00:00Hardcore Harvids!
00:05Now that the glass doors off of the living room have arrived, I'm really excited.
00:13The frame is in the wrong way round. I love doing things twice.
00:17I just let one thing to be finished.
00:20New windows in.
00:23You know, they're in.
00:26I think it actually completely transforms that space.
00:34Living in the basement, it's been really hard.
00:37Getting it finally finished and looking amazing is going to be superb.
00:43It's really important that Jaz and I try and grab little windows of time together when we can.
00:49My dad would probably flip his lid if he saw this.
00:53He's very much a perfectionist.
00:58Don't turn too early.
01:04It's looking amazing, isn't it?
01:06Good.
01:07Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that something like this would be a reality.
01:12In it.
01:26Down on the Costa del Sol.
01:28The dust.
01:30Jasmine and John's housewarming party is looming.
01:33Now just a matter of weeks away, there's still loads to do.
01:42Lots going on all over the house, inside and outside.
01:52It feels like it's kind of exploded.
01:54All of the work is happening at once.
01:59Oops.
02:00Trying not to break the new work time.
02:02With Dominic and his team deep into renovation upstairs, the family have been living in the basement.
02:08Which has given Jasmine the impetus to prioritise finishing this space.
02:11We're so close to being finished.
02:16So close.
02:18I'm sure we could finish everything that needs to be done down here in no time if it was on the top of the priorities.
02:28But obviously there are so many other things going on.
02:30A lot of the project managing has fallen to me in the end because Dominic is just so busy with everything else and with the build and liaising with all the different trades.
02:46And I do feel like I'm in above my head.
02:51Because I don't know what I'm doing.
02:54I don't know what comes first and what I need to do before I can do that or why.
02:57And so, yeah, that's probably not helping things move forward quickly.
03:06John is busy filming a well-loved British property series and the school holidays have started.
03:12Keen to avoid the kids spending it on a building site, Jasmine has found a local solution.
03:18I found a lovely summer camp for them.
03:22It's about five minutes away and they can go there.
03:25It's all about nature.
03:27They can spend time with other kids and it's from ten till five, Monday to Friday.
03:32So that gives me a good chunk of time during the day when I can be getting on with all of this stuff and they don't have to be living on a building site all day.
03:39I feel like I'm in the epicentre of this most ridiculous chaos that's going on and it's all pressure from all sides.
03:54And I feel like at any moment it's all going to cave in.
04:06Despite all the stress and strains Jasmine is getting stuck in eager to maintain momentum starting with John's media wall.
04:13So this is the lime wash.
04:17I must say I really like the way it looks.
04:20That kind of rustic feel.
04:22The only thing is I'm not so sure about the texture of it.
04:26You know, it feels quite rough.
04:30I'm quite a tactile person.
04:31I like things that feel nice to the touch.
04:35I hope I've done it right.
04:37Maybe I need to give it a little sand to make it smoother, but that might just ruin it.
04:41If I go over it too many times then you lose the rustic lime wash effect.
04:47So, believe me, I'm not an expert.
04:50My dad would probably flip his lid if he saw this, you know, painting because he's very much a perfectionist and he would not like this.
05:01You can see all the brush strokes and you can see a little bit of the white paint underneath coming through.
05:06But, you know, that is how it's supposed to look.
05:09I think it looks good.
05:12Now I look at it from a distance, it looks better.
05:15But the idea of this bit was that it would look kind of industrial, a bit like, you know, bare concrete.
05:24And I think that it definitely achieves that effect.
05:29So hopefully John will like it as well.
05:34Elsewhere in the basement...
05:36Oh, sorry, love.
05:38We're all looking for something.
05:39I know.
05:40The large stone effect wall tiles are already up in the bathroom, so the floor tiles are next for brick and tile laying specialist Matthew.
05:49Is that a two mil?
05:51That's a two mil.
05:52Yeah, it's fine.
05:53Yeah?
05:54I think so.
05:55Are you happy with that?
05:56Yeah, yeah.
05:57I think it's fine.
05:58Yeah, that's good.
05:59I just want to see how it works for this shower.
06:00Yeah, exactly.
06:01So you, yeah.
06:02A crappy cut on this.
06:03Yeah, good idea.
06:05I was hoping that you were going to do that.
