00:00Even in the broadcast booth, Tom Brady keeps winning.
00:03The seven-time Super Bowl champion is about to begin his second season
00:07as the lead analyst for the NFL on Fox.
00:09And this season, he'll do it without the league's access restrictions he had in 2024.
00:17Despite being part owner of the Las Vegas Raiders,
00:20the NFL will allow Brady to participate in production meetings with teams
00:25as he prepares to broadcast each Sunday.
00:27In his rookie broadcasting campaign, Brady was barred from the informational sessions
00:32with coaches and players because of his ownership stake in a competing team.
00:37The Brady rules, as they were dubbed, also included restrictions on publicly criticizing officials
00:43and the future Hall of Famer was not allowed to attend practices during the week.
00:48Other teams, most notably Chiefs owner Clark Hunt,
00:51did not want Brady sharing any information he may gather with the Raiders,
00:56who are in Kansas City's division.
00:58The Athletic reports those other rules will remain in place.
01:03Brady was able to receive a lot of the information he gathered in the production meetings last year
01:08from his play-by-play partner Kevin Burkhart and other crew members.
01:12His first season with Fox received mixed reviews.
01:15On the Joel Klatt show earlier this month, he reflected on what he called a learning process.
01:21There was absolutely nothing that I did that could really prepare me for what I was about to endure.
01:28And there was a lot of growing pains through the year for me just in terms of prep
01:33and then obviously going on air and there's things you messed up
01:36and there's things that you make mistakes and probably a lot like being an NFL quarterback.
01:40You know, you think, hey, I'm prepared and I got it and I practiced
01:43and then, you know, you go in a real game of your rookie year and you're like,
01:46oh my God, like that's a lot different, it's a lot faster, where are my eyes, what am I doing?
01:50And then, you know, it gets a little better in week two and a little better in week three
01:53and then sometimes you regress a little bit.
01:55Brady is widely regarded as the greatest quarterback in the history of the game.
01:59He retired in 2023 after playing 23 seasons for both the Patriots and Buccaneers.
02:05He signed a 10-year, $375 million contract with Fox Sports before he even hung up his cleats.
02:13He was approved as a minority owner with the Raiders in October of 2024.
02:18The GOAT will make his season debut on September 7th,
02:22along with Kevin Burkhart on Fox's 1 p.m. Eastern game
02:25between the New York Giants and Washington Commanders.
02:29For Straight Arrow News, I'm Chris Francis.
