00:00How about making sense of Toronto and Los Angeles?
00:02Yeah, that's the World Series.
00:0418 innings last night in performance for a victory for the Dodgers.
00:08They take the series lead now 2-1 in that pivotal game, which they won last night.
00:12Now, we flip it over to tonight.
00:14Bieber and Otani, still a heavy favorite in this game,
00:17up to a minus 200 at a lot of outlets in a total of 8.5.
00:21I'm going to ask you two spread lines, Joe.
00:23One for the game tonight, one for the series,
00:25which is a minus 500 price point for those Dodgers.
00:28Yeah, well, I mean, listen, the last time we saw Otani pitch, Donnie,
00:33it was maybe the performance of a lifter.
00:35Strikes out 10 guys, hits three home runs.
00:37No big deal.
00:38Only the fact that he was on base nine times last night, too, as well.
00:42Sets another World Series record.
00:44But I got to tell you, both teams emptied it last night.
00:47And now they got a game here tonight.
00:49So that means both of these starters are going to be,
00:53they're going to be asked to do a few more innings than maybe usually here tonight.
00:58Keep an eye on his line.
01:00Let's talk more baseball next.
01:02World Series, Otani.
01:04Come on now.
01:05Rise and grind, rise and shine.
01:06It's what we do on the early line.
01:07And some people get into that water cooler here going,
01:09hey, man, I need to tape my eyelids back so I can keep going on today.
01:14Because why?
01:15We were watching the Los Angeles Dodgers last night
01:17in an epic 18-inning game against the Toronto Blue Jays.
01:21And we're coming back for more today.
01:23Donnie right side, Joe Ranier.
01:24We welcome in Adam Kaufman.
01:25Adam, did you have that coffee?
01:27Did you get caffeinated?
01:28How are you awake today?
01:29How did you deal with an 18-inning epic game last night?
01:33Guys, I'll be honest.
01:34I don't know where the hell I am.
01:35If I look like I just woke up, it's because literally five minutes ago,
01:39I pulled myself out of bed to talk to you guys.
01:42I didn't even have time to splash some water on my face.
01:44I feel like my eyes are like, this is unbelievable game.
01:48And I'm sure you guys, given the early nature of this show,
01:51didn't have the luxury of staying up for this thing.
01:53But it was exhilarating.
01:55Again, it didn't end until almost 3 a.m. Eastern.
01:58And we saw 19 pitchers between the two teams.
02:03Obviously, so many different opportunities.
02:05Never mind in the, you know, regulation, if you will,
02:09stanza of the game, the first nine innings.
02:10In the following nine innings that this game went,
02:13as they played two a la Ernie Banks, but all at once.
02:16In the final nine, there were just so many opportunities that this game
02:21could have been won, whether it was being aggressive on the base pads,
02:26arguably too aggressive, guys getting thrown out at home,
02:29thrown out at third, trying to steal bases with, you know,
02:32like Shohei getting thrown out at second with Mookie Betts coming up to bat,
02:37you know, with two outs in the end.
02:39There were just so many different things that when Freddie Freeman hit that
02:42blast to dead center field in the bottom of the 18th inning to walk this thing off,
02:47you were kind of thinking they're going to rob them,
02:49or it's going to fall short at the track.
02:51Like, there's no way this game is ending.
02:52I mean, obviously, it was the second longest baseball game in postseason history.
02:58We saw the Dodgers, who were involved in the other one with the Red Sox in L.A.
03:02back in 2018, a game that I was in the building for.
03:06It was amazing.
03:08Like, during that game like this,
03:10and obviously I wasn't in the building for this one,
03:13but during a game like this,
03:14as a fan, a true baseball fan,
03:17I'm sure everybody in attendance felt the same way,
03:19and probably, again, a lot of people who were at home
03:22that actually did force themselves to stay up,
03:24or if you had the benefit of being on the West Coast,
03:26it wasn't as difficult.
