00:00So, take risks, push boundaries, explore the uncomfortable, dare to fail in order to achieve.
00:07Baby Reindeer won big, history was made, we celebrated big TV anniversaries and archetypes,
00:12and there was plenty of political chatter. Here's everything that went down at the 76th Emmy Awards.
00:18Stars of some of this year's biggest shows graced the red carpet in downtown LA's Peacock Theatre,
00:23Ready for the Big Night, which was hosted by Eugene and Dan Levy.
00:26The father-son duo kicked off the festivities with a little familial fun.
00:30Without question, my most rewarding dad role ever has been being your dad.
00:41In Schitt's Creek.
00:44Because it got me my first acting Emmy.
00:47They also gave a shout out to some of the biggest shows of the year, including The Bear, Baby Reindeer, and Shogun,
00:53who already made history before the night even began, as the show with the most Emmy wins in a single season.
00:59The creators of Shogun actually had their scripts translated into Japanese, rewritten,
01:05and then translated back into English subtitles that you missed because you were also on your phone watching Sabrina Carpenter eat a hot wing.
01:12Big name presenters like Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short had the crowd on the floor
01:18before presenting Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy to Eben Moss Bacharach.
01:21And when I see an actor, I don't know, I just say, I loved your scene with Nicole Kidman.
01:27Other early wins of the night included Billy Crudup for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series,
01:32Elizabeth Debicki for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series,
01:35and Liza Colon-Zayas, who made history as the first Latina actress to win Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
01:42Thank you, thank you, thank you for giving me a new life with this show.
01:46Throughout the night, the Emmys also highlighted character archetypes on television,
01:50including TV dads, TV moms, and TV villains.
01:54The downside is trying to have a nice, quiet, fine-dining experience,
01:58and drug dealers start asking for advice on how to build their empires.
02:03Elsewhere, the telecast also celebrated 50 years of Saturday Night Live,
02:07with Maya Rudolph, Seth Meyers, Kristen Wiig, and Bowen Yang,
02:10who praised SNL creator Lorne Michaels.
02:12We heard that our dear friend, our mentor, Lorne Michaels,
02:16has been nominated for and lost the Emmy 85 times.
02:22With the presidential election just around the corner,
02:24there was also plenty of references to politics throughout the night.
02:28Today, a Republican candidate for vice president would never attack a woman for having kids,
02:33so as they say, my work here is done.
02:39Meow.
02:40Meow.
02:40Greg Berlanti was honored with the Governor's Award.
02:43There is no thank you that would ever, ever be enough.
02:46I wanted to be a part of television even before I knew how that was possible.
02:50And Jelly Roll gave a moving tribute during the in-memoriam.
02:53I'm not okay, but it's all gonna be all right.
02:58Richard Gad won for lead actor in a limited series,
03:02and also gave an emotional speech for his writing win earlier in the night for Baby Reindeer.
03:06I don't know much about this life.
03:09I don't know why we hear none of that.
03:10But I do know that nothing lasts forever.
03:12And no matter how bad it gets, it always gets better.
03:15As for the final Emmys, Jeremy Allen White and Hiroyuki Sanada won for Best Actor in a Comedy and Drama Series,
03:21and Jean Smart and Anna Sawai took home the award for Best Actress in a Comedy and Drama Series, respectively.
03:27Sawai made history as the first Asian winner in the category.
03:31Thank you to my team, and thank you to my family.
03:34Mom, I love you.
03:35And finally, Hacks, Shogun, and Baby Reindeer took home the awards for Best Comedy, Drama, and Limited Series, respectively.
