00:05:17I are gonna go as Jay and Silent Bob me being Jay that is perfect so yeah we're gonna have a lot of
00:05:24fun and I love Halloween and it's so much fun yeah uh yeah it's gonna be awesome guys uh I hope

00:05:39I got to take my uh arms out of here so I can actually work my computer a little bit uh so last
00:05:44night we had what a game huh huh what a game man yeah right what a game exciting um it's kind of funny
00:05:51but boys we've had some themes kind of develop on this show over the last few weeks and one of them
00:05:57has been Patriot Dave on Mondays beside himself that like the Ravens still it's all right you got
00:06:04it still have better oh no oh no I got I got I got oh this guy's unbelievable one of them is that the
00:06:10Ravens uh is that the Ravens still have better odds than the Patriots yeah win the Super Bowl
00:06:16looks like Vegas may know a thing or two though because just like that the Ravens are back yeah they
00:06:22are and we'll get it we'll start with last night and then we'll look at what's happening going forward
00:06:26because they're gonna be just fine but Lamar Jackson looked uh as good as Lamar Jackson never
00:06:31does yeah absolutely the way he was tossing the rock Mark Andrews unbelievable game I mean just
00:06:37great ball all around by Lamar it's tough you know when it's the Dolphins anybody can kind of look
00:06:44good against the Dolphins at this point I don't know how McDaniels still has a job yeah I thought after

00:07:38touchdowns people were on the oh people were on the Dolphins yeah I mean they the Ravens had to come out
00:07:44and just put their foot on the gas last night they didn't have a choice like if Lamar played
00:07:48awful I feel like they still could win that game easily well your point is a good one uh and maybe
00:07:55fading the Dolphins offense here because the thing about the Ravens is the defense looks like it's back
00:08:00yeah uh I know they they sucked at the beginning they put all the money into the roster and it was
00:08:04like wow what a disaster but they were injured and now Ropon's back and Kyle Hamden played great last
00:08:09night and like the Ravens defense firmly feels back Lamar is just he's he's reached um what I've
00:08:15always called uh the neo phase of any great quarterback's career we're at the end of the
00:08:20first matrix movie never neo sees the matrix for what it is like that's what it's like watching

00:09:31yourself moving forward and before we know it I think this team is going to be like 10 and five
00:09:36well and and you combo it with what they did the bears last sunday where they kind of prove to
00:09:41themselves okay we can win a game yeah without lamar like our defense is still good and now all of a
00:09:47sudden there's uh there's for great uh there's not a first success there's one other element I want
00:09:54to talk about this game it has to do with the dolphins and it more how bad they are and
00:09:57they're well no they're look they're terrible like I don't want to I don't want to talk about
00:10:00the dolphins from a okay and I know they beat the falcons but like they're kind of irrelevant to
00:10:05talk about what they mean as a team right yeah right but last night there was a moment on the
00:10:10sideline with ollie gordon which is a little interesting because ollie gordon was uh he was a
00:10:14pass pro he's he's going to set a defensive end he loses his footing it looks like he almost does
00:10:20like a uh like a cut block uh unintentional and the refs give him a personal foul for tripping yeah I think
00:10:26this is a horrible call yeah look it is it is objectively a horrible call tripping when you're
00:10:31like you throw out your leg um he didn't do that it wasn't like it looks like he tried to get out
00:10:35of the way like oh I slipped like let me get out of the way I thought they were going to call a high
00:10:40low here my first thought was a high low and but then a tripping I was like what in the world and then
00:10:45the coach was was uh heated yeah and so I guess freaking out at so okay so so so we missed the part of the
00:10:52clip where as immediately when he comes off the field the coach is in his ass here it is berating
00:10:58him that's effing tripping getting on him ollie's like i didn't they're getting into it right and
00:11:03it begs the question as an athlete when you are getting reamed like that back by your coach and you
00:11:09know you didn't do it like you know it was wrong what are you uh what are you supposed to do you gotta
00:11:14take it yeah yeah you gotta just you gotta just smile and say yes sir it's i mean it sucks but
00:11:21sometimes can the smile get you in more trouble yes okay not but i don't know about a smile but
00:11:26just a nod yes yeah yeah i screwed up you're just sitting there like this yeah i'll be better
00:11:31i'll be better on the next rep as i'm dressed up as a piece of bacon yeah that's uh that's also maybe
00:11:36a bit of like the college and nfl difference nfl players may be a bit more uh willing to chirp back

00:11:47to be on the field my brothers i will i will continue to work my best to be best i remember
