00:00Tonight we're hearing from the mother of a man declared missing in Myrtle Beach.
00:06This is not like our son. He would not just disappear without a trace.
00:11He just wouldn't.
00:13Not knowing where her son is or if he's okay, she's living a mother's worst nightmare.
00:19I'm worried that he is hurt. It's the not knowing. It's the nightmare in all this.
00:25I'm worried that someone is hurting.
00:29I just beg the public to keep us in your prayers because, you know, God is the only one that's going to get us all pretty good.
00:42Every suspect accused of a crime has the right to remain silent.
00:46Many agree to be interrogated anyway, but they can stop the interview at any moment, making it a race against time.
00:56Justice hangs in the balance.
01:08Christopher Bowling's mother contacted the Myrtle Beach Police Department because even though he was 25 years old,
01:14Chris was the sort of person who got in touch with his mother fairly frequently.
01:19But he didn't make any contact for five or six days. He stopped showing up at work.
01:23It got to the point where several people were concerned.
01:26Chris's mom, she was just extremely emotional and convinced that something bad had happened to Chris.
01:35Shortly after police received the phone call, they checked local hospitals. No hits on the hospitals.
01:43They went to his apartment, knocked several times. No answer at the apartment. They had no leads. It's like he had just vanished.
01:50Marissa shared with us that Chris was from Tennessee, but moved to Myrtle Beach because his son, who was two at the time, lived in Myrtle Beach.
02:05And he wanted to be closer to his son. She told us that on July 28th, Chris was supposed to have their son and that she had not heard from him.
02:20She said that was very out of character and unlike him, that he was always reliable when it would come to meet him with his son.
02:41And she was extremely worried about Chris.
02:48There was no activity after the late evening of the 27th.
03:02We still weren't sure if there was some kind of foul play, but we all felt that something bad had happened to Chris.
03:11Chris was my best friend. He would even tell people, I'm a mama's boy, you know.
03:28He had a big heart. He loved his sisters. With the youngest one, when she was born, Chris called her his baby. And he was very protective of her.
03:44He was so special and so gifted. He became passionate in rapping. At the age 14, 15, some around in there. I mean, to hear him spit those lyrics out like he did, it's unreal.
04:02Chris had ambition, perseverance. As he got older, he was wanting to be a producer. He would make beats for other kids out there that wanted to go into that type of music.
04:18When he went missing, I felt like I'm in a nightmare and I'm never going to wake up. I keep looking at my phone, hoping that he would text or call. I was praying that Chris was alive.
04:36July 27th is not only the last day Christopher Sky Bowling was officially seen in Myrtle Beach, but it's also the last day Kelly similarly says she heard from her sons.
04:57We want answers. We want answers. We want to know where our son is.
05:18We are speaking with Tyler Panzarella.
05:23How long have you known Chris?
05:25Not too long.
05:27He advised that he did not know Chris very well, that he had met Chris through a mutual friend.
05:34So his son and stuff is here. So he was asking me, he's like, hey, I want to come down to Myrtle Beach and everything. Could you help me out and let me stay with you? I'll pay you rent or whatever. And I was like, yeah, no problem.
05:46And then Tyler told us that Chris decided to come down here with his two friends from back home as well, Bailey and Nick. Once they arrived, Bailey and Nick also asked, hey, can we also stay with you for some time? And he agreed, yes, they all could stay there temporarily.
06:00Last time I heard from him, I think it was like the 26th, 27th, I believe it was. And then he just kept talking about like this girl he was talking about and going to like North Carolina with her.
06:13Who's the girl do you know? I have no idea. I don't know the specific name. And then like they mentioned my phone calls or nothing, anything, nothing at all.
06:23You have Bailey and Nick's numbers. Yeah. Tyler said that after Chris went missing, Nick and Bailey had moved back to Tennessee.
06:34Tyler didn't seem nervous, but the information he was sharing that Chris would all of a sudden run off with a girl as much as he cared about his son, it didn't make sense.
06:47There was a gut feeling that things weren't adding up and that something was wrong.
07:07Nick Henry said that he had not spoken to Chris since the end of July and that he had basically left Myrtle Beach to be with a girl.
07:13Again, it was just more of the same story that just didn't make any sense to us. Something just wasn't right.
07:35Detectives delved into his Snapchat, found a couple of posts that he had made the day that he went missing.
