00:00Am I right when I watch Shohei Ohtani the other day,
00:03I saw him go six and a third, six strikeouts.
00:06I mean, Bobby, it looks like the game is slowing down more and more for him
00:10every time he gets into a ball game.
00:13I'm watching a guy, you know, and I'm going to say this.
00:16I mean, we've had so many great Major League Baseball players in history.
00:19Bobby, this guy's the greatest player I've ever seen.
00:22I mean, if he played during Babe Ruth's time,
00:24he'd throw a perfect game every time he would go out there.
00:28I mean, am I going overboard when I'm saying that?
00:32I've never seen anything like this.
00:36You're going overboard, Dan.
00:38He wouldn't throw a perfect game, that's for sure.
00:40But he's damn good.
00:42And it seems like he, like, has an extra focus on pitching.
00:47I saw him pitch with the Angels and hit with the Angels,
00:51and it seemed like hitting was what he was trying to prove,
00:54maybe because guys like John Smoltz would come out and say,
00:57oh, he should be a pitcher only.
00:59He's not a great hitter.
01:00And then he became a great hitter,
01:03and now he wants to prove to people that he's also a great pitcher.
01:07So I don't think you're going to see the big numbers as a batter.
01:13I think you're going to see important numbers.
01:14And it's going to be, like, 40 home runs, and he'll hit .290,
01:19and he'll drive in a whole bunch and score a whole bunch.
01:22But I think it'll be fun watching him throw the ball this season.
01:27In a minute, Bobby,
01:28do you think we're going to see more of a trend of this where organizations,
01:32you work with the Angels,
01:33do you think you're going to see more of these organizations get these dual
01:38threat guys that can both pitch and hit?
01:40Do you think that'll be a trend, or is Otani one-off?
01:44Yeah, I think he's more of a one-off.
01:47And he's had the two Tommy Johns,
01:49and that's, you know, one of those situations.
01:53Organizations don't want to lose a hitter if he's that good of a hitter
01:57because he has the arm injury,
01:59and the arm injury is almost a guarantee for guys these days.
02:03So I think they'll stay away from that,
02:06unless they get a reliever who kind of throws a knuckleball, you know,
02:10or even a starter who throws a pitch that is not so invasive to the,
02:16you know, the elbow.
02:1930 seconds here.
02:20Mike Trout, you're with the Angels.
02:21Are we expecting a bounce-back season from him?
02:25Well, he is, and he's going to try his darndest.
02:30You know, that fastball that you mentioned earlier has really, you know,
02:34caused havoc in his life, and, you know,
02:38they're not throwing him as many breaking balls,
02:40which he can really hit a long way,
02:43and somehow he's got to catch up to that fastball.
02:46Let's go.
