03 November - National Morning Forecast presented by Jonathan Vautrey.
Transcript
00:00Hello there, a very good morning to you. The weather isn't providing the most cheerful
00:05of starts to the new week. It's quite dull and damp out there, all courtesy of an area
00:10of low pressure that is pushing close by to the UK, driving weather fronts eastwards across
00:14the nation at the moment. There's a lot of ice bars on the chart here as well, indicating
00:19we've got some quite strong winds across many areas and there will be gales in exposed coastal
00:24and mountain regions today. But those winds are coming in from a south-westerly direction
00:29and so they're filtering in some quite mild air and you'll certainly notice it when
00:33you step out first thing this morning. It's certainly not very chilly. Despite the mild
00:38theme though, we're also going to be greeted by a lot of clouds and outbreaks of rain spreading
00:43eastwards. They'll be most persistent for western regions and could turn quite heavy
00:47at times, particularly if you're travelling over any higher ground routes around the Cumbrian
00:51Fells, the Pennines, parts of Erreri as well. The further east you do get, you could see
00:55some drier conditions overall and maybe even a touch of sunshine at time for south-east
00:59England and north-east Scotland. Those temperatures by the afternoon though, climbing towards 15,
01:0416 degrees Celsius, so even despite all that cloud, the rain, the strong winds, it is still
01:10going to be a very mild day. Those values are notably up on what we'd normally expect for the
01:15start of November. It remains unsettled into this evening and overnight. The rain generally setting
01:22itself up in a south-west to north-eastern line, but again there could still be some heavy pulses
01:28of rain around at times. Some slightly clearer spells just to the north and south of that staying
01:33a little drier here, but it's still going to be blustery across the board and with those winds
01:37coming in from a southerly direction still very mild, particularly for England and Wales where we'll
01:42only drop down to around 12 or 13 degrees Celsius overnight. Just a little fresher for Scotland,
01:47parts of Northern Ireland where we do see some clearer skies during the second half of the night.
01:52There is some uncertainty just in regards to exactly where this rain will be placed on Tuesday,
01:58but at the moment at least, south-west England, parts of southern Wales could see quite a lot of
02:03rainfall during the day and there may be some localised flooding, so it's worth staying up to
02:07date with the forecast here and that rain will eventually spread into parts of Northern England
02:11later on. Once again it's south-eastern England, parts of Northern Scotland and maybe even parts of
02:16Northern Northern Ireland where we could hold on to the generally drier conditions and also see those
02:21glimmers of brightness the sunshine poking through at times. The winds will be moderating throughout
02:27the day so they won't be quite as strong as what we are going to be seeing today, but still certainly
02:32will be a very breezy and blustery one for most. Temperatures again peaking at around 14 to 16 degrees
02:39Celsius. We'll have further details of what you can expect right throughout this forthcoming week in
02:44our week-ahead video that will be uploaded to YouTube a little later on, so do subscribe so you don't miss that.
02:50Otherwise, I hope you enjoy your day. Bye-bye.