00:11:51one time in in practice and i don't think my coach ever forgave me for this but uh gears of war 3 had
00:11:58just come out we had all great game we all bought it at midnight we stayed up we were quad boxing in
00:12:04the apartment until like you know 5 a.m we're all straight into practice the next day and the coach
00:12:08said something to me miles and i gave him one of these who i gave him like this oh
00:12:16he was i would i was out of my mind i was i was sleep deprived and oh my god i don't think he ever
00:12:23forgave me i don't think he ever he was telling me something stupid and i and i and i and i dropped
00:12:28the facade for just a second and and i think yeah i think he hated me uh after that for for a long time
00:12:34because of it i don't know gears of war no i don't play video you have chainsaw chainsaw
00:12:38never played video games you don't know about the later it was for you know about e-day is gears of
00:12:42war where you had like the different like vehicles and you got to like fight people
00:12:46no um halo's more vehicle based battlefield just came out that's very vehicle based i wouldn't hate
00:12:51sitting down in a dark room and playing halo 3 with you for a while oh twisted metal yeah i mean

00:14:33and megan you can you can help me out here because we're we're talking about lsu um the the lsu athletic
00:14:39director scott woodward has uh now been fired ridiculous by the governor of louisiana that's wild it's it's
00:14:47it's it's a joke it's it's kind of making the entire state and uh organization in my opinion
00:14:54uh look like a clown show um it's it's it's look i understand woodward handed out a bad contract for
00:14:59football but he has hired coaches that have won multiple national championships in other sports
00:15:04uh be it baseball uh women's basketball with kim mulkey um although he did not hire jay clark from
00:15:10the gymnastics program he has reinforced them they won national championship uh and so i guess for what
00:15:15it's worth in my opinion i don't think woodward should have been fired even with the bad brian
00:15:19kelly contract i mean everybody pretty much thought the brian kelly contract was a massive win at the
00:15:24time uh when it was done i'm not really here to adjudicate woodward though what i do want to talk
00:15:30about is when the lsu job hit the open market it was pretty much universally considered to be the
00:15:37number one available job is that still the case yes when you have the governor out here firing coaches
00:15:45firing athletic directors and actively saying oh we're going to do a new type of contract
00:15:50an incentive-based contract for this next coach okay yeah i mean right away it's the number one job
00:15:56opening in the country yeah but now like who wants to come and just be under this tyrant of a governor
00:16:03like it just like doesn't sound fun at all no it's it's i mean incentive-based like yes i get it
00:16:09like it is an incentive-based um like college football is an incentive-based but to the point of
00:16:16like who wants to come coach for you when nothing is like i don't know no no no i think where you're
00:16:20getting that katika i think that makes any sense no no i think you're you're you're touching on
00:16:25when i feel almost like i'm taking crazy pills because i'm hearing very smart people like
00:16:33advocate for this idea of an incentive-based contract and understand why right coaches buyouts
00:16:37are ridiculous maybe the one thing the governor said that was pretty salient was the fact that you
00:16:41have a very small cabal of agents who are able to uh manipulate the market and create these sort of
00:16:46insane buyouts that reward failure and whatnot and so the the idea is like okay well we're gonna make
00:16:51a contract where look you win 10 games you get this many million you want to go to playoffs you get this
00:16:55many million and only a coach that's afraid of losing couldn't take that deal well on on paper
00:17:02but it shows kind of a juvenile just ignoring of the market if if somebody's gonna pay lane kiffin 13
00:17:10million a year guaranteed to be their head coach why would he take your contract yeah yeah why would
00:17:16he go to baton rouge over florida over uh uh staying in old miss i just like the only guy you're
00:17:22going to be able to get is somebody who's desperate to prove themselves right yeah and maybe maybe you
00:17:26get maybe you get a good guy but i think that i think scott woodward is or excuse me i think jeff
00:17:30landry is kind of running this into the ground megan how do you feel about it yeah i kind of feel the
00:17:35same way like i wasn't shocked when woodward got the boot you know but like also in the same aspect i you
00:17:42know reflect what you said and you know he did win us multiple national not win us but higher coaches
00:17:48that did win us multiple national championships yes football is the money maker down in baton rouge
00:17:53however kim mulkey's doing great things like as you said jay johnson great things like we're still
00:17:59we were still doing okay so i don't want to like crucify woodward that's not really where my problem