06:07Obviously they'll be staggered differently.
06:09Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
06:10I just want to see which way.
06:11Yeah, exactly.
06:12Which way is now, I understand.
06:15Once the tiling is done, the suite will be installed and then Jasmine can add her finishing touches.
06:21That's the mirror.
06:22Okay, it's a mirror.
06:23Yeah.
06:24It's one of those, um, heated ones.
06:27Ah, right, so it doesn't seem up.
06:29That's better, isn't it?
06:30Yeah.
06:31It's 500 roughly.
06:34I mean, you see.
06:35The hand basin about there.
06:45Yeah, you're talking there, didn't you?
06:47A little bit, I'd put it a touch higher, because not that high though.
06:50Just half.
06:51There?
06:52Split the difference.
06:53Somewhere about there.
06:54Okay.
07:04Back over in the main basement room, Quinn and Dominic are getting ready to work on one of
07:09John's more techy interior design ideas.
07:13When we went to visit this inspirational villa, they had acoustic panelling in their basement
07:19and in the gym area as well, and it looked great.
07:23John has ordered nine panels.
07:25That's complete with the nine LED lighting strips, cost a grand total of 1,600 pounds.
07:32This panelling, we've got to cut it exactly, and then the LED slides in it.
07:39The problem is, John's not here at the moment, is he?
07:42So, his description of what he wants, so we're not quite sure at the moment, but we're doing what we can.
07:48What are you going to do?
07:49One of the squares?
07:50Yeah.
07:51The squares are very...
07:52Watch.
07:53Look at that, Quinn.
07:54What's that?
07:55The second you cut through it, they're all on the move.
07:57Yeah, it's got a staple on the line.
07:58Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
07:59I knew that was going to happen, look.
08:00Oh, yeah, that's fine.
08:01So, that might work, as in, just cut down there.
08:06Have you got a shot of Stanley?
08:07Yeah, I do, actually.
08:08Got it?
08:09Get hold of it.
08:14All right, yeah, ma'am.
08:17Cutting the panels to shape and size is a delicate process, and with no extra panels for mistakes or breakages, Dominic and Quinn can't afford any mishaps.
08:28Great.
08:32It's going to look great.
08:34It's like it was made to measure.
08:36Exactly.
08:38Beautiful.
08:40Nice.
08:42Yeah, we'll have a chat with John, because they don't go to the ground, they've got to be staggered.
08:47They come to the top, but they don't go to the ground.
08:50What?
08:51The LEDs.
08:52I think that's what...
08:53The LED strips, John said he wants them to be more random.
08:55Oh, I'm with you, the LEDs.
08:56I thought you meant that, because I know they're going to be feathered off at the top.
09:00Yeah.
09:01Yeah, but they don't hit the ground there, so...
09:03Yeah, as long as they're staggered and they look random, I think I'll be fine.
09:07I think sometimes the best way is just not overthinking it and just kind of going wherever it goes, isn't it?
09:12But we are on the case of it.
09:15Let's do it then.
09:16Let's do that.
09:17They've got to come downwards.
09:20John's plan for staggered LED lighting in the panels involves cutting the two and a half metre strips of LED lights, but there is only just enough.
09:29Well, you don't know if it works yet.
09:33I don't know if it works or not, no.
09:36Each one can only be cut once and they can't be soldered back together, so there is no margin for error.
09:43There you go.
09:47Oh, yeah.
09:48There you go.
09:49That's brilliant, isn't it?
09:50Turn it off for a sec.
09:52These wires are very small.
09:55Really?
09:56They do.
09:57Yeah, amazing.
09:59It's fantastic.
10:00Yeah, it's very good, isn't it?
10:03It just disappears when it goes off.
10:05Yeah, look.
10:06Lovely.
10:07That's really good.
10:08With my eyesight, I can't even see it when it's off.
10:14Although progress is being made, between ferrying the kids around, doing her own work and managing this complicated renovation to a deadline,
10:23for Jasmine, the strain is starting to take its toll.
10:28It's too much for one person to cope with.
10:31You know, I used to think, I used to think that I was indestructible and I used to think I can cope with anything that's thrown at me.
10:47And I don't know what it is.
10:50I don't know if I've just got more on than ever before or if it's because I'm getting old.
