Gas main break at site of Kroger gas station under construction

Due to a gas main break, John R Road was closed in both directions between Big Beaver and Maple roads on Tuesday. WWJ's Tim Pamplin was on the scene.

00:04John R Road between 15 and 16 miles shut down right now because of this awful noise you hear in the background.

00:10Listen.

00:12That's the sound of gas, a gas leak, a gas break, a gas main has been busted by the construction crew up here.

00:18Building a Kroger gas station, I'm being told, when one of the pieces of equipment hit the gas main

00:23and is now, as you hear, sending gas into the atmosphere.

00:27No fire, no sparks here, that's good, waiting for consumers or DTE, not too sure who's got this one.

00:32But rest assured, WWJ will be on the scene all afternoon.
