00:00Welcome to the new video from the Auto Magazine Tuning Blog, where we present the exciting new
00:07product from ZF, the new Centrix Pedelec Drive, which was first publicly shown at Eurobike 2025.
00:14The highlight of this compact e-bike motor is a significantly increased torque of an
00:18impressive 105 Nm and a peak output of 750 W.
00:22With this, ZF is making a clear statement in terms of efficiency and driving dynamics in
00:31the payload drive segment. Despite these performance values, the size of the motor remains comparable to
00:38that of a beverage container, while the weight is only around 2.5 kg. This combination of power
00:45and compactness is made possible by a smart design and modern software management.
00:49Particularly noteworthy is that existing drive systems can also be updated to the
00:55latest version with a software update and thus subsequently benefit from the full performance
01:00of the Centrix. The integration of the ZFRI Ride app, which can now be used to preset three
01:07new driving profiles, deserves special attention. These preset modes Race, Wet and Ride allow the
01:14driving experience to be individually adapted. Whether for sporty tours, wet surfaces or everyday rides.
01:23In race mode, for example, the motor delivers its maximum power. The response is direct and sporty.
01:30The support is abruptly ended at around 25 km per hour. This setting is ideal for dry weather and fast rides.
01:38In contrast, the wet profile ensures a smoother response, reduces overrun, i.e. the motor's supply
01:47after pedaling, and reduces the peak power. This significantly increases safety on slippery surfaces,
01:56such as wet roads or muddy forest paths. For everyday use, ZF has developed the Ride profile,
02:03which offers balanced support. As soon as the rider's own power exceeds around 350 watts,
02:10the motor intervenes to provide full support. In boost mode, on the other hand, the system uses its
02:18full power, with the supply force being adjusted depending on the speed. The ZF Centrix impressively
02:26demonstrates how compact design, high performance and intelligent software can be combined.
02:33Anyone interested in learning more about the technical details, areas of application, or future
02:38plans for this innovative e-spike drive can find the link to the full article in the video description, as always.
02:46Yes, rather, we wanted a drive that is extremely small and yet powerful. We considered all battery sizes
02:52for every application. You can either get the drive with just the core controller on the top tube,
02:57or with an extension display or remote control. Indestructible, we wanted maximum robustness.
03:05To do this, we sprayed it with salt water to ensure corrosion resistance, an artificial sandstorm of Arizona
03:11dust, and to confirm the tightness. To look for errors, we put it in a CT scanner to make sure that
03:19everything inside is just right. And the whole thing is manufactured, assembled, and screwed together
03:25in the middle of Europe. A clearly defined process. Each drive then undergoes its final inspection.
03:31We support the bicycle manufacturer during the integration process before the bike goes on sale.
03:39That's exactly what I meant. That's what I was all about.
03:42Well, we're actually really happy with the ZF-ZX.
