Five 17-year-old male students were charged in the Kuala Kangsar Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday (Oct 29) after a viral video showed them obstructing an ambulance on the North-South Expressway.

00:00Five 17-year-old male students were charged in the Kuala Kangsa Magistrates' Court on Wednesday
00:05after a viral video showed them obstructing an ambulance on the North-South Expressway.
00:11They were accused of riding their motorcycles dangerously at kilometer 249
00:16on the southbound lane of the highway around 3.15 p.m. on October 19th.
00:22All five pleaded guilty to the offense under Section 42, subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act, 1987,
00:29which carries up to two years in prison and a fine of up to 15,000 ringgit if convicted.
00:36Magistrate Mohammad Shazmir Zamhari granted each of them bail of 1,500 ringgit with one surety.
00:44Sentencing has been set for January 5, 2026, pending a character report.
00:50The students were earlier arrested in Bukit Murtajam, Penang,
00:53after the viral clip showed them blocking an ambulance
00:56that was on its way to an accident scene at kilometer 260 of the expressway.
