00:12headlines and the spreads that you need to know for some games that might take place tonight

00:16tomorrow and or the weekend let's get the college football and a little maction here but not maction

00:21from midweek maction from saturday a 2 p.m start it's ball state and it's toledo we saw the look

00:27headline in the low 20s now as high as 27 and a half across the board the total of 47 and a half

00:34toledo a four touchdown favorite over ball state joe what's the spread line here well the thing that

00:41makes this so funny uh donnie because we have told you now over the last couple of weeks in spread

00:46lines about jason candle the head coach of toledo and his inability uh to burn my what really his

00:54ability to burn money as more than a touchdown favorite since he's been the head coach there

01:00it has been absolutely horrific uh the one bugaboo about him and toledo is that anytime they are a big

01:08favorite half the time they lose the game outright donnie but that hasn't stopped the market like you

01:14said this thing opened up 22 22 and a half and now it's 26 and a half now granted ball state not a

01:22great football team donnie but you know what we have been here and we have done this before with

01:27jason candle and this toledo team and guess what he's not the first time he's been more than a two

01:33three touchdown favorite and half the time he loses those games outright i can only take the points with

01:40the dog here if you like trends this is a trend you want to run away from and back the dog here

01:46how about a trend here for four o'clock on a saturday afternoon that's tcu traveling to houston

01:52this line opened up roughly a three-point favorite for houston now we're seeing it backtracking ones and

01:57one and a half in the marketplace and a total joe of 54 and a half houston and tcu this weekend what's

02:03our spread line here well it's so interesting i always find it fascinating donnie when you have two

02:08known programs like this tcu and houston and the books open it up right under a key number right we

02:16saw two and a half hanging out here and then you gotta wonder and saying all right what what are the

02:21books waiting for where where are we gonna get is it gonna be three is it gonna go three and a half

02:26is it six and a half is it seven where is it going to go well as it turns out here donnie with this

02:31the home team houston hasn't gotten any love in this one donnie it's all tcu money houston opened up

02:38as the two and a half point favorite and now we're looking at even pick them in some spots donnie the

02:44totals getting a little bit of love as well two teams that you know willie fritz there his first year

02:50at houston has done a great job putting them in uh in a position here not only uh to make uh you know

02:57the uh a great bowl game and make a lot of money for uh houston but my goodness at home not getting

03:04any love here i find that fascinating i am on houston in this game i hope donnie it goes the other way

03:11even more before kickoff james franklin just a few weeks ago he was the head coach of the penn state

03:17nittany lines as they were looking to do some damage here in the 2025 season i got maybe the best backfield

03:22combination in the country i got drew aller coming back we should be able to roll this year

03:27they got rolled right out of the big 10 and so did mr james franklin but now he reemerges at

03:33virginia tech as the head coach and here he is meeting with his team getting that first look

03:38but number one obviously honored to be here me and my wife fumi uh actually we just text

03:44my brother-in-law who lives about nine miles from here um so just just blessed and honored to be a part

03:52of this we've been doing this for 30 years me and my family and um i know virginia tech well i was at

04:00the university of maryland for eight years before i left and went to the green bay packers i was a young

04:06offensive coordinator went to uh went to virginia tech there was a defensive coordinator i think you

04:13guys may know him named bud foster and that was a long night for the young offensive coordinator to be

04:20honest with you but um just honored to be here i want to thank the search committee uh those guys

04:26were relentless um obviously jay and ryan and the whole crew just just did a phenomenal job

04:33john did you have something no i was just once again wanting to thank you for becoming a hokey i

04:39believe jay may have something for you so you'll be properly attired in the future

04:43yeah yeah jay sent me a bunch of stuff uh you can't have too much hokey gear yeah yeah last week

04:53there you go he's in front of the boys getting the team ready to go what he should have said is guys i

04:58guarantee you one thing i will make this schedule the softest in the entire nation like i tried to do

05:03at penn state we're gonna win a lot of football games just not a lot of meaningful football games

05:08they're like you know what coach sounds good yeah you know it's funny i i remember when james franklin

05:14was there for a couple of years at vandy and everyone was like oh this guy is guy he's winning

05:20nine football games a season every he was like the fun coach and then all of a sudden he goes to penn

05:27state and he's winning 11 games a year donnie and looks about as miserable as a human being could

