A teenager who caused the deaths of three young motorcyclists after running a red light at the Taman Matahari junction along Jalan Persiaran Senawang 1 near Seremban around 8.30pm on March 6 has been sentenced to three years' rehabilitation at the Henry Gurney School in Melaka.

00:06has been sentenced to three years' rehabilitation at the Henry Gurney School in Malacca.
00:12Magistrate Nurul Azuin Mohamed Talha on Wednesday also ordered the now 18-year-old's parents
00:18to pay 2,000 ringgit compensation to each victim's family and his mother to post a 4,000 ringgit good
00:25behaviour bond
00:26and visit him monthly during his rehabilitation.
00:28He must undergo a further year of mandatory supervision by a welfare officer after his release.
00:35The accused had claimed trial when charged last April with causing the deaths of Mohamed Aydil Ramdan Abdullah, 15,
00:42Mohamed Aswari Lotpi, 16, and Aisar Azim Abdullah, 17, in a crash at the Taman-Matahari Junction on March 6
00:51last year.
00:51On December 17, he changed his plea and pleaded guilty to the offence.
00:56The charge under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act, 1987, carried a maximum jail term of 10 years
01:04and a fine of up to 50,000 ringgit.
01:07The prosecution had pushed for a jail sentence given the offence's severity
01:11and the fact that the teen is now 18 years and 9 months old,
01:15while the defence sought a good behaviour bond, citing his ongoing recovery from crash-related injuries.
01:21He was also fined 2,000 ringgit for driving without a licence.
01:25The defence said it plans to appeal after the court rejected a stay request.
