00:00:00What is going on guys? It is Friday here on Wake Up Barstool, T by Vavere, Dana Beers, Mike Cady making money.
00:00:09We're going to recap the instant classic Thursday night football game last night.
00:00:13We go to the money corner once again. Chris Felica joins the show.
00:00:16Jonathan Vilma. It's going to be massive. It's going to be super fun.
00:00:20And it all starts right now on FS1.
00:00:30Hey, what's happening guys? How about it? The big boys are back.
00:00:50It is Friday. You already know what that means.
00:00:53Me, Mikey, Dana, and Megan making money here in studio.
00:01:00It's going to be great. The holidays are in the air.
00:01:02This has that sort of wonderful last day before vacation feel.
00:01:10Now, look, the Wake Up team, we're not going anywhere, okay?
00:01:12We're going to be with you all week next week. That's going to be great and whatnot.
00:01:15But a lot of people getting ready to head out of the office, boys.
00:01:18How are we feeling? Are you all about to go on a little vacay?
00:01:22I'm staying through the weekend and then I'm leaving Tuesday, I believe.
00:01:26Nice.
00:01:26Yeah, going to see the family on the East Coast. Very excited.
00:01:30It's going to be great. It's going to be great.
00:01:32Maggie, what about you?
00:01:33California.
00:01:36Really? You heathen.
00:01:38I'm really excited.
00:01:39All right, but as much as I want to start with some general gist,
00:01:43I love you guys talking. We'll get there.
00:01:45We just have to dive right into this game.
00:01:47Unbelievable.
00:01:47Because last night's Thursday night football game going into the game was already maybe the biggest Thursday night football game we had ever seen in terms of quality of the team,
00:01:58in terms of setting, what's on the line this late in the year.
00:02:02Two 11 and three NFC West teams that know each other intimately well, battling for the one seed.
00:02:08Two teams that look like maybe they could be Super Bowl favorites.
00:02:11And there's nothing better in sports than a game where that's how the table is set.
00:02:17Well, then the meal not only delivers, but actually exceeds expectations.
00:02:22And you get some dessert.
00:02:23Yeah, we did. Literal dessert. Extra football.
00:02:28And it's a game that featured everything, right?
00:02:32Things that we've never seen before.
00:02:34Massive narratives swinging as the ball hangs in the air.
00:02:38But in the end, the Seahawks beat the Rams in overtime 38-37.
00:02:44And you watched a Lazarus performance last night as Sam Darnold went from being dead for three and a half quarters to suddenly finding life once again and being the man.
00:02:58How about it, boys?
00:02:59Biggest takeaway from last night?
00:03:01I mean, complimentary football.
00:03:03Yeah.
00:03:04Seahawks special teams scored.
00:03:06Their defense played well towards the end of the game.
00:03:09I know they gave up 30 points in the first three quarters, and they kind of stood tall at the end there.
00:03:16But they never gave up.
00:03:17It was Sam Darnold, maybe?
00:03:19He just kind of kept chugging away.
00:03:21Yeah, that was the story.
00:03:23The first half, I think, they threw six times.
00:03:26Felt like they were kind of trying to protect him a little bit.
00:03:28Yeah.
00:03:29And then he had two bad picks.
00:03:32And you start to think when—I mean, I know I started thinking that third quarter.
00:03:36I'm like, is this last year all over again?
00:03:39Yeah.
00:03:39I think a lot of people probably thought the same thing of like, is he just one of those guys that can't really perform when it comes down to these clutch moments?
00:03:47And we saw, man, it took that punt return, and they got that momentum, and then he looked awesome.
00:03:54And then the two-point conversion that we've never seen before.
00:03:57Yeah.
00:03:58And then once that—it's like, that's just—that's why we watch football right there.
00:04:04I want to dive into the two-point conversion in a second, but I do love that you mentioned the punt return because—and you mentioned all three phases of the game, Mikey, which I think is very spot on because football is the ultimate team sport.
00:04:19You are your brother's keeper.
00:04:22It is a weak-linked sport.
00:04:24You're only as good as your weakest player on the field at any given time.
00:04:28And so often on this side of it, when we talk about it, when we analyze it, even when we just talk with our friends, we're very reductive.
00:04:38And we bring it back to just quarterbacks.
00:04:41And make no mistake, I understand why.
00:04:42Again, the Sam Darnold narrative last night is unreal.
00:04:45The man was up to six picks in two games against the Rams this season.
00:04:49This is the same Rams team that dominated in the playoffs last season.
00:04:51He was as dead as dead could be.
00:04:54But you know what happened then?
00:04:56His brother picked him up.
00:04:57His boys picked him up.
00:04:59Rasheed Sheed—the Seahawks had to have a score, and they had to have it as quick as possible.
00:05:07And they did so, Rasheed Sheed.
00:05:09He comes up with a punt return.
00:05:10The touchdown, all of a sudden, all the momentum flips.
00:05:12As Mikey referenced, the defense comes up with all the stops they need to at the end of the game,
00:05:17including stopping Stafford in a two-minute situation.
00:05:21The Seahawks affect the comeback.
00:05:22And then, when the defense falters in OT and allows the touchdown, who has their back?
00:05:29Sam Darnold.
00:05:30That's right.
00:05:30The Seahawks may be the most complete team in the entirety of the NFL.
00:05:36And there's another Cajun canon saying that I have to highlight here, which is, look, sometimes it's better be lucky than good.
00:05:43Yeah.
00:05:44And that bears mentioning when it comes to this two-point conversion.
00:05:48Yeah.
00:05:48And Dana did mention momentum.
00:05:51Yeah.
00:05:51That was, like, the most—because the Seahawks scored the punt return, and then the defense looked like they just, like, found out the codes on football.
00:05:59Like, they stopped Stafford three and out, they go down, they score to A.J. Barner, former teammate, Hoosier, and then they stopped McGinn.
00:06:08Great route, by the way.
00:06:08We'll highlight that in a second.
00:06:09Sorry.
00:06:10They stopped McGinn.
00:06:10And, like, it was just, like, this light switch that went off, and they just played this unbelievable football that they didn't play in the first three quarters.
00:06:18And now they're playing it, you know, at the end of the fourth.
00:06:20And so—and then the two-point was crazy.
00:06:23It was nuts.
00:06:23So, here's the two-point conversion.
00:06:25They tried to do a little tunnel screen.
00:06:27It gets batted down.
00:06:29Looks like the play is dead.
00:06:30Is that Kenneth Walker that ends up picking it up, I believe?
00:06:33Charbonnet.
00:06:33Charbonnet.
00:06:33Sorry, I had my running back confused.
00:06:34I mean, he won the game.
00:06:35Yeah.
00:06:36Charbonnet just kind of picks up the ball.
00:06:38And, well, as we're lining up for kickoff, we go to review and say, wait on a second.
00:06:44That was a backwards pass.
00:06:46We have a clear recovery in the end zone.
00:06:48That two-point try is actually good.
00:06:50Nice.
00:06:50Insane.
00:06:51I've never seen that ever.
00:06:52Honestly, just—I don't think I've ever seen that in the history of football.
00:06:57Kirk Herbstreit, love the guy.
00:06:59He said that was a hustle play by Charbonnet.
00:07:01Yeah, they did.
00:07:02He just picked the ball up, man.
00:07:03It's a heads-up play.
00:07:04It's a heads-up.
00:07:05He just picked the ball.
00:07:06He was giving it to the ref.
00:07:07No, yeah.
00:07:08Here's what I would say is, can we go trust tree here?
00:07:12Because I should, like—I should have been able to find an answer this morning, but I haven't been able to.
00:07:17So, we were told on the broadcast last night that they did not blow the whistle, but there was a whistle before he picked the ball up.
00:07:27A kind of late whistle.
00:07:28So, I guess what I'm wondering is, how is that allowed to—how is the play allowed to continue all the way through him picking it up in the end zone?
00:07:36I honestly didn't even hear—I didn't know there was a whistle either.
00:07:39Yeah, there's—
00:07:39I didn't know there was a whistle either.
00:07:41There's a late whistle, admittedly, but it is before he picks the ball up.
00:07:46Now, I guess, look, let's say this.
00:07:48If it wasn't in the—because we do see this in other situations where a quarterback throws a ball or something.
00:07:58It's, you know, is it a fumble?
00:07:59It's incomplete.
00:08:00The other team returns for a touchdown, but they call it incomplete originally.
00:08:04And so, it's—maybe that's what it is.
00:08:06It's just where the ball is picked up.
00:08:07Yeah, and I think this was such a—
00:08:09Do we have clarification, production?
00:08:11All right, thank you.
00:08:12Give me a try.
00:08:12I think it was such a bang-bang play.
00:08:14Like, anyone, even if you're live at the game or watching it on TV, it's hard to see that that was a backwards pass right away.
00:08:22It had to take the replay to see, like, oh, wow, this hit versus Helmut behind the line.
00:08:28So, it was like a—I don't know if you can call that.
00:08:31It was weird.
00:08:31All right, from Terry McCullough, in the backwards pass, the world forward incomplete, replay, and reverse, there's a clear recovery in the immediate continuing action.
00:08:38Recovery teams awarded the ball at the spot of recovery.
00:08:40Let me make this perfectly clear.
00:08:42Whether or not a whistleblown is completely irrelevant.
00:08:44Okay.
00:08:45Shout out to Terry.
00:08:46Thank you, Terry.
00:08:47Yeah.
00:08:47So, I guess what was breaking my brain is just that the clear recovery happened in the end zone.
00:08:53First, normally we see this maybe bring back a defensive touchdown where a guy scoops and scores, but they're like, ah, we blew it dead.
00:08:59Can I tell you who the LVP of this game was in that last fourth quarter?
00:09:04In the fourth quarter?
00:09:05Yeah.
00:09:05The Rams punter, okay?
00:09:07Yeah.
00:09:07That first kick, because he was short.
00:09:10Yeah.
00:09:10He had all the time, no hang time.
00:09:13He had all the time in the world to just grab it and go.
00:09:16And then the second punt, when they got the ball back, was a wobbly one.
00:09:21I think it was a 50-yard line.
00:09:23And so, I love punters, but come on, man.
00:09:27In those situations, you've got to get some hang time.
00:09:29You really love punters, or was that just like a comment that you just threw in?
00:09:32You're not trying to be nice.
00:09:34I know how you feel about kickers.
00:09:35You know how we feel.
00:09:36Also, T-Bob, I know you mentioned that that was between the first game and the last game.
00:09:43That was six picks.
00:09:44Yeah.
00:09:44Sam Darnold.
00:09:45He's thrown 13 on the year, so that's almost half of his interceptions on the year.
00:09:49Just against the Rams.
00:09:50Just against the Rams.
00:09:51Wow.
00:09:51Yeah, and then so, it's going to be interesting to see, because a lot of times in life, I feel
00:09:58like we almost have to do something to prove to ourselves that we can do it, and to affect
00:10:05that self-belief.
00:10:06Like, is this Sam Darnold getting the proverbial monkey off his back?
00:10:09Yeah.
00:10:10Because this was a, for all intents and purposes, this was as big, if not bigger, than a playoff
00:10:13game.
00:10:14I mean, this game is the difference, maybe, between having to go on the road versus having
00:10:19to play in one of the NFL's, getting to stay home in one of the NFL's toughest environments
00:10:24the entirety of the postseason.
00:10:26I mean, you have the one seed now.
00:10:27You're not going to have the Rams all the way down to the wild card.
00:10:30So, massive win for Sam Darnold.
00:10:32I know they're awesome.
00:10:33Nuts, dude.
00:10:34So, obviously, you know, we all watch the game, but when you look back at the first
00:10:38game between the Rams and the Seahawks, they held Stafford to, I think it was 150 passing
00:10:43yards and 15 completions.
00:10:46What happened?
00:10:47I mean, they play better at home defensively.
00:10:49Like, what do you guys think was inevitably the Seahawks, like, you know, thorn in their
00:10:54side throughout the first three and a half quarters?
00:10:57So, I feel like we almost need Baldy here to give us these two schematic breakdowns, but
00:11:07I'll say this.
00:11:08I don't think the Seahawks' defense played as poorly as the total yardage would have you
00:11:15believe and as poorly as maybe the score would.
00:11:18Those turnovers, there was also the Cooper Cup fumble, those set up the Rams with some
00:11:22very short fields.
00:11:23And, yes, the Seahawks were allowing the Rams to move the ball a lot of times.
00:11:27But when it came down to the red zone, they did a good job of forcing field goals.
00:11:32And then, I think also, Meg, to me, it's just like, it's Sean McVay and Matt Stafford.
00:11:37And granted, maybe that red zone, where the Rams are the best red zone team in the entirety
00:11:42of the NFL, maybe Devontae Adams plays last night.
00:11:44That's different.
00:11:45They don't settle as much.
00:11:46But, yeah, I just, I mean, it's good on good.
00:11:49It's one of the best defense against one of the best offenses in the NFL, and the offense
00:11:53is going to win some of those two.
00:11:55But it is interesting when it mattered most that Seattle won the most high leverage moments
00:12:01last night.