00:18:04lied uh landry just made our state look so so i mean the the southern stereotype of being dumb and yeah like
00:18:13poor spoken and all of that which you know hand up i can be but to be the governor and to go out and
00:18:19to i mean he definitely sounded like a cultural fit yeah i i love i love the cajun the lafayette cajun
00:18:29accent getting getting put on the big stage i just wish it wasn't with a governor with near dictatorial
00:18:35powers talking about hiring a college football head coach yeah and in a state that has way bigger
00:18:40problems and as far as like the incentive-based pay like yes i feel like if a coach came to prove
00:18:47himself yeah that would be cool but at the end of the day this is all about money this is about jobs
00:18:52this is this is a job so if you want to prove yourself maybe maybe go somewhere else i don't
00:18:59know that just doesn't make much sense to me like the motivation behind proving yourself at lsu is not
00:19:05the monetary gain that you get coaching there obviously this isn't commonplace really in any
00:19:11sport this type of behavior or just for this to happen is there any like other examples of this
00:19:19happening at any school i'm not entirely sure i i think there's some other states that have the same
00:19:24setup in that the governor's office gets to appoint the board of supervisors bizarre which runs the it
00:19:30all goes back to huey p long it's the kingfish it's it's history repeating itself um huey p was
00:19:35i mean huey p wrote the fight song uh for lsu he used to he he used uh federal funding to increase the size
00:19:43of the stadium by putting dorms in the state right to justify it he used to lead the band out uh
00:19:49it's it's it's the bet you would like this mike back in the day the best players would get to stay at the
00:19:53governor's mansion and he'd say huey just wanted to talk ball yeah you got to come stay at the
00:19:58go eat like kings yeah and he like exactly every man a king um here's the final note on it that i
00:20:05would say that is very interesting as i've said landry has amassed more power even more than edwin
00:20:10edwards and any louisiana governor has had since huey p if there was one way for him to lose his base
00:20:15and to screw it up it's by screwing up lsu football yeah like like this feels like such a needless risk
00:20:23from him in my opinion if this does not work out now again with great risk and great reward if it
00:20:28works out he becomes a legend right but this might be the only way in which he can cut his own legs out
00:20:34i'm kind of tired of hearing if it works out coming from lsu football yeah i'm tired of trying to just
00:20:41figure it out being in the the wasteland of purgatory that's not what i'm wanting at all i want a
00:20:48definite answer i landry has again our state is basically its own country yeah yeah but what he's
00:20:55done down there is just just made a mockery and i i don't appreciate it let me ask you this wouldn't
00:21:02it suck to have this much football problems you know i was just gonna say that would suck it's just

00:25:23one team in the country in ohio state who just throttles opponents that are classes below them

00:33:44discussed to end last hour and that is there's two lines that jump off the page this week as being
00:33:51classic like vegas knows best lines and it's utah minus 10 and a half against the bearcats team that's
00:33:58undefeated in the big 12 and then it's texas uh a team that's been underwhelming for the majority
00:34:02of the year who's favored at home against vanderbilt uh what's your breakdown of those grains do you
00:34:08agree with vegas and if you do uh how did they arrive there it seems like there's been a little
00:34:14bit of like the the rope-a-dope with that texas uh vandy line opened it about two and a half three
00:34:19earlier in the week got bet down when the limits were kind of smaller earlier in the week down to
00:34:24one one and a half and now when the when the limits have gone up you've seen it climb back up to three
00:34:29so it leads me to believe that texas is the right side even though it is eerily low usually i like
00:34:37uh when when you got the the home team with the predominant value big big brand team and they're
00:34:43laying the field goal or under field goal usually i'd like to play in the dog but i do think that
00:34:49texas is the right side here i i think they do show up i think arch plays and and i think vandy
00:34:54obviously still has a lot to play for if they can uh get a win either here or i believe later later
00:35:00in the year you're still looking at a ten and two type team and i would i would lay the points with
00:35:05utah i mean whether dampier plays or night and i have no reason to believe that dampier won't play
00:35:10and if cincinnati has been great with soresby since that opening game loss but it feels like that utah
00:35:15offense the way they get ahead of the sticks and put themselves in like third and manageable i do
00:35:20think that utah's the right side there oh wow i love you bear i'm disagreeing with you dana dana's a
00:35:25cincinnati guy he's he's a bear cat i have been i bet cincinnati a couple weeks back to win the big
