A 15-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with the murder of a 17-year-old in Sydney’s north west.

00:00Police were called to a reserve behind a school in Rouse Hill yesterday afternoon.
00:07Police say two young boys were approached by a group of three young boys
00:12before an interaction occurred.
00:15They say that during that interaction a 17 year old boy was stabbed in the thigh.
00:20Multiple female witnesses attended to him and tried to resuscitate him
00:25along with paramedics but he died at the scene.
00:29Now hours later police say that a 15 year old boy was accompanied by a parent
00:35when he attended a local police station and he then underwent questioning by police
00:41and late last night that 15 year old boy was charged with the murder of that 17 year old.
00:48Now today he faced Parramatta Children's Court for the first time
00:52and he sat motionless as his lawyer told the court
00:55that he would not be applying for his release on bail.
00:59We heard further details in court that police will allege that this was an unprovoked attack
01:05on a person who did not have a criminal history.
01:08The court was also told that the person was seen in the area matching the description of the 15 year old
01:15wearing a balaclava at the time.
01:19It was also alleged by police that he was the sole person who carried out this alleged murder.
01:25Now his matter has been adjourned until January next year.
01:29In the meantime police are continuing to look for two young boys
01:33who were seen in the area after the incident and are hoping to speak with them soon.