00:12:02The strange thing it felt like was, they were aggressive in those first three quarters.
00:12:06And they were, you know, they were playing Sean McVay, Matt Stafford football.
00:12:10And then it felt like in that fourth quarter, they just got a little, you know, less aggressive.
00:12:14And I think they had five possessions, and they just weren't playing as aggressive as you would
00:12:21think they would be.
00:12:22Obviously, they have the lead, so you're going to start running the ball.
00:12:25But still, I mean, even when you're in that position, it feels like you've got to be able
00:12:30to play the football that you know you can play, that you've been doing for three quarters.
00:12:34And it felt like they didn't whatsoever.
00:12:36Well, and this is that classic, this is what's always so hard to parse for me, right?
00:12:40Because, and this is why I make jokes about us all, we're like medieval people going to
00:12:45church, and the priest is speaking in Latin, and we actually don't know what the hell we're
00:12:48watching, but we're like, this is probably good for me.
00:12:51Like, I always take the approach that the Seahawks did something.
00:12:55Yes, the Rams probably changed the approach, but that the Seahawks made some adjustments
00:13:00defensively, some counter punches that they came up with in the most important moments.
00:13:05Guys made more plays and found a way to step up, and I always kind of attribute it more
00:13:10to the other team playing better, and the adjustments versus maybe the Rams.
00:13:14But then again, teams do get conservative in the big leagues, and to be clear, the Rams probably
00:13:20felt like they had it locked up, because they should have.
00:13:23I thought the game was over.
00:13:24The Seahawks are now 1 and 172 when trailing by 15 in the fourth quarter.
00:13:32Oh my.
00:13:33That was the first win.
00:13:35Can I tell you what?
00:13:36I'm officially a date of beers.
00:13:38I'm all set with this for the rest of time.
00:13:41Win probability.
00:13:42I'm done with it.
00:13:4497% last night.
00:13:45I don't care about your win probability.
00:13:47Oh, win probability is fun, though, right?
00:13:48I don't care about it anymore.
00:13:50Throw it out the window.
00:13:51I'm all set with it.
00:13:52I like win probability from a hindsight standpoint.
00:13:56I don't care during the game, because again, 83% can happen, but I do like it in terms
00:14:01of providing context for how bad a team blew it, and how much pain they should be in.
00:14:06Can I give you an insane one?
00:14:08Yeah, hit me.
00:14:09My first start against Penn State, we had a 0.8% chance to win the game, and we won the game.
00:14:17Wait, wait, going into the game, 0.8%, or like during the game at one point?
00:14:20I think it was like...
00:14:22Wait, Mikey, you can't leave Dana hanging, dude.
00:14:25I think it was like eight minutes left in the game.
00:14:27Oh, my God, dude.
00:14:290.8%.
00:14:29They threw a long touchdown, and we needed to go down, score, get the ball back, go down,
00:14:35score, two point, and then overtime, we went for it, and that was the Mike Pennix reach out.
00:14:42Oh, that was a great play, dude.
00:14:44I mean, I think it was a 99.2% chance to win the game.
00:14:50Wow.
00:14:50Kalen DeBoer, the OC there?
00:14:52Yes.
00:14:52At that point?
00:14:53No.
00:14:54Or no?
00:14:54No, he was at Fresno.
00:14:56Okay.
00:14:56But yes, game probability.
00:14:57But I also wanted to say, sorry if I'm...
00:15:01The momentum that you can get on offense, like if you stop a team, if you don't get a first-first
00:15:06down in a drive, that kills so much momentum.
00:15:10Like, the Seahawks were getting that first-first down, and then their drive would go.
00:15:13The Rams would get three and out off the field.
00:15:17Seahawks would go down.
00:15:18Rams, three and out.
00:15:19And then you're dead.
00:15:20Like, there's no rhythm.
00:15:21It feels so bad.
00:15:22The rhythm that you had on offense in the first three quarters is now dead.
00:15:26Yes.
00:15:27All right, so a couple meta questions here.
00:15:30Do you trust Sam Darnold now?
00:15:31Yes.
00:15:32I trusted him before.
00:15:33I would say this.
00:15:34I think I'm kind of like you, Kadek.
00:15:36I would say that I probably trusted him more than most before.
00:15:38I would say, though, that more importantly, trusting Sam Darnold, I really trust the Seattle
00:15:43Seahawks.
00:15:44Yeah.
00:15:44Because even in that last game, they lost the turnover battle terribly, and they still
00:15:48almost won.
00:15:49Like, they feel like the most complete team in the NFC, and I don't think it's, like,
00:15:54very hard to make that case.
00:15:55I mean, listen, the guy won 14 games last year.
00:15:58He'll probably win 13 or 14 this year.
00:16:00But nothing matters until that playoff game.
00:16:03Nothing matters.
00:16:04And right now, like, I was ready to come in here this morning, if that fourth quarter
00:16:09didn't happen, and say, there's Sam Darnold again.
00:16:12Yeah, I know.
00:16:13I was ready to say that.
00:16:14And I feel like everybody was ready to say that.
00:16:17He's this guy that can't perform in these last couple games, in the playoffs.
00:16:21It doesn't matter until that game.
00:16:23It really doesn't.
00:16:24And if they get the one seed, awesome.
00:16:26But right now, I mean, again, I was, like, ready to say, two picks.
00:16:31The guy was not looking good.
00:16:33But that's why I love sports, though, is because you, it's so rare in life in which you actually
00:16:42control your own destiny.
00:16:43Yeah.
00:16:43You can work your ass off out there, and maybe you just get unlucky, and you never get the
00:16:48opportunity or the success that you deserve by how hard you work.
00:16:52Like, you may never get the attention, you may not get the job, because this guy knows
00:16:55this guy.
00:16:56And he, like, there's a million examples.
00:16:58Sports is a true meritocracy.
00:17:00You and your performance controls how we talk.
00:17:04You boys, meritocracy, what you get, you earn on the basis of your own merits.
00:17:09No, you didn't know.
00:17:11That's why I said no.
00:17:12I shook my head down.
00:17:13We both knew that we didn't know that word.
00:17:14I knew that they weren't going to know.
00:17:17Meritocracy.
00:17:18I know merit.
00:17:18Yes, that's all it is.
00:17:20That you earn what you get based on your merit, based on the merit of what you do.
00:17:26Are we in a meritocracy?
00:17:27I believe, we believe we are.
00:17:29I think it's a bit of a myth.
00:17:30In the world?
00:17:30I think it's a bit of a myth.
00:17:32The American dream is that of a meritocracy, but like I said, a lot of people get screwed
00:17:37over.
00:17:37They work hard, and it doesn't go their way.
00:17:43Ho, ho, ho!
00:17:45Welcome back!
00:17:46It's time.
00:17:47It's Friday, which means we check in with our guy, the Bear, best friend of the show
00:17:52here on Your Own Wake Up.
00:17:54Oh, Bear!
00:17:55Look at our guy.
00:17:57We're all freezing here in Chicago.
00:17:59He's down in Miami.
00:18:00Crew's on deck, and he's still made time to join us this morning.
00:18:04Bear, how we feeling this morning, Brad?
00:18:05We're feeling great.
00:18:07Had a great meal.
00:18:09Went over to see my buddies at Miami yesterday, where they headed out to College Station, and
00:18:13I had it on a little 10-day cruise, and I guess for planning, in a sense, by me, I guess
00:18:19at the time I booked it, I kind of assumed that Miami was going to have a bye in the first
00:18:24round, and I'd be back in time for the quarterfinal, but yeah, my Canes are going to be playing
00:18:28while I'm out at sea there on Saturday, so we'll see what happens.
00:18:31Hopefully, the crews will have no issue getting that game on the TV.
00:18:35I mean, I imagine they're going to have the game, and that's going to be about as cool
00:18:40of a setting to watch that game in.
00:18:42Like, I understand going to the game would be fun, but I mean, high seas, unlimited drinks,
00:18:46delicious foods?
00:18:48I mean, it sounds great, dude.
00:18:50Yeah, tonight is a good dry run, being that we've got Alabama, Oklahoma.
00:18:56I'll be able to figure out exactly where I'm going to be, so yeah, it's going to be an
00:19:00awesome time.
00:19:01Are you a big buffet guy, Bear?
00:19:03You love hitting the late-night buffet at the cruise?
00:19:07Well, come on.
00:19:08I mean, that was kind of a rhetorical question.
00:19:11I was going to say, do you really need to ask that?
00:19:14I just want to make myself feel better.
00:19:16I'm a breakfast buffet more than, like, late-night buffet.
00:19:20I mean, I just give you whatever, egg, sausage, whatever all you eat.
00:19:23So, one of my core beliefs, I would say, Bear, on this entire earth is that breakfast buffet
00:19:34sausage links specifically are one of life's greatest treats and the premier breakfast meat
00:19:42when it comes to buffet.
00:19:43Yeah, Lee, because I like how they layer the sausage on top of the bread as well to soak up the grease.
00:19:50So, you're not getting all that extra grease that you would from the sausage and the bacon.
00:19:54But, yeah, a little sausage links.
00:19:57I'm getting fired up.
00:19:59My stomach.
00:20:00You've got to be fired up tomorrow morning right now.
00:20:03All right, all right, all right.
00:20:03We've got to talk football, though.
00:20:05We've got to talk football.
00:20:05I can cook food for hours.
00:20:06Um, Oklahoma, Alabama tonight.
00:20:10And, Bear, I'll tell you where my head's at with this game, and then I want to hear where
00:20:14you're at because I think there's a lot of weird, somewhat illogical things that I'm like,
00:20:21okay, like, is Brent Venables really going to go 3-0 against Alabama?
00:20:26We all know about the postgame win expectancy against game one.
00:20:29Does that mean Alabama's actually better?
00:20:30But, all the same weaknesses I saw from the matchup going into that first game,
00:20:36in terms of how Oklahoma can exploit what Bama wants to do, those still exist.
00:20:40And they've kind of deepened.
00:20:41And Thomas is coming back.
00:20:43And Alabama's often started to flag down the stretch.
00:20:46Like, I think Oklahoma's going to win this game.
00:20:49I think they are.
00:20:50And I know a lot of people seem to be going the other way.
00:20:53Yeah, these are two teams that I wanted to bet against both of them in the college football playoff.
00:20:58And, ironically, they're both playing each other, so I get to choose to bet on one of them.
00:21:03I'm with you.
00:21:04So, like, the best unit on the field is the Oklahoma defense.
00:21:08And I think the second best unit on the field is the Oklahoma special teams.
00:21:12And that's what won the first beating.
00:21:14So, like, if you look at Alabama, like, I don't know if there's a – you guys who play,
00:21:21you can tell me more so than I'm just throwing it out there.
00:21:24Like, is there this magic switch that you can just flip at the end of the year?
00:21:28They played so poorly in the last month of the year.
00:21:31And I just don't know if we can expect them to play better in this spot and play like they did early in the year
00:21:38when they dominated Wisconsin and then they beat Georgia in the road and out.
00:21:43But, yeah, I like Oklahoma in the game, despite you reference that 5% win probability postgame,
00:21:49outgamed by almost 200 yards.
00:21:51But they dominated – this is something with Venable's defense that you saw last year even in the game in Norman
00:21:57that they're getting a lot of pressure on Ty Simpson there.
00:22:02He tends to throw it up there.
00:22:04He's turning the ball over.
00:22:05He's very sloppy with the football lately in the year.
00:22:07But, yeah, I've come around here.
00:22:09I bet OU in a small number, a small plus number.
00:22:12And now they flip, which is always dangerous when you flip them.
00:22:14Well, and it's a deal where, I mean, it's in Norman, right?
00:22:17It's in Norman and Alabama's one-dimensional.
00:22:20All right, boys, sorry.
00:22:20You got any of the games you want to ask about?
00:22:22No, I mean, I was going to say, you know, piggybacking off what you were saying about, you know,
00:22:27how can you flip a switch, I think the momentum – it's how you finish the regular season.
00:22:31Obviously, Alabama didn't finish the way they wanted to in the SEC championship.
00:22:35I just don't think they have enough time and preparation to make all these adjustments
00:22:40to somehow stop how dominant Oklahoma's defense has been.
00:22:46It's just going to – like I say every week, it's going to come down to the trenches
00:22:49and how Alabama's offensive line can protect Simpson and create a run game.
00:22:55I just – Meg?
00:22:56It's going to be tough.
00:22:56Also, Bear, obviously you said that special teams is going to be a big difference for Oklahoma.
00:23:02They were able to force three turnovers against Alabama in that last game.
00:23:07Do you think that they're going to be able to recreate that same turnover margin in this game?
00:23:13Yeah, usually, I mean, their turnovers aren't really sustainable.
00:23:16It's kind of – you'll always look – we're looking towards win total like for the following year.
00:23:20We'll be looking to kind of fade and go against all those teams that had positive win totals,
00:23:25positive turnover margins last year.
00:23:27But, yeah, I think it is with the way Oklahoma plays defense along with the economy.