00:35:3212 but like at a nice number so i hope i'm wrong there i've been i've been on them i had them
00:35:37against iowa state i had them against nebraska i've been a big uc guy this year so so i hope i'm wrong
00:35:43i know i just the ten and a half it just seems i usually they are vegas is obviously on to

00:36:29played at home in so long vanderbilt's been at home for so long does that have a like a does that
00:36:36affect that line at all or i don't i don't think so i mean you you're you guys are familiar with texas
00:36:44is not a a massive home field it's not classically a raucous type crowd so i i don't think it does
00:36:51i i think i think maybe psychologically for from texas's standpoint the fact that they
00:36:58they get home and do play home and maybe it matters a little bit i i think it's moral more
00:37:03along the lines of like an opportunity for them to after a couple of really tight overtime type
00:37:09games a big comeback can we exhale a little bit and and get vandy who's coming off of a big win
00:37:15themselves yeah yeah uh bear what what about when you look at the rest of the slate over the weekend
00:37:19we spend a lot of time in those two games what's your favorite play for the weekend i i like rice
00:37:23tonight getting 14 oh yeah yeah we saw last week tulane had the massive look ahead spot and got
00:37:30bombed by utsa you know you look at memphis you had the the win last week big fourth quarter
00:37:35comeback next week you got the game with tulane now you're laying 14 on the road against rice it
00:37:40just feels like uh too many for me and and i like south carolina um getting 12 and a half old miss
00:37:47again as good as old miss is now we're talking about the rebs being in the playoff and it's a
00:37:52lock they're going to go at least 10 and two probably 11 and one south carolina the question
00:37:56obviously is did they leave it all on the field last week in a game that they probably should have
00:38:00won but even as good as old miss is every single one of their sec wins has been a one-score game and
00:38:06even the game against 12 was it was a close one-score game so it might be asking a lot of them to win
00:38:12this game by two touchdowns these friday night games man these friday night games the deejins
00:38:17love him that's how you know bears a a real deejin rice plus 14 on a friday what a way to celebrate
00:38:26halloween what's this world series game six thing going on exactly live from houston uh bear y'all are
00:38:34heading out to uh to the to the shoe this weekend a high state penn state a game that before the year
00:38:41obviously we thought would have national championship expectations implications my
00:38:45question to you on this game would be how are you approaching penn state like what are you expecting
00:38:51out of them how do we know what the hell the nittany lions are going to be doing saturday
00:38:55i expect them to play well i mean i mean it's kind of i don't want to say the last stand because
00:39:00the season's been over for a while for them but i think defensively they're going to play well i mean
00:39:04they played well uh against iowa a couple of weeks back there they basically had an interception set up a
00:39:09a short field and then uh granoski with a 60 something yard run on a quarterback keeper which
00:39:15kind of set up the winning score i think defensively they'll play well it's not like ohio state has been
00:39:20putting up 40 40 40 points weekly i i think they'll go out and do what they but they they play great
00:39:27complementary football because their defense is so great and they haven't needed julian saying and
00:39:32kate and jeremiah smith to go out and win a bunch of shootouts like a team like georgia for example has
00:39:38so i think penn state's defense will play well i would lean towards taking the points here take like
00:39:43i could very easily see this be and it's like a 31 7 type situation and then maybe you get a back
00:39:51door back back door later has to allow the late scores i i wouldn't feel great about laying uh 20 and
00:39:57a half here bear i have a question for you how have you been doing this season as far as your bets go
00:40:01it's been it's been surprisingly great uh in the column on fox well shoot so okay so okay so megan's
00:40:10asking she has a little bit of uh uh an agenda here because you faded two of the picks that she just
00:40:15gave in the money quarter and she's been doing very well as well this year well well well but you
00:40:20know what that means that means we'll probably go one and one yeah we'll split i'll be okay with that
00:40:25that's how that goes but no i'm i'm uh 28 and 18 in the fox sports column that i do online and then
00:40:32and then i'm really going to put the whammy on myself right now the circa friday football
00:40:37invitational that uh derrick stevens runs at circa i'm in first place in that and then i'm tied for
00:40:43third in the westgate superbook college football super contest so there's only one way to go
00:40:48from here and that's down hopefully hopefully i can avoid that two and five week and uh

00:41:22the injury what's what's your thought on this game i like the sooners here oh i got it seems like a
