The Red Clay Strays caught up with Rania Aniftos on the Winners Walk at the CMA Awards 2025.
Transcript
00:00Just because he says he only speaks for himself, not the group, what did you just say to me?
00:04Before this one, I would thank I'm speaking for everybody.
00:10The Billboard Award was our favorite, really.
00:13We're very honored.
00:14It's sitting up on my mantle, and it definitely weighs more than this.
00:17And it's gold, so that's fine.
00:19Take that, CMAs.
00:20I love Billboard. I subscribe to y'all. I get magazines. That's cool.
00:24Can I get some free magazines, dude?
00:26I think so. I'm always the one in charge of who gets the awards.
00:32What about a free year subscription? Let me get one of them.
00:35I don't even get one of those.
00:37Cold-blooded.
00:40We're here with the Red Clay Strays.
00:42They have just taken down Old Dominion, the constant winners.
00:47I don't think any of us like the way you win.
00:49I will word it that way, because they were the longtime winners, and you guys finally took over the crown.
00:54I mean, how does it feel?
00:57It's cool, you know, but we don't really let it go to our heads.
01:01It's not why we do it.
01:03So, like I said earlier, it's like a fine line between just being thankful for it,
01:06but also not letting it go to your head and don't think too much about it.
01:09It's just icing on the cake, I guess.
01:11It's true. It's true.
01:12And you guys also performed tonight.
01:13You performed People Hayden, which is about people need to stop Hayden.
01:17Was there a particular event that inspired that, or just a general sense, you know,
01:22especially with everything going on in the world right now?
01:25The performance at the CMAs, or the song?
01:28The song and the performance, I guess?
01:29The song, we wrote the song last April, or June.
01:36April.
01:37And it's just something we just wrote together in the studio, because we were tired of it.
01:41Every one of us has a different opinion politically and religiously in ways,
01:44and we all managed to be a band together, so that's what inspired the song.
01:48We all love one another no matter what, and that's what the rest of the world should be able to do, I think.
01:53Yeah.
01:53Absolutely. You'd think that it was easier.
01:56I mean, I guess that you...
01:57It's not easy.
01:58Yeah.
01:58Ain't nobody said that, you know.
02:00Yeah.
02:00I mean, I think it's pretty easy to love one another, and you guys are definitely showing that,
02:04and it's really beautiful, you know?
02:05It's easier said than done, I think.
02:06And a lot of people gave us a lot of crap for being a...
02:10The song was a neutral stance, and there was a lot of stuff going on in the country,
02:13but like Brandon always says, loving one another is the call to action,
02:17and that's hard.
02:18To love your enemy is a very hard thing to do, and that's all we're saying to do,
02:21is just love your enemy.
02:22That's a call to action.
02:23Yeah.
02:24And, I mean, no better person to win this award, clearly.
02:27Such beautiful spirits.
02:28You guys are awesome.
02:29Thank you so much.
02:29So thank you so much for coming by.
02:32I mean, you guys are great, and I'm looking forward to the next one next year,
02:35and we can celebrate again, and then hopefully at the Billboard Awards as well.
02:39Yeah, dude, let's go.
02:41Yeah, you guys are awesome.
02:42Thank you so much.
02:43Thank you so much.
02:43God bless you.