07:41He had posted a full body selfie where you could see what he was wearing. The shoes he was wearing were some blue Jordans.
07:48We learned that Chris was actually making plans to stay in Myrtle Beach. He was in the process of getting his own apartment.
07:56He had posted on social media on the 27th showing that apartment complex that contradicted what we had learned from Tyler and Nick as far as him leaving town with a girl.
08:05We were very suspicious of Tyler. So we had a cadaver dog come out of the house.
08:08We were very suspicious of Tyler. So we had a cadaver dog come out of the house.
08:12and be on scene during the search warrant.
08:19We were very suspicious of Tyler. So we had a cadaver dog come and be on scene during the search warrant.
08:26The cadaver dog that was brought in actually alerted inside the apartment between the living room and the master bedroom.
08:33That was a location that Chris was known to sleep at.
08:35And when the dog got to the area, it positively alerted for human remains.
08:42Speaking to the people that, you know, are in charge of those dogs, they said it could have been something as simple as some kind of trace evidence or something being carried from clothing or from the shoes and that kind of stuff to the apartment.
08:55So at that point, we are transitioning from this missing place to the apartment.
09:00So now we're having direct evidence of a homicide occurring.
09:16Hey Tyler, how are you doing? Good.
09:42I'm Detective Eddie. This is Detective Whitmire. You mind if we step in and talk to you?
09:45Our game plan was to start non-confrontational and kind of let him run the interview at that point.
09:58All you're signing for is that I read to your rights and you understand those rights.
10:01Then after we get his statement on video, we would start questioning the inconsistencies and make it more of an interrogation.
10:12What day was the last time you saw Chris?
10:15The 6th or 27th.
10:16So what was the circumstances around that like?
10:19It was just when he said he was leaving and Nick was like, oh, I think he's just coming with that girl and spending the night.
10:25So I mean like you guys inside when he's like packing up his stuff?
10:28I was leaving because I wanted to go to my friend Devin's house on Caroline Forest.
10:32Anybody else go to you guys?
10:33Yeah, Nicky and Bailey went with me to Devin's.
10:37Did you guys hang around until you saw him leave or you guys just dropped him off?
10:40Just dropped him off.
10:41Like the back of the parking lot?
10:43That's when he was just gone.
10:46Now he's locked himself into the story.
10:48Then that's when we decided to transition to the interrogation, asking direct questions and being able to verify whether he's been caught in a lie.
10:56I knew he was talking to Nick about it.
10:58I didn't talk to him at all.
11:00We're all going to answer.
11:01We don't do our own thing.
11:03You know, originally we were kind of helping the missing persons division, okay?
11:08At this point, I mean, we think that something happened to Chris.
11:11And we're obviously talking to you because you're one of the last people that saw him, okay?
11:15This is the important part, okay?
11:17For you to basically be untruthful and just listen to him for a second, okay?
11:22To tell us everything you know, okay?
11:26Because we think something happened here, possibly an accident, okay?
11:30And we think you know something about it.
11:45We've been investigating for a long time.
11:46The Myrtle Beach Police Department has not not solved an investigation like this since 2000.
11:52Okay, 20 years.
11:54So, what do you think?
11:55What I was saying, that was 100% truthful.
11:58You know what I mean?
11:59I haven't seen it since then.
12:01I'll tell you right now.
12:02When we came here into the search warrant, we had a cadaver dog come.
12:06The dog alerted to a possible deceased person in your apartment.
12:09That doesn't make sense to you.
12:12Where did you learn?
12:13Or, like, where?
12:14Is it just, like, in general?
12:16Or are you just, like...
12:18What I'm trying to do, I mean, I'm not playing games with you.
12:20If you're...
12:21I'm not either.
12:22I know.
12:23I'm just...
12:24I know.
12:25What I'm saying is, I'm trying to give you every opportunity to basically tell us anything additional you may have.
12:28We need to know now because later on, when we put the puzzle together, which we're gonna do, we're not gonna have this conversation.
12:35Does that make sense?
12:37You can tell Tyler was getting a little nervous.
12:41It's at that point he realizes that his story's falling apart.
12:46So he has an option.
12:48And the option is to change his story or tell the truth.
12:52I don't know specific things.
12:56I was cramping that night.
12:59Like, it was just, like, little arguments over stupid stuff.
13:04Have you ever had a weapon?
13:07It was a 9-0 nigger.