00:41:29total contrarian play the tennessee defense really worries me i mean to allow 34 to kentucky last week
00:41:37and allow a bunch of points to some other teams that offensively haven't been great i had ou last
00:41:42week against old miss and that was a loser i'm going to come back with the sooners here it's funny
00:41:47because i was looking at their schedule and i was holding like an under six and a half wins ticket
00:41:51on them and you look at the schedule now i mean i'm going to lose the bet you get dead team walk
00:41:57and lsc with the end of the year you get missouri without probula like there's still an avenue to
00:42:01nine wins for ou maybe you win a ball game and you win 10 but i i think with blaylock emerging a
00:42:07little bit in the running game that might take some of the pressure off of mature but tennessee's
00:42:12been giving up so many big plays and on the flip i know uh ou hasn't been as great defensively
00:42:18against some of the bigger name teams that they played but catching three here i'm gonna uh i'm
00:42:23gonna take the ugly looking contrarian dog uh bear how about this looking forward a little more
00:42:30futures uh the heisman i'm trying to remember if there's a year where the heisman has kind of still
00:42:36felt as up in the air as it does right now it's not saying there's not favorites i mean certainly
00:42:40heisman doza and whatnot and and and saiyan's got to be in that mix but like it's still not decided
00:42:47uh who would you play for heisman right now i would play uh two guys number one the first guy i would
00:42:54play is julian saiyan i know the number is not necessarily great uh i think it's like four and a
00:42:59half to one or so but i i ultimately think this is going to come down to ohio state indiana big ten
00:43:04championship game and probably the winner gets it even though if i had a vote which i don't
00:43:10i would vote ty simpson right now i'm just curious if bam it does wind up winning out and winning the
00:43:16sec i think that path is a hell of a lot tougher for the tide uh than it is either iu or ohio state
00:43:22so i think ultimately san or fendoza will win but if i had to make a bet and i did make the bet
00:43:29a couple of weeks back and i still would bet it now i think diego pavi is a bet because
00:43:35so much of the heisman vote is about narrative and story and that's why they make it like that vague
00:43:41like most outstanding player you got the guy who's been battling for eligibility he's got that buzz
00:43:47it's vanderbilt vandy could go 11 and one like if that happens there's going to be a lot of support
00:43:53for diego pavia and that'll work what about a touchdown yeah look i i'm i'm believing i'm i
00:43:59believe in pavia i think he's one of those guys that um kind of transcends the analytics with his
00:44:06belief his leadership of men i hope he can go into austin and get it done uh bear what about national
00:44:11championship plays here do you have anybody that you would bet today that's worth it texas a&m has come
00:44:18down so i think that price is a little a little still oregon i still think is interesting i think
00:44:23defensively they're still pretty good i know they had the one off game at home against indiana
00:44:29oregon at the price that they are at i still think has a uh has a good bit of value and i think georgia
00:44:35has a good bit of value at 12 to 1 as well i mean georgia's defense they can't get a stop until
00:44:42they absolutely need it and you got stockton who has been playing a hell of a lot better the injuries
00:44:47that they've had on the offensive line have made them deeper uh the running backs are good it will
00:44:51be interesting to see how they do without colby young at wide receiver now but sometimes these
00:44:57teams that have some warts but they just find ways to win like they were dead in the water tennessee
00:45:03double digits down dead in the water at auburn double digits down dead in the water uh against all
00:45:08miss found a way to win two of those three games uh interesting game this week but sometimes these
00:45:14championship teams like they just have this dna mentality where you can't kill them yeah and in
00:45:20a playoff situation with the recruiting classes and the talent they have along with that mentality
00:45:24like they're going to be a real hard out there if the season ended today and the the playoff came out
00:45:30um what team do you think would have like that arizona state run that they had last year
00:45:36hmm or maybe not even ended today but if there's like a team that's going to go on an asu type run
00:45:40uh it i mean i guess if i would say i mean notre dame obviously is the team that would be in like
00:45:50that first round game yeah to make a run kind of like what they did last year i don't know i mean
00:45:56i guess you could say the winner of the big 12 again whether it's if it's not texas tech like if it's
00:46:02a byu if it's cincinnati but but notre dame's gonna they're gonna have to play if they get in
00:46:06that first round game uh and then they'll they'll wind up getting a couple other teams i'm curious