00:23:31I mean, we've seen Ty Simpson late in the year, whether it's been fumbling the ball on sacks,
00:23:36whether it's been the interceptions that he's had trouble with,
00:23:39including the pick six against Oklahoma earlier this year.
00:23:44He's been for what – I don't know if he's not healthy.
00:23:47I don't know if it's the fact that Ryan Williams hasn't been the player that he was last year.
00:23:52But we have seen him turn the ball over regularly, and that's a problem moving forward,
00:23:57especially with the team that – at home, with that pass rush that they have,
00:24:01they get going.
00:24:01I think Simpson's going to be under pressure.
00:24:03I'd be surprised if the Bama got through this game without turning it over at least once.
00:24:08All right, Barrett, let's get to, like you said, your Miami Hurricanes,
00:24:11because I've got to go – and I've been very upfront about this on all my different shows.
00:24:15I've been very clear about this.
00:24:16I'm guilty of not watching Miami.
00:24:22At the very beginning of the year, I was locked in, right?
00:24:26They were playing great.
00:24:27They're one of the main stories.
00:24:29Then they lose those two games, and I did kind of what the committee did, you know?
00:24:34I was like, all right, that's cool.
00:24:35That's Miami.
00:24:35That's it for this year.
00:24:37And then all they did after that was kick complete ass.
00:24:40And now, look, I've caught up reading about them, watched some highlights.
00:24:44You know, Reuben Bain ends up ACC Defensive Player of the Year.
00:24:47Malachi Tony continues to be incredible.
00:24:49We all know about the highlight plays C.J. Daniels makes.
00:24:51We just highlighted one.
00:24:53But how do you score this Miami team going into College Station against what for some of the year,
00:25:01though they peaked early, looked like one of the most complete teams in the entire country in Texas A&M?
00:25:07How are you feeling about your Canes in this matchup?
00:25:09I feel pretty good about their chances in this game.
00:25:12They actually – I got a bad number at the start.
00:25:15I grabbed Miami, plus five and a half.
00:25:18I think it ultimately is going to come down to what we see from Miami and A&M.
00:25:25Are we going to get the A&M team that we saw at the end of the year,
00:25:29which struggled against South Carolina, which struggled in the game against Texas,
00:25:36or are we going to get the A&M team that we saw that went to Notre Dame and won
00:25:39and put up a bunch of points at a bunch of yards in that game on the undefeated team
00:25:43that we saw all throughout the start of the season?
00:25:45And then Miami's season has kind of been that same type of episode where you had them play great early in the year
00:25:52where they were number two in the country.
00:25:53You had the two-game lull where they lost two or three.
00:25:57And then the last month of the year, they've been as great as anyone.
00:25:59So, the one thing that would concern me about A&M and their defense is Miami's a team that when they've lost those games,
00:26:08you saw Carson Beck with four picks against Louisville, turn the ball over again.
00:26:13A&M's only had three interceptions in the defense all year long.
00:26:16And that would concern me.
00:26:17Like, Megan was just talking about, like, the turnovers and your ability to – can you keep it to –
00:26:22the fact that A&M hasn't necessarily gotten those interceptions this year,
00:26:25that leads me to believe that I think Carson Beck can avoid the turnover bug.
00:26:30I think the way Miami – I think their offensive line feels really good about their chances of –
00:26:35I know 9 and 11 they think are really good players.
00:26:38But the Canes offensive line has been good all year.
00:26:42And with A&M, again, like, you look at the schedule and you're like,
00:26:47okay, they didn't play any of the top teams in the SEC until the game in Austin.
00:26:51And they had a four-quarter game with Arkansas, four-quarter game South Carolina,
00:26:54four-quarter game with Florida, a four-quarter game with a lot of teams in the SEC
00:26:59that weren't necessarily great.
00:27:01So, like, that – it kind of makes – are they really an 11-1 type team?
00:27:07But the power – the odds bakers in Vegas have them favored.
00:27:11I was a little surprised it was that high.
00:27:13So, if Miami's defense can avoid having to blitz because Marcel Reed has been unbelievable
00:27:19against the Blitz this year, it's when he's kind of had to sit back there at times
00:27:24and, like, read his own and things like that.
00:27:26That's where he's kind of struggled.
00:27:28So, if Miami can kind of replicate what Texas did in that game,
00:27:32I think the Canes have a really good chance of winning.
00:27:34Yeah, Bear, we're just switching gears to these last two games here.
00:27:38Obviously, two bigger spreads with Tulane Ole Miss and James Madison Oregon.
00:27:42Is there either one of those that you're looking at the dog –
00:27:45is there either one of them that you're leaning towards in terms of one of these
00:27:49lower seeds having a chance at covering a spread?
00:27:52What are you leaning on these two games?
00:27:54I think Tulane might have a better chance of covering the number than potentially
00:27:59James Madison.
00:28:01Just because Tulane Ole Miss have played this year,
00:28:03you really don't know what's going on in the locker room
00:28:07and the time off between Lane leaving, systems leaving,
00:28:10and then coming back and prepping them for the game.
00:28:12So, Tulane's a team that – I mean, I think Rex Laff has improved
00:28:16throughout the course of the year.
00:28:17They did beat Duke, but I think they at least have a chance maybe
00:28:21to cover the game, whereas I just don't know how James Madison scores.
00:28:25I laid 20 and a half earlier in the month with Oregon.
00:28:31I expected the number to go up, which it really hasn't,
00:28:34which has kind of surprised me.
00:28:36Maybe it will by Saturday night.
00:28:38But under in this game I think is a really good bet
00:28:40because this could very easily be like a 30, 38, 7, 31, 7 type game
00:28:47for Oregon, where JMU just absolutely struggles moving the ball
00:28:51and scoring.
00:28:52So, if I were to make one play in this game, Oregon under 46 and a half,
00:28:58and there actually were some prices out there where you could get this game.
00:29:03I know you've got to go against Alabama and Oregon and Oklahoma tonight,
00:29:06but you could get this game to be the lowest scoring game of the weekend
00:29:10at like around plus 250, 260 or so, and that was something that kind of
00:29:14interested me as well.
00:29:15That's good value.
00:29:16Yeah.
00:29:17And, look, Bear's been giving us winners all year long.
00:29:20What was the Miami to make the playoff bet a few weeks ago?
00:29:22Wasn't that like plus 300?
00:29:24Yeah, he gave it to me.
00:29:25It was 5-1 whenever he gave it to me.
00:29:27Wow.
00:29:27And it went down to 3-1.
00:29:28It went down to plus 150 right before the selection.
00:29:31Look at our guy making some money for presents under the tree.
00:29:35Bear, hey, thank you so much, brother.
00:29:37Enjoy the cruise.
00:29:39Enjoy the islands.
00:29:40Best of luck to your canes, and eat some sausage for us.
00:29:43Buffet.
00:29:44All about the news.
00:29:46Plenty of eggs.
00:29:47Plenty of sausage.
00:29:48Let's go.
00:29:48Let's go.
00:29:49All right.
00:29:50Felica the Bear, thank you so much.
00:29:51Best friend of the show.
00:29:53Every single Friday makes time for us.
00:29:55It really does.
00:29:55It's just the best, guys.
00:29:57All right, coming up next, speaking of money,
00:29:59Megan has been on fire lately,
00:30:03and we'll head back to the Money Corner
00:30:05where Megan's going to give you some more plays over the weekend.
00:30:07Don't go anywhere.
00:30:08You're not going to miss it.
00:30:09It's on Wake Up Barstool.
00:30:09It's right here on FS1.
00:30:14I wonder if we'll know that the show's back on.
00:30:17Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool.
00:30:20All right, guys.
00:30:21It is time to once again head to the Money Corner.
00:30:23Megan, 9-1 over the last two weeks.
00:30:27Miss Making Money, what do you got for us?
00:30:28Here we go.
00:30:30Welcome back.
00:30:31Happy holidays and Merry Christmas.
00:30:33Hopefully, my present for you guys this week will be more wins.
00:30:38First up, I hated when the Bear texted me and told me he was on Oklahoma
00:30:41because I'm taking Bama on the money line.
00:30:45Obviously, people don't think they just need me here.
00:30:47They haven't played awesome over the last two months,
00:30:50but a win in Norman would shut everyone up.
00:30:53You and Brandon Walker have Bama brain.
00:30:55Whatever, whatever.
00:30:57As the Bear said, Alabama did outgain OU by 200 yards.
00:31:02They needed three turnovers to come back and win that game.
00:31:06And look, if Oklahoma can't figure out that run game,
00:31:09that offense is going to become one-dimensional.
00:31:11It's all going to fall on Matier's shoulders.
00:31:13And inevitably, I think Alabama comes up on top.
00:31:17So give me the Alabama Crimson Tide on the money line.
00:31:20You know how dumb my brain is?
00:31:23I think because Alabama's defense is awesome,
00:31:26but Oklahoma's offense is so bad that it doesn't matter.
00:31:29If you're already bad, then, like, what does it mean?
00:31:32You know?
00:31:32Okay, whatever.
00:31:32Next.
00:31:33All right.
00:31:33Up next, we're going to go down to the Bears' little side of the country
00:31:38at the moment.
00:31:39We're going to take Miami plus the three and a half.
00:31:42I think they're back at three.
00:31:43Miami, obviously, they're playing against Texas A&M,
00:31:46and I love Coach Elko.
00:31:48I respect him.
00:31:48I love what he's done with this Aggies program.
00:31:51But, again, as Bear said, I went back and looked at the schedule.
00:31:54I think their best win besides Notre Dame might have been Missouri,
00:31:58points-wise and team-wise, which, again, doesn't really impress me.
00:32:02And then wins over Arkansas, Auburn, and South Carolina.
00:32:05No thank you.
00:32:06Miami doesn't play in the strongest conference,
00:32:08but they have had more decisive wins.
00:32:10And they're one of the most efficient red zone offenses in the country,
00:32:14putting up points in 92% of trips to the red zone.
00:32:18They're going to win the turnover battle.
00:32:20They are great against mobile quarterbacks.
00:32:23The only mobile quarterback to really get to them was old Tommy C,
00:32:25and he couldn't get it going until the fourth quarter.
00:32:27So go ahead.
00:32:29Give me the U plus the three and a half.
00:32:31There you go.
00:32:32Go Canes.
00:32:33Up next, we're going to go ahead and go against the fighting Menses.
00:32:36I know Ole Miss went and, you know, whipped up on Tulane the first time around, 45-10.
00:32:43However, again, that outside noise with Ole Miss, how are they going to play?
00:32:47How are they going to come into this game?
00:32:49I think Tulane's really going to put their foot on the gas.
00:32:52Look, Ole Miss could put up 100 here,
00:32:54but I'm going to go ahead and take the points with Tulane
00:32:56and think they hang a little bit better.
00:32:58Now we're going to switch on to NFL, and this would be relatively quick.
00:33:03We're going to go Eagles-Commanders game.
00:33:04I'm going to take A.J. Brown, 70-plus receiving yards.
00:33:08He's done this in 10 out of his last 11 road games against NFC East opponents.
00:33:12Not just that, but the Commanders are towards the bottom in defending the pass.
00:33:17I think they're like 29th in passing touchdowns allowed.
00:33:19What a bad year, Washington.
00:33:21So A.J. Brown, 70-plus receiving yards.
00:33:23Up next, we're going to go Bills at Browns,
00:33:25and we're going to take our guy, Josh Allen, two-plus touchdowns.
00:33:28I feel like he's getting back into the rhythm.
00:33:30He's thrown three touchdowns in his last two games,
00:33:32and now they see the Browns, who've allowed 62 points in their last two games,
00:33:37and the Browns both allowed Caleb Williams and Cam Ward,
00:33:40who I think Josh Allen's just a little bit better than them.
00:33:43Just slightly.
00:33:43He's allowed them two touchdowns in both games,
00:33:46so I think Josh Allen gets in and gives us two tutties.
00:33:49And last—
00:33:50Myles Garrett probably will set the sack record on Sunday for whatever that's worth.
00:33:52Shout-out Myles Garrett.
00:33:53Shout-out Myles Garrett for whatever it's worth.
00:33:55And last but not least, we're going to go Bucs at Panthers.
00:33:57We're going to go Rico Dwaddle over—or no, I'm sorry, anytime touchdown, plus 120.
00:34:02He's recorded a touchdown in seven out of his last eight games against divisional opponents.
00:34:06The Panthers have been playing great.
00:34:09I'd even say maybe a little bit over their heads,
00:34:10but the issue with Tampa is you don't know how good they're going to be
00:34:14and on what day.
00:34:16I think it's going to be a hard-fought game, and we'll see Rico in the end zone.
00:34:20Again, plus money, plus 120.
00:34:22Those are the picks this week.
00:34:24Go get them in.
00:34:25I love you guys.
00:34:26Merry Christmas, and if this is a bad week for me, just remember,
00:34:30I gave you 9-1 over the last two.
00:34:33Yeah, never forget, she called Raiders under 7 last week.
00:34:38They scored 0.
00:34:39Speaking of fighting mintsies, how many mintsies would it take to kill a silverback gorilla?
