Transcript
00:00Happy Halloween everybody. So today we are at Cider Hill Farm. We're in Amesburg, Massachusetts.
00:15It's a great autumn day, a little blustery. What better way or place to spend a Halloween
00:21than in here with some apple cider donuts and whatever else they got inside. Let's go check
00:27it out. So we are with Jenny DeRoche. Jenny, one of the owners of Cider Hill Farm? Yep, I'm
00:32one of the co-owners. So how long have you been one of the co-owners? Sure, so actually
00:37just this year my husband and I joined the Cook family as co-owners. So this is our first
00:41season. How long has Cider Hill Farm been here? So Cider Hill has a very long history. We're
00:47actually technically into the third generation with this farm. And the farm, it's actually
00:52what was known today as Cider Hill was actually once upon two farms. So this half of the farm
00:57was known as Cider Hill and the other half was Carriage Town Orchards. And then they merged
01:01together. So we are about 43 years in business. That's great. So it's pumpkins. It looks like
01:10you got some apples too? Apples. Apples all day for sure. And Christmas, anything special
01:16going on? Yeah, sure. So we are pretty much ending our apple season this coming weekend.
01:20This will be the end of our apple picking season. We still have apples in the farm store. And we'll
01:24transition into our Thanksgiving and holiday happenings, which is a variety from
01:29Thanksgiving pie orders, turkeys, to we do some Mrs. Claus storytime events for kids, Christmas
01:36trees, all of the goodness of the Christmas time. It's fun. It's a great setting for it.
01:40Something else you're famous for is your apple cider donuts. Donuts. Oh yes. People love the
01:47donuts. On I think our busiest day, maybe we made 17,000 donuts. So we've got two donut machines
01:56on busy days. They start very early in the morning and go all night long almost. Well,
02:00if you offer me one, I won't say no. Well, I think I have some donuts. Do you have donuts here? I think
02:04I have donuts right here. Oh my gosh. So this is. That is the sifted Ashley. Thank you Ashley. I'm going to try one live right here. Would you like one? So Ashley, I've already had two today. Oh, I have two today. Okay. Tell me about these. So they're made with our own fresh fresh apple cider, which we press every week during fall. And they come off the machine. They go into a light
02:25little coating of cinnamon and sugar. And there you go. It looks delicious too. Hmm. It's got kind of a crunch on the outside. That's very different. A lot of times it's just, you know, that's soft. Yes. There's some, there's some that are more just like cakey style where ours has a little bit more of a crunch, a little lighter on the inside. Very good. Love the sugar and the cinnamon on top. This is fantastic. Thank you. I only have five left.
02:50Hmm. Well, it's a tradition. You just can't have apple cider donuts without hot apple cider, right?
03:05Oh, that's so delicious. On a cool autumn day. This is fantastic. Cider Hill Farms. They've been fantastic. Thanks, everybody. Also, thank you for the recommendation to come here for the next edition of Bob Eats Boston. Drop me a message. Let me know where I should go. Like, what is a must
03:20eat place? No, we'd like that. Cheers, everybody. Happy Halloween.