13:11But it went missing whenever Nick left.
13:14He left to Tennessee.
13:15Okay.
13:16Do you think that Nick or Bailey would be capable of doing something to Chris?
13:21I wouldn't say Bailey.
13:23I mean, just from, like, the way Nick talks and carries himself.
13:27Like, maybe.
13:30Nick scares me, okay?
13:32If I were to be really honest, like...
13:34Like this was, like, it freaks me out.
13:36And so, like, he, like, said weird stuff about or basically, like, that he might have done something.
13:43And that just scared the out of me.
13:45Like, I've never been around that.
13:46Like, you know what I mean?
13:47What did he tell you?
13:48What was the road?
13:49What's that old haunted road?
13:51Like, on Lucas Bay Road?
13:53I never heard that story.
13:54It was, like, apparently a haunted road back there.
13:57He was saying he went there and, like, did something or whatever.
14:00Like, said he killed somebody.
14:02Mm-hmm.
14:03But, like, then that's when my gun went missing.
14:05But I don't know who it was.
14:07It was scary.
14:08Well, here in that story.
14:09Yeah.
14:10Do you think it could be Chris?
14:11I mean, now?
14:12Yeah.
14:13Honestly.
14:14As Tyler is recounting that part of the story, I felt that he was telling partial truths,
14:27but we were trying to just not show any reaction, just keep him talking.
14:35If you're scared of Nick or Bailey or someone else or, you know, the best thing you do if
14:40you want to help yourself out is tell the truth.
14:43So, did you see Chris dead at any point?
14:50Okay.
14:51Can you tell us what happened?
14:52Vic was telling me to go there.
14:54He thought we were just going to go do some, like, haunted stuff or, like, by that road
14:57or whatever.
14:58So, like, we went there, and then, like, he had my gun or whatever, and then just, like,
15:04hit it.
15:05Like, just shot him.
15:11Vic shot Chris.
15:12How many times did you shoot him?
15:13Where?
15:14Then what happened?
15:15I don't know.
15:16I don't know.
15:17I don't know.
15:18I don't know.
15:19I don't know.
15:20I'm about to cry.
15:21Like, this is, like, the scariest I've ever seen.
15:22I completely understand.
15:23When he's talking about shaking and freaking out, he's showing no emotion at all.
15:36To me, his demeanor seemed like he's being dishonest, but we were extremely concerned
15:43with finding out where Chris was.
15:46So, we didn't want to press too much.
15:50So, you're out there on Lucas Road.
15:51Who's with you?
15:52You?
15:53Nick and Bailey.
15:54Okay.
15:55So, the four of you get out of the car, and what happens?
16:03What was the conversation before the gun went off?
16:10So, how did Nick get the gun?
16:11He just took it out of your car, or who had the gun when the guys got out of the car?
16:14Yeah.
16:15Because I was walking, and he told me to bring it or whatever.
16:18So, I was like, okay.
16:19And then he was like, hey, let me see it.
16:21And I was like, for what?
16:22He's like, I just want to shoot it or whatever.
16:23So, I was like, okay.
16:24And then I handed it to him.
16:26How far were they standing?
16:28I was, like, standing like that.
16:31Okay.
16:32Okay.
16:33So, six feet?
16:35Do you ever take?
16:37Arm extended?
16:38Or?
16:39Yeah.
16:40How?
16:41No, you can.
16:42You don't have anything that you're in.
16:43Yeah, I can't take it.
16:44I'm not literally just like that.
16:46I could tell that he was reliving that moment.
16:52He appeared to be seeing Chris.
16:55He didn't see me standing there.
16:58And you could just see the blank look in his eyes.
17:02It seemed like he was the one that shot Chris.
17:05And he was trying to shift the focus to Nick.
17:09He seemed to be giving us all the facts of the case,
17:12just downplaying his involvement at that point.
17:15So, did Nick say anything right after he shot him?
17:18No.
17:19Nothing.
17:20He just was quiet.
17:21And then he just, like, he was like, take this.
17:23So, he gave you back the gun?
17:24Yeah.
17:25I didn't know what to do.
17:26So, I just grabbed him and went to the car.
17:28He's telling us that Nick shoots somebody with his gun,
17:31with Tyler's gun, and then gives the gun back to him.
17:36At this point, you'd be able to point the gun at Nick if you want to.
17:39You'd be able to say, I'm leaving.