00:34:47How many mintsies?
00:34:48Think about it over the break, guys.
00:34:49200,000.
00:34:51We got Jonathan Velma kicking off hour number 2.
00:34:53Don't go anywhere.
00:34:54More Wake Up Barstool.
00:34:56Welcome back to Hour 2.
00:35:07Oh, my God.
00:35:10He got you.
00:35:11Take it away.
00:35:12Can I say something?
00:35:13Welcome back, Hour 2.
00:35:14We are, um...
00:35:16We're waiting.
00:35:16Oh, stop.
00:35:17Do the segment.
00:35:18Come on.
00:35:18Come on, big guy.
00:35:19Do the segment.
00:35:20Mikey, do the segment.
00:35:21Try it.
00:35:22Hey, guys, welcome back.
00:35:23We were just talking about over break, how many fighting mintsies could take down a silverback gorilla.
00:35:29T-Bob, why don't we throw it over to you?
00:35:31Congratulations.
00:35:32You've just ruined the show.
00:35:34To a grinding halt.
00:35:36I love stepping on your...
00:35:37And shattered any and all momentum that we had built over a very fun hour walk.
00:35:41I would like to apologize.
00:35:43You're the Rams punter.
00:35:44To America for what Michael Koenig just did to this excellent Wake Up Barstool.
00:35:48I love how you are.
00:35:49He's the Rams punter.
00:35:50You're the Rams punter.
00:35:51And the thicker kicker wrapped up into one when he missed that kickoff.
00:35:54I love you so much.
00:35:56I got something.
00:35:57Yeah, what's up, Dana B?
00:35:58Shout out to my dad that's watching in Scottsdale, Arizona.
00:36:00Shout out Papa Beers.
00:36:01Shout out Papa Beers.
00:36:02Shout out Papa Beers.
00:36:03Shout out Papa Beers out there, huh?
00:36:03Shout out Papa Beers.
00:36:04Scottsdale, huh?
00:36:05Really?
00:36:05He got it.
00:36:06It's real early.
00:36:07Yeah.
00:36:08I don't think Arizona does time zones.
00:36:11I think you're right.
00:36:13No, they don't...
00:36:13There's something weird there.
00:36:14They don't do...
00:36:15No, they don't do daylight savings.
00:36:16Yeah.
00:36:17They do time zones, but not daylight savings.
00:36:19Yeah, so basically you're not doing time zones at that point.
00:36:21Like, are they...
00:36:22What time is it there, then?
00:36:23There's still mountain time.
00:36:24I think it's...
00:36:25Oh, so they're only one hour behind right now.
00:36:27I think it's central?
00:36:28I don't know.
00:36:28I think it's...
00:36:29Pretty sure it's mountain time, guys.
00:36:31No, I think it is mountain time, but I think post not doing daylight savings,
00:36:35that now they would be on...
00:36:37No, I have no idea.
00:36:38Who knows?
00:36:38All right.
00:36:39Who cares?
00:36:39We're not geography, guys.
00:36:40All right.
00:36:41It's much more important now to talk to this man, one of my favorite players ever,
00:36:45that is Jonathan Vilma.
00:36:48Vilma, thank you so much for joining us this morning, man.
00:36:51So, my name's T-Bob Hebert.
00:36:54My father's Bobby over there at WWL.
00:36:58Megan's from New Orleans as well.
00:37:00We're big Saints fans.
00:37:01Thank you, Jonathan.
00:37:03Thank you for everything you did, bringing the Super Bowl to the city of New Orleans,
00:37:07post-Katrina, bringing the city back, bringing the state back.
00:37:10Thank you so much, man.
00:37:11It's great to get to talk to you this morning.
00:37:14Anytime.
00:37:14And by the way, Bobby Hebert, man, he's awesome.
00:37:16So, he was there when I was playing.
00:37:19Tell him hi for me.
00:37:20Haven't seen him in a little bit, but love connecting with Bobby.
00:37:23Yeah, and look, you've done an incredible job, obviously, post-career, transitioning to the booth.
00:37:28You're excellent on the call.
00:37:30I want to start with last night's game, and I want to ask some of the questions that we asked each other,
00:37:36but we're laymen, right?
00:37:37I want to ask an expert here.
00:37:39What was your biggest takeaway from last night in terms of Sam Darnold and the Seahawks as a whole?
00:37:46Do you now trust Sam Darnold going into these playoffs more than you did before last night?
00:37:53I do, and I'll tell you a story about Sam Darnold where I trusted him even when he was with the Vikings.
00:37:59When he went and was the backup for the San Francisco 49ers, Sam Darnold said he learned a lot from Brock Purdy.
00:38:07One of the things he learned was that he just has to get the ball out and get in rhythm.
00:38:12And once I heard that from a guy that has a big arm, we know he likes to throw it, sling it everywhere,
00:38:17I said, okay, he's kind of figured it out, right?
00:38:20Because I always looked at the great quarterbacks, Tom Brady, Drew Brees when I played with him.
00:38:25These guys always threw the ball out, checked down if the first read wasn't there.
00:38:30Maybe they go to the second read, maybe the third, but they weren't going to waste time.
00:38:33They're going to get the ball out because being in rhythm was more important than hitting that home run.
00:38:38And so when I heard him tell me that last year when he was with the Vikings, I said, okay, he's got it figured out.
00:38:45Then he lights it up with the Vikings, goes over to Seattle, and has been absolutely crushing it, right?
00:38:51So I've always been a fan of Sam Darnold ever since that interview I had with him, and he called that.
00:38:57He played a great game against the Giants that year, and since then, I knew he was going to be good.
00:39:02So I sometimes think he gets undue criticism because he has two interceptions.
00:39:08Yeah, it's against one of the best defenses in the NFL, right?
00:39:12Or when he would get pressure and people were like, oh, he's getting pressure, and he's going back to his old ways.
00:39:17Yeah, that's because any quarterback that gets pressured goes back to their old ways, right?
00:39:21So I look at a guy that's going to be really, really good.
00:39:25So, yes, I have faith in him.
00:39:27I've had faith in him and excited to see him and the Rams, to be quite honest, in the playoffs this year.
00:39:34Dude, so that's where I was going to kind of go next, looking from a team perspective,
00:39:37because something that we highlighted in the first segment is football's a team game,
00:39:41and often we just reduce it to quarterback, right?
00:39:44But, like, Rashid, Shahid, and the special teams had to step up.
00:39:47The defense bows up at the end of the game when it matters most.
00:39:50And then when the defense fails, the offense comes through.
00:39:52With that in mind, are the Seahawks now your NFC favorite to make the Super Bowl?
00:40:00No.
00:40:01Rams are still my favorite to make it to the Super Bowl.
00:40:05The Rams' defense, the Rams' run game, and everyone will say, well, look what happened yesterday.
00:40:09Look, that is one game.
00:40:11If you play five times, the Rams are going to win three of those games.
00:40:16Seattle will win two of those games.
00:40:18So, Rams are still my team to make it to the Super Bowl.
00:40:21They have the defense.
00:40:22They have the players.
00:40:23Matthew Stafford is going to be my MVP this year.
00:40:27So, I see them looking at this, some of those miscues, similar to when they played the Panthers.
00:40:31They had turnovers.
00:40:32They lost that game.
00:40:33They don't have turnovers.
00:40:34They don't have miscues.
00:40:36They're going to go on and make it to the Super Bowl.
00:40:38I got a question here, just totally about a team that is not in the playoff hunt, but
00:40:43it is that you're New Orleans Saints, and I want to see what you are seeing out of Tyler
00:40:47Shuck, right?
00:40:47Yeah!
00:40:48Yeah!
00:40:48Good job, Daniel!
00:40:49We got a big Saints fan here.
00:40:50It wasn't me!
00:40:51I'm going to be honest with you.
00:40:52When they drafted him, I was a little bit like, ah, I don't know, he's a little bit older.
00:40:57But this dude, he can run.
00:40:59He can sling it.
00:41:00He looks solid, in these last couple weeks especially.
00:41:03So, out of this rookie, what are you seeing, Jonathan?
00:41:06A lot.
00:41:07Before I talk about his ability, I'm going to talk about him, his mentality.
00:41:12He is, as you mentioned, older, but he's been through the ringer, right?
00:41:17He's been on three, four different college teams, had to battle every time he was at a
00:41:22different place.
00:41:23They would tell him he's going to be the starter.
00:41:25Then he gets there.
00:41:26He's not the starter necessarily.
00:41:28He had to earn the starting spot.
00:41:29And all he did was work.
00:41:31He just kept working.
00:41:32He was like, I'll just keep doing it.
00:41:33I'll keep doing my thing.
00:41:34And then I'll earn the starting spot.
00:41:36So, now he ends up at Louisville.
00:41:38And everyone's looking like, oh, man, who's this guy that can sling the ball everywhere?
00:41:43What they forgot was, this is a guy that had been to two other, three other college teams,
00:41:47and he had to work for it.
00:41:49So, now his mindset, to be very frank, is like, F it, right?
00:41:52I don't care.
00:41:54None of this is too big for me anymore because I've had to go through a ringer to get to
00:41:58where I am.
00:41:59So, he gets drafted by the Saints.
00:42:01Again, not starting.
00:42:03Spencer Rattler's a starter.
00:42:05And then he sits there.
00:42:06He just keeps learning and growing and learning and growing.
00:42:09So, when I spoke with him when he was making his first start, he's like, yeah, this is
00:42:13pretty cool.
00:42:14It wasn't like, oh, my God, I'm making my first start.
00:42:16He's like, yeah, I've been here before, right?
00:42:18I had to earn a starting spot back in college, and then from there, I kind of showed him
00:42:23what I can do.
00:42:24So, what he has done is exactly what I thought he would do.
00:42:28He already had an arm.
00:42:30He's smart.
00:42:31He has the demeanor and the mindset to be able to just kind of take things as they go.
00:42:36And with that, he, by the way, has the best record of any rookie QB right now.
00:42:41He's 3-3 as a starter.
00:42:43So, I think the sky's the limit for him, man.
00:42:45I'm very happy for him.
00:42:46Excited to see him performing well.
00:42:48And Kellen Moore has really got him going in the right trajectory.
00:42:52So, I think he's going to be a really good quarterback for the Saints.
00:42:55I want to put my hand up.
00:42:57I was a doubter.
00:42:58Yeah, so was I, dude.
00:42:59So was I.
00:42:59But, again, meritocracy boys, right?
00:43:01That's right.
00:43:02That's the great part about football.
00:43:03You control how we talk about you.
00:43:05That's right.
00:43:05Speaking of which, the Chicago Bears, what a season.
00:43:09I mean, 0-2 to start.
00:43:11Bears fans are just down, bad.
00:43:13And all of a sudden, Ben Johnson, this team gets hot.
00:43:16And, yeah, they're beating bad teams.
00:43:17Then they started beating some good teams.
00:43:19Now they look like a team that fully believes in themselves.
00:43:21And they're going against a Packer team that, for a long time, I had as a favorite.
00:43:25But these injuries, man, these injuries really upset the apple cart for the Packers.
00:43:30When you look at this weekend's game in Chicago, how are you scoring this one?
00:43:33Oh, I'm scoring this one, Chicago over Green Bay in a close one.
00:43:40I'm taking a 23-20 type game.
00:43:45I'm looking at Chicago.
00:43:47We're talking about, by the way, I called that beatdown when Detroit just ran it up on 55-1-2.
00:43:55Thought that they had no chance, right?
00:43:56But Ben Johnson, phenomenal coach.
00:43:59Dennis Allen, phenomenal coach.
00:44:01Two things that they've done really well, which has always fared well for any team, is they run the ball well.
00:44:08And they take the ball at an alarming rate.
00:44:10They take the ball away at an alarming rate.
00:44:12So, you know, with Dennis Allen, he's always been a tremendous defensive coordinator.
00:44:17And I knew it was a matter of time before the guys just understood what is it that he wants from them.
00:44:22Now they understand.
00:44:23They know what he wants from them.
00:44:24And they've been riding that and the takeaways for this, what, seven, eight-game win streak, whatever it was that they had.
00:44:30And then Ben Johnson in this run game, which is exactly what he did in Detroit, right?
00:44:35Jared Goff, Armand Ross St. Brown, Sam Lepora, all these guys, they got a bunch of credit.
00:44:40Jameer Gibbs, right?
00:44:41But it was really the run game.
00:44:43That's what set Detroit apart.
00:44:45And now the Bears are doing the exact same thing.
00:44:48So we talk about Caleb as we should.
00:44:51Caleb does a nice job.
00:44:52But you've got to look at DeAndre Swift.
00:44:55And they changed four of the five-o-linemen from last year.
00:44:58They kept Darnell Wright.
00:44:59That's the only guy they kept.
00:45:00And they can run the ball.
00:45:02It was, like, embarrassing the way that they beat down some of these teams in the run game.
00:45:06So I'm looking at them just, frankly, wearing down a Green Bay Packers defense.
00:45:11They run the ball at will.
