00:00But let's get back to Saturday night, Joe.
00:02You know me.
00:03I like to go to bed early, but I said, if you can just give me this one thing,
00:06give me a game seven on a Saturday, on a day where Daylight Savings kicks in the next day.
00:10I don't have to wake up early.
00:11I promise you I'll watch it all the way through.
00:14And not even in my wildest dreams that I think I would get that much entertainment
00:17out of the series where the Dodgers were pounding and mowing everybody down,
00:21let alone get a game seven that would end in 11 innings in a 5-4 victory for the Dodgers
00:26when they were down 3-0 and 4-2.
00:28Home runs in the eighth inning.
00:30Home run in the ninth inning, which was unbelievable to watch that play out.
00:33And then extra innings getting another home run.
00:36Yamamoto comes in.
00:37He was spectacular in this playoff run.
00:40Major League Baseball gave us everything we could ask for and more.
00:43What a wonderful World Series, Joe, that went to the Dodgers in seven games.
00:48And Donnie had had everything.
00:50I mean, the game six, ninth inning with the ball sticking underneath the wall,
00:57out-knee outfields.
00:59And then, of course, the double play, the way it ends there, the effort by both teams, really.
01:06I mean, just it had everything.
01:08It truly was.
01:10And maybe we'll go down as one of the greatest of all time.
01:13But as far as I can remember, this has just been one of the greatest World Series ever,
01:20given the fact that the narratives between these two teams, you know, the haves and maybe the have a little here,
01:27because the stars of this series, while there were some big names that played a part,
01:32it ultimately came down to Dodger role players that were ended up making the big plays at the big moments to get it done.
01:41And whatever they paid for Yamamoto, worth every penny, Donnie, every penny.
01:48Rojas, with a home run in the top of the ninth inning with one out.
01:52A guy that doesn't hit for any power.
01:54And you just saw those fan base was ready to explode at that point.
01:57And that ball was hit.
01:58And it was dead silence as you watched that ball sail into the stands.
02:01And you knew at that point, like, oh, my goodness, what's going to take place next?
02:05Now, let's hear from Jeff Hoffman, who was on the mound here, a Philadelphia Philly in the past.
02:09He led up that home run.
02:11He's going to remember this.
02:12And for the wrong reasons the rest of his life.
02:14What are you feeling?
02:14Can you try to verbalize what it is that's actually happening for you?
02:18I mean, we're all preparing for the celebrations.
02:20Um, yeah, I mean, I cost everybody in here a World Series ring, so it's pretty sh**.
02:33Um, I just got to execute better in that spot.
02:40And, um, yeah, I'll let that happen.
02:45He was really good for the Jays this year.
02:47You just needed two more outs and to be a closer.
02:50Like, that's what you live for is a closer, right?
02:52Give me up in a game number seven to close out a championship here.
02:56One, two, three, and away you go.
02:57He wasn't able to get it done and lit that fire under the Dodgers.
03:00We were able to come back with that victory five to four.
03:02So many instances during this game, Joe played out right in front of our eyes.
03:06And let's not forget in the bottom of the 11th inning, a leadoff double by Vladimir Guerrero
03:11Jr.
03:11Who was everything for Toronto and a game ending double play with them standing on third base.
03:16It's unbelievable theatrics here.
03:19Yeah, it had everything.
03:21And by the way, he did not lose it.
03:22I mean, the guy didn't give up a home run all series long.
03:25I think all postseason long.
03:27And that was his problem during a regular season is that he tended to give up the long
03:31ball and he gives up one home run.
03:33And it happens to be in that particular spot there.
03:36So it was unfortunate.
03:38But, you know, he's not the reason they lost this series or this game for that matter.
03:44But, you know, give credit.
03:46You got to execute, right?
03:48And one guy did and one guy didn't.
03:51And it always seems like every year there's some dude, Will Smith, on a team that ends
03:55up winning the World Series, Donnie.
03:56I don't know what it is, but there always seems to be here.
03:59And kudos.
04:01But Hoffman was not the reason they lost.
04:03No, unbelievable.
04:05I mean, so many big plays in this series.
04:06So many game-changing affairs.
04:08And even like, you know, you get that ball hit to the wall for the Dodgers.
04:11Piaz collides with Kike Hernandez.
04:13He makes the catch.
04:14This game had everything here.