10:56But it's getting, it's getting hard to cope.
11:14Down in Estepona.
11:16Tubos, tubos or tubas?
11:19Tubos, I think.
11:21Jasmine is managing the build all on her own.
11:24So we've still got phase two going on of the renovation and we're deeply into phase three as well.
11:34No hay luces dentro de las aracenas en este lado.
11:38Solo aquí y aquí.
11:39Solo aquí?
11:40Si.
11:41Porque son de cristal.
11:42Vale, perfecto.
11:43Okay.
11:44And nothing's finished.
11:46I'm trying to chase different people, different products, buying things, finding out things are wrong.
11:53It is a real juggle.
11:54Down in the basement, the doorway between the main room and the gym is being plastered.
12:03Meanwhile, upstairs, a thin layer of screed, a mixture of fine sand and cement, is spread across the kitchen floor.
12:10It will create a level surface to lay the marble tiles that have been picked to match with those already in the living room.
12:17Once dry, Matthew can lay the new marble floor.
12:20They're all different, different thicknesses, sometimes different widths, different lengths.
12:32You've got to be...
12:34Because it's such a natural material, they're very random.
12:38This marble has been specially selected to easily blend with the flooring that's already in the living room.
12:45Look.
12:48That's how random they are, the tiles.
12:52These are okay for laying.
12:54I mean, you can get away with a bit with these because after, once this is all done,
13:00and you fill the joints in with a really high Newton cement slurry,
13:06and then once it's all grinded out, it'll look flat anyway.
13:12So if you're a little bit up, a little bit down, once it's all, yeah, it'll look all natural and naturally level-like.
13:21Whilst lead tile and Matt carries on laying the kitchen floor,
13:25back down in the basement, Dominic and Quinn are carrying on with the installation of the acoustic panelling
13:32with its disappearing LED strips.
13:35This is exciting.
13:37I suppose the only one thing is that those two finish at the same height.
13:41If we wanted to be perfectly random, we could squidge it somewhere slightly different.
13:48Maybe that one can go to sort of there, if that's possible.
13:52Is that possible or is that...?
13:53If you've got a chance, you could do it now, Quinn.
13:56Because once the glue gets...
13:58Put, Quinn, pull it by the, yeah, by the cable, not by the...
14:03That's so gentle.
14:08That's not a bit of depth on it now.
14:11Yeah, that looks a bit better.
14:13Let me stand back and look at it.
14:16Looks good.
14:18Let me take a quick little picture for John.
14:19Sorry, Dominic. Just one quick picture for John.
14:23He's the only one that counts.
14:25Exactly.
14:27We've already installed the two, as you can see on the wall there, and the LEDs are working.
14:32But now we've got the difficult bit.
14:33We've got to put them on the ceiling.
14:36So there's two more hole panels to go up.
14:40And then the difficult two that need cutting and making into a star sort of fingered shape at the end.
14:47So, yeah, time-consuming.
14:53It's not super difficult, but over 200 euros a panel, you've got to be very careful what you're doing.
14:59While John's panelling project progresses, it's time for Jasmine to put her own mark on the basement level by kitting out the gym.
15:11So she's heading along the coast to a fitness equipment warehouse to scope out the options.
15:16Keeping fit has always been something that's part of my life and that's really important.
15:22And I spent 10 years working in health and fitness as an instructor, aerobics teacher, personal trainer, before I worked in television.
15:32So having a home gym is something I've never had the luxury of being able to do before, because I've never had that sort of space available.
15:42Estoy buscando algunas máquinas y pesas para un pequeño gimnasio en casa.
15:51Muy bien. Nosotros tenemos un lema que es try before you buy.
15:56I'm thinking, I don't know, two or three cardio machines that we can use and some weights, maybe a few other accessories like bands or a ball or something like that.
16:09También tenemos, estas son las dumbbells, las hexagonal dumbbells, que son las que más vendemos.
16:15Cuidado que pesa.
16:17Es bastante, demasiado para mí.
16:21I really want a punch bag as well.
16:23I used to love boxing, so that's one thing I'd quite like to do again, it's good for taking out all my anger.
16:31Mi marido, hace cinco meses, rompió su pierna.
16:38Jugando padel.
16:40Entonces, le podríamos recomendar la elíptica.
