Vince Gill caught up with Rania Aniftos on the Winners Walk at the CMA Awards 2025.

00:00We're here with the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Vince Gill.

00:05I mean, this is incredible, and that tribute.

00:08I mean, what's your relationship like?

00:09I know Patty's your longtime friend.

00:12And Brandy, what's your relationship like with her?

00:14How special?

00:14Well, we've been friends for a few years now, and since she's come onto the scene,

00:17she's been killing it, and she sang the fire out of that song.

00:20She just really killed it.

00:22And Patty singing harmony, it was beautiful.

00:24I didn't know who was going to be there tonight.

00:26Really?

00:27I didn't know George was coming, and we've been friends for over 40 years, me and George.

00:33I sang on one of his records years ago called Troubadour,

00:36and we both were at the same record company for the last 35 years.

00:40I first met him when he was just getting started in Texas.

00:43He opened a show that I was playing with, with Roseanne Cash,

00:47and I was Roseanne's guitar player in 1982, maybe.

00:50And we all saw George come out in his hat and said, oh, that'll never work.

00:53Oh, my goodness.

00:55Just kidding.

00:57I'm like, what?

00:59But, you know, it is, all that being said, it is so nice to celebrate with friends.

01:04I mean, nothing, I'm guessing that that made it even more special.

01:08I mean, of course, getting the achievement is one thing, but, you know,

01:11being surrounded by the people that you love and uplift you and have been with you on the journey

01:15probably adds that whole extra layer to it, huh?

01:17Of course, you know, I mean, the whole beauty of this are relationships, friends and colleagues and nothing better, you know,

01:28and you get to make new friends.

01:29I met a lot of new people tonight, and I heard some people I'd not heard any of their music and just adored it.

01:36I love that, and I mean, you're not slowing down anytime soon.

01:39You said you're releasing an EP a month next year.

01:42How's the preparation going for that, yeah, for a whole year?

01:45I'm spending a lot of time in the studio.

01:48Sounds about right.
