07 October - National Evening Forecast presented by Clare Nasir
Transcript
00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:05We have high pressure building from the south west, even so, weather fronts continue to
00:10track across the country, weakening all the while, so really just a band of clouds pushing
00:15southwards on Wednesday, spits and spots of rain, and some showery bursts likely across
00:19northern and western areas of Scotland again, pushing towards the high pressure and also
00:24weakening.
00:25Winds will be strong through the next few days across Scotland, particularly towards
00:29the north, a bit gusty over the highlands, a lighter breeze further south and east, and
00:35what that means there will be some mist and fog patches around and rather chilly.
00:39Through Thursday another weather front moves in yet again across western Scotland.
00:44Currently this is the weather front bothering central parts of England and Wales as it moves
00:49southwards.
00:50A little bit of patchy rain and drizzle can't be ruled out, some low clouds shrouding the
00:54hills.
00:55At the same time, a keen breeze bringing showers towards western and northern Scotland.
01:00In between we'll see some clearer skies, and that's where the lowest temperatures will be,
01:05dipping down to single figures, a chilly start to the day, particularly in rural spots.
01:10First thing then tomorrow morning, it's rather murky as we start the day, central and southern
01:14parts of England and Wales, and a little bit of patchy rain and drizzle here.
01:19Showery rain could become a bit more persistent, particularly across western upslotes through the morning
01:23across Scotland.
01:25Some brighter skies further east, but more clouds rolling across the highlands.
01:28For Northern Ireland, it's a mostly fine day.
01:31Northern England, the Midlands and northern parts of Wales as well, with some sunshine coming
01:35through and drying up further south as that cloud erodes on its northern edge.
01:40Even so, it will be quite a wet end to the day across the far west of Scotland, with outbreaks
01:46of rain, and again that brisk wind.
01:48Temperatures then in the sunshine, fairly pleasant.
01:5117 or 18 towards more central and eastern areas, and 15 for Belfast as well as Aberdeenshire.
01:58Not too bad if you catch some brighter skies, and you will in shelter.
02:03Through Thursday into Friday, yet again high pressure exerts an influence from the south-west.
02:09Even so, these weakening fronts will extend across the northern half of the country, bringing
02:14more cloud and some rain from time to time.
02:17Gusty over the hills and the mountains, particularly across the North Pennines as well as the Highlands.
02:23And your outlook into Saturday looks quite similar again, more cloud across the north-west.
02:28There will always be a lot of cloud through the next few days.
02:31Trapped under that high pressure system, some mist and fog by night, some chilly nights as well.
02:37But even so, the cloud will break at times, allowing for some sunshine to come through, and temperatures
02:42yet again in that brighter weather coming in 16 to 18 degrees Celsius.
02:47I'll see you later.