16:46Nice.
16:48Nice and smooth.
16:49Tienes ventilador también.
16:51Ah, ventilador.
16:52En las máquinas es muy importante también.
16:53¿Puedo?
16:55¿Ves?
16:56Para refrescarlo.
16:57Mejor.
17:02¿Y eso tiene las brazos también?
17:04Sí, esa es una air bike.
17:06Air bike.
17:07Que hace un entrenamiento completo.
17:10Este es el rowing machine, el remo.
17:13Lo agarras así.
17:14¿Vale?
17:15Aquí tienes la resistencia.
17:19Y la máquina empieza sola.
17:20¿Vale?
17:22Es nice.
17:23I'm actually quite happy here.
17:24I could stay on here for a while.
17:26At this level it's the...
17:27I think it's lo más fácil.
17:29Sí.
17:30We can put more resistance.
17:31No, no.
17:32Está bien.
17:33Está bien así.
17:34Los hombros, los brazos, la espalda.
17:38Tienes que tener la espalda activa.
17:39Sí.
17:40Sí.
17:41Sí.
17:42Sí.
17:43Al final creo que la bicicleta, aire.
17:46Ajá.
17:47De aire.
17:48Air bike.
17:49Me gusta y...
17:50El remo.
17:51The rowing machine.
17:52Muy bien.
17:53Y una elíptica.
17:54Y una elíptica.
17:55Perfecto.
17:56Una elíptica y las pesas.
17:58Vale.
17:59Having a home gym is, like, beyond luxury.
18:04I came from a low-income family.
18:06You know, it's so aspirational and it's always kind of been in the back of my mind that one day, maybe,
18:13but I never really thought it would become a reality.
18:16So I think, yeah, it's an absolute luxury and I'm very, very lucky to have it.
18:20With the equipment sourced, Jasmine can get out of her gym gear to check on the progress of another luxury item,
18:29the marble flooring.
18:31Mmm.
18:33Oh, wow.
18:37Amazing how quickly this floor goes down.
18:41I think it's going to match quite nicely with the original marble once it's all polished up.
18:46I just hope that we can get it finished.
18:49Well, we have to get it finished because otherwise the kitchen won't be able to be fitted.
18:53Oh.
18:56It's nice to see the progress.
19:01Oh!
19:03The floor is clean.
19:06The dust.
19:07Oh, the plaster.
19:10Finally, the plaster's done this.
19:13Living in the basement is fine, but if only it had been completed before we moved down there,
19:20it would be so much easier and so much more relaxing.
19:24It's fine.
19:25We've got everything we need, but basically it feels a bit like camping.
19:29This temporary living means that meal times are often improvised.
19:36How many pickles do you need for all of us?
19:38Ten.
19:39Here.
19:40Here.
19:41Ten?
19:42Only ten?
19:43Twenty.
19:44As many as you need.
19:45I'll do the avocado.
19:46You do the pickles.
19:48We have been coping okay with making meals down in the basement.
19:55We have wraps quite often.
19:58Mmm.
19:59This is my favourite non-cooking dinner.
20:04Making a wrap is quite nice because the kids can just choose their own toppings
20:08and they can put it in themselves and everyone can get involved.
20:12So it's just a really easy meal.
20:15Can you wrap mine?
20:16I'll show you how to do it.
20:18Ready?
20:20Top and bottom.
20:22So it's good.
20:23It's fine.
20:24You know, I won't be doing any sort of cordon bleu or fancy cooking down there in the basement.
20:33So what do you two think of this little arrangement living down here?
20:38It's a bit boring.
20:40It's basically the same as being upstairs, but one big room.
20:46And more working.
20:49How about you, Joy?
20:50It's actually really annoying the fact that we have, A, no working bathrooms down here.
20:56Yeah, really annoying.
20:57And B, no ovens, so we can't have, like, any nice cook dinners or anything.
21:03Often there's, like, nowhere to charge our computers, still.
21:07Aww.
21:09Glad to see you two have got your priorities right.
21:11LAUGHTER
21:12But at least we've got somewhere to be.
21:17I say that, but we haven't really, because it's still full of dust and full of building work
21:22and builders there all the time, it's still not finished.
21:26But we can make, we're making do, it's fine.