03:27This game, you didn't want it to end.
03:30Like, there was just so much drama, so much fun.
03:32You wanted this thing to go all night
03:34and keep bleeding into the first pitch of the next game.
03:37Shohei Otani, who's pitching today,
03:39got on base nine times safely in this game last night.
03:43He went four for four.
03:45He walked five times intentionally.
03:47They wanted nothing to do with him.
03:50This was just, we could go on and on.
03:52This game was so much fun.
03:54It was awesome stuff,
03:55and also, when you're watching it play out,
03:57like in real time, the 18 innings,
03:58it's funny because you hear the calls.
04:00Like, it was a great TV call to end that game,
04:02but some of the radio calls were like,
04:03fly ball at the center field,
04:04and he's going back, he's going back.
04:06Oh, wait, wait, wait, somebody scored.
04:07It's a home run at this point.
04:08Like, so many people were like,
04:10oh, thank goodness that went out.
04:11Now, if you were betting the game,
04:13you like that Dodgers money line.
04:14It was minus 200.
04:15You like the over that it already hit,
04:16so a lot of things going into it.
04:18So let's get to the game tonight, Adam,
04:20which we don't see too often an 18-inning game
04:23in the regular season,
04:24let alone in the postseason and the World Series.
04:26How does this game shape up,
04:27and who has the advantage today
04:29as we're seeing the prices heavily jump now?
04:31FanDuel's up to a minus 210 on the Dodgers today, Adam.
04:35Yeah, and I saw that at minus 205
04:39right before we came on.
04:40Obviously, it's moved five cents.
04:42It just continues to sort of ping-pong around,
04:44and I imagine there'll be an element of that
04:46up until the game.
04:47You know, last night I was on the over,
04:49and that was sweat-free
04:51because it was 4-4, I think, by the fifth inning,
04:54and the total was eight.
04:55Now, if you got it, whether eight, eight and a half,
04:57you knew you were in.
04:58And the one thing that I had
05:00that I was kind of sweating throughout that game,
05:02but once we went to extras,
05:03I, you know, it wasn't definitively dead,
05:05but I kind of felt like it was dead,
05:06was I had the Dodgers' run line.
05:08So I was just sitting there
05:09looking for a two-run homer
05:10to try and end this thing.
05:12But, you know, unfortunately,
05:13that doesn't come to fruition.
05:14As far as today's game,
05:15well, actually, I should mention,
05:16the other thing that I was really sweating
05:17was I have Dodgers minus one and a half
05:19for the series.
05:21So I was sitting there going,
05:22at the very least, you got to win this game
05:24because I just don't necessarily see
05:26the Dodgers winning three straight
05:27if they go down 2-1.
05:29So that really felt like that was on the line
05:31in last night's game as well.
05:32So again, fortunately, L.A. wins that game,
05:35takes us into it today
05:36where they certainly have
05:38the definitive pitching matchup
05:39with Otani versus Bieber
05:42in terms of ability.
05:44But I do think, you know,
05:45stamina has to come into play.
05:47And what I mean by that is
05:48Otani played this entire game last night.
05:50Again, reached base nine times.
05:53Now, was he in the field
05:55and exerting all of his energy?
05:57He was not.
05:57But he was involved in this thing
05:59until well after midnight West Coast time.
06:02Never mind in the clubhouse
06:03after the fact, all of that.
06:05Bieber, and I don't know this to be a fact,
06:07but I'm guessing that they
06:09might have sent him home,
06:10you know, back to the hotel
06:12by, you know, by the end of nine, right?
06:15Like, there's no way this guy
06:17was in the ballpark the entire game.
06:18I'm sure he went home
06:19to get a good night's sleep.
06:21At least I'd be pretty surprised
06:22if I'm wrong about that.
06:23And so, you know, whereas, again,
06:26the pitching ability goes to Otani,
06:28the rest factor might actually go to Bieber.
