00:00Welcome to the video from the Car Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:03Today, everything revolves around the new Skoda L-Rock RS in a subtle steel grey.
00:09The compact electric SUV that is causing a stir not only with its looks, but above all with its technical data.
00:17The Czech VW subsidiary is really upping the ante with this sporty all-wheel drive version
00:22and is launching a vehicle on the market that sets new standards within the series in terms of both performance and equipment.
00:30And this in a market environment in which the LROCK is already proving to be a great success.
00:36Even the basic versions of the LROCK are selling rapidly.
00:40In May alone, almost 2,700 units were newly registered in Germany.
00:45In April, the figure was even over 8,000 across Europe.
00:50This puts the L-Rock at the top of the list of the best-selling electric vehicles in Europe,
00:54even ahead of larger models such as the Skoda Knack or the sister models from Volkswagen, Audi and Ford.
01:01This success is no coincidence, as the compact format, the well-thought-out equipment
01:06and an overall harmonious concept appeal to many buyers.
01:09The new LROCK RS is now the sporty spearhead of this model series,
01:17with a clear claim to dynamics without neglecting everyday suitability.
01:23The system output of the RS MEL is an impressive 340 horsepower,
01:27which enables acceleration to 100 km per hour in just 5.4 seconds.
01:32This is exactly the same value that is already known from the Skoda Rapid RS or the ID.4 GTX.
01:40Both models feature the same modular technology.
01:43The battery also remains at the familiar level with a gross capacity of 84 kWh.
01:53However, compared to the rear-wheel drive ARC 85,
01:56there is a power increase in peak power and 2 kW more usable energy for driving.
02:02That may not sound like much, but in practice it definitely offers advantages.
02:09Of course, the all-wheel drive and the sportier setup also entail additional weight.
02:14With around 111 kg of additional weight, the curb weight is now almost 2.3 tons.
02:21Nevertheless, Skoda states the range as up to 540 km, under ideal conditions, mind you.
02:27In realistic everyday use, a consumption of between 17 and 20 kWh per 100 km should result in ranges of around 450 km.
02:42However, the RS tempts you to press the accelerator pedal a little more vigorously with its powerful acceleration and overall sporty design.
02:49It should not be forgotten that the all-wheel drive not only ensures performance,
02:56but also offers a decisive safety factor, especially in adverse road conditions.
03:04The driving dynamics are additionally supported by a sporty chassis and more precise steering.
03:09This means that the vehicle can definitely be steered through winding country roads with a driving experience similar to that of a sports car.
03:18Nevertheless, Skoda has deliberately taken care not to sacrifice comfort completely.
03:25The adaptive chassis is pleasantly supple in comfort mode and filters out even the roughest road bumps with ease.
03:31In sport mode, the handling becomes firmer, but always remains controlled and easy to handle.
03:40Skoda deliberately sets the limit for top speed at 180 km per hour.
03:46A measure that is becoming increasingly common in the electric segment.
03:50After all, efficiency is also an important criterion for sporty vehicles.
03:56Visually, the L-Rock RS is rather reserved.
04:01Unless you order it in eye-catching Mamba Green, you will hardly be able to tell it apart from other models on the road.
04:09The differences lie in the details.
04:12A somewhat more striking front and rear apron, some RS-specific design elements and new sports seats with strongly contoured side bolsters and an embroidered RS logo in the headrests.
04:23These not only offer excellent lateral support, but also comfort suitable for long journeys.
04:28The large 21-inch wheels were already on board the so-called first edition and, like the Alcantara trim, can also be found in other sportier versions.
04:38The seats and some visual accents are particularly new.
04:45Otherwise, the RS focuses more on understatement than on striking sportiness.
04:50A deliberate decision that will certainly appeal to many buyers.
04:55Another highlight is the charging capacity.
04:57While the L-Rock 85 can now only charge at a maximum of 135 kilowatts after changing the cell type, the RS can charge at up to 185 kilowatts.
05:10Skoda also emphasizes that the new CAT cells enable improved charging performance without extending the charging time compared to previous versions.
05:18A clear advantage for frequent drivers.
05:22In terms of price, the L-Rock RS is, as expected, at the top of the series.
05:27The basic model of the Aerox 50 Tour costs around €34,000 and is more of an entry-level offer.
05:34For the RS, on the other hand, you have to budget at least around €53,000.
05:38In addition, there are optional extras such as the heat pump for over €1,000, the 21-inch wheels and of course the paintwork.
05:49Whether steel gray, mamba green or exclusively in matte gray for the limited edition.
05:54When fully equipped, the price then already approaches the mark of around €57,000.
06:01By comparison, a similarly equipped Skoda NAC RS is around €6,000 more.
06:08By the way, there won't be a coupé version of the L-Rock like the NAC.
06:13The sportier RS version remains true to the classic body concept.
06:18And that's perhaps a good thing, because it leaves more space for families and everyday usability.
