A man caught on camera driving recklessly along the Selat Klang Highway on Thursday (July 17) claimed he was rushing to help his mother, who had suffered a fall.

Klang Utara police chief Assistant Commissioner S. Vijaya Rao said the 29-year-old suspect turned himself in at the Traffic Division of the Klang Utara Police Headquarters around 10pm on Saturday (July 19), accompanied by his lawyer.

00:2310 p.m. on Saturday, accompanied by his lawyer.
00:26In his statement, the man said he was on his way to take his mother to the hospital following
00:31her fall at home.
00:34He was detained at 1.30 a.m. for questioning, tested negative for drugs, and was later released
00:40on police bail at about 3 a.m.
00:43The case has been reclassified under § 42 of the Road Transport Act, 1987 for reckless or
00:50dangerous driving.
00:52On Saturday, it was reported that police were investigating a viral altercation involving
00:58two drivers in which a four-wheel drive vehicle sideswiped and collided with a car on the Selat
01:04Klang Highway.
01:05In the over three-minute video, the man was seen punching the driver's side window and
01:10acting aggressively, even as a police officer attempted to intervene.
01:15The driver of the car was unhurt and has decided not to pursue the case further, stating that he
01:20only wishes to make an insurance claim for the accident.