00:45:12And then they're going to take the ball away from Jordan Love.
00:45:15Jordan Love, he is a gunslinger.
00:45:17He reminds me of Aaron Rodgers, of Brett Favre.
00:45:20He can give you a three-touchdown game.
00:45:21He can give you a three-interception game, right?
00:45:23And so I'm looking at the turnovers in the run game being the difference again.
00:45:28And then the Bears win a close one.
00:45:30Look, Jonathan Villeman, one of the best defensive players, multi-pro bowler, great college NFL, everything.
00:45:37You know defensive football as good as anyone on the planet.
00:45:41And right now I look around and the great defenses seem to be kind of ruling the NFL meta right now.
00:45:49And there's a few that I want to ask you about.
00:45:51Obviously the Broncos, what they've been able to do to create all their wins.
00:45:56There's the Texans, whose pass rush looks as scary as anybody.
00:46:01Now they're feeling like a Super Bowl contender.
00:46:03And then the team that we saw last night, maybe the Seahawks and the Rams by extension as well.
00:46:07When you look at all these defenses, which unit to you is the most impressive?
00:46:12Oh, man.
00:46:14That's a tough one.
00:46:16That's a loaded question.
00:46:18That's a loaded question.
00:46:19Oh, man.
00:46:20That's a tough one.
00:46:22I'm going to take Denver Broncos defense.
00:46:28Okay.
00:46:28Denver Broncos defense because of one guy, Patrick Sertain Jr.
00:46:35I'm taking him.
00:46:36And he is, I mean, it gets no better.
00:46:40Coming from a linebacker, it gets no better than knowing that you have one guy out there that you just don't have to worry about.
00:46:47Right.
00:46:48It's done.
00:46:49That side, done.
00:46:51Right.
00:46:51Left side, right side, wherever he wants to line up, done.
00:46:54So now everybody else is going to do what?
00:46:57We're going to cheat.
00:46:58Right.
00:46:58We don't need to help Sertain.
00:46:59Right.
00:47:00So we're going to cheat and we're going to cover everybody else with all the other guys and including the pass rush.
00:47:06So they got four guys up front.
00:47:09It looks like they're rushing six guys at times.
00:47:11Right.
00:47:12Because there's this so athletic.
00:47:14They're so quick to get to the quarterback.
00:47:16So I'm watching this defensive line feasting.
00:47:20And it's really because of a guy named Patrick Sertain who came back that they know they don't have to worry about anything going on over there.
00:47:27Safety's cheat.
00:47:28They rotate coverage.
00:47:29Corners get other help on the other side, back on the other side.
00:47:32And then you got a quarterback sitting there like, well, my first option is done.
00:47:36Let me try to get you, right, my second and third option.
00:47:41And it's like, they're hitting all over the face.
00:47:45Right.
00:47:45So, you know, I look at that and I'm saying, how do you beat that?
00:47:49Right.
00:47:49How do you beat a guy where it doesn't matter the coverage?
00:47:53You can call cover three, cover one, press man, off man.
00:47:56It doesn't matter.
00:47:57Sertain is the guy.
00:47:58He's going to lock that down.
00:47:59So I'm going with him because all the defenses are really good.
00:48:03You mentioned T-Bob, but that guy is something special, man.
00:48:06You talk about like Darrell Reeves, generational talent special.
00:48:10Yeah.
00:48:10Yeah.
00:48:10I mean, and it's such a good point.
00:48:12Like, it's the resources that he frees up to use in other areas.
00:48:16I want to ask you about the Broncos head coach because obviously you know him very well.
00:48:20I hate that guy.
00:48:21I hate that guy.
00:48:21Yeah.
00:48:21Yeah.
00:48:22Exactly right.
00:48:23Of course, Sean Payton, former great Saints coach, led us to the golden era of Saints football.
00:48:28You were one of the captains, leaders of the golden era of Saints football.
00:48:32What is it about Sean Payton that has made him stand the test of time?
00:48:37And in a league where somebody is always looking to replace you, there's always somebody younger,
00:48:42better, smarter, more modern.
00:48:44How has Sean Payton managed to maintain this level of success and take it to Denver with him?
00:48:49As smart as Sean Payton is, as an offensive guru, we've all come to know, Sean doesn't get enough credit for how well he motivates guys,
00:49:03how well he has a pulse on the team, and how well he knows how to manage everyone's expectations.
00:49:10And what I mean by that, he would come in, let's say we had a tough loss versus Atlanta.
00:49:17I'm obviously making it up.
00:49:18Didn't lose to them.
00:49:23Let's say we had a tough loss against Atlanta.
00:49:25Well, usually coaches would come in and now it's like, oh, we got to get everything corrected.
00:49:30And they come in angry and you expect like a hard practice, et cetera.
00:49:33And it really wouldn't be that.
00:49:35It would be, all right, let's get the corrections.
00:49:37Maybe we need to rest the players a little bit this week.
00:49:40Maybe we need to pull back on the reps.
00:49:42Maybe we need to get them just more focused mentally and then go from there and then make sure that we're fresh and we're ready to go come that next week, Sunday.
00:49:52And so things like that you appreciate as a player because the natural response is when you lose, a head coach is going to be tough on you.
00:50:00Well, that wasn't Sean every time.
00:50:02Sean always had a good pulse on the team, always understood where we are, how we play, what were the reasons we lost.
00:50:10And it was not about the X's and O's, man.
00:50:13Sean would tell us so many times the more that he, the longer he's coached, the more that he's been in this game, the more he realizes it's about the players.
00:50:21And so he looks really good calling a slant play when Drew Brees is throwing to Marcus Colson, right?
00:50:26That's easy.
00:50:27Of course, yeah, call a slant, right?
00:50:29It's really easy to call a seam route when Drew Brees is throwing to Jimmy Graham, right?
00:50:33It's not about Sean Payton.
00:50:34It was about Sean making sure the players that he had are getting maximized.
00:50:39And so I always appreciated the way that he was about, the way that he was about his business, about making sure that he knew exactly what the team wanted.
00:50:49He was effective as a communicator, very, very good communicator, had a pulse on the team.
00:50:54And then, of course, the X's and O's, you know, he's second to none.
00:50:58But it was him as a coach knowing his whole team, which is what he's done with Denver, and he's got them rolling right now.
00:51:05Jonathan, pivoting to the college scene, college football playoff, your Miami Hurricanes are heading to College Station.
00:51:12Let's go.
00:51:12The U is back.
00:51:13In your opinion, what does Miami have to do, keys to victory, to get that win over A&M?
00:51:20All right.
00:51:20First, don't turn the ball over.
00:51:21Let's just start there.
00:51:23The two games that Miami lost, we had turnovers.
00:51:26So we don't turn the ball over.
00:51:28Once we do that, defense is going to play lights out.
00:51:32They got some speed, right, at the quarterback and receiver spots.
00:51:35That's fine, right?
00:51:36We got speed, too.
00:51:37We have a wide receiver in Malachi Toney.
00:51:41He's done as good as any receiver.
00:51:43Forget any freshman receiver.
00:51:44Any receiver in college football right now.
00:51:47So what I'm looking for is the biggest thing what I'm looking for is a team that doesn't make the scenario bigger than what it is.
00:51:57Texas A&M just lost to Texas.
00:51:59Texas A&M is a good team.
00:52:01Texas A&M is not a great team.
00:52:04Miami, a really good team.
00:52:05You have Miami ascending right now.
00:52:08Texas A&M, I don't know where they are.
00:52:09So you go out from Miami and you just play ball.
00:52:13I don't have to do anything more than what I've been doing since the, since what, the SMU game, right?
00:52:19Ever since then, Miami has been ascending this way.
00:52:22Defense has been lights out.
00:52:24Beck has been playing well.
00:52:25I already mentioned Malachi Toney.
00:52:27The run game is there.
00:52:28So I'm looking at a back and forth game where, all right, cool.
00:52:32Reed goes and he gets a big run.
00:52:34So what?
00:52:35They make a big play.
00:52:37So what?
00:52:38Right?
00:52:39That's not going to be the reason that they win, right?
00:52:41The reason that Miami wins is because we don't turn the ball over.
00:52:44We run in.
00:52:44We play good defense.
00:52:45If Texas A&M wins, it's because they did take the ball away and they had more explosive plays than Miami.
00:52:51So I'm looking at Miami to go out there and just frankly take it to them, right?
00:52:56So I can give you all the little analytical stuff.
00:52:58Just, man, take it to them, bro.
00:53:00Fire me up.
00:53:01Well, okay, and I want to ask you about this.
00:53:04Mikey, what year were you born?
00:53:062000.
00:53:07Okay.
00:53:07So this man was born in 2000, Jonathan.
00:53:10Okay.
00:53:10Do you know about the 2001 Miami Hurricanes?
00:53:13I mean, yeah.
00:53:14Maybe the greatest.
00:53:14Yes, the greatest college football team in college football history.
00:53:20I mean, NFL guys, great NFL guys, every level of the defense, every level of the offense, both sides of the ball.
00:53:26They kicked everybody's ass that season.
00:53:28What's it been like?
00:53:29Has the 2001 boys been talking about the U being back?
00:53:33Is the group text popping off right now?
00:53:35Not yet.
00:53:36Not yet.
00:53:37Not yet.
00:53:37Wow.
00:53:38So here, well, here's why.
00:53:40Think about it, T-Bot.
00:53:41With my four years there, I lost four games total.
00:53:45I played in every.
00:53:48That is incredible.
00:53:50I lost four games total.
00:53:52I played in every BCS bowl game there was.
00:53:55Rose Bowl, Fiesta, Orange, Sugar.
00:53:57When we say we're back, we expect titles.
00:54:02That's when we're back, right?
00:54:03We're back when we get titles.
00:54:06We were back then to Big E's.
00:54:07Big E's champions every year.
00:54:09That wasn't even like a goal.
00:54:10The goal was to end up Maddie, right?
00:54:12So we just expected we were going to get that.
00:54:15So right now, we're almost there.
00:54:17We're on the cusp.
00:54:19We're on the cusp of being back.
00:54:20And we start winning, start Saturday against Texas A&M.
00:54:24And then we got a payback for Ohio State.
00:54:27You know, we can get back very quickly with a couple wins here.
00:54:32There you go.
00:54:33I lost 35 games in my career at Indiana.
00:54:36Okay, but credit to Mikey Jonathan.
00:54:39He was the starting center on last year's Indiana team.
00:54:42So he was a part of starting the Cignetti run.
00:54:46Ended on a good note.
00:54:46I mean, but you're a glutton for pain, man.
00:54:50Yeah.
00:54:52Oh, man.
00:54:54Oh, yeah.
00:54:56All right, Fox Sports, Jonathan Philby.
00:54:57You catch him in the booth every Sunday.
00:54:59Bro, thank you so much.
00:55:00Cannot thank you enough again for everything you did for New Orleans
00:55:02and everything you continue to do.
00:55:04Have a great day, man.
00:55:06I appreciate you guys.
00:55:07Appreciate it.
00:55:07Go Canes.
00:55:08Let's go, baby.
00:55:09You.
00:55:10Called you a glutton.
00:55:11All right, coming up next here on Wake Up Barstool.
00:55:14If K-Dick doesn't bring the show to another grinding home,
00:55:17it's time for a little smash or pass.
00:55:20Empty office today, guys.
00:55:21What happened?
00:55:22Was there a holiday party yesterday or something?
00:55:26What's up, guys?
00:55:27Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool.
00:55:28It's time.
00:55:28The Christmas season's upon us.
00:55:30What is The Office's favorite Christmas movie?
00:55:33Let's find out.
00:55:34All right, chaps.
00:55:34What's your favorite Christmas movie ever and why?
00:55:36Easily Home Alone 2.
00:55:37I'm wearing the wet bandit shirt right now, even though that's a shout-out from Home Alone 1.
00:55:43It's simply because of the brick scene.
00:55:45I think the brick scene where they're throwing it down and he goes,
00:55:49Howie!
00:55:50I think it's one of the funniest moments in any movie, and it's a family classic.
00:55:54Every year we put it on, we all laugh.
00:55:57White Sox Dave, what's your favorite Christmas movie and why?
00:55:59Kids movie, Home Alone 1.
00:56:01Okay.
00:56:02Adult movie, Bad Santa, obviously.
00:56:04Oh, hell yeah, dude.
00:56:05It's, I think, just one of the all-time great comedies, let alone Christmas comedies.
00:56:09But easy, easy two for me.
00:56:11Probably Final Destination.
00:56:13Any of them, it really gets me in the Christmas spirit.
00:56:16That's, that's even darker than Krampus.
00:56:19I don't know if this is a Christmas movie, per se.
00:56:21I think it is, because it's set in the snow.
00:56:23It's a movie called Fluke.
00:56:25A lot of people probably haven't seen it.
00:56:27It's about a dad passing away and coming back as a family dog.
00:56:31And this dog goes in the closet and, like, puts on the shoes and the hat,
00:56:35trying to tell the kids and the mom that it's him.
00:56:37And I cry and I cry.
00:56:39We are here with our wonderful love director, Steph.
