A 19-year-old student was seriously injured in a crash involving an ambulance and two other vehicles near Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in Penang.

00:06An ambulance responding to an emergency was involved in a three-vehicle collision
00:11along Jalan Bukit Gambhir in Georgetown on Thursday.
00:16Georgetown Deputy OCPD Superintendent Lee Swee Sick said a 19-year-old driver
00:22had allegedly failed to give way at a traffic light intersection
00:25colliding with the ambulance, which then skidded and hit another car.
00:30He said the ambulance had its siren on and was not carrying any patient at the time
00:35as it was en route to pick one up.
00:38He said the 51-year-old ambulance driver and three medical personnel sustained minor injuries
00:43while the 19-year-old car driver suffered chest, rib and waist injuries.
00:48The case is being investigated under the Road Transport Act for careless driving.
