00:00In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. The Lord be with you.
00:20Dear friends, welcome to our celebration of the Mass today.
00:23And today I wish to celebrate the votive Mass of the Sacred Heart of Jesus,
00:27being the first Friday of the month of November.
00:31So we pray to the Sacred Heart for our needs, for the Church, and for the whole world.
00:37And also we remember the Pope and his intentions.
00:40This month he has us praying in a special way for the prevention of suicide.
00:45And so we, in our prayers, accompany our brothers and sisters
00:48who are currently struggling with these thoughts.
00:52And we pray for them, for their consolation, and for the healing of their hearts, minds, and souls.
00:58Dear brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins,
01:01and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the Sacred Mysteries.
01:04You were sent to heal the contrite of heart.
01:08Lord, have mercy.
01:11You came to call sinners.
01:12Christ, have mercy.
01:15You are seated at the right hand of the Father to intercede for us.
01:18Lord, have mercy.
01:21May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins,
01:24and bring us to everlasting life.
01:27Let us pray.
01:28Clothe us, Lord God, with the virtues of the heart of your Son,
01:34and set us aflame with his love,
01:37that conformed to his image we may merit a share in eternal redemption.
01:43Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you,
01:47in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.
01:51Amen.
01:53A reading from the letter of St. Paul to the Romans.
01:56My brothers, I am quite certain that you are full of good intentions,
02:03perfectly well instructed, and able to advise each other.
02:07The reason why I have written to you and put some things rather strongly
02:12is to refresh your memories, since God has given me this special position.
02:18He has appointed me as a priest of Jesus Christ,
02:22and I am to carry out my priestly duty
02:24by bringing the good news from God to the pagans,
02:28and so make them acceptable as an offering
02:31made holy by the Holy Spirit.
02:34I think I have some reason to be proud of what I,
02:38in union with Christ Jesus,
02:40have been able to do for God.
02:43What I am presuming to speak of, of course,
02:45is only what Christ himself
02:47has done
02:48to win the allegiance of the pagans,
02:51using what I have said and done,
02:53by the power of signs and wonders,
02:56by the power of the Holy Spirit.
02:59Thus, all the way along from Jerusalem to Illyricum,
03:02I have preached Christ's good news to the utmost of my capacity.
03:07I have always, however,
03:09made it an unbroken rule
03:11never to preach where Christ's name has already been heard.
03:15The reason for that
03:18was that I had no wish to build on other men's foundations.
03:22On the contrary,
03:23my chief concern
03:24has been to fulfill the text.
03:28Those who have never been told about him will see him,
03:31and those who have never heard about him will understand.
03:35The Word of the Lord
03:37Responsorial Psalm
03:40The Lord has revealed to the nations his saving power.
03:44The Lord has revealed to the nations his saving power.
03:48Sing a new song to the Lord,
03:50for he has worked wonders.
03:52His right hand and his holy arm have brought salvation.
03:56The Lord has revealed to the nations his saving power.
04:00The Lord has made known his salvation,
04:03has shown his justice to the nations.
04:05He has remembered his truth and love for the house of Israel.
04:08The Lord has revealed to the nations his saving power.
04:14All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
04:18Shout to the Lord, all the earth,
04:20ring out your joy.
04:22The Lord has revealed to the nations his saving power.
04:28Alleluia, Alleluia!
04:30Whoever keeps the word of Christ
04:32grows perfect in the love of God.
04:35Alleluia!
04:36The Lord be with you.
04:40A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke.
04:47Jesus said to his disciples,
04:49There was a rich man,
04:50and he had a steward,
04:52who was denounced to him for being wasteful with his property.
04:56He called for the man and said,
04:58What is this I hear about you?
05:01Draw me up an account of your stewardship,
05:03because you are not to be my steward any longer.
05:07Then the steward said to himself,
05:09Now that my master is taking the stewardship from me,
05:14what am I to do?
05:16Dig?
05:17I am not strong enough.
05:19Go begging.
05:20I should be too ashamed.
05:21I know what I will do to make sure
05:24that when I am dismissed from office,
05:27there will be some to welcome me into their homes.
05:31Then he called his master's debtors one by one.
05:34To the first he said,
05:35How much do you owe my master?
05:38One hundred measures of oil was the reply.
05:41The steward said,
05:42Here, take your bond,
05:43sit down straight away,
05:45and write fifty.
05:46To another he said,
05:48And you, sir,
05:49how much do you owe?
05:51One hundred measures of wheat was the reply.
05:55The steward said,
05:56Here, take your bond,
05:58and write eighty.