21:30On the Costa del Sol, Jasmine and the build team are wrapping up the renovation of the basement.
21:49John's media wall is in the final throws, it's been limewashed by Jasmine, and the acoustic panelling has started going into the alcoves.
22:05The next step is to install a key element, the television.
22:09Are you winning there?
22:11Oh, yeah.
22:13I'm winning the war.
22:14So, is the plan to just do the panelling, leave a blank square in the middle behind the TV?
22:21Yeah.
22:22That's good.
22:23And the same distance between each side.
22:25Oh, you can just, it can move sideways.
22:28You can move everywhere.
22:29So, it can move laterally.
22:30Oh, yeah, I see, I see, I see.
22:31All right, that's a good bracket, isn't it?
22:34With the TV in place, time to finish off the acoustic panelling.
22:38It's been a tricky task for Dominic and Quinn.
22:43There it is.
22:45You want to come this in, Quinn?
22:48The last couple of lengths are being glued and screwed.
22:52I haven't even made my mind up where it's going yet.
23:00This is white when I come to work.
23:05Beautiful.
23:06Plug that in and check it.
23:09In case it don't work out the box.
23:13Cool.
23:16Before the final LED strips are slotted into place.
23:25Oh, my arms.
23:27I really like the look of them.
23:30I can't say I would have picked them out to have.
23:34But now I see them up, they do look very effective.
23:39John made a good choice.
23:40The bathroom, gym and main basement room are getting super close to completion.
23:52Well, we'll get that screen, put it in.
23:55Quick cutting round the top of here.
23:57Fit that.
23:59This bathroom is done, then done.
24:00And a rather large delivery arriving out front is about to have a big impact on one of those spaces.
24:10Oh, it's huge!
24:14That is...
24:16I think it's going to touch the floor.
24:18No, it's going to be too tall.
24:25Yes.
24:30Is it going to fit?
24:32No!
24:34Is it too big?
24:37It's not good. It's touching the floor.
24:40Oh, dear.
24:42Yes.
24:43Yes.
24:44Yes, I have to swap pitch.
24:45Yes.
24:47Yes, because it's too big.
24:51Oh, shame.
24:56As the bulky gym kit makes its way into the basement through the double doors at the back,
25:00rubber flooring is laid over the original terracotta floor tiles in preparation very very
25:07exciting delivery today we've had all the gym equipment arrive which is just I think it's kind
25:16of blowing my mind that we're getting a punch bag as well which I think will be one of the things I
25:22use the most when I get annoyed or frustrated looking at that gym I'm thinking now I've got
25:44no excuse I really do have to use it
25:52the next morning John is back and Jasmine can't wait to show him the progress
25:59initially it didn't really feel like a space that you'd ever want to go into what do you think Alves
26:09I know you're thinking this screams Spanish dream lifestyle yeah definitely for one it was open
26:20to the elements to it was dirty it was cluttered it was very just uninviting this isn't even finished
26:30I mean the garage door is basically a shower curtain this keeps these obey I think when we first saw it
26:40I looked at it I looked at it and I thought this is pretty grim but I can see its potential
26:45oh it's looking amazing isn't it oh it's good
26:50I mean genuinely a completely different room
27:01now it's just an amazing space somewhere that you would want to hang out and be there and it's
27:11bright it feels modern it is just a really lovely addition to the house oh don't cry I'd say like
27:23are you crying because now you're gonna have to get fit damn it I had very little involvement with
27:34the sort of vision and the formation of the gym so when I saw it with jazz for the first time it was
27:39a real I think for jazz and for me it was a real pinch me moment of you know I own a house that now has a
27:45fully functioning gym and you know it's not something we ever thought we'd achieve whether
27:52I use it or not may remain to be seen it feels like a massive extravagance to have it but it's just amazing
28:03coming from a very working-class family in a really underprivileged area of London you know
28:13never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that something like this would be a reality in
28:19I mean so that make you cry
28:23well all the houses I've looked at over the years and they're so aspirational
28:32imagine having something like that and then actually having something like that it's kind
28:37of overwhelming yeah I just have to make sure we use it go on then yeah no time like the present
28:46I like wet myself hell
28:55me breathe out breathe in as you come down
29:02breathe out on the exertion just keep moving I'm gonna space here to get up to move the bench out of the way
29:19I think we've had two children
29:32while a lot of the focus has been on the gym and main entertainment space work has been ticking along
29:42in the basement bathroom that's now also complete the bathroom in the garage when we first came was