00:56:41All right, Steph, what is your favorite Christmas movie and why?
00:56:44I love A Year Without a Santa Claus.
00:56:45I love everything, like the song, that's the one where Santa gets sick.
00:56:49And so Mrs. Claus has to take over.
00:56:51I've actually never seen A Year Without a Santa Claus.
00:56:54That's bad, I know, I know.
00:56:56It's in the same vein as, like, the rank, it's another rank and a bass.
00:56:59Maresh, what's your favorite Christmas movie ever and why?
00:57:01Oh, Home Alone.
00:57:02Home Alone 1.
00:57:04I think it's better than Lost in New York.
00:57:06Do you know who did the music for Home Alone?
00:57:08It's the guy who does Harry Potter, right?
00:57:11Yeah.
00:57:11Is it Hans?
00:57:13No, it's not Hans.
00:57:14No, Chris Columbus did them both, right?
00:57:17Chris Columbus did it, who also did?
00:57:19Harry Potter.
00:57:19There you go.
00:57:20That's what I know.
00:57:20There you have it, guys.
00:57:21A lot of great answers about your favorite movies around the Chicago office, but no,
00:57:25It's a Wonderful Life.
00:57:27It's a Wonderful Life is not just the greatest Christmas movie ever, it's maybe the best movie ever.
00:57:33No man can be considered poor who has friends.
00:57:37What, why are you shaking your head at It's a Wonderful Life?
00:57:38Megan, you answered fluke.
00:57:40Yeah, I know.
00:57:41Shut up.
00:57:42Maybe I don't love Christmas movies, but I'm not going to sit there and watch It's a Wonderful Life.
00:57:47It just is, it's boring.
00:57:49No, it's not.
00:57:49Have you ever seen it?
00:57:51Yes, I have.
00:57:51You've seen it.
00:57:53I've never watched like Jim Carrey's version of The Grinch.
00:57:55Well, Jim Carrey's version of The Grinch is great.
00:57:57It's funny.
00:57:58But you watched It's a Wonderful Life and thought it was boring?
00:58:01Yeah, it just didn't do it for me.
00:58:04That's, that's absolutely insane.
00:58:05Whatever.
00:58:06But, but again, your opinion means nothing.
00:58:07You answered fluke.
00:58:08Yeah, look, again, I'm not even a critic.
00:58:10Nobody, nobody, I don't even know what you're talking about.
00:58:12Well, one, you never asked me those questions.
00:58:14You said I'm not allowed to be in those videos.
00:58:16So whenever you came up to me, I was very caught off guard.
00:58:18And I was in the middle of doing these pics for The Money Corner.
00:58:21And you stuck a mic on her face and you couldn't see her face.
00:58:24Yeah, you completely, you completely just covered the, the, the only thing I got, man.
00:58:28Oh yeah, sorry guys, I didn't want to objectify Megan and just use her looks for views, okay?
00:58:33My bad that I wanted her content to stay on a tone to see and I wanted to promote her brain.
00:58:37You let Annika, like, just talk, so are you saying she doesn't have another face?
00:58:40Annika gave the craziest answer ever in Final Destination.
00:58:44That is just incredibly dark.
00:58:46Home Alone 1, dude.
00:58:47Yeah, okay, favorite Christmas movie, boys.
00:58:49What about you, Jim?
00:58:50You guys are gonna, you guys are gonna be mad at me.
00:58:52I'm not like a huge Christmas movie guy.
00:58:55I don't have an answer.
00:58:56Shame, shame, shame.
00:58:57I do like Home Alone, Home Alone 2.
00:58:59What, are you like, fluke?
00:59:00The Dove Lady in Home Alone 2 always gets me.
00:59:03The Pigeon Lady, not the Dove Lady.
00:59:05I would say, I'd probably just Elf.
00:59:07Elf's awesome.
00:59:08Elf's probably my answer.
00:59:09The Grinch, she's cool.
00:59:10I think Jim Carrey Grinch is unbelievable, too.
00:59:13So good.
00:59:13Why Home Alone 1?
00:59:15I just, it's so nostalgic.
00:59:17I just love it.
00:59:18I love it so much.
00:59:19Spike.
00:59:20Yeah.
00:59:20With a tarantula.
00:59:21Oh, dude.
00:59:22I love it.
00:59:22And my buddy, without doxing him, my buddy lives in the same neighborhood as the house.
00:59:27Wow.
00:59:27Wait, Dana, what were you going to say a second ago?
00:59:29You check what out?
00:59:30I'll check out It's a Wonderful Life.
00:59:31I'm telling you, brother.
00:59:32I'll check it out.
00:59:33Not only is it cool, because it's like time travel at this point, because it gives you like,
00:59:37you know, it's a movie filmed in the 40s that has scenes in the 20s, 30s, and 40s.
00:59:42So it's crazy to see it like in HD here, damn near 100 years later.
00:59:46But it is a, when you talk about something timeless.
00:59:49Yeah.
00:59:50Timeless.
00:59:50Okay.
00:59:51Tear jerker.
00:59:51Awesome.
00:59:52I'll check it out.
00:59:53One of my favorite scenes is when Jim Carrey Grinch, when he's the baby Grinch, and he's
00:59:58like sitting in class, and he's like, he cracks me up every time.
01:00:04Wait, what's my guy?
01:00:05When he's the baby Grinch.
01:00:06Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:00:07But just like, just like.
01:00:08Wasn't he like lighting on fire or something?
01:00:10Well, yeah, he gets mad, and he, because he shaves.
01:00:12And then the girl.
01:00:13Look at that hack job.
01:00:14And then he throws the tree.
01:00:15I think the.
01:00:16I hate Christmas.
01:00:17It's so sad.
01:00:18But then there's the girl, the little girl that like, isn't.
01:00:21Yeah.
01:00:22Martha Mayhew.
01:00:23Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:00:24Yeah, Martha Mayhew.
01:00:25Yeah, Martha Mayhew.
01:00:25She's the, she's, she gets engaged to the mayor, and then, of course.
01:00:29She still wants to Grinch.
01:00:30Yeah.
01:00:31Also, the best part is the part that people don't realize in the beginning, they're having a key party.
01:00:35They are having a key party.
01:00:38Very scandalous.
01:00:39Very.
01:00:39I don't even think these boys know about a key party.
01:00:41I don't know.
01:00:42Maybe if they watch It's a Wonderful Life, they can transport and remember what it was about.
01:00:46Also, yeah, no Christmas vacation around the office yesterday.
01:00:49That was a bit shocking to me.
01:00:50Oh, that's good.
01:00:51All right, it's time for another smash or pass.
01:00:55Let's see what we got on the docket this weekend for the big boy.
01:00:59Smash.
01:01:00I mean.
01:01:00Smash.
01:01:01Smash.
01:01:02Triple smash.
01:01:03Bathe in it.
01:01:04Dana, have you tried it?
01:01:05I mean, I've had the, the, the, like, dollar ramens.
01:01:09Instant ramen, yeah.
01:01:10You've had instant ramen, but not like a real bowl of ramen?
01:01:12Yeah, yeah, no, I haven't had a real sit-down.
01:01:13Oh, brother.
01:01:13It's way better.
01:01:14Brother, a real bowl of ramen is one of life's great treats.
01:01:17I know for a fact I would love this.
01:01:20I mean, look at it.
01:01:21And now, it'll fill you up.
01:01:22I'm the biggest noodles guy you'll ever meet.
01:01:24I love noodles.
01:01:24If you like noodles, you've got to get some real ramen, brother.
01:01:28Don't get me talking or I'm going to swear again by accident.
01:01:31I think I like, is it like black garlic kontaksu or something?
01:01:34Yeah, something.
01:01:35Why am I blanking on the word?
01:01:37But yeah, it's just, it's amazing.
01:01:39Tonkatsu, thank you.
01:01:41You got the egg.
01:01:42Maybe you get pork, whatever.
01:01:43Is this like a standard, is it always an egg and a meat or is it, we can throw in whatever?
01:01:49You can throw in more.
01:01:50There's a lot of options, but yes, I normally get extra egg.
01:01:53I normally get extra boiled egg.
01:01:54Is it egg and pork or is it egg and...
01:01:56I think that is pork.
01:01:57Yeah, you can do shrimp, you can do whatever.
01:01:59You choose the meat.
01:01:59You choose the meat.
01:02:00Okay.
01:02:01Yeah, yeah.
01:02:01It's like a chipotle of soup.
01:02:03Yes, exactly.
01:02:04That do the running eggs too.
01:02:06Yeah, they do the jammy boiled eggs.
01:02:08So good, dude.
01:02:09I love an egg that's jammy.
01:02:10All right, we're all smashing ramen.
01:02:12What do we got next?
01:02:14Oh, yeah, dude.
01:02:17I'm going to have to pass.
01:02:19I don't like peanuts and stuff like that.
01:02:21Oh, the peanut sauce is so good.
01:02:23I'm just not a fan.
01:02:23I'm sorry.
01:02:24I might get that for lunch.
01:02:26I might get that for lunch.
01:02:28So good.
01:02:29The only thing that can make that better is to have some raisins in it, right?
01:02:32What?
01:02:33No, I'm just kidding.
01:02:34But I love raisins.
01:02:35I love raisins.
01:02:35All right, what do we got next?
01:02:37What?
01:02:39Oh, smash.
01:02:40Tamales?
01:02:41Oh, smash.
01:02:41If you asked me what that was,
01:02:43I wouldn't know.
01:02:44You have to unwrap it.
01:02:45I'd be stuck on this earth for the rest of my life not being able to tell you what that is.
01:02:49Have you ever had a good tamale, a real tamale, a homemade tamale?
01:02:52Clearly not.
01:02:53No.
01:02:53I would think that was corn.
01:02:55Brother.
01:02:55Well, it is.
01:02:56It is.
01:02:56It's a husk.
01:02:57So it's wrapped in a husk and corn, but then also like the breading around the tamale, that
01:03:02is corn-based.
01:03:04Hand up.
01:03:05The first time I tried one, I tried to eat the husk.
01:03:08Oh, man.
01:03:09That was probably terrible.
01:03:10It was the worst experience I've ever had food life.
01:03:11You're like, why do people like this so much?
01:03:13I've never had it.
01:03:14No.
01:03:14What does it taste like?
01:03:15You know, tamales are a Mexican Christmas delicacy.
01:03:18I did not know that.
01:03:19Yes.
01:03:20I do know also they've got Native American roots, because in Natchitoches, Louisiana,
01:03:25small north Louisiana, know for their tamales.
01:03:27I'm going to give a massive shout out.
01:03:29Manny, Louisiana.
01:03:30Shout out Bub T's.
01:03:32Bub T's tamales.
01:03:33They've been making them for damn near 100 years.
01:03:36The best tamales in the world.
01:03:38The only thing I know about tamales is when people say, hot tamale.
01:03:41Hot tamale.
01:03:42So you can choose.
01:03:43It's another one where there's pork, there's chicken.
01:03:46Oh, there's meat inside.
01:03:47Different kinds.
01:03:47Oh, yeah.
01:03:48Oh, yeah.
01:03:49Is it a bean base?
01:03:50There's, you know, to be honest, I'm not entirely sure everything that's in there.
01:03:55You got some veggies.
01:03:55They're just amazing.
01:03:57They're just amazing.
01:03:57Well, that's like the corn.
01:03:58Yeah, I think it's a corn-based, like, it's meal together.
01:04:01Kind of like a cornbread.
01:04:02Yeah, it's kind of like a cornbread.
01:04:03Cornbread outside.
01:04:04I would enjoy this.
01:04:05You would love it.
01:04:07Quadruple smash.
01:04:08Quintuple smash, even.
01:04:10Oh!
01:04:14I love me, corned beef.
01:04:17Corned beef hash?
01:04:18Woo!
01:04:19Corned beef was never really like a staple down south.
01:04:21Is this a Pittsburgh thing, one?
01:04:24Yes, very much.
01:04:26There's a place, Permanee Brothers, where they put the fries and the coleslaw.
01:04:29Oh.
01:04:29And you get corned beef.
01:04:31Oh, yeah.
01:04:31But a good corned beef hash, bro?
01:04:34Yes.
01:04:35Oh, my God.
01:04:36Another one, dude.
01:04:37The crispy corn, the crispy corned beef.
01:04:40See, my parents are both from this area, so I grew up eating a lot of, like, Northwestern,
01:04:45or, like, Midwestern foods.
01:04:46Yeah.
01:04:46So, my mom would make this corned beef cabbage, like, it was, oh, my God, it was heavenly.
01:04:53It just melts in your mouth.
01:04:54Yeah.
01:04:55It's amazing.
01:04:55Is this, this episode should be called Smash or Smash, because I love everything that's
01:05:00coming from the oven.
01:05:00I gotta, I go into my list right now, and I gotta add it on.
01:05:03Add corned beef, add tamales, add a real bowl of ramen.
01:05:06I love a Reuben.
01:05:07I've never had a Reuben.
01:05:08Oh, put that down.
01:05:09Put a good marble try.
