't believe how much you've got done.
51:08I mean, oh my gosh, what do you reckon, what's your favourite part?
51:11Oh, well this was, this is a great man cave now, this was obviously a good shed before, full of tools and good for storage, but what a usable space.
51:20Yeah.
51:20And then inside looks so different.
51:23Yeah.
51:24Added a bathroom and...
51:26So compared to then to now, what are we looking at if we were to give them a bit of a nest egg?
51:30You know, if you were going to sell it as it was before versus now, you'd have to be easily 100, probably 200 better off if you were to sell it as it was before.
51:39So unbelievable turnaround in five days.
51:43Oh my gosh.
51:43Oh my gosh.
51:48Let's check out how we went on the budget.
51:50The biggest cash spend this week was the bathroom conversion, but adding an extra shower is life-changing.
51:56A thousand bucks for shelving with a few donations by the legends at Resync, and we did receive some incredible donations and a lot of chop-out from mates, including Excavation Hire, Kogan, the Caravan from Humankind,
52:07and a special shout-out to David Latham at Ford's Quarry Moorland for all the gravel, but total cash spend under nine grand.
52:16My best budget battle of bargain is the shed.
52:18Sometimes things just need a good scrub.
52:20It's amazing how it turns out.
52:22I get the same feeling when I have a shower.
52:25My best budget battle of bargain has to be the barn doors.
52:29Made out of MDF and cost them less than 400 bucks.
52:33They look amazing.
52:35Good work, Lee.
52:37Sometimes life takes a bit of a rumble and tumble.
52:41We know that it was more than the floods that has affected you.
52:44And, Janine, we also know that you have been having a really tough time as well.
52:48And so, Lachlan Pidler from Atlas Property Group, we have gotten to know each other, and he is one of the most genuine.
52:53And I'm proud to call him a friend.
52:55He wants to tell you something.
52:56We would love to send you away for a few days to Hamilton Island in Queensland.
53:01Oh my gosh.
53:01So that you can have a nice little break and really be able to have some time to yourselves and also have some time with each other.
53:07Oh, wow.
53:08Yeah.
53:09That's crazy.
53:10That's crazy.
53:12No way.
53:13Norm and Jess, they go beyond it.
53:17We love them immensely, what they've done for us.
53:20And we feel like we've known them all our lives.
53:22They just make you feel so welcome.
53:24They're just such fair-thinking people.
53:26It's the first time we've ended the show with a Mercedes.
53:28Have a wonderful time.
53:30And thank you for being such the most beautiful, wonderful battlers.
53:33We wish you all the best.
53:34We love you.
53:35Thanks again.
