00:00We got to talk about Shohei Ohtani.
00:02Unbelievable that we made our way all the way to segment three,
00:04and we haven't mentioned that Shohei Ohtani smashed an MLB World Series record
00:09by getting on base nine times.
00:12That tied a major league record.
00:14Our Twitter team, at just BB underscore media,
00:18had an all-time night on Monday night into Tuesday morning.
00:22I can't even call it Monday night, but they were absolutely nailing it.
00:26Shohei Ohtani goes double, homer, double, homer, right?
00:34And then he goes four intentional walks and a walk.
00:37He goes, sorry, homer, double, double, homer,
00:40intentional walk, intentional walk, intentional walk, intentional walk,
00:43and just unintentional but intentional walk.
00:46Of course, he tied a major league record by getting on base nine times.
00:51He pitches tonight, by the way, folks.
00:53He throws in under 24 hours.
00:55His post-game conversation, I believe it was with Tom Berducci.
00:59Will Ayrton said, I just want to get out of here as quickly as possible
01:02and go to bed so I can get ready for my start.
01:04This guy was stretching his calf in the 11th inning.
01:06I understand that it's kind of like a cheapy way to get to nine times on base
01:11with the intentional walks, but that speaks to who he is,
01:15what he was doing that night.
01:17Like, that was the stuff of legends.
01:20And every single time you think this guy has checked every box on a baseball field,
01:24he finds a new box to create and check.
01:28Yep.
01:28Yeah, and it's the first time he's ever walked five times.
01:31Interestingly enough, he's walked four times three different occasions in his career.
01:35He earned the five walks with not only the four just scorched balls in that ballgame,
01:43but also I think the homers that he's hit over the last week plus
01:48and just the at-bats that he's had in general,
01:51whether it's the home run against the Jays,
01:53whether it's the three home runs against the Brewers.
01:55Like, there was just so many at-bats of late where it's just,
01:58okay, we're going to let somebody else beat us.
02:00But to that point, that's one other gripe I have.
02:02You have a mound visit with Otani coming up,
02:06and that ended up being why this game carried on.
02:08Maybe they score another run another way,
02:10but I don't think so because they didn't score another run another way
02:12for 48 innings after this.
02:15I understand that that was definitely not the location intended for Sir Anthony Dominguez.
02:21But what did you talk about there with your guy who is stuff over command,
02:25knowing that he's probably not going to hit his spot,
02:27or at least is liable to not hit his spot at points with Otani up?
02:33I'm sure the conversation was, like, focus here, throw here,
02:37whatever it was to how you want to pitch to him.
02:40But whatever the conversation was, it should have included,
02:44do whatever you can to not leave a fastball in the area
02:48where a guy this dialed can go kill it.
02:51And it didn't work.
02:53I don't know.
02:53Whatever the conversation was, it didn't work.
02:55And, you know, whether it was very obvious
02:58and Sir Anthony Dominguez just completely botched that, I don't know.
03:02But if the conversation wasn't, I was looking at, you know,
03:05where the catcher was set up and everything like that,
03:07which was still Kirk,
03:09it looked like it was high fastball.
03:14There's always a chance that he tugs that down a little bit.
03:17Otani can still cover those pitches.
03:19So I don't really know what the conversation was.
03:21Whatever it was, it wasn't good enough.
03:22And, you know, know your personnel, right?
03:25Hey, brother, here's what I'll say.
03:27I can respect and I can forgive a location gaffe.
03:32And Dominguez can just tap his chest and say,
03:34that's on me.
03:35I yanked one, whatever, whatever.
03:37That pitch selection, like,
03:38righties shouldn't be throwing him fastballs in October.
03:42There's just no world that that should be happening.
03:43Nobody should be throwing him fastballs,
03:45but particularly right-handed pitching should never throw this guy fastballs.
03:49Like, if it's a show me at the chin
03:51and you have confidence that you're not going to tug it down.
03:53Even then, he can get to a pitch at his collarbone.
03:55So, like, you're right.
03:56It has to be above the collarbone.
03:58There was just no world that, like,
04:00a fastball first pitch made any sense in the world.