01:05:11Put corned beef and tamales.
01:05:12Thousand Island on the Rye bread with the Swiss cheese.
01:05:16I got more videos to make.
01:05:17All right, what do we got next?
01:05:18Woo.
01:05:20Oh, yes.
01:05:21Yes.
01:05:22Yep.
01:05:22What are these, like, latkes?
01:05:23Dude, yes.
01:05:24Sour cream on top of that?
01:05:26I've never had, I've never had latkes.
01:05:27Dude, you could put anything on these, and they would be good.
01:05:30Anything, like, anything.
01:05:31Yeah, when I was a kid, I was extremely picky, and I would, like, eat stuff, and, like, I would
01:05:35literally put it in my napkin and hope my parents didn't see and throw it out.
01:05:38Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:05:39This is one of the few meals I would crush.
01:05:41Okay, so, like, we know you love salami sandwiches.
01:05:43You're certified.
01:05:44But then we also love potato pancakes.
01:05:46Potato pancakes, dude.
01:05:47Oh, yeah.
01:05:47This is, I think this is one of the best Smasher passes we've had.
01:05:50You know what?
01:05:50I've loved every single week.
01:05:51You know what my family did?
01:05:53No.
01:05:53Dip it in applesauce.
01:05:54Yes.
01:05:55Sounds great.
01:05:55I love that.
01:05:56That, too.
01:05:57That's a Jewish thing, I believe, right?
01:05:59I think so, yeah.
01:05:59The applesauce?
01:06:00Dip it in applesauce.
01:06:01Happy Hanukkah, guys.
01:06:02Day six.
01:06:03Hope everybody's enjoying themselves.
01:06:04Yep, yep.
01:06:05All right, what do we got next?
01:06:06Mm-mm.
01:06:07Ah.
01:06:08Yes.
01:06:08Baklava.
01:06:09This is a Greek thing, right?
01:06:10Is this a Greek thing?
01:06:11Yeah, it's so good.
01:06:12It's, like, layers of pastry with, like, pistachios and honey.
01:06:17It's the best crunch, and it's not too sweet.
01:06:20Oh, it's so good.
01:06:21Is this a dessert of sorts?
01:06:24Yes.
01:06:24Yes, it's a pastry-ish.
01:06:26A pastry-ish sweet dessert.
01:06:27Pastry.
01:06:28A pastry-ish.
01:06:28I'm surprised you haven't had it.
01:06:30It's a pastry-ish deli.
01:06:31So pistachios on their own.
01:06:33Pistachios on their own are a top three, maybe top two nut.
01:06:38But any time the confectioners, your pastry chefs, get their hands in pistachios,
01:06:45and they make, like, a cream out of it.
01:06:47Oh, my God.
01:06:47Is cashew one?
01:06:48Cashew's one.
01:06:49Cashew's one.
01:06:49Easy.
01:06:50Cashew's goated nut.
01:06:51You don't like cashews, huh?
01:06:53No.
01:06:53Go watch Luke, you idiot.
01:06:55I like cashews.
01:06:55Megan!
01:06:56Megan, that is wrong of you.
01:06:59I'm sorry.
01:06:59I'm drinking Josh.
01:07:00Megan!
01:07:01I just, I like almonds number one.
01:07:03Almonds are great.
01:07:04They're top three to me as well.
01:07:05Unsalted.
01:07:06Roasted almonds.
01:07:06Yeah.
01:07:06Well, you're healthy.
01:07:07No, I like, I mean, I like unsalted cashews better.
01:07:10Like, cashews are great vehicles for, like, you know, if you're going to put, like, honey
01:07:13on them or whatever, but, like, you know, like the honey powder.
01:07:15You ever get the candied, the candied cashews?
01:07:18I got, like, a fan.
01:07:18Yeah, they're great.
01:07:19They're great.
01:07:20But, but a raw cashew is on.
01:07:22Oh, my God.
01:07:22Unbelievable.
01:07:23Ooh.
01:07:23Ooh, just a good soft nut melt in your mouth.
01:07:27The cashew market, by the way.
01:07:27The cashew market is, is too high.
01:07:30What's that?
01:07:31Too expensive.
01:07:32Oh, yeah, they are.
01:07:33Nuts are expensive.
01:07:34Too expensive.
01:07:34Uh, all right, and then we have a live smash and pass, our guy, Carson, is from St. Louis.
01:07:40He's been talking about these all week.
01:07:42He's always talking about this gooey butter cake, live tasting.
01:07:46Carson, did you make this?
01:07:47Oh, it smells so good.
01:07:49I'm excited.
01:07:50I swear, I specifically never tried this before the show.
01:07:53Cheers.
01:07:53Cheers, boys.
01:07:54Cheers.
01:07:55Happy holidays.
01:07:57Oh, yeah.
01:08:00Oh, man.
01:08:00Oh, my goodness.
01:08:01That really is gooey.
01:08:03That is buttery and gooey.
01:08:05Oh, my God.
01:08:06The name is, it is aptly named.
01:08:09God, I want a glass of milk.
01:08:10I think this just moved to my top of the nut.
01:08:12A glass of milk?
01:08:13Or actually, you know what?
01:08:14Like, anything sweet.
01:08:16Get some coffee with this.
01:08:17Dip it in the coffee.
01:08:18Get you a little bitter and a little sweet combo, dude.
01:08:21Wow, Carson, this is really good.
01:08:21Good job.
01:08:22Dude, I could inject this.
01:08:24You do a lot of bad stuff here, Carson.
01:08:27Like, you kind of suck, but you really knocked it out of the fart.
01:08:30And it's an interview, Varchant.
01:08:32I'm really proud of you, guys.
01:08:34I'm drooling.
01:08:35This is the best thing that you've ever done.
01:08:39Hey, guys, we're going to enjoy the rest of these.
01:08:42Smash!
01:08:43Smash, mash, mash, mash, mash.
01:08:44And when we come back, when we come back,
01:08:47Dana's going to teach us about his association.
01:08:49That's right.
01:08:50We're going to talk about time.
01:08:51We're at Wake Up Barstool.
01:08:52That's what's going on.
01:08:53Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool.
01:09:00Okay, it's time, guys, to educate ourselves about the association with Professor Dana Beard.
01:09:08Let's see, Dana Beard.
01:09:09Let's go.
01:09:10Take it away.
01:09:11Oh, jab step.
01:09:12We went by ankle really bad in our game two days ago.
01:09:14It's extremely purple.
01:09:16Wait, wait, wait.
01:09:16Another loss?
01:09:17The Youngerauts are in trouble.
01:09:19Another loss for the Youngerauts?
01:09:20Yeah, we're 0-3.
01:09:21We lost by 27 to the last place team.
01:09:24No!
01:09:24What?
01:09:25We're turning into a joke.
01:09:27We're turning into a joke.
01:09:29All right.
01:09:30The NBA is in full swing.
01:09:32Christmas, you might be thinking all about your presents.
01:09:35You might be thinking about your stocking.
01:09:37This guy thinks about the slate of five beautiful games.
01:09:41I'm glad that you're highlighting this because the NFL has tried to move in here.
01:09:45No.
01:09:46They've tried to move in and set up shop.
01:09:48But if you're our age, Christmas Day is the NBA's day.
01:09:51So, we got a nice Spurs-Thunder game.
01:09:55That is actually the second game of the day.
01:09:57Now, Victor Wembenyama, what you know about him?
01:10:00What you know about him, Mike?
01:10:01He's an alien.
01:10:02He is an alien, man.
01:10:03He is.
01:10:04But everyone wants to talk about Wembeny.
01:10:06But this team, they are building a future.
01:10:09They have Dylan Harper.
01:10:11They have Stephon Castle.
01:10:12They have De'Aaron Fox.
01:10:14And this team, man, I'm telling you, in a couple years down the road, we're going to be saying it's the Thunder and the Spurs.
01:10:20Okay.
01:10:20It's going to be the old.
01:10:22It's as if I would say it's like the Chiefs-Bills in a couple years.
01:10:27Okay.
01:10:28Okay.
01:10:28That's perfect.
01:10:30I understand that.
01:10:30That's what it's going to be.
01:10:31And they are playing on Christmas Day.
01:10:32So, Thunder, 25-2.
01:10:35They did lose one game in the NBA Cup since we last spoke.
01:10:38Yep.
01:10:38But they're still unbelievable.
01:10:40Who did they lose to?
01:10:41Spurs or Knicks?
01:10:41They lost to the Spurs.
01:10:43They lost to the Spurs.
01:10:43There you go.
01:10:44Did you see?
01:10:44Already being checked.
01:10:45Did you say that?
01:10:46Revenge game on Christmas.
01:10:47You said that?
01:10:47I said Spurs or Knicks.
01:10:48I knew it was fun.
01:10:48I messed up.
01:10:49I thought you knew.
01:10:50No, I messed up.
01:10:51So, that game is going to be awesome.
01:10:53I think in a couple years, like I said, this is going to be the rivalry to watch for in 2030, let's say.
01:10:58When Gwen Benyama is 8 feet tall and SGA is at 40.
01:11:01He just keeps growing.
01:11:02When's he going to stop growing?
01:11:03I don't get it.
01:11:04Victor just keeps getting taller.
01:11:06Let's hit the next one.
01:11:07The Cavs.
01:11:08How many games would you guess the Cavs won last year?
01:11:11Last year?
01:11:1280?
01:11:12No, no, no.
01:11:13No, no.
01:11:1468?
01:11:16Yeah, they were in the 60s, right?
01:11:17They were really good.
01:11:19I know that.
01:11:19They were in the 60s.
01:11:20Ooh.
01:11:2164.
01:11:22Good guess, Meg.
01:11:23This year, they are 15 and 13, struggling, and it's the same exact roster.
01:11:28So, a lot of people are wondering, especially all my friends in Cleveland, are wondering what is going on with these Cavs.
01:11:34What's up with Spire?
01:11:35He's playing.
01:11:37They've had some injuries.
01:11:38So, you can point to that.
01:11:40But, regular season Cavs are not good right now.
01:11:42And, on the other end, the team they're playing, the New York Knicks, just won the NBA Cup.
01:11:47They're hot in the streets.
01:11:49And, everybody is saying this is their year to go to the finals.
01:11:52Can you imagine New York City getting an NBA Finals team in 2025?
01:11:56Well, I'll let Mikey ask the question.
01:11:58What was up with the Josh Hart and Jalen Brunson?
01:12:01Listen, man.
01:12:02Hey, we're not knocking that.
01:12:04I'm not knocking that.
01:12:05It's just boys being boys.
01:12:06Well, I'm glad you highlighted it, Mikey, because you get it.
01:12:09Yeah.
01:12:10But, we're sitting there with the production team watching the videos, and they were all shocked.
01:12:14Oh, come on.
01:12:15You guys have never been in a locker room.
01:12:17Like, Josh Hart, he just goosed his boy a little bit.
01:12:19Just a little feathery touch.
01:12:21Just let him know he's there.
01:12:23I would say this.
01:12:25The New York Knicks fans, the videos of the fans that come out outside of Madison Square Garden after every big win are unbelievable.
01:12:35The Cup was no different.
01:12:36But, I could not fathom what those videos look like if the Knicks end up winning the NBA Finals.
01:12:41Listen, man.
01:12:41They deserve some type of success.
01:12:43They've been struggling for a long time.
01:12:46But, I'm a Celtics fan, so I say, screw them.
01:12:48Yeah.
01:12:49Screw them.
01:12:51Next up.
01:12:51At the Boston.
01:12:52Cooper Flagrick of the Year.
01:12:53How did Duke ever lose?
01:12:54Listen, this team right now, the Mavericks are going to be playing the Warriors on Christmas Day.
01:13:00Cooper Flag just dropped 43 points.
01:13:02What?
01:13:0218 years old.
01:13:03This kid.
01:13:04He's 18, Katie.
01:13:06What were you doing when you were 18?
01:13:07What was I doing?
01:13:08I was crushing.
01:13:10Okay.
01:13:10Can't say that.
01:13:12We remember when.
01:13:13You were crushing the backboards.
01:13:15Crushing the backboards.
01:13:15Crushing the backboards.
01:13:16Yeah.
01:13:17We know what Kadic was doing.
01:13:18He was eating so much that he had to force himself to throw up to make weigh-ins.
01:13:22Watch the Barstool Big Boys Club, guys.
01:13:24There he is.
01:13:25When I was 18, I was getting double-doubles at Higgum High School.
01:13:28This guy's in the NBA getting triple-doubles against the best players in the world.
01:13:33Unreal.
01:13:33On the other side, on the Charlotte Hornets, they have Conn Knipple.
01:13:36This kid is, I believe, the fourth or fifth pick of the year.
01:13:40What did I say to you, Megan?
01:13:42What did you say to me?
01:13:42A couple weeks ago, you asked, give me a take or something.
01:13:46I said, Conn Knipple, rookie of the year.
01:13:47You did.
01:13:48He's coming.
01:13:49He's coming, man.
01:13:50Those two players were on the Duke team last year.
01:13:53How in the world did they lose?
