00:00TV's biggest night is finally here. Last year's Emmy winners will be revealed on Monday, January 15th,
00:05after the ceremony was postponed due to the actors and writer's strikes.
00:09I'm Tiffany Taylor for The Hollywood Reporter here at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles,
00:13and we're giving you a special preview at the 75th annual Primetime Emmy Awards.
00:17Anthony Anderson is set to host the show for the first time. He told THR why this is a dream gig for him.
00:23This is a show that I've wanted to host for at least the last 10 years.
00:26I've been a part of the show. I've been nominated 11 times. I'm 0 for 11.
00:32But I've also been on stage to help present and to lend my talent to the shows in other ways as well.
00:39Anderson also revealed one way the Emmys will be different this year with him as the host.
00:43There will be no playoff music this year. If you run a little bit too long with your speeches,
00:48my mother's going to come on stage and let you know that you were a little long.
00:52Now, she's going to do it in the most respectful way, so I'm just going to need you to respect my mama.
00:56And if you don't, I just want to let you know she can throw these hands because she's from the west side of Chicago.
01:01She don't play that. But just know, thank your God, thank your family, thank your team,
01:05and get off because my mama has a hot date with who's ever going to win lead actor in the comedy series.
01:10So, Jason Sudeikis, you might get lucky again that night.
01:13Ted Lasso starring Jason Sudeikis is among the shows that landed the most 2023 nominations,
01:18as well as Succession, The Last of Us, and The White Lotus.
01:21Since the ceremony marks a milestone year for the Emmys, the show will celebrate 75 years of television history
01:27with several tributes and reunions from the cast of Cheers, Grey's Anatomy, Game of Thrones,
01:33Ally McBeal, Martin, and more iconic shows.
01:36The whole show is a love letter to television. We've got some big reunions.
01:40We have great theme songs throughout the night, very special pairings, just constantly, you know,
01:48showing people and showcasing not only just the incredible television of yesterday,
01:52but focusing on the incredible television that's being made today.
01:56One special tribute will be a recreation of this iconic chocolate factory scene from I Love Lucy,
02:01with two mystery stars of today playing Lucy and Ethel.
02:04So, who are they? We'll just have to see when the Emmys air live on Fox on Monday at 5 p.m. Pacific, 8 p.m. Eastern.
