01:25From Jan 1, 2025 all newly registered motorcycles, or new motorcycles, must comply with the 5 Plus standard.
01:35With an exception, motorcycles can still be registered with Euro 5.
01:39There are rules with production quantities, how many units are produced, but the new engines have to comply with Euro 5 Plus.
01:45That's why Kawasaki has changed a lot of things on the engine.
01:48It has a 3M stroke. That's 56 cubic centimeters more, from 1043 to 1099 cubic centimeters.
01:58They have used a couple of different camshafts with slightly tamer valve timing.
02:02In return, the compression has been increased.
02:05So all measures that benefit Euro 5 Plus, but at the same time also measures that maintain performance.
02:11It has fallen slightly, the previous model, the 1000, had 142 horsepower peak power, now we have 136 horsepower and 113 nanometers maximum torque.
02:25But if you compare the power and torque curves I was just talking about maximum values and we're now looking at the things below, then you can see that the curve, the two curves, both torque and power curve of the new 1100, is always above the NEMIA 1000SX.
02:44When you're out on these winding roads, you welcome the extra torque, the extra power.
02:49We've also installed a quickshifter blibber here, which can be operated and used from 1500 revolutions per minute.
02:58The journalists have also confirmed that it works really well and is a big help on the many bends you have here.
03:05That should get better this afternoon, but you've already seen that there are alternating corners, you're almost only in second or third gear and then you have to change gears every now and then, logically when you have a little stretch in between.
03:18And the quickshifter makes life a lot easier, you have to say.
03:22The geometry and so on has stayed the same on the bike.
03:26As I said, the engine has had a few key changes along the way, which is also a difference.
03:32We have the SE model in front of us now.
03:34We can see a Brembo brake system at the front with steel braided lines, and that's what you know from Brembo discs, they're round.
03:41So no longer a wave pattern, like the ones that were round too, but they no longer have this paddle, this paddle, this flower shape.
03:51It's also called a wave, there were manufacturers who called it a wave.
03:55At the rear we now have a round shaped disc, no longer a pedal disc, which has grown by 10 millimeters, from 250 to 260 millimeters.
04:04I think that's due to the pillion ride, as was the case with the Versys 1100.
04:13This gives you a larger braking surface, more contact area for the brake pads, and that improves the performance of the rear brake,
04:20which is even better when there are two people on the bike because the rear wheel load is simply higher, logically.
04:26The front disc measures 300 millimeters, 300 millimeters, with radially mounted four piston fixed calipers.
04:36The bike sits really firmly on the road because you have a very front wheel oriented seating position,
04:41not like on enduro's or crossover bikes, an upright position where the front wheel is a bit lighter and you have more weight on the rear wheel.
04:47That means the front end isn't so light that the whole thing becomes unstable.
05:01Correct, the NEMIA 1100 SXSE weighs 234 kilograms and the standard version 235 kilogram.
05:09Unladen weight with all operating conditions, fully fueled, tank 90% full.
05:13That's the EU standard.
05:14I think it's a weight we can live with.
05:19It's not too heavy, it's not super light either, but a good compromise in the middle,
05:24and that's obviously an important point when you're traveling,
05:27and easy to disassemble without having to deal with a frame hanging off.
05:32Exactly.
05:33It still looks good, because you've already attached the holds to the pillion grab handles,
05:38and then down here, basically it's part of the pannier set,
05:41the fastening set a rubber buffer is pushed onto the rear arm of the pillion footrest,
05:46and the pannier then engages underneath.
05:49That means you have three points, which makes the whole thing stable,
05:52but there's still a bit of suspension, which is also not unimportant.
05:5628L per pannier.
05:58A full-length helmet will fit in there,
06:00as long as it's not XXXL, I'd say, yes.
06:09835mm, that's the high seat, that's standard for Europe.
06:13And then there's a seat post with a seat height of 820mm,
06:17which can be reduced for shorter riders.
06:19Yes, the price of the motorcycle in the SE version, including freight, is 17,045 euros.
06:28I think that's a fair price for a very, very good motorcycle.
06:33And I think Kawasaki's approach to this topic was correct.
06:38The Sportu category has gotten a bit smaller.
06:41If they had installed an electronic suspension, like on the Versys,
06:44it would have become significantly more expensive,
06:46and then they might have overshot the mark a bit.
06:48I think the price is right for what you get.
06:51It's also a really great motorcycle.
06:56The standard one costs 15,295 euros, so it's almost 2,000 euros cheap.
07:01Yes, not quite 1,800 euros.
07:05That's the question, right?
07:06If someone says that's enough for me,
07:08of course, you can also install the panniers later,
07:11and you can retrofit the heated grips.
07:13It also has a lot of electronics included in the overall package,
07:18like the quickshifter and blipper,
07:20like curve countering management,
07:22like the intelligent braking system,
07:24all the goodies that Kawasaki already offers.
07:29Integrated.
07:29Cruise control, integrated riding modes too.
07:33So R by wire is of course also included on the bike.
07:35Well, that's definitely something to consider.
07:38What clearly makes the price difference is the oil level leg, right?
07:43Well, that does play a role in the braking system,
07:46that's what the SE comes with.
07:49But I would say that you can get along very well with the Nissan Zong.
07:53The braking system works well too.
07:56They are no longer designed as paddle discs,
07:58but are just normal round.
07:59And at the rear there is also a larger disc with a diameter of 260mm instead of 250mm like the 1000.
08:08So the engine has all these innovations and of course it also has the big engine.
08:12So you can take all of this with you if you can do without the oil in the shock absorber
08:17and get by with the standard shock absorber, which works very well.
08:22And you can live with the fact that you're afraid of Nissan.
08:24I've already said a Nissan brake system too, which works very well.
08:28Japanese brakes aren't bad.
08:29Then you can easily save around 1,800 euros, plus or minus.
08:48Exactly.
08:49There are edition packages, performance and tour, and then there's performance tour.
08:53So then the combination of both.
08:55You can read all about it at www.kawasaki.de.
08:58What they entail and what the price is.
09:07From December 5th at the Intermort in Cologne, this motorcycle, along with all the other new
09:12products and our carryover models, will be on display in Cologne.
09:15Kawasaki has a big stand there.
