Transcript
00:00In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, the Lord be with you.
00:20Dear brothers and sisters, let us come before God as we are.
00:25Let us acknowledge our littleness before God.
00:30Not to condemn ourselves, but to acknowledge the merciful heart of God for us,
00:35as we prepare ourselves to celebrate these sacred mysteries.
00:41You were sent to heal the contrite of heart. Lord, have mercy.
00:47You came to call sinners. Christ, have mercy.
00:53You are seated at the right hand of the Father to intercede for us.
00:58Lord, have mercy.
01:01May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and lead us into life everlasting.
01:10Let us pray.
01:11Grant us, we pray, O Lord our God, the constant gladness of being devoted to you.
01:22For it is full and lasting happiness to serve with constancy, the author of all that is good.
01:33To our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.
01:42A reading from the second book of Maccabees.
01:49Alza, one of the foremost teachers of the law, a man already advanced in years and of the most noble appearance,
02:02was being forced to open his mouth wide to swallow pig's flesh.
02:07But he, resolving to die with honor, rather than to live disgrace, went to the block of his own accord,
02:20spitting the stuff out, the plain duty of anyone with the courage to reject what is not lawful to taste,
02:28even from a natural tenderness of his own life.
02:32Those in charge of the emperor's banquet, because of their long-standing friendship with him,
02:41took him aside and privately urged him to have meat, brought of a kind he could properly use,
02:50prepared by himself, and only pretend to eat a proportion of sacrificial meat, as prescribed by the king.
03:00This action would enable him to escape death by availing himself of an act of kindness prompted by their long friendship.
03:12But having taken a noble decision, worthy of his years and the dignity of the great age,
03:19and the well-earned distinction of his great age,
03:25worthy due of incapable conduct from boyhood,
03:30and above all of the holy registration established by God himself,
03:37he publicly seated his conviction, telling them to send him advance of heads.
03:43Such pretence, he said, does not square with our time of life.
03:50Many young people would suppose that Elza, at the age of 90,
03:55had confirmed to the foreigner's way of life.
03:58And because I had played this path for the sake of partly the brief spell of life,
04:08mighty themself, he led a stray on my account.
04:12And I should only bring defulment and disgrace on my old age.
04:18Even though, for the very moment, I avoid execution by man,
04:25I can never, living or dead, elude the grabs of the Almighty.
04:31Therefore, if I am a man, enough to quit this life, here and now,
04:38I shall prove myself worthy of my old age,
04:41and I shall have left a young noble example of how to make a good debt,
04:48eagerly and generously, for the venerable and holy laws.
04:53With these words, he went straight to the block.
04:58His escorts, so reasonably well disposed towards him,
05:02turned against him after this declaration,
05:06which they regarded as a sheer madness.
05:09Just before he died under the blows,
05:13he groans aloud and said,
05:16The Lord, whose knowledge is holy,
05:19sees clearly that,
05:20that I might have escaped death,
05:23whatever agonies of body,
05:25and now I endure,
05:28under the blood court.
05:30In my soul, I am glad to suffer,
05:33because of the awe which he inspires in me.
05:37This was how he died,
05:41leaving his death as an example of nobility
05:44and a record of virtue,
05:48not only for the young,
05:50but for the great majority of the nation.
05:52The word of the Lord.
05:56Your response,
05:58The Lord upholds me.
06:01How many are my foes, O Lord?
06:04How many are rising up against me?
06:07How many are saying about me,
06:09there is no help from him in God?
06:12Your response,
06:13The Lord upholds me.
06:16But you, Lord,
06:18are sheer about me.
06:20My glory will lift up my head.
06:23I cry aloud to the Lord.
06:24He answers from his holy mountain.
06:27Your response,
06:29The Lord upholds me.
06:31I lie down and rest,
06:33and I sleep.
06:34I will wake,
06:35but the Lord upholds me.
06:37I will not fear even thousands of people,
06:39who are ranged on every side against me.
06:43Your response,
06:45The Lord upholds me.
06:47Hallelujah, hallelujah.
06:50God first loved us,
06:52and sent his son,
06:54to take away our sins.
06:56Hallelujah.
06:59The Lord be with you.
07:02A reading from the Holy Gospel,
07:03according to Luke.
07:05Glory to you, O Lord.
07:07Jesus entered Jericho,
07:11and was going to a town,
07:14when a man,
07:15whose name was Sarkaz,
07:18made his appearance.
07:20He was one of the senior tax collectors,
07:23and a wealthy man.
07:25He was anxious to see,
07:27what kind of man Jesus was.
07:30But he was too short,
07:31and could not see him from the crowd.
07:34So he ran ahead,
07:36and climbed
07:37a cinema tree,
07:40and catch a glimpse of Jesus,
07:43who was to pass that way.
07:46When Jesus reached the spot,
07:49he looked up,
07:50and spoke to him,
07:52Sargeus,
07:53come down,
07:54hurry,
07:55because I must stay at your house today.
07:58And he hurried down,
08:01and welcomed him joyfully.
08:04They all complained,
08:06when they saw,
08:07what was happening.
08:09He was going to stay at the sinner's house,
08:12they said.
08:13But Sargeus stood his ground,
08:17and said to the Lord,
08:18Look sir,
08:20I am going to half of my property to the poor,
08:23and if I have cheated anybody,
08:26I will pay him back four times of the amount.
08:30And Jesus said to him,
08:32Today the salvation has come to this house,
08:37because this man too is son of Abraham.