06:31So I do see some value
06:33in the Toronto money line here.
06:35I just, I don't want to do it
06:37because personally,
06:38I don't want to bet against myself
06:39when it comes to my Dodgers
06:41minus one and a half,
06:42you know, knowing that the Dodgers
06:43would have to win the next two
06:45after the fact to cash that bet.
06:46But if I had no pre-flop,
06:49pre-series investment,
06:50you know, I would probably
06:51take the value on the plus money
06:54with Toronto
06:55because Otani could be exhausted out there.
06:58You know, the other thing,
06:59and I'm curious as to what
07:00you guys think about this,
07:01I just kind of, by default,
07:04want to go back to the total
07:05and say over seven and a half
07:07because, again,
07:08they roll through almost 20 pitchers.
07:10These guys are going to be exhausted.
07:13I think runs are going to be scored
07:14in this game,
07:15so I do like the over.
07:16But the flip side,
07:18if I were to argue against myself,
07:19is sure,
07:20but how tired are these hitters
07:21going to be?
07:22Are they going to be,
07:23you know,
07:23waving at pitches out of the strike zone
07:25that they shouldn't be
07:26going down on swings
07:27or sort of half-heartedly
07:29swinging at pitches
07:29that, you know,
07:30they don't make great contact on
07:32and then we see an under
07:34just because these guys are wiped.
07:36I'm not sure what to do with the total.
07:39I'm interested in that total, too.
07:40Like, I would lean
07:41towards the over as well.
07:42I thought that it was
07:42seven and a halves early yesterday,
07:44went to eights and eights and a half
07:45by game time.
07:45I'm leaning towards you over, Joe.
07:46What do you say about that?
07:47Leaning towards you over tonight?
07:49That's the only way
07:50you can look here.
07:51And stop pitching to Ohtani, Toronto.
07:55Stop pitching to Ohtani.
07:57They basically did.
07:58They basically did.
07:59Yeah.
08:00Well, they're going to have
08:01to keep doing it, though.
08:02This game,
08:03the next game,
08:03if there is one,
08:04they got to just stop pitching to him.
08:07My goodness.
08:07Free passes.
08:09Yeah, go ahead.
08:09I think the record
08:10for intentional walks
08:11in a postseason
08:12is Barry Bonds
08:13with 13,
08:14something like that.
08:15Ohtani could get there
08:16in this series.
08:18Break it.
08:18The MVP
08:19for the next 10 years,
08:20it's Shohei Ohtani.
08:21The MVP of the World Series,
08:23it's Shohei Ohtani, people.
08:24Thanks, Adam,
08:25for rising and grinding
08:25with us on this Tuesday morning.
08:27Get excited, people,
08:28how quickly two hours go by
08:30because, wow,
08:31the information is good,
08:32the laughs all the way through,
08:33and what you need to know
08:34to get caught up with,
08:35that's what we provide.
08:36And also look forward
08:37to what's going to happen
08:38to tonight.
08:39But also understand this.
08:41We talk a lot on this show,
08:42as we say,
08:43but we always like to hear
08:44from the people out there.
08:45Here's our fade
08:46to public poll question.
08:54Some people are tired
08:55on the East Coast.
08:56Heck, some people are tired
08:57on the West Coast,
08:58but that doesn't mean
08:58Major League Baseball stops
09:00because you got another game tonight.
09:01Game four of the World Series.
09:03We ask questions
09:04each and every day,
09:05Monday through Friday,
09:05for the early line
09:06to see where the people are headed
09:08in a certain direction.
09:09It's easy.
09:10Go to SportsGrid,
09:11or should I say,
09:11at SportsGrid on X,
09:13follow along.
09:14Question asked this morning,
09:15will the Dodgers
09:16be up three games to one
09:18on the Blue Jays
09:19after tonight?
09:19Simple question.
09:20It basically means that
09:21the Dodgers will win this game.
