00:00Welcome to the video from the CarMagazine Tuning Blog.
00:04This time, we're talking about the Piaggio Medli 200 and Medli S2.
00:10With the new Piaggio Medli 200, the Italian manufacturer is launching an affordable alternative to the Wesper,
00:16which also impresses in terms of driving stability thanks to its larger wheels.
00:22Already known as the 125 and 150, the new 200 now replaces the previous 150 version,
00:29while the 125 remains in the range and has been updated to comply with the Euro 5 Plus standard.
00:36The change to the 200 is connected to a change in the law in Italy.
00:42From 2025, dual carriageways and motorways will be permitted to be used with two-wheelers with 125cc or more,
00:49provided the driver is at least 18 years old.
00:53The previous minimum limit of 150cc will therefore no longer apply.
00:57For manufacturers, this means more efficient model offerings and for users, a clearer choice.
01:04That's why Piaggio is launching the Medli 200 specifically for the European Driving License Class A2.
01:11The Medli 200 is powered by a new single-cylinder four-stroke engine called the IGIT-4,
01:16which is water-cooled, has four valves and is fuel injected.
01:19It complies with the Euro 5 Plus standard, has a displacement of exactly 174 cubic meters
01:26and produces around 18 horsepower at 8,650 revolutions per minute.
01:31The maximum torque is 60.5 newton meters at 7,000 revolutions.
01:36As is usual with scooters, power is transmitted via a continuously variable variator.
01:41The engine is integrated into the rear swing arm.
01:45Thanks to the start-stop system and modern injection technology,
01:48the average fuel consumption is around 2.5L per 100 kilometers according to the factory.
01:55The tank holds 7L and is positioned in front of the seat,
01:58which benefits the center of gravity and storage space.
02:00Although there are no official figures for the weight yet,
02:05around 150 kilograms are expected to be ready to ride.
02:09The seat height is around 80 centimeters.
02:13The chassis of the Medli 200 complies with the large-wheel scooter standard
02:17and consists of a telescopic fork at the front and two spring struts
02:21with adjustable spring preload at the rear.
02:23The tires measure 18,016 at the front and 120,704 at the rear,
02:29which ensures overall stable handling, especially compared to the WESPA.
02:34Two disc brakes, one per wheel, in combination with ABS ensure modern safety.
02:40There is a large storage compartment under the seat,
02:43which Piaggio says can accommodate two jet helmets.
02:48An electric release of the seat via a switch on the handlebars offers additional comfort.
02:54All-round LED lighting and a digital display are standard equipment.
02:59The Piaggio Metal S200 adds smartphone connectivity and additional media functions in the cockpit.
03:07The S-Vion also offers a more eye-catching design and more color options.
03:13While the standard version of the Medli 200 is available in black or grow,
03:17the Medli S200 is available in black, white and light blue.
03:21The basic version costs around 3,700 euros in Italy.
03:27The S-Vion costs around 4,100 euros.
03:31In Germany, comparable prices can be expected.
03:35As always, you can find the link to read the article in our magazine in the video description.