08:40For the son of man
08:42has come to seek out
08:44and save what was lost.
08:48The Gospel of the Lord.
08:57Blessed are you, Lord,
08:58God of all creation,
08:59for through your goodness
09:00we have received this bread we offer you,
09:03fruit of the earth
09:03and work of human hands.
09:05It will become for us
09:06a bread of life.

09:25Blessed are you, Lord,
09:26God of all creation,
09:27for through your goodness
09:28we have received this bread we offer you,
09:30fruit of the vine
09:31and work of human hands.
09:33It will become for us
09:34a spiritual drink.
09:37Blessed be God.
09:38for all of you.
09:50Pray my brothers and sisters
09:52that my sacrifice and yours
09:54may be acceptable
09:55to God the Almighty Father.
09:57Grant, O Lord, we pray
10:04That what we offer
10:06In the sight of your majesty
10:08We obtain for us
10:10The grace of being devoted to you
10:13And gain us
10:15The price of everlasting happiness
10:17Through Christ our Lord
10:19The Lord be with you
10:22Lift up your hearts
10:24Let us give thanks to the Lord our God
10:27It is truly right and just
10:30Our duty and our salvation
10:32Always and everywhere
10:34To give you thanks
10:35Father most holy
10:37Through your beloved Son Jesus Christ
10:40Your birth through whom you made all things
10:43Whom you sent as our Savior and Redeemer
10:46Incarnate by the Holy Spirit
10:49And born of the Virgin
10:50Fulfilling your will
10:52Gaining for you a holy people
10:54He stretched out his hands
10:56As he endured his passion
10:58So as to break the bones of death
11:01And manifest the resurrection
11:03And so with the angels and all the saints
11:06We declare your glory
11:08As if one voice we acclaim
11:11Holy, holy, holy
11:13Lord God of hosts
11:15Heaven and earth are full of your glory
11:18Hosanna in the highest
11:20Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord
11:23Hosanna in the highest
11:26You are indeed holy, O Lord
11:29And fount of all holiness
11:31Make holy therefore this gift we pray
11:34By sending down your spirit upon them like a devil
11:37So that they may become for us
11:40The body and the blood
11:42Of our Lord Jesus Christ
11:44At the time he was betrayed
11:47He entered willingly into his passion
11:49He took bread
11:51Giving thanks
11:52Broke it
11:53And gave it to his disciples
11:56Saying
11:56Take this
11:58All of you
12:00And eat of it
12:01For this is my body
12:04Which will be given up
12:06For you
12:07In a similar way
12:22When supper was ended
12:23He took the chalice
12:25And once more giving thanks
12:27He gave it to his disciples
12:29Saying
12:30Take this
12:32All of you
12:33And drink from it
12:35For this is the chalice of my blood
12:38The blood of the new
12:40And eternal covenant
12:41Which will be poured out for you
12:44And for many
12:45For the forgiveness of sins
12:47Do this
12:49In memory of me
12:51The mystery of faith
13:09We proclaim your death, O Lord
13:11And profess your resurrection
13:13Until you come again
13:15Therefore, as we celebrate
13:18The memorial of his death
13:19And resurrection
13:20We offer you, Lord
13:22The bread of life
13:23And the chalice of salvation
13:25Giving thanks
13:27That you have held us worthy
13:30To be in your presence
13:31And minister to you
13:33Humbly we pray
13:35That partaking of the body
13:37And blood of Christ
13:38We may be gathered into one
13:41By the Holy Spirit
13:42Remember, Lord, your church
13:45Spread throughout the world
13:47And bring her to the fullness
13:48Of charity
13:49Together with
13:51Leo, our Pope
13:52And Charles, our Bishop
13:53And all the clergy
13:55Remember, your servant, Gerard
13:58Whom you have called
14:00From this world to yourself
14:01Grant that he
14:03Who was united with your son
14:05In a death like his
14:07May also be born with him
14:09In his resurrection
14:10Remember, also, our brothers
14:13And sisters
14:14Who have fallen asleep
14:16In the hope of the resurrection
14:18And all who have died
14:20In your mercy
14:21Welcome them
14:22Into the light of your face
14:24Have mercy on us
14:26All we pray
14:27That with the blessed
14:28Virgin Mary, Mother of God
14:30Saint Joseph, her spouse
14:32With the blessed apostles
14:34And all the saints
14:36Who have pleased you
14:37Throughout the ages
14:38We may merit to be
14:40Coherence to eternal life
14:42And may praise
14:44And glorify you
14:45Through your Son
14:47Jesus Christ
14:48Through him
14:53And with him
14:53And in him
14:54O God, almighty Father
14:56In the beauty of the Holy Spirit
14:59All glory
15:00And honor is yours
15:02Forever
15:03And ever
15:05Amen
15:06At the Savior's command
15:09And formed by divine teaching
15:11We dare to pray
15:12Our Father
15:14Who art in heaven
15:15Hallowed be thy name
15:17Thy kingdom come
15:18Thy will be done
15:19On earth as it is in heaven
15:21Give us this day
15:23Our daily bread
15:24And forgive us
15:25Our trespasses
15:26As we forgive those
15:28Who trespassed against us
15:30And lead us
15:31Not into temptation
15:32But deliver us from evil
15:35Deliver us, Lord
15:37We pray from every evil
15:38And graciously grant peace
15:40In our days
15:41That by the help
15:42Of your mercy
15:43We may be always