29:50not particularly nice careful I'll be much don't trip a very luxurious toilet what did you think of the
30:00window there is none there is just a hole in the wall there was no door on it for one thing there was a
30:08toilet and there was a sink and a broken tap you know the plumbing was there that's about the only
30:15thing that made it an actual bathroom this has come together really well in the end hasn't it
30:29mind-blowing to think what this was and what it is now I mean and it was quite good use of the
30:37leftover tiles as well a really good use the upstairs bathroom and from the basement floor
30:46but her making herself over the cat literally asleep on the towels she's found her new favorite place in
30:52the house you know the whole process of this renovation has been quite slow going and it's been quite hard
31:00you know getting the progress that we want so having an area that is now done it's finished we can take it off
31:10the list it feels really good to celebrate the finished room Jasmine has organized a special day trip to
31:18Malaga it's a chance for the couple to reconnect after the stresses and strains of being apart it's really
31:25important that Jaz and I try and grab little windows of time together when we can because when I'm back
31:32from work there's so much going on with the house and there's so much going on with the kids it's
31:37important that we try and spend some time together every time we come to Malaga we pass by the fortress
31:45and we've actually never been inside so we're having a guided tour today looking around with a lovely
31:52chap called Paco he's going to tell us about the history and show us all the best spots
32:08towering above Malaga's old town the Alcazaba fortress is a Moorish marvel dating back to the 11th
32:15century built in a period of turmoil towards the end of the powerful ruling by the Caliphate of
32:21Cordoba a medieval Islamic State who ruled over much of Spain the Alcazaba has an interesting story
32:29to tell they needed to be in the fortress quite quickly when the Caliphate of Cordoba was broken
32:35so they use it without money so they use a different pool material that we barrel sea stones and bricks
32:42the Moors who came to Spain from North Africa ruled for some 800 years between the 8th and 15th century
32:57with Malaga being the main arrival point for soldiers and an important military stronghold all these kind
33:04of towers I have small corners because usually one attack was on a horse so with all these doors and the horse come a bit slowly it is slowly and you have soldiers in all the wars with different arms defending the fortresses what was easy so it's not like if you were attacking on horseback
33:26so you haven't got a nice straight runs that was very difficult the corner was to slow you down so
33:33everyone could then yeah I mean it's clever really isn't it we look at it as just really unusual beautiful
33:40interesting architecture but it all has a purpose behind it the Alcazaba wasn't just a stronghold it was a
33:49whole world of its own with elegant courtyards tranquil gardens living quarters and even baths the Alcazaba was
33:58as much a palace as it was a fortress a little fortified town perched above the sea and now you can see this
34:06garden with a typical phone team because we have a lot of water the water is one element very important
34:13during the Muslim period we need to use the water to purify before prime say the mosque to have life to
34:20the plants the trees the garden you see here we can see for example this jasmine is not the local
34:27jasmine it's not a local no the local the local jasmine is coming from the from Arabia from the dessert but
34:34this is a Chinese is different because the flowers are smaller smell different and they produce a lot and I
34:44need to tell you one secret jasmine is a nice repellent from the mosquitoes I had no idea that jasmine was a
34:55mosquito repellent a natural mosquito repellent I'm going to be planting jasmine everywhere
35:04here wow wow that is spectacular no they had the mountains here that is an amazing view yeah
35:20it's very nice thank you so much what a lovely amazing visit thank you for your insight you're
35:27welcome the views were spectacular i mean you cannot beat that view of malaga city
35:37the gardens were so stunning surrounded by jasmine and all the lovely indigenous plants
35:45and i really like the arches because actually for some reason under there you kind of feel
35:52the place has got a soul this really helps you to explore the history and i think that will
35:59definitely be back the belated end of phase two is in sight what was a garage space and bathroom
36:19has been upgraded into a home gym a fully renovated bathroom and is soon to be a multi-use
36:27entertainment zone dominic and his team are preparing the basement for the delivery of the
36:33center point of the room that is a beast and delivering the goods is jasmine and john's trusted
37:09no mucho no i said mucho no i said mucho but i could pass it watch the top let's i said top go on mate