01:13:55And the other guy, the, uh, who's the other guy?
01:13:58Big dude?
01:13:58Yeah.
01:13:58Malawatch?
01:13:59Yeah.
01:14:00He got drafted.
01:14:01It's incredible.
01:14:02But they are playing the Warriors.
01:14:03The Warriors are, eh, this year, they're okay.
01:14:06Steph Curry's still lighting it up.
01:14:07Jimmy Butler, that'll be a good game to watch on Christmas.
01:14:11Let's get to the number four bullet point here.
01:14:15Is Lakers successful?
01:14:16Can you answer this question?
01:14:17No.
01:14:18I'm saying yes, because Luka Doncic.
01:14:21They have Luka.
01:14:22They got Austin Reeves.
01:14:23They are 15.
01:14:24And they got LeBron.
01:14:26The question with them is defense.
01:14:28Those boys are lighting it up right now.
01:14:30I believe they're 19 and 7.
01:14:32But defense.
01:14:34LeBron.
01:14:35He's old, man.
01:14:36He's old.
01:14:37He had sciatica, Kadek.
01:14:39LeBron jams.
01:14:40He's got sciatica.
01:14:41I don't even know what that is.
01:14:42Exactly.
01:14:43That's what old people get, man.
01:14:44Sciatica sucks.
01:14:45You have it?
01:14:46Yeah, my mom had it.
01:14:47Is that in your hip or back?
01:14:49Yeah, it's like your hip.
01:14:50It kind of goes to your lower back.
01:14:51It's like a sharp, like, nervy nerve pain.
01:14:54Yeah, it's no fun.
01:14:55They're playing the Rockets, who have a very formidable, formidable team.
01:14:58A big team, Kadek.
01:15:00A big team.
01:15:01Yeah.
01:15:01Their port guard's like 6'10".
01:15:02What?
01:15:03Yeah.
01:15:04Oh, wait.
01:15:04Who did the Rockets just lose to?
01:15:06The Pelicans?
01:15:07Oh, that's right, man.
01:15:08The Pals have won.
01:15:09It's ridiculous.
01:15:10Not one.
01:15:11Not two.
01:15:12But three games in a row, guys.
01:15:14Yeah, they're coming.
01:15:15Derek Queen, Jeremiah Fears, Herm, Trey Murphy.
01:15:20LaMelo Ball?
01:15:21Zion Williamson off the bench.
01:15:22Yeah, whatever.
01:15:23LaMelo Ball's on the organs, right?
01:15:23I don't care about Zion anymore.
01:15:25I'm done.
01:15:25I'm into Sadiq Bey.
01:15:27Yeah.
01:15:27He's Bey now.
01:15:28That's low-key probably the most fun game to watch.
01:15:30DeJounte Murray coming back.
01:15:31So, number five.
01:15:32Do the Nuggets or Wolves have any chance in the seven-game series against the Thunder?
01:15:36I say no, but if one of them were to, it would be the Nuggets.
01:15:39Nikola Jokic, the guy's an animal.
01:15:42Anthony Edwards on the other side.
01:15:43The Wolves have been struggling to close out games, but they're playing each other on the
01:15:49last game of Christmas, so it'll be a good one.
01:15:51Who is your MVP pick right now if the season ended?
01:15:54Right now?
01:15:57Is it Wemby?
01:15:58It unfortunately has to be SGA because their team is so good.
01:16:02They're 25-2, and he's the best player on the best team.
01:16:05The best player in the NBA is Nikola Jokic.
01:16:08The most skilled, the most important is Nikola Jokic, but the answer right now is probably
01:16:13SGA.
01:16:14I don't like the Thunder.
01:16:16I just, they annoy me because they're too good, but it's pretty good for the NBA to have
01:16:21someone this dominant.
01:16:22You mentioned Ann Edwards, probably the most underrated sports highlight as we exit 2025.
01:16:28Like, one of the best moments of the year was him doing something I've never seen before,
01:16:33eliminating the Lakers in the Staples Center, and then walking around outside the Staples
01:16:39Center talking trash to fans.
01:16:41That's right.
01:16:41Like, he had his boys with him, and he went to the streets to immediately just crap on
01:16:47Lakers fans.
01:16:48Anthony Edwards, if you're watching, I just want to hang out and play video games with
01:16:51you something.
01:16:51Yeah, me too.
01:16:52Oh, no, guys, what are we doing?
01:16:54Oh, really, guys?
01:16:56He rolled his ankle.
01:16:57Oh, no, dude.
01:16:58Guys, look at how fat his ankle is.
01:17:00How fat his ankle is.
01:17:01Okay, it's bruising now.
01:17:03That's actually, that's actually an ankle sprain.
01:17:05Like, for real, yeah.
01:17:06That's actually an ankle.
01:17:07It's a low ankle, low ankle.
01:17:09So, white boy, Rick drops 13 and 6.
01:17:11Has he been the most consistent piece of the team?
01:17:14Yeah, he's really big.
01:17:15He gets a lot of boards.
01:17:17We can take this down.
01:17:18We don't need to see this.
01:17:19Guys, you rolled his ankle, guys.
01:17:20The 0 for 4 doesn't count because I was hurt.
01:17:23Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:17:23He was hurt.
01:17:24Okay, look.
01:17:25What is going on with Tate's shooting percentage?
01:17:29That, that, that, that.
01:17:29Bro.
01:17:29Our coach told him to shoot 4.
01:17:31One of 12?
01:17:32It happens, man.
01:17:34One of 12?
01:17:35Listen, listen.
01:17:36I'll put the offer out again.
01:17:37If you need an enforcer.
01:17:38We need an enforcer.
01:17:39I will go in and get 5 fouls, a couple technicals, and put one of their faces in the field.
01:17:43We should just bring you two out there and just start body-ing, dude.
01:17:46A body?
01:17:47Yeah, dude, just defense.
01:17:48My stat line would be 0, 0, 0, 0, 4 rebounds, 5 fouls.
01:17:54All right, check it out, guys.
01:17:56So, Christmas Day, excellent NBA slate.
01:17:58Thank you to Professor Beard.
01:18:00Woo!
01:18:00We got more Wake Up Barstool coming up next right here on FS1.
01:18:11Welcome back out to Wake Up Barstool on FS1.
01:18:15Hope you're having a great day.
01:18:18Friday, how about it?
01:18:19We love it.
01:18:20And because it's Friday, we once again have another skillet special parlay.
01:18:26And rip.
01:18:27Ready to go.
01:18:28Woo!
01:18:29We got so close to winning these guys.
01:18:31Woo!
01:18:33Thank you to Connor, our excellent graphics guy.
01:18:36John Alcon.
01:18:36Getting this up when I just gave my pick a minute ago.
01:18:39All right, Megan, you start us off.
01:18:41Yeah, I'm going to go with the Vikings minus three at the Giants.
01:18:45Vikings are obviously hot right now.
01:18:47JJ McCarthy's making plays.
01:18:49I think the Giants have lost eight straight, and they're allowing 31.5 points per game on
01:18:55average in that eight-game losing streak.
01:18:58So, taking the Vikings minus a three.
01:19:01Nine, nine, nine, nine, nine!
01:19:04Nobody's been hotter than Dana when it comes to the skillet.
01:19:07I don't think I've lost an NBA pick on here.
01:19:09And I'll say that.
01:19:10I will probably lose.
01:19:11We're not starting now.
01:19:12What do we got?
01:19:13It's the C's tonight.
01:19:14Not the C's.
01:19:15Against the Heat.
01:19:16Big tilt.
01:19:17Listen, man.
01:19:18Jalen Brown is the most underrated star in the league right now.
01:19:22He's carrying this team.
01:19:23Just wait until Jason Tatum comes back in April, and we'll be right back in the finals.
01:19:28All right, Celtics money.
01:19:29One of the premier Eastern Conference rivalries with these two teams.
01:19:36There's one thing that Pat Riley hates.
01:19:38It's Boston.
01:19:39It's a bit of a homer pick, but trust me.
01:19:41Mike, what do you got?
01:19:42I think the Christmas...
01:19:44One more time, Mikey!
01:19:47Christmas time.
01:19:48You're a little crimson cuck as well.
01:19:49The Christmas time.
01:19:50What?
01:19:50I think the Crimson Tide are going to go into Norman, get the dub, and then play the
01:19:55Hoosiers next week in the Rose Bowl.
01:19:57Hoop!
01:19:57Hoop!
01:19:58Hoosiers!
01:19:58Yes!
01:19:59You and Megan.
01:20:01So sad.
01:20:02And Brandon.
01:20:02All the people I love.
01:20:04Just kowtowing, bowing, and filleting the Alabama Crimson Tide.
01:20:08Wait, what did you just call me?
01:20:09The Crimson Tide.
01:20:10I don't know.
01:20:12Okay, give me...
01:20:13It's going to be a violation of some time.
01:20:14I was thinking that.
01:20:15Chill out, guys.
01:20:16I was thinking it.
01:20:17I don't know.
01:20:18I got angry and it happened.
01:20:19You concerned?
01:20:19I don't know if it's a violation or not.
01:20:22I'm sorry, Julie.
01:20:23You do a great cheat.
01:20:24I put Julie in tough spots.
01:20:26All right.
01:20:27Miami plus three at Texas A&M.
01:20:29I'm rolling my guy Vilma.
01:20:31I, um...
01:20:32This is a bit of a gut pick here.
01:20:36This is a gut pick.
01:20:38I watched that Texas A&M-Texas game very closely.
01:20:42Went and re-watched the film.
01:20:44And it was so clear how Texas attacked Marcel Reed.
01:20:49Playing coverage.
01:20:50Rushing for.
01:20:50Miami should be able to do that.
01:20:51I don't know if Miami has the back end maybe to keep up in the same way that Texas did with
01:20:57those A&M receivers who are very good.
01:21:00But I do love Miami's weapons as well.
01:21:02Going to college station is going to be tough.
01:21:04Was this a very recent gut, you know, gut decision?
01:21:07Yeah, it was like 30 seconds ago.
01:21:08It was like a minute ago.
01:21:09Like right before he came back.
01:21:10Mmm.
01:21:11Right before he came back.
01:21:12Those are the best gut decisions.
01:21:13Shout out to the U.
01:21:14It's like, it's like SAT prep.
01:21:16It's all about the U.
01:21:17They tell you to go with your gut.
01:21:20To go with your gut.
01:21:20First instincts, if you will.
01:21:22A women's intuition.
01:21:25Did you just do a U down?
01:21:26I love women.
01:21:29Shout out women.
01:21:30I think, I think.
01:21:31Shout out girls.
01:21:32I think, I think you're trying a little hard to convince us of that.
01:21:36Shout out.
01:21:38What did Dana say on Big Boys Club the other day about pregnant?
01:21:42Shout out Big Boys Club.
01:21:43Or was that Mike?
01:21:44I said shout out women for giving birth.
01:21:46Yeah, that's right.
01:21:46We do believe that.
01:21:47Let go.
01:21:47Hell yeah, Mike.
01:21:48Yes!
01:21:49Hell yeah.
01:21:50Let go.
01:21:51Busy, busy.
01:21:52Shout out Oldie.
01:21:53Shout out my stepmom for saying that she makes corned beef casserole every Christmas
01:21:57and I pass it over because I hate new foods.
01:22:01Yeah, oh yeah, that's right.
01:22:02Yes.
01:22:02Thank you to, yeah, well now you can try it though.
01:22:05Yes, now I can.
01:22:05Now you can try it this year.
01:22:06Because I have your, you guys' vote of confidence.
01:22:08Your stepmom's excellent corned beef hash.
01:22:10Megan, I noticed you haven't eaten all your butter cake.
01:22:12Carson, does that hurt your feelings?
01:22:15I want to eat more of it, but I'm not, I'm not like a morning breakfast eater.
01:22:19I had to.
01:22:20I told Carson that before.
01:22:21Dana did have to.
01:22:22I did too.
01:22:23My stomach is.
01:22:24I'm an eater.
01:22:25Bad at me.
01:22:26I'm an eater.
01:22:27It's very sweet.
01:22:28See, all of you three, y'all just shoved it in, didn't think about the consequences.
01:22:32I knew I have a rest of the day to, rest of the day to go, guys.
01:22:36We're in our fat face though.
01:22:37My stomach too big.
01:22:38We're bulking up for winter and then we're gonna, we're gonna.
01:22:41We're hibernating.
01:22:41You are, you are bulking or you're bulked?
01:22:44We're, we're bulked and bulky.
01:22:45Been bulked.
01:22:46Hey, hope you guys have a great weekend.
01:22:48More Wake Up Barstool coming up Monday.
01:22:50Mwah.
01:22:51Good luck in all your plays.
01:22:52Mwah.
01:22:53Mwah.
01:22:53Mwah.
01:22:53Mwah.
01:22:53Mwah.
01:22:54Mwah.
01:22:54Mwah.
01:22:55Mwah.
01:22:55Mwah.
01:22:56Mwah.
01:22:56Mwah.
01:22:57Mwah.
01:22:58Mwah.