05:34with an aspiration of course of trying to win a national championship which he was never going

05:39to do at vandy and guess what he ain't gonna do it here at virginia tech either but you know what

05:45he'll be he'll be a lot happier with nine wins a season 10 wins a season without the pressure

05:50that penn state brought so i think it's a great move for him i think uh gotta be careful though that

05:57third go around i saw mark rick come here to miami i saw chip kelly at ucla uh gus malzahn

06:04at ucf doesn't always work out but i don't think the aspirations are there uh for va tech just yet

06:10so i think he's gonna have a lot of success yeah yeah he as i said it's a really good hire for

06:16virginia tech it's almost like the perfect mesh point like virginia tech's not going to win a

06:19national championship he's not going to have that pressure he'll thrive they'll win nine ten games

06:23every single year they'll get the bowl games maybe the occasional acc win because it's not like

06:27you have to play ohio state every year you just get your brains beat in by them i think it's a

06:31perfect match for those two where at least getting virginia tech back to respectability

06:34that should be good enough there for virginia tech college football playoff rankings the show came

06:39out yesterday no surprise it's really in the top five joe ohio state indiana texas a&m georgia

06:44and texas tech there miami seems to be that lightning rod team placed at 13 with notre dame placed ninth

06:51and the committee saying well yeah we head to head and we we don't look at head to head but uh head to

06:57head and then there's two losses stop the man that's right here we're headed for a doomsday

07:02scenario where they can't explain themselves joe well you knew that was coming and a lot of it is

07:08going to set around the debate with miami and notre dame who are sitting there with exactly the same

07:14record only one team had beaten that other team and that was miami having beaten uh notre dame the

07:21first game of the year so now the question is i got two teams at eight and two at this point yet

07:26notre dame is ranked higher uh i don't get it so it's ultimately going to come down to which way

07:34the committee wants to go and who's on that bubble donnie who's going to make the committee and the

07:40playoff more money uh and that'll ultimately be who gets it by the way sitting at number six in this

07:46playoff poll that's old miss man what a season could be one of the best seasons if not the best

07:51season in the history of old miss football and their head coach is like you know look at those

07:55lsu facilities oh they're really nice now look at those florida facilities boy they are really nice

08:00as well because the one thing you always notice in the sec it's all about hundred thousand seat

08:06stadiums massive boosters huge nil and the facilities in the area that you can do damage

08:11while you're recruiting i always look at old miss's football field it is nice but it just doesn't feel

08:16sec and maybe lane kiffin's looking around like boy the damage i could do by going to florida and lsu

08:22with all of that money and resources yeah you know what i'm gonna take a look around

08:27yeah of course he's gonna take a look why wouldn't he take a look around right i mean listen lane has

08:35been to a lot of of the big big time programs right usc tennessee he was there under saban there

08:43in alabama with the championship year so he knows what it takes did he ever really think he'd have

08:49enough talent at old miss donnie competing in the sec enough resources to do what saban did what he

08:55watched saban do uh yeah i think he this was always the next logical step for him and kudos to put

09:03himself into a position donnie to have that kind of leverage and to be able to have his pick of some of

09:09the best programs in the country exactly and if you look oh he's got to make a decision yeah he

09:15will and it'll be financially a really sound decision because yeah well oh he has no loyalty

09:21what if another school is offering 30 million more guaranteed dollars i mean stop it he's gonna go and

09:26so would you out there in the streets now let me get to a quick game here joe in the acc this weekend

09:30saturday night 7 p.m pittsburgh and georgia tech 61 and a half is the total a favorite for georgia

09:37tech this is massive here in the standings because georgia tech you see there at nine and one

09:42pittsburgh could throw a little bit more chaos into the acc with a victory on the road against georgia

09:48tech yeah and georgia tech of course we'll have georgia too as that final game coming up here but

09:54you know mr pat narduzzi where it doesn't really matter if we get beat by 100 for notre dame and well

10:01you your team did not show up i'm not quite sure you can flip that switch uh with this team here

10:08where it's okay to take a game off and get the snot beat out of you but somehow you're gonna what

10:13you're gonna waltz against for georgia tech and win this game i i got question marks here donnie i am

10:20not convinced that narduzzi and pittsburgh come away with the win
