00:03Today we're talking about the VW Tavendor, another XXL SUV from Volkswagen that was designed exclusively for the Chinese market.
00:12Since 2022, it has been expanding the group's extensive SUV range, which already included 18 models at that time.
00:21The Tervender was developed in collaboration with the Chinese partner FAO.
00:26It is also built by FAO Volkswagen.
00:30It is a sister model of the VW Terramond, which was developed with them, and both are based on the modular transverse matrix, the platform that also serves as the basis for the U.S. model VW Atlas.
00:44With a length of just over 4.9 meters, a width of around 2 meters and a height of around 1.8 meters, the Tavendor is definitely one of the larger representatives in its class.
00:53Despite its wheelbase of 3 meters, it is only designed as a 5-seater, but offers a generous cargo volume.
01:03Visually, the Tavendor is based on its sister models, but shows its own uniqueness through striking design features.
01:09The front is dominated by darkened LED clear glass headlights, a large black grille with a centrally positioned VW logo and a striking chrome strip that runs across the entire front.
01:22The side view is characterized by the black contrasting roof with roof rails, complemented by a chrome line along the roof line up to the C-pillar.
01:39At the rear, a continuous LED lighting unit sits under a common cover.
01:46The lower section of the rear apron is reminiscent of off-road elements with a suggested underbody protection.
01:52Depending on the equipment variant, especially in the sporty airline, the interior features variable.
01:59Oval or trapezoidal exhaust tips and modified cooling air ducts with a grid structure are among the distinguishing features.
02:05The interior of the Tavendor relies on modern digital technology.
02:11Two displays combined under a glass surface characterize the horizontally aligned cockpit.
02:16A freely configurable virtual cockpit is located in front of the driver.
02:21A large touchscreen in the middle.
02:24The gear selector knob and a rotary pushbutton are integrated into the wide center console, while high-quality leather surfaces enhance the ambience.
02:31In terms of engines, two variants are available.
02:36The 330 TSI with a 2-liter V4-cylinder turbo gasoline engine produces 186 horsepower and drives the front wheels.
02:45The more powerful 380 TSI, also with a displacement of 2 liters, develops 220 horsepower and transfers the power to all four wheels via motion all-wheel drive.
02:56Both variants are equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
02:59The maximum torque is around 320 and around 350 newtons, respectively.
03:08The VW Tavendor was launched in China in the third quarter of 2022.
03:13The starting price at that time was around 42,000 euros.