06:00The master prays to this honest servant
06:02for his astruteness.
06:05For the children of this world
06:06are more astute in dealing with their own kind
06:09than are the children of light.
06:13The Gospel of the Lord
06:15Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,
06:21for through your goodness
06:22we have received the bread we offer you.
06:25Fruit of the earth and work of human hands,
06:27it will become for us the bread of life.
06:45Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,
06:49for through your goodness
06:50we have received the wine we offer you.
06:53Fruit of the vine and work of human hands,
06:55it will become for us our spiritual drink.
07:09Pray, brothers and sisters,
07:10that my sacrifice and yours
07:11may be acceptable to God,
07:13the Almighty Father.
07:14O God, Father of mercies,
07:22who because of the great love
07:23with which you loved us,
07:25with untold goodness,
07:27gave us your only begotten Son,
07:29grant we pray that being perfectly united with him,
07:33we may offer you worthy homage
07:35through Christ our Lord.
07:37Amen.
07:38The Lord be with you,
07:39and with your spirit lift up your hearts,
07:42we lift them up to the Lord.
07:43Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
07:46It is right and just.
07:48It is truly right and just,
07:49our duty and our salvation,
07:51always and everywhere to give you thanks.
07:54Lord, Holy Father Almighty and eternal God through Christ our Lord.
07:59For raised up high on the cross,
08:01he gave himself up for us with a wonderful love,
08:04and poured out blood and water from his pierced side,
08:08the wellspring of the church's sacraments,
08:11so that,
08:12one over to the open heart of the Savior,
08:15all might draw water joyfully from the springs of salvation.
08:18And so,
08:20with all the angels and saints,
08:21we praise you,
08:23as without end we acclaim,
08:25Holy,
08:26Holy,
08:27Holy Lord,
08:28God of hosts,
08:30heaven and earth are full of your glory,
08:32Hosanna in the highest.
08:34Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord,
08:37Hosanna in the highest.
08:39You are indeed holy,
08:44O Lord,
08:45the fount of all holiness.
08:46Make holy,
08:47therefore,
08:47these gifts we pray,
08:49by sending down your Spirit upon them like the twofold,
08:52so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
08:58At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion,
09:02he took bread,
09:04and giving thanks,
09:05broke it,
09:06and gave it to his disciples,
09:08saying,
09:09Take this all of you and eat of it,
09:12for this is my body,
09:15which will be given up for you.
09:17In a similar way,
09:39when supper was ended,
09:40he took the chalice,
09:41and once more giving thanks,
09:44he gave it to his disciples,
09:45saying,
09:46Take this all of you and drink from it,
09:49for this is the chalice of my blood,
09:51the blood of the new and eternal covenant,
09:55which will be poured out for you and for many,
09:57for the forgiveness of sins.
09:59Do this in memory of me.
10:01Do this in memory of me.
10:01Do this in memory of me.
10:02do this in memory of me.
10:06The mystery of faith.
10:29We proclaim your death, O Lord, and profess your resurrection until you come again.
10:36Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you.
10:50Humbly we pray that, partaking of the body and blood of Christ, you may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.
10:58Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of charity together with Leo, our Pope, and Charles, our Bishop, and all the clergy.
11:08Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection and all who have died in your mercy.
11:16Welcome them into the light of your face.
11:18Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with blessed Joseph, her spouse, with the blessed apostles and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages,
11:32we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ.
11:39Through him and with him and in him, O God, Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours forever and ever. Amen.
11:58At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say,
12:03Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
12:13Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
12:21And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
12:26Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil graciously.
12:29Grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress,
12:36as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
12:44Lord Jesus Christ, who sent to your apostles,
12:46Please, I leave you, my peace I give you.
12:49Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church,
12:52and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will,
12:56who live and reign forever and ever.
12:59The peace of the Lord be with you always.
13:03Let us offer each other the sign of peace.
13:05Peace be with you.
13:14Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world.
13:17Have mercy on us.
13:19Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world.
13:22Have mercy on us.
13:24Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world.
13:28Grant us peace.
13:29Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world.
13:54Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.
13:57Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof,
14:01but only say the word in my soul shall be healed.
14:05My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most blessed sacrament.
14:10I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul.
14:15Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
14:21I embrace you as if you were already there, and unite myself wholly to you.
14:27Never permit me to be separated from you.
14:30Amen.
14:30Let us pray.
14:32May partakers in your sacrament of charity, we humbly implore your mercy, Lord,
14:41that we may be conformed to Christ on earth,
14:44and merit to be co-heirs of his glory in heaven, who lives and reigns forever and ever.
14:50Amen.