04:15And even the bases loaded, ground ball to second base, which Rojas sort of double pumps, throws
04:19to the plate.
04:20And by an inch, a fraction of an inch, Will Smith is able to get that spike down on the
04:25plate before they slide home.
04:27It would have been a victory in the World Series right there.
04:29Unbelievable stuff.
04:30And as the Dodgers go, that's a superstar team.
04:32Have a Blake and Glass now.
04:34Can't beat them.
04:35Join them.
04:36That's the way it is.
04:36We're in this organization.
04:37What does it say?
04:37It's unbelievable.
04:38But we chased this in 2020.
04:40We lost it.
04:41Oh, yeah.
04:42And now we on this team.
04:43I know.
04:43It's incredible.
04:44You can't beat them.
04:46Join them, baby.
04:48They got the cash out there in L.A. to keep paying for and understand this people, right?
04:55Like, if you think, like, and I'm a Phillies fan, so I actually don't want a salary
04:58cap because my team pays a lot of money for superstars, and I don't want to see that messed
05:01up.
05:01Maybe doing Miami or Pittsburgh or Kansas City.
05:04But understand this.
05:05The Dodgers just won the World Series with a record payroll.
05:08You know what the Dodgers organization goes?
05:10How can we improve this team with even better players next year, and money won't be a thing?
05:15Get ready for the hot stove, which everybody's going to be looking for the Dodgers.
05:18Yeah, those two guys were Tampa Bay Rays starting pitchers, came up with that organization.
05:24Like, it's just unbelievable.
05:26And they land with the Dodgers because the Dodgers are about winning.
05:29And it's not just about spending money.
05:31It's about spending money in the right way here and putting together a team.
05:36Because ultimately, again, $400 million doesn't guarantee you championships.
05:42You know, 24 years, Donnie, only three teams have won a World Series that had the highest
05:46payroll.
05:47You know, how is it that we went 25 years without a repeat champion if money buys you championships?
05:53It's a farce.
05:54It doesn't happen.
05:55What they did have is a whole lot of great role players and guys that stepped up and showed
06:00up.
06:00That's what makes baseball so great, is that, yeah, you can have all the Otanis in the
06:04world.
06:05It's still, you know, how's Soto and the Mets doing?
06:07You just spent $700 trillion for a guy you didn't even sniff the playoff.
06:11So, again, it's about guys.
06:14It's more than just the big-name guys in Major League Baseball, which is what makes it so
06:19much fun to be a part of.
06:22Yamamoto, World Series MVP.
06:24Nothing short of phenomenal all the way through.
06:27It's like, you know what, Coach or Skip?
06:29I got a couple more innings left in me if you need me to go out there.
06:31And he does go out there.
06:32Two and two-thirds innings pitch, one hit, no earned runs, picks up the victory, and the
06:37MVP of the World Series.
06:40Donnie, it's crazy, too.
06:41When you think about how all of this unfolded, right?
06:44Basically, Dave Roberts said, sorry, bullpen.
06:47I'm going with my entire rotation of starters here.
06:50And that's what's going to happen.
06:52Because I don't trust any of you down there, which is fine.
06:55But I think it's amazing in the day and age in Major League Baseball, Donnie, where they
06:59pamper these starting pitchers to the point where, oh, no more than five innings at tops.
07:05Let's get them out.
07:06Can't throw 100 pitches.
07:07So what we just witnessed here is absolutely amazing.
07:11By the way, we're looking at the new evolution of the pitcher in Major League Baseball, Joe.
07:15We're like, Tampa Bay is like, hey, we're going to have openers here.
07:17How about in baseball, you just have 12 starters on your team and throw them whenever you want
07:21for how many innings you want at this point?
07:23Because apparently it works out.
07:24Hey, Yamamoto, we need you for three innings on Wednesday.
07:26How about another two on Sunday here?
07:28And Monday, if we need you for one inning, we can bring you in.
07:31Maybe the Dodgers are paving the way for the new look of these bullpens here.
07:34But the Dodgers paving the way his favorites, Joe.
07:37Plus 350 to win the World Series in 2026.
07:40Yeah, well, like I said, I'm not running to the window to tie up plus 350.
07:46Look at those Phillies.
07:46I'm just saying.
07:47Come on.
07:47Ten to one.
07:48You know.
07:48Get on board, Joe.
07:49Ten to one.
07:50Phillies.
07:51That's your only decision.