00:46:11to see how ultimately it goes because with the change in the in the in the top four seeds getting
00:46:17the by you're not giving it to conference champions like will there will there be that path for some
00:46:23certain teams again but but notre dame's a team obviously a lot of buzz a lot of hype and uh those
00:46:29backs are going to be a pain in the ass come playoff time to uh to get in what i'm curious though i've
00:46:34been throwing this ridiculous scenario out there like for the possibility like notre dame if they
00:46:38go 10 and 2 like there's a scenario where like the acc could get three teams in miami wins out
00:46:44doesn't make the championship game you got to put them in over notre dame because they beat them
00:46:48georgia tech maybe pulls the upset against the against georgia and they're undefeated and they
00:46:53lose in the acc championship game to like virginia yeah louisville the champ goes and you got to
00:46:57probably put georgia tech in so like this is a ridiculous scenario where like the acc could get
00:47:02three teams in wow and maybe notre dame get held out potentially that's wild to think about dude
00:47:06it's like bear seeing the matrix uh yes yes bear seeing the game passes okay uh so bear we got a
00:47:13lot of people that love the ponies at this company uh megan being one of them she was in saratoga
00:47:17recently i know i mean i to me it's the most fun form of gambling that's ever existed uh breeders

00:56:30i didn't have a chicken biscuit i think the first one i had when i was like 32 33 years old
00:56:37you couldn't find one in the northeast but but it didn't take me long living in the south to get hooked
00:56:42on those uh coach so when you were hired at a and m a couple of years ago i remember thinking this
00:56:49is a very shrewd hire by a and m right because this is a guy that's going to bring toughness
00:56:53it's going to bring culture i see the grind acronym on your on your on your sweatshirt there
00:56:59what is uh what does grind stand for yeah i think it's our internal motto i think we took a word that
00:57:06that kids throw around like um i've made this joke a lot kids throw this word around like hey uh i got
00:57:12up 11 o'clock this morning and i was grinding all day until one and so we just kind of wanted to use
00:57:18that as as the backbone of our program and so for us it's it's grit it's relentless effort uh it's
00:57:24integrity in the middle it's it's now which is just kind of that be where your feet are thought process
00:57:29and then the d is dependability to kind of be the same person every day and so uh it's what we live
00:57:33on in this program it's a big part of what we want to do and um it just was a cool word for these kids
00:57:39to kind of put some meaning behind it and uh and coach i i i mentioned this to you a bit off air but
00:57:45i played lsu back in the day and uh tommy moffitt was our strength coach there for 21 years uh in my
00:57:52opinion he's the best coach that i've ever had in my life i said when he was hired by you that it was
00:57:57another great move and that look i don't know what the wins and losses would be but they will be
00:58:01tough what has uh coach moffitt brought to that team as as as a strength coach because guys don't
00:58:08realize like those are the guys that you're with every single day of your life basically yeah yeah
00:58:13it's funny i did the same thing when i became the head coach at duke everyone wants to talk about you
00:58:18know offense defense x's and o's and and the first hire and the hire that i've spent the most time on
00:58:24at both stops is the strength coach because the strength coach plays such a role in in building your
00:58:29culture building your toughness building the things that show up in the fourth quarter when you got
00:58:34to win close games and uh and so i was able to do some research and obviously coach moffitt was
00:58:39available at the time and uh it's a hard resume to beat with everything that he's and that he's
00:58:44accomplished uh the history of winning the history of developing players to become nfl draft picks
00:58:50um you know it was a hard resume and when i sat down and talked to him uh i just was blown away
00:58:55with with his intelligence and how well versed he was in the modern world of strength and conditioning and
00:59:01um it was it was an easy fit for me coach uh you guys are obviously having an awesome season here
00:59:07uh undefeated and a lot of that is um i'm assuming having to do with your quarterback making a huge
00:59:13jump uh can you just talk about marcel reed's improvement this year and what you attribute that
00:59:18to yeah it's it's been cool to get to the other side of that conversation i answered so many questions
00:59:23about him in the off season about his uh what he was capable of and and we had such confidence in
00:59:29him and and i've said this before i think a lot of his growth just for whatever reason
00:59:33got overshadowed last year but um he's been a winner since we put him in as a starter uh he's
00:59:39a kid who's been really dynamic with his feet and i think this year uh he's made a tremendous jump
