The City of Detroit has announced a series of first-ever truck traffic restrictions in Southwest Detroit that begin on Monday, October 6, 2025.
The goal, says DPW Deputy Director, Sam Krassenstein, is to keep commercial truck traffic out of residential neighborhoods.

00:00The goal is to really focus on the larger semi-trucks. So we've tried signage that says,
00:05you know, if you have trucks more than four axles, stay off of the street. But we also know in this
00:09particular area, there's, you know, you have a lot of cabs that will only be two axles or three
00:13axles that cause a lot of the problems. So we're taking the blanket approach, no trucks. And if
00:18it's a delivery truck that's supposed to be there, enforcement will follow accordingly. So, you know,
00:22the intent is to not pull over like an Amazon truck or a moving truck that's helping a resident
00:27move, but to really focus on the through trucks that don't have business here.