17:40I'm getting in my car.
17:41I'm not taking you with me.
17:42I'm going to the police.
17:43It just doesn't make sense.
17:45So, where's his body now?
17:47Like, Lucas Road somewhere?
17:48Yeah.
17:49You think he could get us close to the spot?
17:51Yeah.
17:52I mean, I could correct that one.
17:53It is.
17:56That moment, Tyler was the lead in the homicide investigation.
18:01At that point, we did not have any physical evidence,
18:07and we did not have a body.
18:10So, we charged him with obstruction of justice
18:14for impeding and hindering our missing person investigation.
18:19He just got back down there.
18:20He just got back down there.
18:45You got a handcuff key on your thing?
18:47Yeah.
18:48You just want to get him out and take the shackles off?
18:52Swing your feet around, man.
18:53We're going to take these leg shackles off real fast.
19:00The entire time, he didn't put off the air of being scared.
19:06He was just cold and emotionless.
19:12It's kind of like saying that you're one, two o'clock.
19:23I think that's about the spot then.
19:25You want to check it out?
19:27For me, in that moment, the lack of emotion just solidified that he was the one that shot Chris.
19:37Be careful where you're stepping up. There's a crime scene.
19:44It's kind of a small town here.
20:06You remember what shoes he was wearing that night?
20:08You see, like, blue Jordans, blue and white.
20:18From where I'm standing, I can see shoes that appear to be the same shoes that Chris was wearing in the Snapchat from the night before he went missing.
20:28For me, that was probably one of the biggest moments of the case, because at that point, you know that it's more than likely going to be Chris.
20:38I remember telling my husband, he's gone. He's gone. I didn't want to believe it. I would have died for him.
21:08He was my part.
21:10He was my part.
21:47I don't want to lie in interviews. You just got to be careful as far as, you know, what you're lying about.
21:52I just talked to a guy in Tennessee. They're saying, some boys there are saying he's the guy.
21:57Sergeant Lent tells them that he just talked to Nick and Bailey and that they are saying that Tyler is the shooter.
22:11What he is saying is a lie.
22:14We had not spoken to Nick or Bailey. We wanted to see if he changed his story or what his reaction was.
22:21They're saying that you planned this. You drove him out there. You had a gun.
22:28Y'all walked out there. You gave the gun. You shot him.
22:31No, I never had a problem with Chris. Nothing ever. I'm not like that, man. I came from a good family. I promise you, man. I would never do that to someone ever.
22:45They say you did it.
22:52No. I'm telling you, I'm a good person. I would never, never in my entire life, ever.
22:58You saying that you was a good guy? Why didn't you call 911 whenever you left there? You just left him out there to die.
23:04Because I was scared, man. I didn't know what to do.
23:09This is your chance? I mean, did you do it? Did you kill him?
23:13No. No. I'm being 100% honest on everything. No. I told you everything that happened. I was... No.
23:21So was it an accident? You shot him by accident?
23:23I never shot him because Nick had the gun.
23:25Or were you just a monster and just say, hey, we're going to take you into the woods and blow your head off?
23:30No, man. Nick had the gun. He's been like... He scares me. He's been scared of me ever since he got...
23:36Like, that's the type of person he is.
23:39So for a normal person, if you are scared and you just saw somebody murder somebody, are you going to, one, take that gun back?
23:45And then if you're truly nervous, now you have the only weapon. So at that point, why not remove yourself from the situation?
23:51But he's doing everything that Nick tells him to do, even when Nick no longer has a gun, which is kind of strange.
23:57I've tried. No, I should have told you guys. I've never been around that. I've never been in that situation.
24:02If you're surrounded by someone every day, you're going to get on each other's nerves.
24:10All right, Tyler, sit tight. We'll be right back again.
24:13Okay.
24:14Sergeant Lent is more assertive, more direct.
24:35I've been sitting in another room, listening to you, listening to everything you say.
24:41And all these guys have told me everything that's been going on for the last three or four weeks or whenever the hell this s*** started.
24:47All right? You're how old?
24:4923.
24:50What do you plan on doing with your life?
24:52Be the best person I can be.
24:54Really? Where do you want to be that best person?
24:58Let me tell you right now, you're fixing to go to prison.
25:02Guess what's going to get done to Tyler?
25:05You're going from here, you're going to get charged with murder.
25:07You're going to be charged with killing Chris.
