01:42They've been writing since they were kids, teenagers, young people
01:46I actually was never a writer
01:49I'm in human resources
01:51I'm a recruiter
01:52And I never wrote anything
01:53I never published anything
01:54This book is my first publication

01:57Yeah, I know that's kind of different
01:59But I guess go big or go home, right?
02:02My first writing is a book
02:05So, I mean, the story's crazy
02:07It's kind of a big story
02:09And I can get more into that
02:11But it was 2013 when I decided to write this book
02:14And it took me a really long time to write it
02:17But I had a lot going on
02:18So, that's when I decided

02:39I mean, because it could have been any book

02:42Okay, so, in 2013, my mom passed away from ALS
02:47And it was pretty traumatic for our family
02:51And pretty traumatic for me
02:53I was, well, I still am married to my husband
02:57We were married for 19 years
02:58We were in a monogamous relationship
03:00And I basically told him
03:01I was trying to think
03:02I was pretty much acting out after my mom passed
03:05And I was trying to think of the worst thing that I could think to do
03:08And we both got married at 19
03:10And we'd only slept with each other
03:11And I basically just went to him and said
03:13I would think I'm going to go sleep with 100 men
03:15Like I can't think of anything bad enough to do
03:17So, I said I'm going to go have sex with 100 men
03:20And he kind of did the thing where he just kind of goes

03:27Yeah, he's so great
03:29He said to me
03:30You know, he could have thrown me out
03:32He could have divorced me

03:51My imagination is way better than reality

03:57And it actually helped me heal a lot
03:59It was really healing for me

07:52With my brother

19:05And they've been married forever

19:11This is who I am
19:12I could never
19:13I started college when I was 30 years old
19:14And have three kids
19:15And I never thought I'd go to college
19:17I never thought I'd write a book
19:18And it's almost like
19:19I have to be the trailblazer
19:20And let people know
19:21And let my friends know
19:22You are not too old
19:24Don't say that
19:25I'm a mom with six kids
19:27There's no way I could do
19:28This, this or this
19:29Yeah
19:30You know
19:31You can do whatever you want
19:32You can create yourself
19:33At any age
19:34Or anything
19:35I mean here I am
19:36I'm 50 years old
19:37And I'm publishing my first book
19:38And am I going to sit around
19:39And be
19:40And say you know
19:41I could never publish a book
19:42I'm too old
19:43I will never say that
19:44And if anyone says that to me
19:45I will give them a lecture
19:47And tell them no
19:48So I think
19:49Yeah I think people just need to know
19:50You can do whatever you need to do
19:52You can write your own story
19:54I think people just need to tell my friends
19:56This is the movie
19:57Your life is a movie
19:58And you're the star
19:59You're the director
20:00And you're the writer
20:01For the most part
20:02You write your script
20:03There's things that happen
20:04That you can't control
20:05Yeah
20:06But if you want to be a writer
20:07Be a writer
20:08If you want to wear white after Labor Day
20:10I was just talking with my friend about this
20:12You do whatever you want
20:13You don't let society tell you rules
20:15That our grandmother's made up
20:16Exactly
20:17You know
20:18You can do whatever you need to do
20:19And I think this book will help people do that

20:25Generation X
20:28Right
20:29But you do what you want
20:30And you don't apologize for it
20:31As long as you're not hurting anyone

20:39I love that you brought yourself into this character

20:43Even though the character's situation is different than yours

20:58Have relationships outside of your marriages