37:17watch the step with the air hockey table weighing over 200 kilograms
37:22it's taking a lot of manpower to shift it yeah go on i've got it mate no i ain't
37:28go on mate don't turn too early as well as managing the weight the height could be an issue go on crack on
37:41boys
38:02with the table in place there's only one thing left to do
38:05dominic is it going to go on and at the end of the day we've tried the machine and we've done a
38:11duel in inglaterra contra españa it works
38:26yeah
38:35go on goal actually didn't lose i scored it myself
38:56all that remains is for jasmine to add the finishing touches to the room
39:00the basement is such an amazing space
39:10it had so much untapped potential and now i just think i i i i can't think of a way we
39:17could improve it i think it's fantastic
39:22having been living in the basement we've kind of seen it slowly slowly coming to fruition and so
39:28those last finishing touches it's exciting
39:33for me the basement will eventually be the best room in the house
39:42looks so different now doesn't it i mean so different
39:46oh my god
39:59again you sort of think about what this room was when we first looked around the house
40:04yeah
40:07i mean it's definitely become way more than we had planned right well it's almost like you don't need
40:14the rest of the house now where the kids would happily live down here
40:22we always set out with the goal for the basement to be a really fun space
40:27somewhere the kids could hang out with friends or we could have little parties
40:31and i think i think jazz has nailed it i think it's going to be a really fun space
40:35i was always a bit worried how you would create like a cozy feeling in such a huge open space
40:43but i feel like with the different zones i feel like it's good
40:48that we've achieved it we just need the disco zone finishing and then everything's done
40:52i actually was wondering whether you could literally put like a disco floor
40:57you know the colored tile lights up floor you could do your john travolta moves
41:07the acoustic paneling was john's baby you know i'd never really seen it before
41:13and i think ultimately
41:15it looks really good it ties in the space i really love the acoustic panelling i think it was a bit
41:24of a faff and it has cost us more than i had envisaged but it does it does help a little bit with the
41:30acoustics but what it really helps with is having some low profile lighting in that end of the room
41:36which is the dark end of the room i haven't been able to figure out how to turn them on and off yet
41:43please can you teach me yeah big comfortable sofa plenty of room for loads and loads of people
41:52if you've got loads of friends over i can just see that becoming a go-to place for us especially the
42:00kids what's nice is how you know even though all the different zones have got their own thing
42:06the panelling also connects the kitchen area
42:09i think that's quite a nice touch that was a good idea it's a bar not a kitchen bar bar yeah well
42:17only because we've been using it as a kitchen while we've been living down here
42:22it's the perfect little spot for preparing drinks and snacks
42:27it's a really fun space and i know john always likes to have a countertop
42:31between himself and the people the gay the guests so that he can do his thing and make them drinks and
42:39make them tapas i think the kitchen bar and the basement as a whole was always designed to kind of
42:45encourage this kind of al fresco living so now we've got this kind of kitchen bar that can service
42:50barbecues and help us live a bit more of an outdoor lifestyle which which is one of the reasons we came
42:56it now we've just got to try and keep it tidy like this i thought you were going to say you're going
43:01to say now let's go and find some friends well we've got lots of visitors coming soon haven't we so
43:10hopefully everything will be nice and ready for our visitors now even if upstairs isn't finished
43:16i think the basement is the big wow factor for the whole house
43:30it was always john's kind of thing and he wanted people to walk downstairs and go
43:37oh my gosh we did not know that this was all under here that's the sort of impact i think
43:44we wanted it to have and i'm pretty sure it's going to live up to our expectations
43:50it's worked out really well it's good cheers what we've achieved so far it's looking beautiful
43:59and i feel really proud actually that we've made it this far and i can start to see an end in sight
44:13we've only got a week until the kitchen is arriving so all of this needs to be done walls and ceilings are
44:26really important actually underrated sometimes oh they're bringing it out
44:34i'm getting nervous now just don't worry about it i think it's a crazy idea
44:39where's the end who's idea with is about 100 feet of lights this is a disaster with some guests
44:47coming in a few weeks it's going to be really nice to have the sun terrace finished finally
45:06so
45:11so
45:13you