25:09Do you understand that? Look at me.
25:11Don't sit there and give me these crocodile tears.
25:15Tyler, don't sit here and bull s*** me.
25:28Tyler, you've played the game in here long enough.
25:37You're involved in some s*** that you would have never, ever, ever been done if you were a good person.
25:46Because you don't go out to Lucas Bay Lights and bring a gun into the woods at night if you ain't got something planned.
25:54So be honest.
25:56This story, to be able to tell this story, shouldn't take you any more than five minutes.
26:00From beginning to end.
26:01So that's what you think. You think I'm just that type of person.
26:04And I don't know where you're in.
26:05Yeah, I think you're the kind of person that takes a friend out into the middle of the woods.
26:09From what representation, though, as well?
26:11From your own words!
26:13You took your gun out of the glove box.
26:16You can smile all the s*** you want.
26:18I'm not smiling right now.
26:19You're smirking.
26:20I'm not smirking.
26:21You took your gun out of the s*** damn glove box.
26:23You handed it to a- you say you handed it to another kid who then shot your buddy.
26:27And then you all just-
26:29Let's just go back in the car and go back to my apartment.
26:31It takes you a month to come forward and say-
26:34I didn't know what to-
26:35No!
26:36You didn't know what to do.
26:37You're a good person.
26:38But good people, you know what they don't do?
26:40They don't leave a f***ing kid to lay out in the woods to get eaten by animals.
26:43That's what you did.
26:44You got him.
26:45Five minutes.
26:46Five minutes.
26:47You better talk.
26:52It may appear that he lost his patience and left the room, but that's by plan.
26:56Lent, the quote-unquote bad cop, then Detective DeWitt being the big cop.
27:00That was pretty much our strategy at that point.
27:02After Lent's no longer in the room, hopefully Tyler is now going to open up to the other detective that's in that room.
27:08Because he's being nice and reasonable.
27:10I want to talk to him.
27:13Is there anything else you could think of?
27:15Anything whatsoever?
27:18You know what happened.
27:19You know what the story is.
27:20You know where the body is.
27:22And stuff like that.
27:23I made a mistake.
27:24I should have came to you guys sooner.
27:26And I should have-
27:27I was just-
27:28I didn't know what to do.
27:29I had no idea.
27:30But now I got to live with that.
27:33There's really nothing I can do to get away from this.
27:36No, I know that.
27:39I made a mistake, dude.
27:43Now I got to pay for that.
27:47He never came out and said he was the one who did it.
27:49But the interrogation of Tyler, it was critical.
27:52Because he put himself there, he was the only one who owned a gun.
27:57His story, it didn't make sense.
27:59It didn't all match up.
28:01What is important to consider in this case is that Nick and Bailey are from Tennessee.
28:08Meanwhile, Tyler is from around here.
28:10If any of them would be familiar with a local ghost story that is urban legend around here,
28:17it would certainly have been Tyler.
28:18Now, it was extremely important for the officers to talk to Nick and to talk to Bailey.
28:31For them to establish everything that happened during that shooting.
28:35Here he is.
28:36Here we go.
28:37Here he is.
28:38Here he is.
28:39Here is
28:55He was like very thrown off his game because he was obviously seeing us from Myrtle Beach
29:24in Horry County.
29:25I'm sure that heightened his senses and the fact where it's like he knows why we're there.
29:54Okay.
29:55And we have reason to believe that you are involved in that case.
29:58Okay.
29:59So we're going to go back to the night of July 27, 2020.
30:01Yeah.
30:02Tell everybody.
30:03I don't want to say anything.
30:10Why?
30:11Take some deep breaths, man.
30:16Yeah.
30:17He told me he was like, if you ever tell me if I'm going to give you a little grandpa,
30:23please.
30:24Oh, I didn't have my grandpa.
30:29Please.
30:30Please.
30:31Please.
30:32Please.
30:33Make sure you get new done, dude.
30:37Please.
30:38Yeah, that's my house key.
30:39Take some deep breaths, man.
30:43Don't, please.
30:44Take some deep breaths, man.
30:45Don't, please.
30:46Take some tea.
30:47You're drinking some water.
30:50He was so emotional that he wasn't, he couldn't control himself.
30:56It was important to try to settle him, make him feel comfortable and relaxed.
31:18There are times where you need to be softer and coax the information that you are trying
31:27to learn.
