A 19-year-old man has died, and another is in hospital after a stabbing in Sydney's west last night. A major crime scene has been set up at a bus interchange in the centre of Mt Druitt, where the incident occurred.
00:00Search is on for four masked offenders. Two New South Wales police believe were armed with kitchen knives following last night's fatal stabbing here in Mount Druitt that left one 19-year-old dead and another 19-year-old fighting for his life in hospital.
00:18Police say at around 10pm last night four offenders dressed in black with their faces covered by balaclavas approached three men at the bus interchange at Mount Druitt train station in Sydney's west.
00:30Police say after the four offenders approached those three men one 19-year-old was left with stab wounds to his chest. He was treated by New South Wales paramedics but died at the scene.
00:43That second 19-year-old who is currently in a serious but stable condition in Westmead hospital is believed to have been stabbed through the arm with police going far as saying that that stab wound penetrated his arm and was able to reach his chest.
00:58That third man who is yet to be formally identified is believed by New South Wales police to have effectively been an innocent bystander and is not believed to have been in any way connected.
01:10Police have stopped short of settling on a potential motive but say early investigations lead them to believe the surviving 19-year-old was asked RU67 by the four masked offenders before the alleged stabbing.
01:24He's currently under sedation at Westmead hospital in a serious but stable condition.

01:38Now Mount Druitt's postcode is 2770. Police have stopped short of saying whether or not this could be an escalation of what police have previously described as Sydney's postcode wars.
01:50The male that's in hospital at the moment has been sedated so we haven't had a chance to speak to him yet just to confirm those details.
01:58But our initial reports on the scene was there was some conversation about RU67 obviously one of the street gangs that are out here in Western Sydney and again that's something we'll be following on.
02:09Police say they believe those four masked offenders fled in a southerly direction across the train tracks here at Mount Druitt train station.
02:18They've been combing the area throughout the morning and have also shut the rail line as these investigations continue.
02:24Police have also discovered a knife earlier today although it is unconfirmed as to whether that item is in any way related.
02:32Now the two victims are known to police homicide detectives are currently on scene here joined by local police and New South Wales police have established strike force coberta as these investigations continue.