09:23Do you believe they will?
09:24Absolutely and no
09:26were the two answers
09:27that were given.
09:2860% of the people
09:29say absolutely.
09:30Why?
09:31Because the Dodgers
09:31won last night.
09:32They're up 2-1.
09:33The Dodgers got Otani
09:34on the mound,
09:35who got on base
09:36nine times
09:37last night.
09:39My goodness,
09:40Joe.
09:40I voted absolutely.
09:41Minus 200 price?
09:43Yeah,
09:43looks like that's true.
09:46It's tough,
09:47Donnie,
09:47because again,
09:48the Blue Jays,
09:50the way they have been playing
09:51and the way they have been built here,
09:53the long ball
09:54is the great equalizer here.
09:56And they are hitting it
09:58at an obscene rate,
09:59Donnie.
10:00They're getting guys on base,
10:01they're making contact,
10:02and they're giving themselves
10:04a chance
10:04to have big innings,
10:06which matters
10:07in postseason baseball.
10:08I want to know
10:10what's going on
10:11with Springer.
10:12Is he playing?
10:13Is he not?
10:13He was having an MRI.
10:15They weren't sure.
10:16He had a right side issue.
10:19He swung the bat,
10:20Donnie.
10:20Grimaced,
10:21looked like.
10:21He couldn't lift his arm.
10:23So nobody knows
10:24what's going on.
10:25That's a big loss
10:26if Springer is not available to them,
10:28not just tonight,
10:29but the rest of the series.
10:31But we always said
10:32they have a puncher's chance,
10:34Donnie.
10:34They know they can't go down
10:35three games to one.
10:37And why not?
10:38This is about as even
10:40a playing field
10:40as they've had,
10:41given the fact
10:42that they both had to play
10:4318 innings last night.
10:45I would give them
10:46a puncher's chance.
10:47I would fade the public
10:49and say,
10:49not so fast here.
10:51Toronto might have
10:52a little something
10:52left in the tank here.
10:54Let's see.
10:54They better jump on
10:55Otani early in that game
10:56because you do not
10:57want to go down
10:58and say,
10:58oh no,
10:58here we go again
10:59as a 3-1 series lead
11:00within the Dodgers
11:01talking about winning
11:02the World Series
11:02on their home turf here.
11:04But that's just the way
11:05it goes down here.
11:05Fun question to ask.
11:06We'll see how it plays out
11:07a little bit later tonight.
11:09Let's go.
11:09Can I sell state for me?
11:10I'm going right back
11:11to the Major League Baseball diamond.
11:13We got some information
11:13last night that says,
11:14yes,
11:15sure,
11:15Otani's really good.
11:16He gets on base
11:16nine times last night.
11:18Hey,
11:18don't pitch to this guy,
11:20which means
11:20if you don't pitch to him
11:21and he doesn't swing
11:22at strikes that are
11:23outside of the zone,
11:24he's going to be on base.
11:25Make somebody else beat you.
11:27Plays right into my wheelhouse here.
11:29Maybe it's Mookie Betts.
11:29Maybe it's Will Smith.
11:30Maybe it's Max Muncy.
11:31Uh-uh.
11:32It's Freddie Freeman tonight.
11:33He walked it off last night.
11:34I'm betting Freddie Freeman
11:35tonight to get an RBI.
11:37That price point
11:37at DraftKings right now,
11:39plus 157.
11:40If Otani's going to be on base
11:42and Mookie Betts
11:42can move him over,
11:43Freddie Freeman's
11:44going to drive him in.
11:45Freddie Freeman,
11:46RBI tonight,
11:48plus money,
11:48plus 157.
11:49That sounds like
11:50a 2-0 night tonight
11:51for the boys, Joe.
11:53Sounds like exactly
11:55where you want it to be,
11:56Donnie Freeman,
11:57with an opportunity
11:57to drive a run in.
11:59That is exactly
12:01what he does.