00:59:44in his ability to sit in the pocket and deliver the football as a pocket passer and so he's truly
00:59:49become a dual threat uh where you can you can't find someone who's been better on the bigger stage this
00:59:54year than he has yeah um man uh lsu fans we've certainly suffered at the hands of marcel reed
01:00:01now back to back years we can't do anything hey uh coach help me out with this because i i feel like
01:00:11so much of your success thus far in college station has been about uh the culture building changing the
01:00:18culture uh not letting the baggage of the past weigh you down and one of the kind of jokes that we all
01:00:25like to make when we're you know uh jabbing with a and m fans is texas eight and four texas eight and
01:00:31four how have you approached um how how have you approached changing these kids mindsets so that
01:00:37they start to believe and look we're not going to be uh uh maybe falling into some of the same pitfalls
01:00:42as previous years yeah i think probably doing it the opposite way of of other people or how people
01:00:48would think about it we hit it right in the head the first thing i did in my first team meeting
01:00:52was i put up who we are like what is our record what have we actually accomplished have we actually
01:00:58done um and the numbers were staggering and and and it was okay like it's okay to look in a mirror
01:01:04and say we're not who we want to be we're not where we should be um and just acknowledge that there's a
01:01:10lot of growth that needs to happen for us to be successful and that's where it all started and it
01:01:15wasn't you know promising a million things and it wasn't hey i'm here now and so everything's fine
01:01:21it was just a laying out a blueprint of what we had to do and and what had to change for us to go
01:01:26out and be successful and um you know to the kids credit i say this to them all the time um you know
01:01:31every coach comes in with a plan at the end of the day the kids are the ones that have to make the
01:01:36decision to change they're the ones that have to make the decisions to believe in what we're doing and
01:01:42you know they could have just as easily said you know what you know this isn't for me i'm not in
01:01:46like thanks but no thanks and and they didn't you know to their credit uh they've been all in with
01:01:51everything we've asked them to do and everything that we've changed and you know obviously then you
01:01:55start getting results and and you know results always lead to confidence and lead to build that
01:01:59belief and and coach one thing that we had brent key on earlier in the week as well and i asked him
01:02:06this so i'm kind of interested to see what your uh uh technique is here but so everything's going
01:02:12very well right now it's a little bit of rat poison season right to steal the old sabinism how do you
01:02:19how do you and you got another big one coming up you obviously have the vibe then you're going to
01:02:23mizzou on the road how do you keep this team on task and and doing the same things that have gotten
01:02:30you here in the first place yeah i think obviously that's the challenge now for us and i've said this
01:02:35to people this week you know we're fortunate because we were in a very similar position last
01:02:39year um you know just to rub it in one more time t bob we beat ls to go five and oh and become the
01:02:46last remaining unbeaten sec team and um quite honestly we didn't handle that well you know that
01:02:51was the first time a and m had really been in that position uh in a really really long time and you
01:02:56know and then we go to south carolina and we don't get it done and we go to auburn and we don't get
01:03:00it done and and so these kids had to learn the hard way um what it means to finish and what it
01:03:06means to see this thing all the way through and so um you know we've been able to draw on that we've
01:03:10been able to draw on those experiences and and i just think this group has a confidence about uh
01:03:15what we've been chasing all year you know and we weren't um coming into this season just trying to to
01:03:22be you know just trying to get on a radar just trying to get people to say something good about us
01:03:27uh we want to be in atlanta we want to be in the playoffs and we want to be beaten for the biggest
01:03:31prizes and you know to that end we haven't done anything yet and and and coach now again like i
01:03:36said on the other side of this bye week going to mizzou um another hostile environment uh you have a
01:03:42team though that seems to kind of thrive in the challenge they seem to like going invading foreign
01:03:50lands and and pillaging and taking the treasures back home uh what what kind of elements do you
01:03:56think are are are present in a team that's able to take the show on the road like that and get it
01:04:02done like where does that come from yeah i i believe it comes from confidence like real confidence and
01:04:08i think real confidence gets built through work i think our kids know what they've put in they know
01:04:13how they practice they know how they prepare they know the things that they're doing to give