31:28Before the four days, please, your side of the story, and we'll have a conversation.
31:32That's all we're going to do today, okay?
31:34So tell him what happened.
31:37I'm thinking this is Todd, we're getting him.
31:40You're getting what?
31:41You're starting him.
31:43Please don't tell him I told you.
31:48So, Todd's in jail, so he's not a threat to your family, okay?
31:56But, unfortunately, he's got you wrapped up in this, okay?
32:00So we're just trying to see what you can provide to us from your point of view, okay?
32:05To make sure we have the story here, okay?
32:08So that's what we're looking for from you.
32:14Okay, so we're in the car, and we're driving.
32:19Who was there?
32:20Baby Skye's house.
32:22Whenever you say Skye, who's Skye?
32:25What's his real name?
32:27Chris.
32:29I guess Skye said something about his nephew or something like that, and started making fun of him, and
32:35Tyler just looked at me like that was the last straw.
32:39They haven't really got along.
32:42What else can you tell me?
32:44We're just driving and driving, and I didn't know where the hell we're going.
32:49And his face was on some old dirt road, and he was talking about some haunted forest or haunted something.
32:57And everybody was just freaked out.
32:59And we started walking, and he made sure he was behind us.
33:05And we all got somewhere wherever he wanted us to go to.
33:10But he told us that it was a specific concert.
33:13And he just threw soup.
33:17I was just terrified.
33:20I didn't know if I was going to die to him.
33:23And, you know, it was just, it was, I've never seen anything like that before, and I didn't know what to do.
33:32So you didn't touch somebody at all?
33:34No.
33:35I promise I didn't.
33:36I swear to God.
33:37So you don't pulse nothing?
33:38Just left him there.
33:39Just left him there.
33:40I was scared.
33:41He just popped him in front of me.
33:46One of the differences in the interview with Nick, as opposed to the interview with Tyler, Nick was very upset and showing fear, a lot of emotion.
34:04He just seems to be saying what he's feeling and exactly what he's trying to convey.
34:11He's actually scared of the whole situation compared to, like, where Tyler's very composed.
34:18Why did he say he shot?
34:21Tyler said I shot him?
34:23Mm-hmm.
34:24Because Tyler shot him.
34:26Like, like, listen, bro.
34:28Like, I'm telling y'all that God's honest, too.
34:31I did not do it.
34:33He did it.
34:36When you see someone get extremely emotional in the face of an allegation of a crime, moving around and waving around, usually they're being honest because they're worried and upset that you're going to believe false information.
34:55But with Nick, we thought to push him a little further and see if his emotions changed, if his demeanor changed, and if anything in his story changed.
35:08And I have the proof that it was his gun.
35:09It was the first day I met him and he showed me.
35:10It was not me.
35:11I swear to God.
35:12It was the first day I met him and he showed me.
35:14It was not me.
35:15I swear to God.
35:16I swear to God.
35:17I swear to God.
35:18I swear to God.
35:19I swear to God.
35:21God.
35:22I swear to God.
35:23I swear to God.
35:24I can't.
35:25I swear to God.
35:26I swear to God.
35:27I swear to God.
35:28I swear to God.
35:29I'm not suggesting that, to me, this house maker's boss, what's.
35:30I have the water ran around here.
35:31I swear to God and I love him.
35:32You Odd without without me supuesto.
35:33I'm sure I怎麼辦 like that.
35:34Huh?
35:35Give me a good way.
35:36You deceived him.
35:37Iaat all that from the believers right there.
35:38Yeah.
35:39What is that?
35:40Show that.
35:41Oh.
35:42Yeah.
35:43Where is it?
35:44Ah, tell me about what it is.
35:46What is that?
35:47Show me a better picture.
35:48right here. Look at it! Shit! Who did that?
36:09We're gonna tell his kids, man. Huh?
36:16Who is that right here? Look at it.
36:21That's God, but I didn't do it. I swear to God I didn't do it.
36:26I did not want none of that to happen to him. I swear to God.
36:29I swear to God on everything. I promise. I swear to God.
36:33Like, I'm the one who took him down there to see his kids.
36:36And now he's dead! It's not my fault!
36:38He's dead! It's not my fault, bro.
36:46Even under that extreme pressure, you know, he's still saying he didn't do it.
36:51It's not my fault.
36:53He's still naming Tyler the person that did it.