01:04:17themselves an opportunity to be successful every week and so when you get into those moments in those
01:04:23hostile environments where you know truth comes out right like that's where it shows um i think
01:04:29they they have a quiet confidence in what they've done and who they've built as a team and so um you
01:04:34know the guy and then and then you have to have playmakers too like don't forget that part and so
01:04:38you know we got a quarterback who's a dynamic playmaker we got quite a few skill kids on offense
01:04:42who can make plays and um we got an edge who can change a game and and those things obviously play a
01:04:47role as well yeah coach um are you two-part question are you a big halloween guy costume guy
01:04:53like we are and do you have any fun plans this weekend kind of getting out of the office maybe
01:04:58hanging out doing some cool things anything like that yeah so so i was the most boring halloween costume
01:05:04guy ever so like i was the kid in the neighborhood that like threw on his baseball uniform
01:05:09football player or whatever the case may be and so um you guys have outdone me with the costume
01:05:14thing my entire life probably this morning but i am a big candy guy so like uh you go around and
01:05:20you get that pat laffy laffy taffy oh laffy taffy there we go that's a good deal and i said this
01:05:27yesterday on on fine bomb um my wife's birthday is saturday and so um for the first time in a lot
01:05:33of years i actually have some off time around her birthday in november and so um you know try to take

01:07:05re-establishes the culture gets time off it and now this a and m team's as tough as anybody in the
01:07:09entire country can i give you a dana b uh fun fact yes i love a dana b fun fact ran a uh 40-yard dash
01:07:16on the on kyle field once fastest 40 i've ever ran wow what was it do you know the time no i just felt
01:07:21really fast uh for those that have never been to kyle field it is one of beautiful it is the
01:07:28premier like i think in college football there are tier one stadiums in that you know kind of
01:07:33splitting between them is a little bit of splitting hairs but kyle field one thousand percent a tier
01:07:39one state it's a must you it's a bucket list type of place when they do when they do the saw it off in
01:07:44the third quarter it looks like the entire stadium it messes with like your perception yeah it looks

01:10:09and we'll see what it comes to the playoffs but the colts are built uh in a style that
01:10:15it's built for consistency yep because they run the ball they they went on the line of scrimmage they
01:10:20run the ball and then daniel jones can work off of that and he's been electric and executed perfectly like
01:10:25that is not fluky i guess that's what i'm getting at right the style of colts offense is not fluky
01:10:29that's why it's been so consistent week after week after week i keep thinking is this a fluke is this

01:11:28classic matchup it's in buffalo buffalo probably wins and then we get to the playoffs josh allen plays
01:11:34perfect yeah but something goes wrong and patrick mahomes beats him yeah this kind of feels like one
01:11:39of those games where if the bills lose you think there's something wrong with them but if the
01:11:44chiefs lose you're like oh it's the chiefs you know they'll be okay in 10 weeks or whatever but the
01:11:50bills if they lose their third game and they're starting to kind of fall behind the patriots a
01:11:54little bit you start to worry a little bit yeah looking a little more human and i don't know if
01:11:59there's a hotter team in the nfl right now than the kansas city chiefs who seem completely resurgent with
01:12:04rasheed rice back and so all of a sudden they have weapons and the song remains the same yeah
01:12:10a bit there like three shows ago we were like is this where the dynasty ends yeah i think i said that
01:12:15i think i said hopefully now wish that was uh that was maybe a little bit of uh projecting a little bit
01:12:21of hoping that we could uh get something different uh another sneaky great game here seahawks
01:12:27at commanders and jaden daniels uh set to return he's been practicing all week to me this is this
01:12:36is all the makings of a final stand for the commanders whereas the seahawks right now in a
01:12:42hyper competitive nfc west can't really afford to drop off the pace here no the seahawks are rolling yeah
01:12:49it kind of like this commander's team is the oldest in the league this roster yeah and you can kind of see
01:12:55it especially with mariota playing quarterback like they look slow yeah they don't look that
01:13:01competitive but i don't know man daniels he he just he's kind of having that sophomore slump type of
01:13:07season and yeah well he's been okay he's been good when he plays right it's just it's it's the injuries
01:13:11and then he did have the big fumble yeah against chicago i think the seahawks all over it uh oh you're
01:13:17going seahawks here i am unfortunately i i actually think his friends i think at home the desperation of
01:13:23the commanders ends up uh ends up carrying the day here and i think they get it done all right