36:56So you're seeing him actually get frustrated, getting angry about the situation
36:59because he's being blamed in his mind for something that he didn't do.
37:02Did you talk to the plan with Tyler?
37:08No.
37:09Did you contribute to the plan that Tyler had for this whole situation?
37:11No.
37:12Neither did Bayley.
37:14What percent of responsibility do you think Tyler has for this?
37:18What happened? Zero, a hundred. Zero being the least, a hundred being the worst.
37:22Like a hundred. He's the one who...
37:25Let me ask you this.
37:26Bayley, what percentage do you think he is for this?
37:30None. Zero.
37:32Zero percent?
37:33Yeah.
37:34And what percent do you think you are for this?
37:36I couldn't say anything. I couldn't.
37:40Percentage why? Do you think you have no responsibility for what happened?
37:44I mean, I couldn't help it. So like maybe like two or something.
37:48But I can't, I can't, I can't just stop that.
37:50Cause he was going to do that to me too.
37:55Like, please, it wasn't me. I swear to God, it wasn't me.
38:00Watching Nick, I think that his emotions were real in that aspect.
38:03Everything he said and the way he was reacting,
38:05I really believe that he was scared of Tyler at that point.
38:08What made it believable was the fact that Nick was not just scared for himself.
38:13He was scared for his grandfather and for his family.
38:18He seemed to get more emotional talking about that.
38:22All right, this is a voluntary statement.
38:24Everything you just told us, you'll be writing on paper.
38:27All right.
38:29Let's take your time.
38:34It's very important cause Bailey hasn't had the finger point at him yet.
38:51So we wanted to really talk to Bailey cause we figured that he'd be the most independent person.
38:55Is he going to say that it was Nick? Is he going to say that it was Tyler?
38:57So here's the deal Bailey. We ultimately know what happened to Chris.
39:10We know you were there. What we're looking for now is to see how cooperative you're going to be with us.
39:28Because we don't need you getting in trouble just because your friends put you in a bad situation.
39:32Because nobody said you did anything, but you were there.
39:36What I need to know is, did Tyler shoot him? Or did Nick shoot him?
39:41Who shot him? Who pulled out that gun?
39:44Tyler.
39:45Tyler pulls out his gun and shoots who?
39:48Chris.
39:49How many shots?
39:50Just one.
39:51Okay.
39:52Did he make any direct threats to you?
39:54I mean, he told me if something happened, he'd know.
39:58Some other people we've spoken to said Nick shot him.
40:03No, it wasn't.
40:05No, just because he's my friend, don't mean I'm going to stand up for him.
40:09Cause I don't think it's right either way.
40:12Um, but it was Tyler.
40:15Would you be willing to take a photograph to show that you're not having fighting false information to us today?
40:20Yes, sir.
40:21All right.
40:22Sit tight for me, all right?
40:23Yes, sir.
40:26After Bailey's interview, he wrote a written statement.
40:30And then he also drew a sketch where the vehicle was parked and the way they were standing in the woods.
40:39And it just strengthened our case and Nick and Bailey's version of events.
40:51Bailey gave police all the information that he was able to, and he did not lie.
40:59Investigators determined that Bailey's involvement in this case was mere presence.
41:04And at that point, he was allowed to leave the police department.
41:08Bailey was never charged with anything related to this case.
41:14The interrogations were extremely important in this case.
41:18The initial interrogation with Tyler was obviously the huge turning point.
41:31All three interrogations put together gave us that timeline of events and the details of what happened that evening.
41:41Normally, you can kind of keep yourself detached from cases.
41:46For some reason, this case, it was like Chris didn't do anything to kind of bring this upon himself.
41:51He was trying to go to work, trying to be in his child's life.
41:55We all really fought really hard to try to find the facts and the truth of what happened in this case to bring closure to his family.
42:02I want people to talk to his family.
42:31I want people to remember Chris the way I remember Chris.
42:36The happy, joyful, witty, charming kid that he was.
42:45If I could say something to Chris right now, I would tell him that I loved him and hopefully one day I'd see him soon.
42:57I want people to be here.
42:58I'm not sure.
43:00I don't know if anything at this point, but I want him to know that.
43:03I've never touched my mind.
43:05But I'm here to live when I can't believe it.
43:07I'm here to be my partner at the stage.
43:09Oh!
43:11I'm here to live.
43:13I got my friends, too.
